Really lovely staff and a chill party atmosphere. Also a great location — close to the clubs and bars and most importantly surfer's paradise beach! Dorms are clean and I really appreciated the cosy blanket now it's getting colder. Would definitely stay here again!

This hostel is one of the better around the gold coast, it may be a little out dated in places however the atmosphere is incredible! All members of staff are fun and friendly always willing to help out. This hostel also has a bar with cheap drinks and a very friendly young bar tend! Not only that but the hostel has a cafe for when you need your morning coffee or cannot be bothered to cook! The food is good and again the staff are friends and chatty. There is one member of staff that is really cute, ginger and purrs a lot, and will give cuddles to anyone … the hostel cat Brixton!

Awesome place to stay. Cheap accommodation and has a bar with cheap drinks and a takeaways with really nice food. Staff were really friendly and helpful Really chilled atmosphere and good vibes.

Very nice stay here! And there is everything in one place: swimming pool, bar, pools, snack. All the staff is so kind and helpful. Also there is parties every night. I recommend :)

Clean, cheap bar, friendly crowd. Definitely one of the better hostels I have stayed in. The kitchen has all the equipment you need. And the price is good for gold coast consisting I booked very last minute (same day). The 30$ club night is also very good value. Would recommend x.

Too expensive for what they offer, room only have fan, no air conditioning, they only have 1 bathroom/toilet per room, so if you stay in 20 bed room, imagine. Also I have stay here 4 night and nobody have come to clean the room so the floor is dirty you can see sand everywhere. Not recommend this place. The staff is amazing but the accommodation itself is not.

It's such a shame that this hostel is awful because the staff are nice enough and it's in a great location but the facilities are atrocious. Most of the plug sockets in our room didn't work, luckily I have an extension cable but everyone in the room was sharing this and I'm sure not everyone would have their own cable! The kitchen is an absolute mess, there are not enough pots or pans or cutlery or ANYTHING the kitchen is so small I've had to wait an hour before just to cook my dinner as there aren't enough hobs/equipment available. Along with this the mattresses are of appalling quality and the beds make so much noise everyone is woken up if the person above/below them rolls over let alone gets up and comes back from the toilet. The pillows are also old and yellow stained and the feathers clumped from being damaged by heat in the wash and should have been thrown out years ago. The toilet lights are also automatic along with the fan with a door that did not close waking people up at night. It's basically like staying at a bar not a hostel, if you want some space or time away from everything there is no opportunity to do so as most people are being loud and drinking most nights which is heavily encouraged.

Rules, rules, rules… Hardly paradise. Unless a creaky bunkbed, dirty kitchen and unpleasant fellow guests. Can't take in your own alcohol, can't take food into the rooms, I'm surprised there isn't a rule about not having fun, too. Also, only one toilet for guests (excluding the ones in the rooms) by the pool? One toilet? Despite having a bar, one toilet for all? Get outta here.

A bit run down in places but has an amazing vibe and super friendly staff. The staff clean all day but can still get messy due to us Backpackers, I stayed in a large dorm which they clean twice a day which I thought was good. Small kitchen but still manageable. Overall it’s a fun hostel with a great atmosphere.

Rooms and cooking areas a bit cramped with one bathroom/shower between 14+ people is a nightmare. However overall the hostel seems clean and has a nice pool. Bar is a bit lacking with only bottled beers and cocktails. Good location and good for a short stay.

Noisy, dirty, lots of cockroaches, bed bugs and outrageous staff. Never again.

Better are pretty hard. The location is pretty good, the rooms are clean and the service is also fine. There is also a swimming pool and a restaurant/bar.

My stay here was excellent; was upgraded to a four bed from a twenty bed dorm with no extra charge by the receptionist who was also very helpful all round. Had a lovely stay, went out with everyone in the hostel and had a lovely night too! It's a very laid back hostel, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the location is 5 mins walk from town tops. Highly recommend.

