I stayed in the junior suite and it was really good. The view from the room is amazing. The location is around 20 minutes walk from Lake Hallstatt.

About 2 km from the pier of Hallstatt town, pull luggage about 30 minutes to reach the side, three floors, no elevator, but good accommodation, breakfast is very rich yo!

First of all, I would like to say that the pension operators are super nice and very cordial. Both ourselves and our dog were welcomed with open arms and received super. In the junior suite we would have been unlucky as we got an unrefurbished one. Breakfast was not excellent as in other comments, but OK as the value for money does not fit. For 14 euros per person you get the minimum that you can expect from a breakfast in a pension. If you want to drink a beer in your room in the evening, you should take care of yourself, since at the "reception" there is no one in the evening and nobody is reachable. Not even by phone. The supper was rustic and gutscgmeckend. EJedoch also the price-performance ratio. We have paid for better takeaway food, more than in a 4 star superior hotel near by far better quality and location. Anyone who wants to make a bargain is better off elsewhere. If no other room in the area is free, it's OK. The surroundings are wonderful though.

The breakfast was very good. It's a little warm and not air conditioned.

Adoreable traditional family owned pension with a warm feeling. Corridors and restaurant walls were decorated with family photos which gave a very personal touch. Staff were very friendly. Our room were large, up to date and very clean. They had a daily 3 course menu which tasted homemade (which I like! ). But the best part, they had a super cuddly cat!

Incredibly accommodating and friendly in trying to squeeze us in and make anything possible to help our tight travel schedule.

Very nice here. The view from the balcony is awesome. The staff is super. The breakfast has a great selection. The old city center of Hallstatt is just a short walk away.

My group of four had a great stay at Gasthof Hirlatz. We had a slightly late check in and were greeted kindly and ordered help with the lay of the land and suggestions for dinner and drinks. The room was great, beds comfy, view wonderful, and we had a very pleasant stay. We wish we'd been able to stay another night.

Wonderful place, very authentic feel. I loved the dining area, only wish they had beer and dinner there, too! Beautiful room, we had a suite with a beautiful deck. Everything was clean. The staff was amazing… the lady at the desk from Liverpool treated us like friends and gave us great recommendations to eat and drink.

The Pension-Gasthof Hirlatz was a wonderful stay for us. It is about 20 minute walk from the center of Hallstat, but it is a beautiful walk, along a flowing river and charming houses. If you stayed in the center of town, you would not have any reason to walk in this area and would miss this charming section of Hallstatt. The inn sits between two mountains and the view of the innn is exceptional as you approach it. Wonderful view out of your room as well. You will sleep to the sound of the running water in the stream. The Inn is not fancy, but it is very clean. There was no musty smell as the reviews for some of the other inns say. (Hallstatt is not the driest place, and the buildings are old, so I suspect the other reviewers are right about musty smells at some other places. ) The Hirlatz had a very friendly staff, check in, check out and parking, etc. Went fine. You do not need a pass to drive to Hirlatz as with some of the other inns in the village. Overall, I was very pleased and would recommend.
