Hostel

The cool thing is that it is a hostel with a camping area together. It seemed more of a party hostel. It has been really chaotic, nosy and dirty, though. The staff was very slow and seemed bored or bad tempered.

It felt like I was at a resort. Outdoor bar with dance floor. Swimming pool in the centre. Option to camp outside or get a room. Tour office nearby to help book a great barrier reef tours. Walking distance to beach and right on the main street for shops, pubs, restaurants. Large kitchen and outdoor dining tables. Good location and great value.

Decent spot if you just wanna do some camping near the lagoon. There are a lot of bathrooms and the kitchen is fairly spacious as well as the outdoor dining area. Furthermore they have a pool and hammocks as well. However, a real letdown is that the kitchen is very poorly equipped along with the power outlets not working from time to time.

Stayed in a 6 dorm for 30$ a night. Way too expensive! There are lockers in the room, but they are locked and the reception doesn’t have the keys, so completely useless. Nobody came to clean the toilet/shower (en suite) in the three days I‘ve been there. It‘s not allowed to bring your own alcohol, but their bar is always closed. Out of about 10 washing machines just 4 were working. It’s cold during the nights now, but no blankets. And so on…

Very big hostel, split with nomads. Busy bar, great staff and clean rooms. Not enough dryers though, so it gets a little cramped at washing time.

Definitely the best hostel in Airlie Beach. The place is huge, some kind of a little village in the middle of the green. 2 pools, a bar, hammocks and palm trees everywhere. The only bad thing is the kitchen, it's quite small for a place this big, and it's usually hard to find kitchen tools or clean pots. Apart from that this place is amazing!

Amenities are dirty and caranvan sites are really small. The city itself is pretty cool, but stay away from the nightclubs. They totally rip you off, and the bouncers are pretty rude and discriminating.

This pace is just great. Even though they hold your $5 hostage for a spoon. The fridge is always overflowing and spilling its contents out when you open the door. So. Many people. Kitchen is a great place to make friends and meet hot guys who can cook yay. Pretty nice pool and laundry services. You guys are alright in my book. Got a good thing going here.

Disgusting! Never stay here! Have stayed there once and never again this place is the dodgiest place out there. Even for the low accommodation price is definitely not worth it. They do not change there keys if they have been previously lost so ppl have free way into your room as soon as you head out at night. All my belongings were stolen and Wanderers couldn't care less. Not to mention the state of the room was woeful.

We were with a campervan and 1 tent for 3 nights in this campsite in February… The location is very good (from where 1 star), but the campsite is really poorly maintained… Common dirty, toilet and showers also, not to mention that some locks are broken and that all the tablets where you could ask qques things are broken or have been removed… The turf (or what looked like it) was not maintained. In short, fortunately the pool and the showers of the lagoon were there…

Had a great time at the XBase! Spent a week in the camping area. Lot of activities, bit noisy if you want to rest early but activities don't last all night. Had a very good negotiated price for a Whitsundays tour. Plus, free parking use. Next to Airlie Beach Lagoon. When I was there (Sept. ) plenty of arrivals everyday so better book before.

A resort for backpackers! Clean and spacious rooms! The common areas are quite ideal for the. Quality — price! If you are looking for a place to have fun it is great, but if you want more peace of mind it is not the place.

Rooms are nice but the hygiene is very poor. In the bathroom is a yellowish pool in the corner, spiders and other insects can be found everywhere (even a lizard). Many old cobwebs hang on the walls.

Comfortable beds and close to everything. It's just not that quaint and doesn't have free Wi-Fi in the rooms or breakfast included.

Ne sorry didn't find that good. Camping too dense, noisy, too much party…

+ rooms are large enough + good grace new room are available on request (however same shortcomings) + free Wi-Fi in the lobby + friendly staff — check in only with cumbersome app possible — room very dirty, bed linen spotted — thousands of ants everywhere — mold in a united En corners and furniture — asbestos in the building (see pictures) — broken things are not renewed — attention extra costs! For example: 6 dollars per night for car parking (filthy place under trees), 4 dollars for 24 hrs WLAN (no high speed) in the rooms, etc.
— Long waiting times at the reception — rundown, uncultivated grounds (could be so beautiful…)

Location great but everything else very poor. We have stayed at many campsites over the past 3 months and this was by far the worst. We were staying in a van and the toilets/ showers we were given access to could only be described as nauseating. Weren’t cleaned in 3 days, urine overspilling onto the floor, constant smell of poo, no soap to wash hands, very unhygienic. We also saw a used condom floating in the pool. Staff on reception didn’t care about the level of service there were providing. New staff members not given correct training meaning check-in took over an hour. On check-out we were served by a very rude, obnoxious person (bearded, greying man) that was just the cherry on top of the horrendous cake that was our stay. Would strongly advise looking at other options.

Super location room slightly too thin walls no matter where something happens you hear it plenty of open space beautiful pool room relatively clean staff very net.

Man has to download an app to check in, and that "free" Wi-Fi doesn't work, you have to pay!

Enjoyed every minute at X Base. Staff were friendly always there to help you. Houses keeping was slack, but our room was nice close to everything. I definitely will stay there again. Recommend X Base Soon.

Very large, 2 swimming pools, 2 kitchens, bar, private parking.

