Quirky and funky place to stay — staff are excellent will go that but extra to help you out. I love the mezzanine floor where you can make your own coffee/tea anytime of the day and has lounges and tables and chairs for guests to hang out and have a chat or read one of the many books they have available — when in Perth will stay again.

Had a staff member barge into my locked room with one of the room keys for some unknown accident without any care or genuine apology which shows the lack of professionalism & respect they have for guests. Definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Fantastic venue, great atmosphere, very friendly and professional staff. The food, wine, cocktails and service is a 10 out of 10. Will definitely be coming back.

Lovely anniversary weekend at The Alex. We often eat at Shadow wine bar and love it. When our Italian business partners have come to Perth, we have put them up here but have never stayed ourselves. We live 3 kms away. Love small boutique hotels. This ticks all the boxes. Very nice modern and comfortable room. Beautiful relaxed shared spaces, friendly staff and perfect location. And above all unpretentious. Great for rediscovering our city.

Got served half of the glass and was told this is how much they serve their wine. What a disgusting rip off for $12

Really smart, beautifully designed, ultra modern hotel with terrific restaurant (great lighting and acoustics too) and interesting and tasty breakfasts. Young, friendly and intelligent staff too. Highly recommended.

We loved our balcony room but we did have a toilet issue but Holly at reception was very prompt in finding us another room, though smaller room, we were given a complimentary breakfast which was very kind and quite yummy. Thank you Holly for making our stay amazing!

Awesome hotel, great staff. Was worried about the street noise but could hardly hear any noise and they supplied ear plugs. Bed was comfy, loved the large shower. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Only recommendation is the rooms need small fridge.

Friendly helpful staff, gorgeous room / bathroom with super comfy bed and soft pillows. The free bike hire was a lovely surprise and treat for the location.

Dinner and drinks, we had the whole upstairs to ourselves on a Saturday night, relaxing, cozy and comfy, loved it.

My partner has stayed at the Alex previously and surprised me with a two night stay for my birthday. We loved the stylish industrial feel and thoroughly enjoyed being in the heart of a myriad of rooftop bars, restaurants, close to the Art Gallery, Library and PICA. Yagan Square linked us easily with the city so the location is faultless. While compact, our top floor room offered what was needed, though a little more storage and thought to things such as towel rails and a bar fridge wouldn’t have gone astray. I particularly loved the shower design with a floor to ceiling window incorporating a blind for privacy. Level 1 offered us great options to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and the paper. We both absolutely loved the adjoining Shadow Wine Bar with its very cool ambience and fantastic food. The rooftop bar area was a great surprise, and offered stunning views and a romantic nook to enjoy a drink. One disappointment was cleaning staff vacuuming passage right outside our door just after 7am on our last day despite our ‘do not disturb’ sign, but a call to reception put a quick stop to that.

Just a very unique place. Quiet, homely, friendly atmosphere. Just love it.

Nice, quiet little bar in the hotel. Has great wine from next door, the shadow bar. The girls behind the bar are superb and very helpful.

Great hotel with self-service bar and breakfast making for a trendy hotel. Usual amenities with cool mezzanine and rooftop terrace for hanging out. Conveniently located near the heart of Northbridge and a 2m walk to Perth City Centre and Yagan Square. Train station, bus stops and parking located next to hotel make for easy access.

Great boutique hotel. Very comfortable and nice places to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. It was a bit noisy outside from the Saturday night clubbing etc but not too bad. Breakfast was enjoyable although the unusual chairs around some of the tables weren't too comfortable, although there is other choices of seating both inside and outside.

Really cool hotel witha bit of a twist. Great community space at the bottom for working and eating. Lovely roof top terrace for relaxing. The free loan bikes were great. Situated very central right by perth station and lots of buzzing night life.

Hotel was stylish and has a fantastic close location. That was probably the best part about it for us party goers. Noise wasn’t a problem for us at all being on the top story facing the city and sunset.
Tiny tiny rooms, tiny tiny balcony only designed for one person to smoke. No wardrobe, very heavy/hard to open doors, expensive considering what was offered in the rooms, and even more expensive amenities deposit. Breakfast was terrible and no place to sit and eat. Had to go elsewhere. Doesn’t cater to the amount of people staying at the hotel unfortunately.
Probably won’t be returning as it was the most underwhelming hotel I’ve been to. : (

Have stayed here multiple times and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every time. The service is great, location is fantastic and the quality of the breakfasts and bar are always above expectations.

