My wife and I traveled to Punta Gorda and stayed at Hickatee cottages. This was the most memorable, relaxing and outright amazing trip we’ve ever been on. Very affordable, and extremely safe and welcoming. Scuba diving, spelunking, snorkeling, jungle tours, butterfly farms, hiking trails everywhere, howler monkeys, beautiful wildlife, Mayan ruins, and lest I forget the AMAZING food. One day we’ll go back, it will hold a special place in our hearts forever.

We have stayed at Hickatee Cottages three times now, it is one of those places that is the old standard of service the new owners are great people and will go out of their way to help you plan adventures in the area and there are many. You are close enough to the water to go fishing snorkeling or scuba, inland are ruins of great cities and villages that show the real Maya way doing things. The cottages are well appointed and the beds are very comfortable one major thing for me and the wife. The food is all locally sourced and prepared well, Ali's baking is really very good, her breakfast pastries are very tasty, they also deliver fresh coffee and or tea to your cottage every morning. When we are in the Punta Gorda area we stay at Hickatee Cottages no A/C which is no big deal the cottages have great ceiling fans. The Wi-Fi is great so it makes up for it.

Really liked the place. Nice and quiet. For a location that is off-grid surprised to see the Internet working as well as it did. The connection however does not reach the cabins. Food was nice, beer was cold and so was the rain plunge-pool, but nice to put you feet in after a day hiking. Staff and cats were friendly, (humming) — birds flying around, howler monkeys in the distance and gentle rain on the roof make for an excellent nights sleep.

Had a wonderful stay at Hickatee Cottages last month. I was travelling alone and felt so at home at Hickatee. Each morning I enjoyed my morning coffee served on the front porch and then took a meditaitive walk through the rain forest trails. The bikes were fun to ride on the quiet road through the jungle. Also an easy ride into the village. I ended my day with a refreshing glass of wine and delicious dinner served on the outdoor porch of the main lodge. Many favourite memories of my trip to Belize are of this very special place.

Particularly great because it serves as a great escape from society, nestled gently in the beautiful forest amidst great wildlife.