Good place with decent amenities. Not the nicest but doable. Good atmosphere even during the week. One night I came home and someone was sleeping in my bed! I guess that's what you get when you select the 20-person room. For the price, worth a stay. I was also impressed that they had PBR available at the bar. Oh how I've missed the glorious taste of American Tin Water.

Rooms were spacious and clean enough but beds were quite shaky and loud with any movement. Lockers were super flimsy and could easily be pulled off the hinges, but were really roomy too. The shower was really good and powerful but the toilet light auto shut off quite quick if you weren't moving. The hammocks in the communal areas are a nice touch but allowing smoking on all the benches in the middle kinda ruined it for me a bit. There's a nice little TV room and some look tables, as well as a shelf you can swap books on, although the latter is pretty small. All communal areas have to be vacated at 12, even if you're not making noise, which is a bit annoying. Didn't use the kitchen but it seemed okay if a bit small, the fridge small was a bit lacking for the number of guests too.

It was ok but keep a super close eye on your stuff, don't even hang out your towel outside or it will get stolen. Same goes for food, keep it safe with you if you can. Its not too dirty and the rooms are ok, watch the fan though since the top bunk bed are close to the fan.

No refund key deposit 20 AUD I left the room key in our room at 7.30 am because of my bus time and I wrote an e-mail to request getting the deposit back. They did not answer anything. The staffs are long-term travelers. They are not responsible for the management of the hostel.

Pretty cozy stay. Would definitely recommend to people looking to make friends and go out at night. They have good deals to get into town with free and drinks and the like. Only downside is if you're actually looking for a good sleep it'll be hard to find.

Service was good, great location, very much for the young care free backpacker who isn't too bothered about where they stay but wants the fun social setting. We stayed in an apartment, which was a very good size. Bedding and sheets were not clean. Bathroom not clean. Crockery and utensils not clean. If you're looking for fun and to party, it could be a good choice. For a couple or someone wanting to chill out, I wouldn't recommend it.

Cheap and decent. Close to all the fun stuff and easy to get to. Good food and atmosphere. Worth a stay.

This hostel have a friendly and helpful staff, that also works really hard with getting the guests together with different activities and competitions. The courtyard and poolarea is great, a lot of couches and hammocks, pooltables and even a bar. I strongly recommend this hostel, my stay was great!

Very poorly run backpackers. The "General Manager" is rude and obnoxious. The staff have no customer service skills. My children stayed at this backpacker only to be treated like animals. They had belongings stolen from them, there wad no bedding except for a bottom sheet. When I asked Adam (General Manager) who was above him that I could deal with, as he was rude and completely unhelpful, he hung up on me I guess you pay for what you get "Pay peanuts get monkeys" they say. Would never recommend this place in one hundred years!

Backpackers in Paradise firstly and most importantly, has a great location, a few minutes walk from the beach, shops and nightlife that Surfers Paradise has to offer and be enjoyed. The hostel has a motel style room layout, with a central courtyard and bar with plenty of seating and places to relax, for example the hammocks. The pool is flanked by plenty of sunbeds and there is even an attached jacuzzi. A BBQ is even available for use. The rooms are spacious and cleaned daily. Security is provided overnight by the watchman, who also ensures noise is kept down while you are trying to sleep. Overall a great place to stay for a trip to Surfers!

I had so much fun at Backpackers in Paradise! Rooms get cleaned daily and all the staff are super friendly. The hostel is in such a good location. I will definitely be back.

I booked a week here and have stayed for 2 months! The staff are friendly and are always willing to help. They clean the rooms daily and all the communal areas are kept nice and tidy. Loads of tables and space outside to chill and hang out, massive pool with a little jacuzzi attached, pool tables and a cafe with great smoothies, coffee and food available. There's a bar with good drink prices and a charming Irish bartender who's not hard to look at! Basically everything you need and a great location 5 mins from the beach, shops and bars.

Asked them to hold on to my passport and they lost it. Very unprofessional!

If you're looking to make friends and have a great time doing so, BIP is the place for you! In a matter of three days, the staff and guests alike made me feel welcome and showed me a good time. Not to mention the location, unbeatable.

