Really impressed by the facilities at University House. Great location, plenty of parking and our meeting room was well equipped. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to hold corporate functions or meetings.

A step back in time to a place where style and comfort were standard. University House offers this and more. Close to the city restaurants. One of our favorite places to stay in Canberra.

I had a very bad experience with the staffs. The receptionists and staff are not at all supportive. One of my friends left her personal belongings in the hotel room she used to stay. But, the hotel staffs weren't helping her out, rather providing her with illogical explanations. Otherwise, this is a good place to have a temporary stay.

This hotel is no longer very good value, but is charming, with its post war Utility era furniture and large garden. Convenient for visiting academics. Staff helpful, and pay parking usually available.

Old school nostalgia. I lived here decades ago as a Post Graduate so it was a blast from the past. NOTHING had changed lol! Still the same old furniture that is so old it’s now come back in style. Great spot, big and roomy but honestly as much as I loved the nostalgia in terms of hotel accomodation it’s pretty basic and overpriced. Pay less and stay somewhere with comfortable beds and heaters in the bedrooms lol!

Dated room and furnishings. Located within the ANU campus, about 20mins walk to the Civic. The bathroom is quite clean. The hot water system is inconsistent, takes ages for hot water to flow and really weak water pressure. Terrible to take a shower during cold winter. The room is small and cozy. Not the cleanest, you can feel the dust and see stains. The blanket and bed cover are rough with pilled surface, and extremely uncomfortable. They provide all the essentials, TV, fridge, fan, iron, and kettle. The heater is not that warm and the windows do not seal or close properly. Can be quite cold during winter. I wouldn't recommend unless you have activities in ANU and prefer to live on campus. You can find a better accommodation closer to the central for about the same price.

Its a long time between visits and still is one of canberra's best kept secrets just beautifully looked after.

Convenient location, ease of parking a bonus for Canberra/ANU. Rooms are a bit dreary due to historical authenticity, give the single rooms a miss but twin rooms are fine. Grounds are delightful. Very close to the Film and Sound Archive which is well worth a drop in. We also like the Cupping Room.

Convenient location. Only around ten minutes walk from shops, restaurants and main transport links. Room large and clean, but the furnishings could do with a bit of an update. Very good breakfast however.

I hate to write this as I've had a lot of great experiences at ANU but I was booked into a room last night that looked, felt & smelt like it had been locked away since 1952. I can handle dodgy decor but the pervasive stale/musty/damp smell was intolerable. The concierge told me all rooms smelt like that. I checked out.

Loved the location, close to the city center, peaceful and quiet. The rooms were spacious, and air-conditioned with a balcony. Definitely recommend it.

Room was a very simple two bedroom affair with a small bathroom and balcony. It had fairly old furnishings, but had a TV and fridge to it's credit. The main highlight of our stay was the serene and incredibly quiet garden outside as well as the proximity to the university. Though we did not attend them, the hotel had a bar and restaurant available. All in all a very pleasant stay.

For a family it's a great place to stay. The apartment was generously sized, had all the amenities we needed and was well located. The rooms are fitted out with cool retro furniture. I'd definitely stay here again.

Budget but good value. The grounds and buildings are great, but the place is definitely a bit older now and done of the beds, fittings and furniture is a bit dated.

University house is probably the quietest hotel in central Canberra. The grounds are beautiful and it's right in the middle of ANU campus. The rooms are quite nice, reasonably sized, and most have a desk to work at. I highly recommend University House.

Pretty impressive. The food I had there was absolutely amazing.

University house was a great stay. It is not flash or over priced, but rather a reasonably priced apartment room. The location is perfect for people needing access to the ANU or for nice bike rides along the lake. It really suits most groups of people, maybe not young children though. For 2 people and out most of the day, it was perfect.

The grounds are stunning. Enjoyed going here for a training. To sit in the courtyard during breaks was a lovely bonus.

Old world with impeccable standards. Stairs (no lifts) are a problem for seniors.

Grounds are well maintained and a nice sanctuary amidst the hustle and bustle of the University. Food is okay and the rooms are in need of modernisation but function rooms are spacious and suitable for most events.

Check-in was quick and easy. Great location on ANU campus. Spacious 2-bedroom apartment. No elevator access.

Attended an industry gala at the Scarth room. It was quite clean, had a professional look and decor to it and high quality bites. First time going there and the experience was wirie satisfactory for what it offered.

Located near the University, basic room and facilities but with close amenities.

Clean and comfortable. Nice view from the room. Fast and reliable Internet service. Good location, walking distance to the civic centre.

If you are looking for 5 star luxury and crazy high tariff, go elsewhere. This is a blast from the past with all the mod cons, country atmosphere and surrounds yet a walk to the city or the lake. Just a superb place to stay and / or visit.

Location, service and cleaniness are okay. Not very impressive but also no complaints. Good for a budget stay.

Bit noisy but charming. Set up for the 1950s though. Had to turn my fridge off as it was very noisy. TV didn't work either.

Third visit… fantastic. You are free to be yourself without big hotel processing… rooms need some soft lighting… very comfortable… love the continuous bathroom floor heating. Planning another business visit next month … hoping it's warmer in Canberra then. Regards Charles Broadhurst.

Lovely place wonderful room staff were really helpful and the food at fellows was great highly recommend.

I thought the rooms were spacious and we had lovely verandah off ours. Adequately furnished and had wardrobe which was handy. The bathroom door was difficult to open — had to push hard. Food was great value and big sizes for dinner, but I thought the breakfast was pricey and kids paid the same as adults. Lovely and quiet and so handy to be close to my daughter who is at Johns — we will be back.

Classic university accommodation positioned around a quadrangle. Large rooms with en suite bathroom and balcony. Furniture is old-style and sturdy. Beautiful cast iron baths and vintage sinks. Breakfast served in The Fellows, a short walk past a long, shallow goldfish pond.

Worst place ever. Never go there. The room looks like it hasn't been updated since the 40's. Horrible place.

Quite campus environment. Easy access to city centre by driving or public transportation.

The living area was spacious with plenty of cupboards and storage. The furniture is classic. The bathroom had a large walk in shower and again plenty of space. However, our particular bathroom and a smell of urine so had to leave the window open. The suite of rooms was otherwise clean and well looked after. The accomodation is ideally placed for exploring all the sights in this lovely city. Good value so well worth staying here.

It has such a nice ambient. The view of the small pond with fish is priceless.

Our favourite place for a drink on Fridays after work. Great with family and kids. Lovely live music.

Such a quiet and peaceful stay — and we were there during O'Week! Short walk to the CBD and very, very clean rooms. A bargain!

Rooms, not enough room to swing a cat! Silverfish in the bathroom, needing a damn good insect spray. Hot water… having to wait 20 minutes (after being told to turn hot water in shower and hot water in hand basin) before any hot water came through. I was told this is 'normal' as there is such poor water pressure for University House. Would I go there again? Not on your nelly.

A great place to stay when working from the ANU for short periods. Good rooms. Choice of restaurants and cafes nearby for food. Oi! … and don't forget to ask for a parking slip when you check in.

It's a quaint place with a great relaxed feel to it, sure the rooms are a bit dated, but I like the feel of it. If you want some of the accoutrements that the other reviewers want, then find yourself some bland hotel in town. It has real character. The bar is great, a nd the food is great.
