I can highly recommend a stay at this lodge. The staff are excellent and the views are stunning. Pictures do not do it justice and it is nature at its finest Cheers to the staff for making our stay very special.

Absolutely stunning place and beautiful scenery, the staff were super friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. My husband wasn’t feeling well on checkout, the staff said we could stay as long as we want, so lovely.

Wow — the most amazing place. The staff are some of the best I have encountered, the food is spot on, scenery will blow you mind and I can’t think of a better place to relax. We will be back again next winter — thank you.

A great driver’s road from Maydena to the Lodge! Fantastic views along the way! Then relax inside the restaurant for a simple lunch of fish and chips and salad whilst enjoying the view over Lake Pedder; fantastic!

Pedders Wilderness Lodge is certainly a great location and the activities and walks are a real treat. The accommodation while basic, is both comfortable and clean. The selection of food and beverages is ample, for both adults and children alike. One could say a great holiday location… While there are some welcoming, professional and very accommodating team/staff members, there are others that just don't cut it. Particularly the manager, who on most occasions just plonked himself at the bar and burried his head in his computer. That is until he becomes the 'fun police' and embarrasses guests by scolding from his seat at the bar and in front of everyone — truly disrespectful behaviour from a manager. All well and good if we were actually doing something untoward; only we weren't, we were simply playing a board game card. Then there's the double standards, where staff are apparently allowed to enter the bar (and yes, where the manager is seated) area without wearing a mask — covering their nose and mouth with their tshirt? Having shared my discomfort with my travel companion about the managers approach and the staff member not wearing a mask; to top off what had already become an uncomfortable evening; one of the wait staff decided she'd fill the manager on my conversation. So what did the manager do, he yet again spoke to me in a manner that was bullish and in front of everyone in the restaurant and bar area. Only this time instead of saying from his bar stool, he came over.

Our lake view room is lovely, the staff are great, the meals are great and there is really so much to see and do in the surrounding area.

Wonderful place with amazing views and excellent accommodation and food. The service from all staff was A1, very friendly and efficient. We would absolutely recommend the place to anyone.

Love it. Very isolated. Well worth the 92 km, 1 hour 15 minute windy drive one way to the lodge.

Great wilderness spot. Recommend a Lakeview room, but the bar/lounge area also has wonderful views. Gordon Dam visit a must.

I’d love to come back … This weekend we had the wettest weather in five years both in the North and the South … The staff aren’t just amazing they are exceptional … I applaud them living and working in a remote location and providing the service they do … It’s a fair way from Hobart and we loved the menu … It’s not fine dining but it’s rustic. My family enjoyed the fire with the chess and games area with the eight ball table … I’d recommend this as a romantic getaway yet we took kids … Lesson learned.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Pedder Wilderness Lodge over New Year. We can't recommend this place highly enough — our room was spotless and the bed very comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful and the meals in the restaurant were fantastic. To top it off the views were spectacular and we found it a great base to explore the beautiful Southwest Wilderness. New Years eve was great with live music and a cosy fire — we might have to return again next year as we're not sure we can find a better New Years getaway location. Thanks everyone there for making our stay so good.

The Pedder Wilderness Lodge was an incredible place to get married. The staff, especially the manager Simon, were amazing. Very professional and helpful in looking after the 100+ guests who stayed. The staff’s accomodating nature created such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The rooms were lovely and well kept and the food was delicious. The South West area itself is beautiful, remote and wild. We couldn’t have asked for better for our big day/weekend away. Thanks so much! Katherine and Rob.

A group of us visited the lodge a few weekends ago and took advantage of the 2 for 1 deal — Absolutely worth it!
The rooms were clean, warm & spacious — we stayed in one of the self contained units
Dinner at the lodge was lovely & offered a variety of options.
We also had the option to cook in our unit — thankfully I took a few utensils from home as the cooking utensils were not amazing.
The pool was put to good use also
Will absolutely visit again.

Just recently had an overnighter at the Peddar Wilderness Lodge and thoroughly loved our experience. Simon and his wonderful staff made sure we all had a great time. Our only regret was we didn't stay longer. We'll be going back, that's for sure. — с Tim Stevenson.

What a great place for a peaceful week end we had a self contained cabin and it was so cosy and warm. The Lodge staff were so friendly and helpful and the food at the restaurant was so good we will be back for sure.

Just had two nights here for the price of one. Nice and peaceful place to stay. Meals and service all round was brilliant.

This place is really a camp. I have stayed in mining camp dongas with better amenities. No TV no fridge. Very very basic which would be OK at $80 a night which is what it’s worth not the $168 we paid. Very disappointing accommodation.