Fantastic facilities for all types of camping and backpacking. We stayed for 3 nights in a powered and unpowered camper van site, the amenities were well maintained and regularly cleaned. There was some noise from the local bars in the evenings but nothing too off putting. It's a 5 minute walk from the bars and pubs, great way to get a feel for Airlie. Would highly recommend, staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Nothing can beat my stay at Base in Airlie. Really good vibes, epic staff, and an amazing room… not to mention the pool. It's at the best location in Airlie as well, right by the water, among all the bars… can't ask for more! MUST STAY HERE!

The place is a dump. Go anywhere else. Kitchen is a disaster, staff can barely manage to check people in and out. Room fan is nearly falling from the ceiling and lights don’t all work in the room. Definitely magnums down the street where the rooms have AC, especially in summer.

Ok hostel. Didn't quite like waking up to loads of little bugs on the wall next to me though.

Basic hostel, nothing really special, beds were good and they have a travel agency.

Hired a private three bed room for the night. It had everything we needed but wasn't anything fancy. The room was quite spacious. It was really close to the centre of Airlie beach which was convenient. They had a large room to leave your luggage during the day while you were out which was handy.

This place was the worst we have been staying during our roadtrip at the eastcoast. — staff was unfriendly — trip to the whitsundays they recommanded wasnt good at all (180$) — dirty facilities and no lights in bathrooms (was a lot of fun having a shower in the evening:/) — half of the washers were out of order — it feels like a party hostel and Camping Park so there was garbage everywhere and people were extremely loud throughout the night Would not recommand this place at all! Doesnt even deserve one Star!

Great spot for party going back packers with plenty of bars and clubs nearby. It's also quiet enough for those who want an early night, and the shower and bathroom facilities are great.

Backpacker hostel / better campsite. Cabins are run down and its noisy due to the bar. Lovely garden and swimming pool, but thats about it. If you re not into partying, head somewhere else.

Nice rooms. Air conditioned, sink as well. Good location as well.

Comfortable beds, spacious rooms and good nature around. I just didn't like the breakfast that they specifically offered for us (in the package we paid), specially because of the place we had to eat. They just put some milk, cereal and bread in a table in the front desk and you have to eat there while every other guests are watching you, it's weird.

Check in was at 2pm, even if the room was vacant. They do offer a free welcome drink (very bad), however it must be after 9pm No alcohol drinks to be brought to the hotel. Got room 70 which is the last room (far from entrance). This hotel does have a very good potential. They do have a very good 10$ food and drink offer which I used it for 3 times, all was good except the 3rd food was not good. Big basic room with minibar, kitchen. If next room whisper I will know what they are saying. Check out 10am Stayed there for 2 nights from 28 to 30 May.

Good place to camp cheaply if you are doing a boat Trip to whiteheaven Beach.

Very large place, nice air conditioned rooms. The kitchens were small and the pools were too warm to enjoy!

The service is absolute disaster! You can no longer by unfriendly talk, it's inhuman, how is this dealt with the people!

Very nice hotel, everything was reasonably priced and the food available was great.

Clean and comfortable with a great location. The room was extremely spacious and came as a huge surprise due to the reasonable cost. Didn't feel like there was a hostel side to the place at all, the pool was fantastic and rarely could we not get a sun bed.

$10 deposit for plates. Slow stoves. Amenities not clean Unfriendly customer service Some camping sites completely dark.

The van Park is big enough but everyone starts as he wishes, is often a mess. Little shower to the present world and I've never had hot water. Well located.

Clean & cheap. Friendly helpful staff who can help you book tours as well.

Not a good hostel. Resort is deceptively nice. Outside looks like a resort hotel that was remade into a hostel (so the rooms have private baths), but that's the only redeeming quality. Service staff is super rude. Got a "for f%$! sake" from one of them when we were trying to arrange fair payment between our group and no apologies (plus a very rude, stern voice) when I asked for my bags out of their storage and they couldn't do it. Speaking of, you are only allowed to get your bags out of storage once every half hour. That is way more inconvenient than it sounds and they are ALWAYS late to unlock the door. Had to wait 15 min with a fully loaded car just to get two bags so we could leave. Even if they aren't busy, they won't make an exception. Worst part are the beds. Our sheets were gross looking so we got extra sets from the front for every bed. My pillow had a blood stain on it. One of the other people had a stain on theirs too. Best part was waking up the next morning with bug bites all over my face (about 12 medium sized bumps). I was the only one with them, in a room of 6 people, so I know they were in the bed and not mosquitoes. There are a million hostels in Airlie. Stay somewhere else.

Hostel is good and fun, right in the centre of Airlie Beach, you can also leave the car in their parking area for $12 while touring the Whitsundays Only downsides is that someone stole our coolbag (had around $30 worth of stuff) which was in the communal fridge and all of a sudden we weren't feeling safe leaving everything there while away! And toilets/showers at the campsite (far left) are not maintained, most of them were all out of order and unlockable, without lights and very dirty.

Really nice rooms and comfy beds — nice to have a proper duvet! Only negative is reception, friendly staff but normally one person and from what I saw over 4 days, often a Q.

Stayed in campervan — only negative was toilets for campers which weren't very clean.

At Base I just spent one night. But I slept really good because of the new mattress I had in my bed. Besides the restrooms were clean as well. You stay there in bungalows. Best thing about it is that they offer you a Meal for only ten dollars in the bar directly next to the Hostel. I had a steak with a pint of beer which was a amazing for 10 dollars.
