Noisy and substandard accommodation not as advertised. Stated 4 star closer to 3. Wotif only showed good reviews. Every afternoon and evening had to shut balcony doors to reduce some of the outdoor noise, no peace and quiet at Rose Bay Resort, though the so called Rose Bay Resort Body Corporate By-Laws stated ‘Occupiers must not create noise likely to interfere with the peaceful enjoyment of other guests. ’ After 2 nights of this my husband wanted to pack up and leave even though we’d paid for a weeks accommodation in advance, and it took two days of travelling to get there, he’d had enough! Used dishwasher once, and it started leaking. Noticed decaying seals around the door of dishwasher. Husband thought it was leaking underneath from pipes (as well). Even though this was repaired after we told the manager, whenever the dishwasher was on, it smelt of mould. My husband preferred to hand wash the dishes instead plus it did not clean properly and dishes had to be re-washed. The racks of the dishwasher were also rusting, where the plastic had come off. Went to use the washing machine, it did not drain or spin, had to empty the water into a bucket and get my husband to take the heavy wet washing to the communal washing machine, though we’d paid extra for an apartment with these facilities. Told the manager about the issues with the dishwasher and washing machine. I would have expected their appliances should be checked prior to anyone staying there and the dishwasher with its mouldy smell and decaying seals should have been replaced ages ago. Asked if it usually so noisy, he said we have to put up with noise between Christmas and New Years and suggested we close our balcony doors and put on the air conditioner. I said we are already doing this. It appears that their corporate body bylaws of not creating noise means nothing to the manager and some of the other occupants. The place was advertised as 4 Star — we could not see this — apart from the appliances which did not work, the vent was falling down in the shower, the bath tap, and bathroom handles were corroding. Mirror was losing its mirror finish around edging. Bits coming apart from bottom of vanity. Balcony lounge chair should have been binned and other rusty bits around the apartment eg latches. No sound proofing, continual scraping of chairs either above us or next door. Light on all night outside bathroom window, had to close bathroom door to reduce light when trying to sleep but could still see light around blinds in bathroom window between bath and bedroom. Could not close bedroom door as it would not latch and it kept banging through the night. Air conditioner next door was continually running, we could hear from bathroom, another reason to close bathroom and bedroom doors. As well as the noisy adults late at night we had to put up with barking dogs not being controlled by owners. Though the beach had signs stating dogs were not allowed and it was a $2000 maximum fine, it made no difference. Even the manager walked his dog on the beach. A dog owner was observed allowing his dog to poo on the beach and trying to cover it with his foot. When walking along the beach one morning we found dog’s poo on the beach. We left one day earlier, if we had not paid in advance, we would have left after two nights, will never pay in advance again using a booking app. My husband was so looking forward to this holiday, he had plans to celebrate his 70th birthday on the balcony overlooking the ocean, that didn’t happen we left on his birthday and found a small place near the Bruce highway halfway between Bowen and Brisbane which was quieter than Rose Bay Resort. When I checked reviews on Rose Bay Resort and Wotif, even though there are 49 reviews, it only shows a small number and only good reviews for some reason.