Stayed a few days in this spectacular part of Tasmania. Have never seen such natural beauty before! The meals at the lodge are fantastic. Had the best steak cooked by Ann (I think she is the owner) it was delicious and so tender! Had lemon tart for dessert and that was good too! The lake is very beautiful and you just feel so relaxed. Staff are very helpful and cheerful! Highly recommend a visit or a stay! The Chef Ann came to my table to ensure that all was good with my food. She is really lovely and caring! Wouldn't hesitate letting her cook me another steak sometime!

Just had a very relaxing 2 nights for price of 1. Great service, amazing food, the female scottish waitress was awesome. Very highly recommended. After 1 small issue management were fantastic. My husband even said our 2nd nights meal was the best hes ever had. We will be back.

Me and a friend were travelling (at the end of June) to the amazing Gordon Dam (unfortunately a bit too late on the day because in winter season it‘s getting dark very early), on the way back there were suddenly a lot of animals on the road after sunset. We just could drive 30 km/h! But luckily we have seen not too far away a Hotel called „Pedder Wilderness Lodge“. First we were thinking to sleep in the car but it was really cold and we hadn‘t any food. So we went inside and a really nice Lady (the owner?! ) suggested us not to drive further at night. She showed us two comfortable rooms and let us choose between this for a good price! We were very happy and thankful about this! Then we ate some dinner there. It was sooo YUMMY and the service were lovely too! Also the little breakfast had everything you need for a good start into the day. I loved the fresh fruit salad! Thanks to the kind man from the restaurant service who took care of us to go on well for our travels! We enjoyed that place very much and got at the end some recommendations about the area. It was such a pretty place — we missed nothing but we miss this place now! THANK YOU for everything! Mel & Jana.

Stunning views. Easy to get to. The spa suite is lovely. Romantic. There are however no stove top for cooking.

A very disappointing stay. Sadly after being gifted a voucher to stay at the Wilderness Lodge, myself and my partner left Sunday morning quite unhappy with the quality of our stay. We stayed in a "Pedder Wing Lakeview Suite" — a terribly under-equipped closet with paper thin walls, allowing us to hear all about what our neighbours were up to. Staff also found it fitting to check another guest into our room while we were still staying… needless to say, having a stranger unlock and walk into your room while you're enjoying "privacy" is certainly a new experience for me, and the height of incompetence on hotel management's part. The restaurant is equally unspectacular — a list of five or six average pub style meal options at fine dining prices. I had to ask employees of the lodge (including the new owner, quite possibly the rudest and most dismissive of the lot) a total of three time in regards to whether my voucher was able to be used on dining — naturally as the money had already been banked, little interest was given to providing outstanding service to me as a guest. The long and short of it — we won't be returning, nor advocating a stay at the lodge to anyone else. The dated accommodation is in dire need of update, as well as significant training and attitude adjustment of staff.

Quite disappointed with the new service at the lodge having had dozens of meals in the past, meal took nearly an hour to be served to me each night and it was quite appalling. The medium rare steak was nearly cremated and was hands down the worst steak ever plated to me.
Staff were argumentative and our group of 6 all had very poor service.
We collectively were spending about $1300 each night and quite honestly were expecting more.
Having beans on toast tonight as really there is just no other option here at the moment.

Lovely spot, friendly staff, very reasonably priced. The pool, workout space and lodge area are a great way to unwind after a hike. I could easily spend an extended holiday here.

Such a good time — thoroughly recommend staying in the spa suite! It was a rainy weekend, but there was enough to keep 8 of us occupied, including spending 2 — 3 hours in the 29 degree pool, then scooting back to the spa suite for a dip in the hot tub to warm up. We last stayed a year ago, and the hotel has definitely warmed up its main spaces — just more comfortable all round, with blankets and nice couches. The restaurant looked after us as well, and all the meals looked great. I would recommend, though, if you've got some food allergies to let the hotel know prior, as we did this (we had 3 coeliacs) and they'd purposely created some food items for us to allow us to have the main menu items but with GF accompaniments.

Just loved our visit, a beautiful meal & very friendly ladies. We were so surprised to find a 5 star resort out here. The view was wonderful even in the rain, so how fantastic would it be on a summer day. A must place to visit.

Arrived just as lunch was finishing and they weren't able to accommodate us at all (we understand dinner prep was needed but the place was completely empty, it was a weekday and we asked for anything cold and quick, like a cheese plate). Waited at the bar to buy bags of chips instead and took forever/seemed to be a huge hassle. Friends have had pretty average experiences there previously too. Not enthused.

