Lovely place to visit in York.

Nice clean Heritage Pub with nice restaurant and accommodation.

Alice at the Palace is definitely the pinnacle of dining in York. A smaller menu where everything is done to perfection and presented well. Friendly service and modern decor in a historic setting. Very highly recommended.

Bit rushed on a long weekend. But great venue and somewhere off the usual haunts to chill on a long weekend.

Great small hotel. Stayed in chalet off main building. Lovely little town. Will be coming back.

Had dinner and was pretty basic. Trying to be better than what it is.

Food was good and dog was beautiful but should have been contained to his own area.

We had a good lunch at Alice at the Palace. Great simple tasty menu with good portion sizes, ice cold drinks and friendly service you would expect in a country town pub. The toilels were clean and through the quite and quirky beer garden out the back.

Very warm friendly staff and beautiful friendly dog Max. A few cobwebs about and a tad too warm but the food was superb as was the service. We will visit again.

Incredible service and food despite the fact we arrived as the kitchen was scheduled to close. Did I mention the food was amazing? Unusual for York! — a local.

Lovely service, stayed there 2 nights and enjoyed every second. The rooms were spacious with a good aircon, big bed, large bathroom and rain shower. The food is absolutely lovely and you can have a drink outside in a nice shady setting.

I just recently got married at the Faversham house, we decided to go for dinner to the palace on Friday night. As we were a table of 20+ and there was another wedding function on with 20+ people also, Nola the owner had told me she was going to close the restaurant and have it open only for the functions (which would have been absolutely perfect). This did not happen, we waited about half an hour to place our dinner order, at least 15 minutes for a drink and over an hour and half for our food, the owner was rude to my Nanna and the staff were also rude to many people, myself included. My meal of shanks was disgusting and inedible, no refund was offered although they did give a complimentary pavlova. Chips were forgotten off a mates meal & when he complained the lady came back with a basket of chips, slammed them on the table and said "they are on the house". The only compliment I can give is the tidiness of the restaurant and beer garden and also the lady who worked her first day — she was gorgeous. I doubt we will be back though. Also a family member booked well in advance for a room & when they rocked up apparently it never happened.!

Perfectly comfortable motel unit. Good hot shower. Lovely golden retriever in reception. And a very friendly lady. Expensive, and the bar/restaurant was not open (Monday).
York is a lovely wee town. The motor museum is fab.

Alice in the Palace restaurant has a great menu every week. We have eaten here three times now. Great food and atmospheric.

We stayed the night and ate at the York Palace Hotel as a group while on a 1800km charity run through WA. We were all blown away. The food was incredible. Between our group we tried the gnocchi, salmon and fillet and all were top quality. The entrees were just as incredible. It was very surprising finding 5 star food in a small town like York. Our accommodation was clean, quality and comfortable. We would have loved to stay longer. The owner Nola was wonderfully entertaining and accommodating as was her husband and we all would definitely love to come back. I would recommend this establishment to anyone. You would not expect to find a place like this in York.

We were at the Palace Hotel York today for lunch with a group. Simply awesome. Loved the food (sticky date. Wow), service & the friendly staff. If you haven’t been yet, what are you waiting for.

As someone who loves food and consider myself as above average in the kitchen, when I go out I wanna be impressed with quality food and dishes.
The visual textures and creations of deliciousness please all senses.
Definitely come back :)

I can't even describe how amazingly delicious this place is! Everything we ate was food from heaven! The beef cheeks, lamb shanks and arancini balls were seriously to die for. I wish I didn't live so far away so I could eat there often. And to top it off, fantastic customer service!

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE Went to York for the weekend with friends stayed at The York Palace Hotel. Accommodation was wonderful, owner could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. We had dinner at the restaurant, the food, wine and service just wonderful, the restaurant was really busy but did not have to wait to long for meals or service. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you Nola.

This is a review for the restaurant — absolutely stunning. We were a table of 6 the restaurant was full, food came out quickly and was absolutely beautiful. Staff were very friendly very helpful the whole experience was first class. Now for the Creme Brulee oh my goodness best we have ever had! Thank you so much for a excellent end to our day.

I ate dinner here last night with three companions, so this is a restaurant and not a hotel review. An impromptu visit for dinner, and whilst the venue looked busy we were able to get a table by the front windows. I ordered the Steak Fillet, knowing that I would make some room for the desserts list. My companion ordered the same dish as I did, but whilst I ordered rare, she ordered it medium. Just over 30 mins later the food arrived and I think the waitress was a little confused because I ended up with the medium rare steak whilst my companion received the rare one, and although it wasn't my preferred choice, the steak was good, as were the potatoes and the salad. In fact, I can't stand side salad as I usually see it as plate filler or decoration, but I did enjoy this one. It took some time for plates to be cleared, but after I ordered the brownie. It arrived just luke warm and a little too spongy for my liking. Again at the end it took some time for plates to be cleared. We then split the bills between us. Be warned, split bills have to be pre-arranged and anything over a three way split, there is a 10% surcharge. This is advertised on the menus. We worked out the split ourselves and they were happy to arrange individual payments. The venue itself is pleasant, but there was quite a severe draft under the bottom of the patio doors facing the road, which was pretty cold. I think the prices are a little steep, but the place has potential.

I had the most delicious dinner ever. The gnocchi was to die for so good, that I am coming back tomorrow for lunch already planning on having it. Then I've ordered dessert. Chocolate Lindt brownie, with ice-cream and raspberry. O. M. G! From a sweet tooth lover, I'm in love with this food. Only wish I could find such nice food like this more often. I recommend The York Palace Hotel with my eyes closed! Enjoy it!

Been three times and each time the food has been superb. Congratulation Went to the Palace for an evening meal, the steak was superb, the service amazing. Thank you for a most memorable evening. The standard is as good as you would get at any top restaurant anywhere. Congratulations to you both.
