This hotel is fabulous. Large comfortable room with great bed and lovely bathroom toiletries. Room is warm and relaxing. Hotel is very friendly and the food and service can't be praised enough. We will definitely return.

Arrived at 2:30pm to be told our rooms are not ready told us to sit and wait. After I question why they gave us drink voucher. Finally got our rooms and was shocked how small they were and smelt musty. Went to open the windows only to find they are nail or screw shut. This is a single storey building. When I phoned the front desk and questioned is there any rooms with opening windows was told no. Only few with a single door. When I said on your website u showed opening doors onto the garden was told u book on bookings. Com they chose the photos? But the same photos are on your website? Blaming bookings. Com Lol. They offered me another room opening onto the staff car park which was fine but then said it would be a extra $60 a night. I took it as I needed a room with fresh air due to my asthma. We never got told about breakfast or any other amenities in the hotel. Staff are friendly and the place has old fashioned charm. But the rooms are disappointing and not private as I could here the people next to me talking.

Love the Kurrajong and the wonderful staff. Always make us feel special and go an extra mile or two.

Staff at check-in went missing after being asked to be excused. Was not available for a some time. Another staff member in casual clothes assisted in checkin.
Paid $40 per person ($160 for the family) for breakfast just to find that the breakfast is from the menu with a price list… the prices regardless of what you have does not exceed $30. What a waste of $ and a rip off.
Breakfast ordered mentioned egg per our choice but the person at the bar said it comes with poached egg. Had to say that I don't like it and requested eggs per my choice. After this, the breakfast for me and my wife came without bacon. Service was horrible in the restaurant.
Never will I stay in this hotel or recommend anyone else. Do not get tricked by the impressive website.

This is our third stay here and always a favourite. Plenty of space in the rooms, staff always accommodating and restaurant sensational.
We will be back next year.

It’s disappointing we traveled down to the restaurant on Sunday evening we agree we did not book however we were handed menus and told we could sit out on the terrace with no al acarte device however we pay full price. This despite several table being vacant during our dining experience
Salmon was tough meals were acceptable.
I just think we had ben treated poorly with no room for compromise.
Very disappointed.

Yesterday went to visit Floriade and very good place suitable for everyone because too close to the sightseeing Canberra war memorials and Floriade and Some places to visit and the food is very good I ate lamb shank with mashed potato and veggies so I personally recommend to everyone and visit this hotel accommodations…

Clean and comfy, staff were really lovely to deal with. $15 parking for guests is rude and the free Wi-Fi — well couldn’t work that one out, they said it was for free but the link kept asking for my credit card number. Highly recommend the restaurant thou.

If something unexpected comes up and you can't stay they charge you for a full night as a cancellation fee. Not nice.

Amazing manager and staff The booking we thought we had through Luxury Escapes wasn’t made by them. Oops. The manager here cannot be thanked and commended enough for the way he handled the situation and found us a room for three nights despite being full tomorrow night. A lovely room that is the size of a small apartment with a lovely bathroom and plenty of hangers. Highly recommended. I’m down here a lot and think I will make this a frequent stop.

Nice comfortable rooms with great friendly service. Buffet breakfast is what you would expect and pretty standard.

Nice place, good food (although on the expensive side). Staff are friendly and helpful. We booked a room for 3 people, when we got there they gave us a room with 1 bed. After talking to the front desk they moved us to a different room without any fuss and were nice and helpful about it.

Friendly, sprawling and worn, the Kurrajong has a strong political history. Worth checking the walls for a little of the story. More than adequate drive-thru bottles shop, a games room, grill your own bbq restaurant in lounge bar and a reasonable quality restaurant rooms with gas fired… for the last you need to book on weekends.

A bit disappointed that they didn’t let us know about the event held in the dining room at the hotel for they had telephoned some visitors to the hotel that it was on in doing so we might have wanted to partake in the Great Gatsby season there were tickets available but one we didn’t have the outfits to wear & I might add the ladies Outfits were stunning to say the least & on short notice the cost of going to the event was expensive at a &149.00 per ticket & to be told we could not dine there so our only option was room service or catch a cab into the city for a meal some of us unfortunately have to factor in such costs especially when we have come to Canberra for a percificate event as the Cartier Collection but we found it a friendly courteous place to stay the only draw back I found was yes to got a lift to the first floor but to have to carry bags up narrow stairs to another level a bit daunting.

It was a great stay. The beds were comfy. The rooms clean and spacious. Great shower. The staff were friendly. Loved the beauty of the interior. Very Great Gatsby style. Will stay there again.

Room was adjacent to the Hotel car park. Cars coming and going at all hours so not a brilliant location. The room was v clean and decor tastefully done. Restaurant food and service was brilliant. Our waitress was great and we opted for room service following evening and again brilliant!