Absolutely love the getaway here. The environment was so quiet and green and untouched when I visited. The staff were lovely. I drove here from North Queensland in Winter 2017 and the best view I got of the entirety of the 10 weeks of my trip was the view over the lake from the breakfast table in the lodge. I will be returning again.

We had the cheapest room option, in preparation for abseiling off Gordon Dam the next morning, which was basic — but more than enough for what we needed. Fantastic spot with outstanding views from the cosy, wood-heated restaurant/ bar area. Nice place!

I booked a 3 night stay here for my partner last xmas to be taken in Feburary 2017, my partner took ill and was diagnosed with cancer and has been too ill with radiation and chemo treatment, and cancer spreading to take the trip, I rang and spoke to staff re management about reimbursing the money under the circumstanses and said yes we will be in touch. Never heard a thing only to ring again and to be told previous management have gone. Once again was told leave in with me and will get back to you later today. That was one call from me and one call from my partner, never getting back to us. We have enough worry and financial strain without being fobbed off why cant you just be honest Not Impressed The owner did read this and commented that it was not good enough was going to look into it. Never hesrd a thing…

Wonderful staff and great facilities! The staffs were very helpful during our stay and this helped us to know where to explore in the wilderness.

As a worker in the area, I attend this establishment regularly. After a consistent almost 2 years, the lodge has become a bit hit and miss in recent times. Understandably, a change of staff can cause some upsets, but I'm not sure that excuses the poor customer service that comes with the almost too casual attitude that's ingrained into the culture. Hopefully the new wave of staff, from general manager down, will bring this place back up to the standard it has been in the past.

Great place to get away from it all. Now has Optus phone reception, but unfortunately no Telstra. The drive is great if you want to take your car or bike out on the weekend.

Most beautiful views from public areas and some accommodation rooms. Lovely walk close by and a walk over the nearby Gordon Dam (10 min drive) is a must do.

Its an amazing place for a visit. The majestic scenery will absolutely take your breath away. I stayed in a lake view room which was lovely but I must say I was disappointed with the food, lack of variety and the price.

Very quiet mid week. Simple but pleasant lodging, though ours faced the parking area rather than the lake. Lovely dining hall with a nice restaurant and bar with beer on tap. Wish we were staying for a few nights rather than just the one. Fabulous views. Lovely staff too!

Our accomodation was warm, clean and comfortable. The bar and restaurant was warm and inviting and the food was fantastic! The staff were very accomodating and friendly. Lake Pedder is spectacular and the walks around the area vary from short easier ones to more challenging… but you must be prepared for all weather and wear good shoes and clothing for wet and cold conditions. Stay for two nights, it's a long drive but worth all the effort!

The lodge is quite comfortable even though the rooms are very basic, and the restaurant serves excellent food. Relaxing in front of the open fire with a nice wine and snow outside is perfect. There is an indoor heated swimming pool too.

Quite place. Hotel with restaurant. Indoor pool, ping pong, badminton can be played until 7pm for free. Possibility to rent kayak for 25$ an hour per person. Internet is not free Cheap rooms without window are sad, the ones with lake view are better. Nice view of the lake from restaurant. Be aware the hotel is far (40-60 km) after starting point of the main tracks, so better to do the hike then go to hotel if U hv only 1 day, rather than go to hotel then come back.

Stopped here to get information about trails in the area. Staff were very nice even though we weren't staying at the lodge. Inside was super nice and clean, rooms and restaurant looked nice from the outside. Had parking and petrol.

Wonderful location, acceptable motel style accommodation, lounge and restaurant good BUT check your credit card charges carefully before leaving and retain your receipts. Getting a refund for overcharges, double charges, etc. Can be painful.

Simon and his crew of staff do an impeccable job to make you feel warm and welcome to their special place on the globe. Water views are to die for. Amenities are modern and lots of activities to do in the area from water sports on the lake to walking in the bush to abseiling down the dam wall. If you prefer indoors they have indoor heated pool with volleyball court, as well as table tennis.

Meals are amazing here! Will definitely be coming back.

No mobile connection is a plus because one can enjoy the view uninterrupted. The staff at the Lodge know the area well and are interested in your journey from the outside world. Terrific Tasmanian Scotch selection with a chef preparing your meal or you can can depending on your accommodation. There is fuel available. The road to the lodge was built by Engineers and its a pleasant drive. Skill up on Trout fishing and bring your tackle. Breathe.
