Called to ask about when I’d be receiving my bond then was told it’s being kept for a charge of a 3rd room that wasn’t even used. Booked a 2 bedroom apartment not a 3 bedroom one. Claimed they had to clean the 3rd room when it wasn’t even entered by any of us staying in the room, asked for photo evidence of what they had to clean up to be told they don’t have to provide that lady on the phone was rude and not helpful. Wouldn’t recommend. W⚓️’s.

Perfect location. The food in the Drift and Wood Restaurant is to die for. Best restaurant so far. Nice people around.

Very Private rooms in the a leafy resort. Private plunge pool was awesome. And so close to the beach.

We had an overnight stay at the motel. The room was nice but only had toiletries for 1 person and there were 3 adults staying in the room. Also the walls are paper thin. We had a lady next door who talked loudly and laughing on the phone for hours and when I knocked on her door several times to tell her to keep the noise down but she continued. As there is no after hours reception (only for urgent issues and charge $150 to attend onsite) I could only yell at her through the wall to “shut up”. Had to have an early night to get up early and drive to Townsville the next morning. Very unhappy with this stay and I would not recommend staying anywhere, including this motel, if there is no after hours reception.

The beach house we stayed at was beautiful, large and modern. Great pools and a short walk to the beach. The food at the reasturant was delicious.

Lovely spot to stay. Comfortable beds, everything you need. Friendly staff and compliment to the chef, chefs. Food was delicious

What a beautiful property! Beautiful gardens, quality and comfortable accommodation and and unobtrusive access to the beach! You must try the restaurant while staying there! Best experience I have ever had in 1770!

Absolutely gorgeous and spacious and look forward to a fantastic week here, the receptionists and Managers are fabulous so friendly and can not do enough for you. Would not stay anywhere else.

Just got back from staying at Sandcastles for the last 4 days.
Couldn’t ask for better service from the friendly staff.

The food at the Drift and Wood restaurant is the best we’ve had, we ate there a couple of times.

Love this place… we have been here twice we will visit again… the only thing I wish pets are allowed… Brian and Jet will be a good added guest…

Rooms are large and high ceilings. We were in the ones above the reception. Steps are a bit of a killer but rooms worth it. Nice and clean but tiles chipped badly in kitchen area. Lounge kitchen area is huge. A bigger t. V. Is maybe warranted as well. Lovely walk to beach ab d pool area. Nic3 to have a pool that is large the enough to swim laps beside the restaurant. Service at bar and restaurant was great anf food amazing. Fell in love with lamb pizza.

Stayed in 3bdroom beach house from 22nd to 29th Dec 2019. It was heaven, had washing machine, dryer, bbq, king beds and the breeze was amazing. We walked about 50m to the beach, but the pool was so good we spent hours there. Staff were so nice, so many working on the lovely gardens and pool. The unit had everything — coffee machine, ours had air con, tvs in every bedroom and little touches like bags to borrow to shop or carry stuff to the beach. Will be coming back. Loved it so much. Thanks Sancastles for a beautiful holiday.

Nice rooms, clean bathrooms,,. Beautiful swimming pool,. Really nice to have a restaurant on site. Close to the beach. Beautiful native foliage to look at. Though l would suggest that the motel, puts in some fans in their guest rooms, as the AC direction flaps cannot be changed to upwards. So becomes very cold. So it has to be turned off, and then rooms become stuffy really quickly. No nice happy medium at night.

Great staff. Loved the room and the restaurant. So close to beach and shops.

Was nice and simple small room. Easy check in, no undercover parking though. Only bad thing was that we had someone enter our room without knocking (dunno if house keeping or a random lady) when it was locked during the morning. So don’t like lack of privacy. Unsure if all keys match rooms or door wasn’t secure. Beautiful shower though and bathroom. Austar wouldn’t work. Overall would stay again though.

The beaches are quiet. Not too manypeiple. Not too far from the resort to the beach.

Fabulous staff. Restaurant owners went above and beyond to make sure my dietary requirements were met.

After a long drive it was great to check in to our apartment and find that the fridge had been stocked as well as breakfast for the 5 days. The apartment was tastefully decorated with everything we would need to made our stay enjoyable. It was a short 3 minute stroll to the beach where we surfed, snorkeled, rode our push bikes and body surfed. It is just a short stroll along the beach to the caravan park for a great coffee and a chat with other holiday makers. A thoroughly enjoyable holiday that we hope to make a regular destination.