Stayed here a night or two every month on and off for the last few years wile doing interstate trips the staff used to be great and friendly, Now they are rude and no longer allow Australians to stay even if they have beds available and you have a "Back pack"! Surely thats illegal.

Ok well where to start… this was my first ever packers. To keep it short and sharp. We had a huge pool party, a wedding and sumo tournament, all in three days. The team working there were amazing, the drinks were cheap, the food was great, the kitchen was clean, the atmosphere was of the scale. Thanks guys I will be back SPREKON SIE D$&! K!

Great place! from the moment I arrived I knew I was going to enjoy my stay! I could tell from the off it is a very well run hostel, staff were all polite, my room was clean but needs a little updating and they also gave great advise on where to go on nights out as well as putting on there own stuff in the evening. Would stay again if I was ever back down that way.

Really cute hostel, I like the palm trees and the bar and kitchen are open all day. Really socaible areas and the nights out are better than I expected, was in a big dorm but still clean and I had a fluffy blanket.

Right next to the main bus station and central to everything, room was good looked like it had just been refurbished. Wasnt around much at night but looked like there were quite a few activities on. Would come back.

Stayed for 4 nights at a great price, met some amazing people and had an all round great time. The best part about this hostel is the staff, everyone was very helpful and friendly.

A great experience in the heart of Surfers Paradise.

Great hostel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were great. There is also great common places to hang out with other travellers, including pool table, pool and bar.

I was just dropping in to sleep, and it was what I needed. The other reviews describe the place well, I got there super late when I arrived but luckily there was someone to give me the room number and key.

I recently visited surfers and the first place me and my partner stayed in was the 'backpackers in paradise' the atmosphere was great, there was something going on every night and we got to meet a lot of different people. The location was perfect, right in the heart of surfers town and beach was only 5 minute walk away so was ideal. We stayed in one of the 4 bed dorms, very simple, clean and plenty of space for our belongings and then we were upgraded to a more private room which was just as nice. We will definitely be back again as we really enjoyed our stay here.

Close to bus station drop off (Greyhound) and city centre of Surfers Paradise (few mins walk). Also nice party in the hostel which made my stay unforgettable.

Stayed 1 night in December 2013. Great location for a hostel (short walk to Cavill Avenue, the beach and bus routes), the staff were friendly and helpful (up for a chat when I checked out, and were happy with me leaving my bag after I checked out), the shower was good. Overall the quality of the hostel was average at best. It provides all the basics — bed, shower, fan in room — and it wasn't dirty or anything, it just seemed dated and in need of a update/refurbish. If you're only in town for a night or 2, Backpackers in Paradise will do the job, but for a longer stay I'd recommend Aquarius in Southport.

How to sum up this place. TERRIBLE! Dont stay here its as simple as that! Also NO REFUNDS EVER! The problems with this place are many and im ashamed it didnt follow other peoples advice of not to stay here. Firstly the rooms are small and crampted and the fans if you can call them that are useless so by 9am the room is a complete sweat box! The bunk beds are your normal however no proper fitted bottom sheet?! You also have to make your own bed as on arrival your handed a pile of sheets. This lets you see what a poor condition the mattresses are in and the pillows are a joke. Just lumpy balls of cotten but I was lucky and mine was sleepable on! The rooms and bathrooms could badly use a lick of paint and the shower curtains need to be burnt as theyre black with mould at the bottom! Theres bits off the wall missing in our bathroom and a shit load of bleach wouldnt go a miss. The cleaners are all backpackers who only do it for free accomodation so its more like theyre pushing dirt around rather then actually cleaning! All this hostel does from the moment you check in is want more and more money out of the customers and the planned nights out are not so good! Hey we all love free entry but you can get that from the stamp ppl in the street and vip wristbands for cheaper drinks if you find one pre midnight!

We stayed 1 night in an 8 bed dorm, and had a great time! The hostel was only a short walk from all the main night life and the beach. The staff was super friendly and had some great ideas for things to do around town. The facilities and bunks were clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.
