Stayed here again, love the spa baths and the quite. Hearing and watching the birds. Right in town, so everything is close. Love York.

Mo and Donna went out of their way to look after our large group of several familes. My own family had a spa double room upstairs, and a twin room. Both had fresh carpets, comfy beds, fresh new linen and and were roomy and sparkling clean. While the complex does not pretend to be flash, it was very nicely done up inside; I loved the beautiful classic washstand in bathroom, but also the spa; narrow, but good jets! Plenty parking under floodlights on one side, and you can use MadMo's cafe as a walk-through to the main street. Excellent value for money, too, and breakfast is very big and filling. If you're a bit noise-sensitive like myself, perhaps request an upstairs room not facing the courtyard, where the noise is amplified when other guests get in late. Our room faced the railway line but only one train passed and we slept really well. Mo and Donna were very reasonable about late-checkout, for which we were very grateful! Very happy to recommend, and shall definitely stay here again when next in York. I'm giving it 5 stars for the excellent value and super-friendly, helpful service. Thanks for looking after us!

There are plenty of rooms but the two we booked were full of cobwebs and one room was smelling of urine. Also Kerry (owner) was not at all nice on the phone when I spoke to her, plus there is no reception. No staff on site. You either ring for her to arrive or collect the keys from her sisters business in the Settlers Bar next door. Finally it is NOT on the main street of York, it is one street back.

Absolutely everything you need for a short (or long) stay in this lovely town. Comfortable big bed, TV, fridge & microwave and cutlery and crockery. Stocked with tea, coffee and milk which was nice. Get a room with a bath tub if you can. Great location right on the main street of town, close to restaurants, museums and the river.

Great price for budget hotel. Clean and comfortable rooms.

Inexpensive and just ok but would recommend paying a little more and staying somewhere else if planning a trip to York. If you know a local ask them before booking. Owner or manager is friendly and helpful on phone but not on site when we arrived We booked a family and spa room. Facilities in family room were old and poorly maintained leading to a general feeling of grottiness. Examples include: rust on fridge exterior, baked in grime on crevices of stove, grease filled exhaust fan above stove, dusty floors, skirtings, window sills and Venetian blinds, light fittings full of dead insects in family room, finger marks all over walls, dirt/dark gritty substance on floor of toilet in family room. Heavy air freshener aroma throughout. Ok if all you have to do is sleep and leave but not a place to hangout, relax, cook meals, eat etc. Lack of attention to detail in other areas of cleaning made me decide to give the spa a miss.

Arrived and was lucky enough to be told that I needed to go to mad mo cafe on the main Street to check in … Who's attitude was a bit careless … The room was small and compact for a luxury queen room and the spa bath was a big let down … It was nice to sit down on the balcony and have a drink but none of the balconies have anything to look at … Seems to be the norm in Perth and WA not to have your room made up daily which I didn't mind but a person need new towels and washing soaps etc replenished … if it was again I would stay at the palace …

Good reasonably priced accommodation in centre of York. No microwave which was listed on the info and unfortunately no Wi-Fi which admittedly was not. Good spa bath.

We have stayed here twice in 3 weeks. First stay was great room was in the main "hotel" area behind Settlers House only thing there only the shower worked and I really wanted a bath that night but the room was nice bathroom fine would have given it a 4 star rating. Booked again and paid more for the spa suit … Well big mistake first of all arriving in the dark took us 2 goes to actually find the driveway then having a big 4x4 was interesting negotiating getting it down the driveway very very narrow with a metal box almost hitting the wing mirror got parked up and was told our room is the one with no name the parking area was very dark and yes in a puddle I went. Find our key open the door and spa suit is not what we saw spa bath in tiny bedroom is what we got. Room is tiled so being winter it's freezing can't swing a cat in here it's really small no place to put bags or hang up clothes (no cupboard) just a huge bath. Aircon/heater very noisy so very disrupted sleep. Thought we were getting a bigger spa suit with kitchen so very disappointed. After all this if I came to York again I would stay here but only in the main hotel bit like our first visit. The room with no name I do not recommend.

Adequate, nothing special. Good location. Room had dirty carpets and discounted breakfast offer.

THE NOSH AND NOD This place is not what was on the Internet.! After driving for 4days we arrived to our room The Ivy roomat 1.30am to find. … Stained towels Stained sheets Ripped blankets Dirty cooking pots n pans Kettle was rusted and corroded Wall next to our bed was dirty Air con dripping water next to our bed and on the bed side table wall and floor Photo's on there site are not what you see "TRICK PHOTOGRAPHY" at its best. The rooms were all full and there was no STAFF or OWNER on site! I messaged the owner Kerry at 11.52am after only staying in the Ivy room for 8hrs and explained what was wrong and that my family and I were not happy. Her reply at 12.41pm was "i'll be there shortly". Well 3 hrs later Kerry the owner turns up but unfortunately we had left to find other accommodation as it was not fit to stay there my kids were upset I was in tears as when she finally did ring us back at 2.51pm stating she was at our room, but my family and I had all ready found and paid for other accommodation. Kerry told us that we were NOT getting any of our money back my partner said what not even for 2 nights kerrys reply was READ THE FINE PRINT!. We booked for 4 nights and only stayed there for 8 hrs. We didn't want all our money back we only wanted to be refunded for 2 nights but it was still NO! NOW THIS MATTER HAS BEEN TAKEN FURTHER AND WILL BE REPORTED TO THE SHIRE… Feel sorry for the next family that has to stay there!

Big beer garden, lots of seating. Friendly bar chic. She brought out a bowl of water for my dog without me even having to ask. Bottleshop staff was a happy lady too.

Nice bed. Noisy airconditioning.

Clean, tidy room. Very quiet and peaceful. Plenty of parking nearby. Need to go to Mad Mo's Cafe on the main street to check in. There were lots of ant nests outside our room and a few ants wandering around inside.