Once again I enjoyed staying at the Alex. Thanks for a good environmental policy with stepping away from single use plastics and putting in quality refillable bathroom products. Maybe paper bin liners would be something possible as a point of improvement? Breakfast was great. Everything was yum. Loved the savoury muffin and homemade crumpets. Thank you.

As far as you understand the concept of this hotel, you can stay comfortably. This hotel is especially recommended for; -business person -couples -travellers -those who spend more time for sightseeing and night life, rather than do nothing special but relax in the hotel. There is common cafe space in 1st floor, so those who need to do some desk work in a comfortable condition can make use of this space.

Very nice hotel with stylish modern rooms. The best choice if you don’t want to stay in one of the boring chain hotels. The hotel has a very nice rooftop where you can drink a beer and enjoy the sunset.

Friendly staff, solid breakfast, wonderful rooms with excellent quality bedding. Great location within walking distance of any cuisine you could want. A great stay.

Amazing stay! Love the atmosphere of the place. Enjoyed a quiet drink in the evening on the rooftop, great views and perfect end to the night. Delighted with the included breakfast, was a great start to the day in the warm common area mezzanine. Looking forward to another stay.

It is a small nice hotel in a great location very close to shops and restaurants, all staff was very friendly and keen to help all the time. I would recommend Alex Hotel for couples or people traveling by themselves, not so much for families specially with small children.

Such a cool funky industrial boutique hotel in the city, with so many things to do & see, and places to eat & drink all within walking distance or use the free bikes. The Shadow Wine Bar downstairs is a must. Rooftop terrace was a highlight with great city views. Fantastic communal living spaces & loved the "honour bar". Rooms are smaller but perfect for what we needed. The only minor negative was the elevator always took a really long time, but you can always use the stairs.

There wasn't much food I liked at the breakfast buffet. However the location was perfect for what we needed. The service was excellent.

Modern and sleek hotel that does all the basics really well. Rooms are small but function perfectly and have everything you need to be comfortable. Including electric blinds. Winner! Staff are bubbly and helpful. Breakfast is a good spread. Everything's kept in good condition. A good location, only a short walk into the throng of Perth's CBD.

Joy of picking local stay over chain: complementary bike ride for city tour, free local healthy breakfast, prompt to stay active, healthy glass over plastic water bottles, reminder to enjoy the premises and feel home, individual attention to every customer. Loved the City Hideaway package at the Alex Hotel. Brilliant place to stay and all the staff were lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

What an amazing hotel! I've stayed here twice now and wouldn't consider anything else. There's a real Ace Hotel vibe here in terms of the decor and architecture, but without the snobbery. I especially love the mezzanine level with it's open plan lounge, working area and honour bar. Please expand to other cities!

Bed is super comfy, staff very nice and rooftop view a nice bonus. Street is a bit noisy on saturday night, maybe a better isolation could help.

The rooms were really well done, Very different from the normal hotel style, much more personal. The location was excellent.

Spent a weeknight here to see a concert and didn't disappoint. Love the eclectic layout of the hotel and the honour bar is a rare and welcome experience. The roof top terrace at night is amazing and a great place to meet people and have a drink. The rooms were cleaned and the bed comfortable although very small and very lacking in a wardrobe! That's my only complaint. Overall a fantastic experience and will be going again.

You're e couraged to spend time in their mezzanine. Breakfast is continental and their bar runs on an honour system which is awesome. It is right in town so it can be affected by noise. Other than that it's the best hotel in Perth that I've stayed at. Free Wi-Fi, bike hire, and the architecture is just wow.

This was my 2nd visit to Perth, and am so glad I booked with Alex Hotel! Reception staff was awesome… friendly and made me feel welcome… I was only here for 2 nights and the room was perfect enough for me since I was hardly in it… theres just so much to do and see and perfectly convenient for someone who likes to be out and about! And when I wasn't out and about and back at the hotel… I spent an hour up on the roof terrace with a great book and cool drink enjoying the view and the breeze all at the same time! Will definately be staying here next time I visit!

