We spent 2 nights at Banana bungalows. The "bungalows" are not really that; they are more like adjoining rooms. They're more than rudimentary. There's no finish, it's very ugly, but it "does the job" for the price ($15, the cheapest in the area). The big advantage is that the homes are directly on the beach, unlike most places in Otres Beach that are across the street.
There is no hot water, electricity is limited and Wi-Fi is missing most of the time.
Another important point: do not order margaritas in the restaurant, they are undrinkable and not given, it's a bit insulting. The employees are amorphous and unsympathetic. This is a place where you only go for the price and the location, but under these two criteria only, you are well served.

Staff here are wonderful, spent three days in Otres and came here everyday. Food is well priced and really tasty… especially the Vegetable Amok… seriously good!

Great place run by an amazingly friendly and loving family!

The staff are very friendly and welcome you as you arrive. The bungalows are right by the beach and are set in a really nice garden area. They're small but that's all you need as you spend most of your time on the beach. There is also Wi-Fi signal in the bungalow which was pretty handy. Unfortunately the main let down was how dirty they were and in need of of TLC. We've stayed in many beach bungalows throughout SE Asia and these were by far the worst for the price you pay which is extraordinarily high (throughout the entirety of Otres area) compared to the rest of Cambodia. The bathroom was really dirty and the bedding didn't smell fresh. Everything we owned got very damp and on the last night, it rained and it leaked quite badly through the roof. I think they need to spend a bit of that money on doing them up a bit as it is such a great location, they could be fab.