Sandcastles is like no other, and metres from beach which suited us. Spacious Beach House in a tropical setting with the sound of the ocean waves is magic. The Green Turtle cafe is a very handy place to have drinks at the bar, lovely meals with friendly staff making sure you are Happy. In all, the Staff are there to assist your every need and advise of the wonderful places you must see. We have booked again for 3 months next year we loved it that much.

The room was lovely and big with plenty of lighting. It did smell very strongly of chlorine/bleach though. We had requested a cot and it was in our room not set up with bedding on top. We attempted to put it together and it appeared broken. We went downstairs for assistance but the office was closed up. Luckily we found another cot in the hallway and used that. Dinner at the restaurant was lovely however our experience of breakfast was not. I requested my extras on the side however it was delivered with oily bacon all over my pancakes which I was going to share with my daughter (hence why I wanted them on the side). My husbands poached egg was incredibly over cooked and the rest of his meal was very oily. It was quite expensive for what it was and we certainly wouldn’t eat breakfast there again.

We stayed in Beach House 3. The staff were friendly and helpfull. Because it was so relaxing we extended our stay for a further week. The beach house was very clean and could sleep 6 but was perfect for two. The pool and spa were fantastic, we also had front and back entrances which was handy and the king size bed was made for sleeping in luxury with dual pillow top. The furniture was modern and comfortable. In fact after travelling for 8 weeks we decided that Sandcastles at Agnes was our best accommodation to date and rated it 10/10. A must stay in Agnes Water!

We just finished our 3 night stay at sandcastles with our 5 kids. Very disappointed in our room and certainly wasn’t what we booked. We were told we were in a studio room in the main building next our families. When we checked in we were located along way away in a apartment that hadn’t been cleaned nor looked after in sometime. There were no curtains in the lounge with all to see in our lounge and the beds were broken and furniture very dated and poorly kept. Ants were around the bathroom edges. We questioned what happened but really didn’t get an answer or apology. There were a large flight of stairs in the middle of our lounge making it dangerous for the kids. We paid $185 per night and I expected a lot more. I wasn’t looking for flash just basic clean studio room what I booked. After speaking with the cleaners I believe they double sold our room and moved us to what previously may of been staff quarters. Great location with the access to the beach only 100 metres away also a great cafe and great service. Just lacking the basics with accommodation.

From the moment we arrived we found the staff to be very friendly & knowledgeable of their area. On booking in the receptionist informed us of places to see and eat at. Our beach house was very comfortable with everything you would require. This made for a very enjoyable family getaway! I would definitely stay again.

I like staying at Sandcastles & as per the title, this is why I keep coming back. Issues for the business traveler: Noise between units, especially the timber/plaster walls. My advise if you are going to be noisy, turn TV on. (I will leave this to your imagination). Get an end room if possible. Not enough power points near bed or near TV, as a business traveler with multiple devises I like to use my phone for alarm, or emails at small table which doesn't have access to power outlet. Last visit I had an issue with cold air coming through metal louvers, as they didn't shut properly, so had to run heater all night. Lastly, if you go for a walk down the beach, there is nowhere to wash the sand off your feet? Overall, for a short summer stay, the motel rooms are quite acceptable.

The beach house was exactly what I had hoped — sound of surf and and amazing variety of bird calls. We rose before dawn to hear the dawn chorus and then took a short walk to the beach to see and photograph the sunrise. Easy for a swim or a beach walk along the extensive Agnes Water/1770 beach. Also a great restaurant — Green Turtle — pity it does not open for lunch.

They were an incredible staff and the rooms were amazing. Pools could be better heated though. It could keep the business up in the winter. Wifi could have been better as well.

Very modern accommodation and spacious beach house — loved the furniture in Beach house 1. We will definitely be back and are passing on to family and friends. The unit had everything you need. Love the large open areas and didn't feel like you were cramped with 3 families in the beach house. Very spacious and you didn't feel cramped with 3 families as the house was very open planned.

Love the atmosphere of Agnes, and the hotel was very nice and reminded me of a Bali villa. However did not like being harassed and threatened to be kicked out and be " homeless for night" as one of the men said at 2pm! about our group making too much noise? We were playing a card game and obviously laughing, I get being told to be quiet if it was late at night, but 2pm is ridiculous! that made our afternoon go down a notch. For that I doubt I will be staying at Sandcastles again.

