I haven't stayed yet at the hotel, but by the way they accommodated me through long distance phone call (from Philippines) I can see that the staff are so helpful about our concerns and even made considerations on our behalf. I've talked to two different staff, on different shifts, they were both consistent and approachable. (I forgot to ask their names).

Very small rooms. There were cockroaches. The bathroom was clean.

Great value for those who don't look for frills in the accommodation… Families are welcomed and well-received… But they don't find their spaces. Better if you're traveling alone, or as a couple or with friends… Or… If you just have to stay overnight and then visit Sydney… But if you want to relax in the hotel… Depenpente it.

When we arrived the gentleman at reception was so helpful, we couldn’t check in just yet but he stored our bags and pointed us toward places of interest we could go too while we waited for the rest of our group to arrive. Our rooms were fairly small and you do have to be careful of not setting off the fire alarm when you have a shower but this was explained to us on arrival. The room my son and myself were in was very clean and comfortable although I would recommend bringing your own pillow as the ones provided were very thin. The free breakfast in the morning consisted of cereals, toast, boiled eggs but you could also use the kitchen to cook anything you brought yourself. I will definitely return and stay here again.

Great location, fair price. Decent linens, simple breakfast, updated bathroom. The owner, Adrian, is helpful and friendly. Was very noisy for two nights because the night manager went out, but Adrian was going to address that. Having the locked entry down the hall at the base of the stairs felt a little unsafe. Should be at the door, or at least visible from the street.

Okay so I don't normally write reviews but I have to on this booking. Upon arrival the staff (owner) was brilliant checked me into the room early and was very welcoming. The following day in passing I me unmentioned that I was bored and he suggested things for me to do that was amazing. As I said I don't normally write reviews but I feeltjat this hotel is amazing value for what it is please booooook I swear it'll be the best holiday you'll ever have.

Close to King's Cross station & the Harbour areas of Sydney. The room wasn't generous, but it was clean, the bathrooms were immaculate & it was quiet & welcoming. Breakfast lack-lustre!

Dozens of cockroaches of all sizes in the bedroom and bathroom. An infectious smell in the room. Very small room, without any comfort. Unappetizing breakfast in a very small room, one on the other. Austere home. All this for 100 euros, price we paid for a sublime suite of Brisbane's Merinon!

A very cooperative and hospitable staff. While the rooms are a bit small, there are other facilities which offset the shortcoming such as train station nearby, nice kitchen, general bathrooms etc. Good value for money. Recommended.

Posting on behalf of my hubby who stayed there mid October. He found the staff excellent, facilities very clean, overall a very positive experience. Ideal for someone traveling on their own. He would definitely stay there again,.

Very noisy no soundproofing at all boom clank of the doors, scrape scrape of people above. ' free' internet is actually 200 mb per day each device. So goes really quickly then you have to pay. Cheapish by rip off Sydney standards. Location is all backpackers and assorted weirdos. But soon be amalgamated into Potts Point. When all the dreadful people earning less than 200k a year will be flushed out.

Great value. Clean and tidy. Small room but very comfortable stay. Close to Opera house, botanical gardens and close to Kings Cross station. Easy to get around the city.

Cheap and ordinary. The entrance is kind of shabby. It very basic… felt more like a youth hostel.

Woeful. This is nothing more than a poorly run hostel where drunken twenty year olds stagger in at 4am, have their way with another in the hall way and generally prevent you from getting any rest. The room was worn down and the bed sub lar. I was in sydney for City2Surf. I'll be sure to book early next year — elsewhere.

Good price, but had room that had just been painted which had a strong smell, also bathroom was not completed.

Heated room warm shower comfortable cosy beds TV for my kids and ready to eat breakfast nd top of all the cheerful caring staff. I loved it.

We detected bed bugs in 24 and tried to reach somebody in charge at 9:15pm. Without success. Right now we're hopeless without a room and no money to go somewhere else. Just go to a decent hostel and not this shady establishment!