Hotel was very nice and reasonably priced. The location is superb, with tons of restaurants and shops nearby. The staff was friendly and helpful as well.

Very cool and modern concept of a hotel. Really great casual and homely atmosphere, with unobtrusive, professional and personal service. Rooms were very clean and well equipped with free movies and Wi-Fi included. The only criticism was during breakfast where they clearly need more staff on hand — when we ate all bread, cutlery, crockery and serviettes had been depleted and weren't replenished for a while. Really great place to spend a weekend in the city or short work trip. Definitely will return.

Visited friends who were staying here and was really impressed. Hotel has a great feel to it, and there's an awesome deck on the roof where you can go up and watch the city in the setting sun!

The staff could not be more helpful, the design and concept unique in Australia, but at the end of the day you stay at a hotel to sleep… This is impossible at 23:30 with live music playing in the bar next door which I have been informed might go on until 2am on a Wednesday night! To then be told that this is the room type you booked is a kick in the xxxx. I do not recall reading the room description as "small room high floor noisy as fcuk". For all the trend the property offers if $59 ibis means you can sleep go figure… Update: the above was written late at night and justified the 1* rating at the time. … but to be fair by 12:15 all was quiet and a peaceful, extremely comfortable night was had. The following day I met with the crew and noise cancelling issues were discussed and was an extremely positive response! I then had the day working from the hotel and the concept worked fantastically… Open space for breakfast and then at least 5 hours working and skyping with the Sydney office from the lounge… Noise issue aside and as already mentioned awesome design and great concept so updated to 4* and will return shortly!

The rooms are small but trendy, clean, and well thought out. There is no unnecessary "fat" (I. E. Things you don't use) and many practical inclusions like free unlimited Wi-Fi for streaming Netflix, USB charging ports next to the bed, TV that pairs to your devices, complimentary bottled filtered water, etc. Many of the exclusions are simply shared for the whole level, which to be honest is a very smart way of doing things.

This place is pretty stellar. The base rooms are far cheaper than most hotels in Perth, and far nicer. They are cosy, clean and clearly new. The bathrooms are small but the shower is roomy and fancy, to give an idea even the soap and shampoo was made for them in Fremantle. The complimentary breakfast was limited in selection but made up for it in quality. Most wonderful is the rooftop terrace, the view of this city is worth the stay.

The Alex is not dissimilar to some boutique hotels you would find in New York. The ‘Small’ room we took was indeed cosy, but beautifully appointed nonetheless, and the rooftop area was a great place to unwind with a drink from the ‘honour bar’ on the Mezzanine level. Overall an excellent spot for a weekend getaway in the city with numerous restaurants literally a stone’s throw away.

Stranded in Perth due to holiday plans being destroyed by bush fires. Not only did Emma and her associates make my daughter and myself welcome but made us feel part of their world for the time we were there. Extremely hospitable and caring. Fabulous, comfy, smart accommodation in a great location. We will be back.

Absolutely loved this hotel. Great amenities, great staff, and great location all wrapped up in one. Highly recommended. I will definitely be coming back to The Alex.

Lovely place, warm atmosphere.

Love this place … What a gem … Staff incredibly friendly warm helpful kind approachable. The room clean comfortable. Room temperature perfect. The bed like sleeping on a cloud. The bed sheets crisp. The bathroom gorgeous complimentary shampoo conditioner body wash hair dryer, 2 big towels 2 smaller towels 2 face towels and bath mat all crispy white love it. Breakfast complimentary great variety. Rooftop area very comfortable can't praise this hotel enough. I will always recommend this hotel and be happy to stay again and again. Thank you Alex Hotel you guys are wonderful.

Having spent several months watching the hotel being built while sitting at Lot 20 bar we decided to go for my birthday early in August. Great vibe, loved the communal areas, share and honesty box concepts. Although we didn't use all of the facilities available we were really impressed with what was on offer. Genuine customer service and can't wait to have a few beers on the balcony when we return in Summer! I don't think I would consider anywhere else to stay in Perth and really enjoyed the late check out and free movies.