We came to Agnes waters 1770 for a day and loved it so much we decided to stay. We stayed in the cheapest room that sandcastles had left and it was definitely worth every cent and more. We Loved that it has its own entrance to the beach and very close to shops, cafes and restaurants. Very good aircon and shower pressure was good too. Loved every minute of it.

Good for one night. We had a chance to meet a Roach:) Easy access to the beach.

Great position, lovely pool, very spacious and clean 3 bedroom unit (unit 2), comfortable beds, excellent facilities for home cooking or a short walk to the restaurant. The restaurant was so relaxed … our 2 year old grandson enjoyed playing in the children's corner. The food was delicious, nicely cooked and presented. Staff are friendly and helpful … will definitely use again.

A splendid layout to the sea, luxurious rooms at a reasonable price, with mini kitchen that would win to have 2 large plates, a long knife and a spatula. A sufficient number of outlets for charging, a powerful Wi-Fi network. In the room a manual of the Ultras precise regulations to read well. For the inconvenience that is minimal, but to know how to get away from the workout room if you want to stay in bed late the sound and the music can be disturbing, the access to the pool little be restricted during the broadcast of swimming lessons. Does not specify on the booking sites that access to the cellular network has little or no blankets. In case of late arrival, unable to join the Administration so well download the confirmation mail with the procedure to follow. Cheerful and smiling staff, places of tranquility off season.

The bed and pillows were comfortable, the interiors were attractive. The bedroom would benefit from curtains on the windows. Some maintenance was needed eg some of the lights didn't work, fly screen was coming off one of the windows and the sliding screen doors were off the tracks. The Green Turtle restaurant had great food and service. Reception was friendly and helpful.

Very nice motel close to both Agnes and 1770. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. My room was ready early so it was great to be able to check in earlier. Staff are friendly. Motel has direct beach access to a very beautiful and quiet beach. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here.

Well placed resort/motel for shops, dining and fuel. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Beach was a short walk on a solid pathway. Pool was big, plenty of seating options. (A little warm in the water, but expected in Summer. Shade sails may help with keeping the water temp down a bit). Room (motel unit) was spacious, good bathroom, shower was awesome! Kitchen adequate for short stay. Could have been a sofa/couch for seating, other than sitting on beds, which were too firm for us. Overall, we'd stay again, but ask for a softer mattress if available.

We have never stopped into Agnes Waters but decided to break our trip home from Brisbane to Mackay. We were pleasantly surprised. AW and 1770 is such a beautiful place with lovely sandy beaches, clear waters and the town still has a sleepy feel too often lost with an increase in popularity. The people were friendly and the facilities were good. I would like to spend a little more time exploring the area and it is definitely on our list for another time.

We stayed at Sandcastles for 6 nights in a beach house. The accomodation was excellent, absolutely no complaints. It had every thing we needed, very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable, not one bad nights sleep. The location itself was spot on five minutes walk from the shops and two minutes to the beach. I would definitely recommend Sandcastles to family and friends.

Stayed in a Garden Villa for 3 nights, late check in worked a treat. Nice and peaceful location, great location for families. 500 metres from the shooping areas of agnes waters and 200 metres walk to the beach through access path from the resort. Wifi acces was a little bit patchy in places and took a while before I could first use it but once connected it had good speed. Room had all the amenties you need for a long stay.

My wife and I really enjoyed our long weekend away at Agnes Water and staying at Sandcastles. The staff were very friendly and warm, the food at the Green Turtle was excellent and the accommodation was great. The only very small difficulty I found was the King Size bed was a bit harder than what I’m accustomed to and I realised I should have brought my own pillow. I also thought perhaps some pictures on the walls might of added a bit of colour and warmth to the room we were in. However, my wife and I really enjoyed our time at Sandcastles and will certainly return again and would consider making this a regular place to stay. We would also highly recommend it to our friends and family.

Staff at reception made us feel unwelcome from the get-go. Rude and aggressive. Just disgusting. We booked through air bnb and they mustn't like that. Great position though, and nice units. As you can see by the Sandcastles reply, there is simply zero common courtesy. The groundperson was a rude arrogant pig, and the receptionists were a pair of bitches. As a person who was treated like scum by Sandcastles staff, I have every right to review this business. I grew up visiting Agnes Waters and I am afraid this is the worst you will get. I suggest dont work in this industry if you are a prick.