Cute, clean, affordable, lovely little piece of Sydney architecture, friendly helpful staff. Suits all our needs for a nights stop over. Looking forward to breakfast!

My daughter & I stayed at Highfield Private Hotel, Potts Point, Sydney in November, 2015… and plan to stay there again in January. Yes, accommodation is simple, but it's clean and comfortable. We had a room with an ensuite on the 2nd floor with a wonderful window which opened out onto the treed street. A communal kitchen provided tea and coffee-making facilities and the breakfast really was quite substantial. The staff were extremely helpful and although the street was quiet, the railway station was only a stone's throw away. Highly recommended.

The title "hotel" is misleading. This is no better than any backpackers place in the area. Rooms aren't particularly clean. There was a mix up with my booking (didn't have the room type I booked) and they kept me waiting for over 30 minutes attempting to resolve.

Unprofessional, they rang constantly asking for more 'bond payments' and then again when we arrived almost like they made it up for more money then when I questioned they said "oh yeah never mind then". They answer the phone as "yeah or hi" I wouldn't recommend unless your on a massive budget. Its not breakfast included either it's a kitchen!

Everything in general very old and worn. But what are reforming for improvement.

Good budget motel. Very close to all the action of the cross with very little noise from the street below. Rooms where clean and pleasant. Shared bathrooms where also clean.

Rooms are dirty&small&smelly. Do not have air conditioning. Staff are careless and unhelpful. No security — everyone on King's Cross knows the password from the entrances as it has not been changed for decades. Quite expensive. You better to stay at Original bacpackers just to the right from the exit. It is clean, cheap, helpful and cheerful staff. Not ideal, but it is 10 times better for lower price.

I cant think of a positive thing to say, sure it was only $95 for the night but I have stayed at backpackers for a quarter of that price and everything about them was better. The bathrooms were terrible and dirty. No fan or aircon so you're forced to have the windows open on a hot night and let the bass beats of the near by clubs/bars soothe you while you try to sleep on the rock hard mattress, on that note a noticed quite a few bites on me the next day so the place probably has bed bugs too. If you're looking for a place on a budget I would recommend you're nearest park bench over this place, you'd save your self some cash too.

For a hotel that describes itself as a clean hotel it was very dirty. Listen to the reviews above and avoid unless you're looking for very cheap accommodation of poor standard.

This is the WORST hotel I have ever been to! The woman behind the desk was the rudest most inhospitable grump and not suited at all for her job! We arrived and she could barely summon the energy to throw our key at us and demand a deposit. Upon arriving in our "spacious comfortable room" we immediately wanted out — a room less than 2 metres sqaure with no room to move let alone put our bags down and stiffling hot. I went down to ask about our refund options (unfortunately we'd already paid) and she said she'd charge us one night more than what we stayed, i. E if we left then we'd be charged for one night — not ideal but reasonable. We went out to find a better place but then when we actually checked out she charged us for TWO nights! I tried to argue this and requested I speak to the manager but she refused and was incredibly rude and just smirked at me and basically said take it or leave it. UNBELIEVABLE! DO NOT STAY HERE! It may look like a nice place but it is FAR FROM THAT. Honestly the rudest most vile woman running the place and ridculously tiny rooms, not worth even $20 a night.

How these people are still in business I do not know. It took us about 10 minutes to decide that the cockroaches, broken — and frankly dangerous and illegal — power points, lack of advertised DVD player, lack of advertised coffee-making facilities, broken window blinds, dirty floors and furniture (we didn't look at the sheets), toilets on every other floor and lack of breakfast ("we put enough out, if you don't get there in time, you miss out") — were so far from acceptable that we couldn't stay there. And between us we've been to over 70 countries from USSR to Sudan and really roughed it! The staff — sensibly behind a barred and locked door — could not care less and it took the threat of hotel inspectors and the fire department to get any kind of refund. Stay just up the road at the backpackers, stay at the Holiday Inn — even stay in the gutter — but do not stay here. At the time of writing, they even faked their own testimonials on their website.