Stayed at sandcastles over the weekend the only complaint I have is the maintenance man let my children in pool area with out them being with an adult. My youngest was 5. I was bout 100m behind them lucky cos It could have been a disaster. No one should open pool gates for no kids unless they are with an adult.

We are currently staying at sandcastles resort in one of the Beach House apartments. The resort is quite large, as are the apartments. It is well located being very close to the beach and a short walk from the shops. The attached cafe/restaurant serves pretty good food at a reasonable price although there was a bit of a wait when we went (it was a saturday night so it was busy with both dine in and pizza take aways)

The ribs were fantastic and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Nice resort close to the beach with friendly and helpful staff. It is easy walking distance to main beach and town/shops etc.

Our stay was lovely as we stayed in a beach house with ample space and the option of going fir a dip in the private pool. But forgot to bring the cozzie! Totally recommend Sandcastles and the Green Turtle restuarant! Thirsty Turtle on tap is excellent!

Not happy with our garden Villa the motel rooms are bigger and nicer our room is small and no microwaves not happy at all.

Great service — very friendly & helpful staff who went out of their way to lend hand. The location is ideal as well with direct beach access and only a couple of minutes walk to town.

To expensive for room floor dirty surrounds are seedy needs a good cleanup.

Dinner was faultless, my partner and I had the pork belly and the BBQ chicken pizza. Both were amazing. The service was excellent and the staff friendly. Planning to back again very soon!

Beach houses are unique, beautiful, spacious and well equipped. Ours had ceiling fans but no aircon which might not be great during summer. Outdoor pool is nice although some of the furniture was broken. There is a Restaurant on site which is convenient, but I would recommend checking that they have plenty of food when you book. Our group were seated, perused the menu, and when it came time to place an order, were told there was no chicken, fish or steak, and only minimal veges, but that they do pizza! Was disappointing, but there are other dining options nearby. Beach is a sand dune away and is beautiful. Definitely recommend the beach houses.

Great rooms good pool beach access.

Big makeover for this place since we first stayed here a year ago. Best located resort in town (secluded, but only 7 mins walk to town and 4 mins by a leafy path to beach). So we'd stay here anyway, but new management has made the experience that much better. Reception intent on making our stay a really good one and our unit was beautifully presented, as was the tropical garden all around it. Magic spot.

Great Experience and Place to Visit.

Wonderful town wonderful resort, some lights weren't working in our apartment and our plunge pool could have been scooped over the top to make it look fresh. However in saying that it was beautifully presented and they have great staff. We have stayed there many times and I wont doubt that wont be the last time a great get away and walk straight to the beach so relaxing!

Positives: Friendly staff, nice resort, big room. Negatives: Room stank of bleach, bed was 2 singles side-by-side and really uncomfortable, froze all night as there was no Doona. Would I stay again… unfortunately not.

Describe your experience, well, here goes and you may not like it. On arrival at Agnes Waters early evening, we checked into the motel and were met by a lovely receptionist who was very friendly and gave us a room. I told the young lady that we were going over to Lady Musgrave Is. For 2 weeks and gave her the return date to hold another room for us, however, I did mention that the boat doesn't always come out to the island to pick us up on the due return date, either due to bad weather or not enough bookings for the boat to travel. She was understanding and said that it wouldn't be a problem and would make a note on our booking that this might be the case. Due to a death in the family we had to return a day early. We drove from the port after a long tiring day packing up camping gear and then unloading it from the boat into our car. We drove to Sandcastles to ask for a room but were told they were all booked out! OK, no-one's fault, I totally understood the situation. However, I was then told in the same breath that I wouldn't receive a refund for the $120 I paid upfront because they require 72 hours notice! @! Well, did my blood boil. I was dirty, tired, fragile (due to death) and not very understanding.

Perfect perfect perfect! sandcastles is awesome! great location just park the car and forget it. Walk to the beach, shops and everywhere else. the 3 bed beach house is huge! very clean and fresh. Superb kitchen and furnishings, great outdoor area, plunge pool. And magnificent gardens. main pool area is beautiful with two bali huts and bbq's cant wait to return and see how the revamped kahunas turns out, definitely the place to stay and enjoy agnes/1770. Rebecca at the front desk couldn't be more friendly and helpful. will definitely return! :-).