Last night we were at the Hotel Kurrajong for the evening to attend a wedding. My daughter is 12 weeks old and in recent times has decided evenings are best suited for her transition to her werewolf form, at which point she is primitively unstable; prone to shrieks, wild limb movements and vicious hunger. In an attempt to subdue the wee beastie, my wife took herself into a corridor away from the noisy celebrations. What could have been a tiresome, anxious experience for a fi…rst time mum on a major outing with her baby was accommodated so pleasantly I am compelled to leave this note. The staff on hand last night were beyond welcoming, taking special effort to ensure my wife was warm, served meals, felt comfortable and included while she fed and comforted our baby girl. Thank you for the extra effort. We won’t forget it. PS. The food was amazing!

An excellent hotel. We had a very comfortable stay. Good food and coffee. Hotel is located within walking distance of Old Parliament House, Capital Hill, Questacon and the National Library.

Comfortable and affordable hotel with a nice bar and patio area. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Plenty of food options around with Kingston in walking distance.

Stayed here whilst attending a conference also in the hotel. All the staff where lovely and highly professional. The hotel is in the state circle so easy access to walk the lake and good food in Kingston and Manuka. The room was lovely and had everything you could want, also MOR toiletries proved where amazing quality. The food proved through out the conference was also top notch and staff catered for all dietary requirements. Would stay here for work or personal travel as it has a lovely courtyard to relax and share a wine or whiskey with friends. It is also in a nice quiet part of town perfect to get that beauty sleep. Saw a wedding party here and think that this would be a great venue.

Lovely old world atmosphere and art Deco Style hotel with lots of parliamentary history and memorabilia. Very comfortable bed. Verandah and enclosed outdoor garden off the bar and restaurant adds to the appeal. Our room even had a private porch/ balcony with wicker furniture. Good location close to many attractions in the parliamentary zone.

A charming and luxurious hotel that exudes Art Deco features illuminating the period that made it famous! Staff were most friendly and accommodating and nothing was ever to much trouble. I highly recommend this fine hotel.

Really nice hotel with Tesla chargers. Few issues, there was music playing below my room that appeared to be from a staff area most of the night that kept me awake and required me to move rooms and the qantas points I was told about during checkin never showed up. After questioning weeks later they told me the points only apply with a minimum spend which was not mentioned anywhere.

Food and service 4/5. Met a really interesting lady there… as in life story.

Went to celebrate my birthday at Chifley's. We weren't told when booking there was a wedding on that night and the restaurant was closed. After getting dressed up to celebrate a special occasion, we were put in a fluorescent lit room along with half a dozen other tables. Meanwhile we were forced to listen to the noise from the wedding next door. Not an ideal way to spend my birthday — The night was spolit by the move in venue and the noise. However, the food was excellent and the service wonderful — the only way it earns 3 stars.

Very good work on the renewal, the hotel is very good looking. Not quite gorgeous but almost there. Staff could slightly improve their smile and friendliness but are very professional and helpful. Will definitely go back, would place this hotel as 3rd best in Canberra.

Stayed for 2 nights. Very clean and wonderful mix of old and new. Rooms small but more than adequate. Very comfy beds and yummy breakfast included. Overall lovely hotel and will definately return.

Beautiful hotel and lovely staff. The breakfast is very good, for me that is a A+. Great room, comfy bed and nice shower. They have parking in the surroundings but if you need something closer they offer a "private" parking. Another good point is the location, close from the parliament and restaurants.

Great place. They just take so long to do the paperwork for check in and check out. Otherwise real enjoyable stay. Breakfast was good too.

The facilities are super nice, the old fashion but modernise hotel is a beautiful place where to stay when in Canberra. Excellent location, just 10 min walk from Parliament house, but probably 10 min drive to the city center (still super close). In my experience little details where disappointing such as a servicing cold coffee in the breakfast and receiving a rude response from one of the staff. Also have to ask three time for a remote control which was missing in the room. Facilities a 5, some aspects of the service 3.

Very cosy, colonial-style Hotel in a quiet area of Canberra a few minutes drive from the center. Very good service and quality of the facilities. A landmark hotel in the young history of Australia.

Always had a pretty good dining experience here. Had salmon, steak, soup, in room service, and has also been decent. A few beers on tap. Coffee is ok 7/10. Furniture and atmosphere are relay nice. Very well presented dining area. Rooms are very elegant and federation style with federation style mirrors, curtains, carpet, furniture. Would stay there again.

A very loud wedding reception was in progress on my arrival, making communication with the front desk difficult. Incorrect details were pulled up for me and struggled to find my booking. Once the initial hurdle was overcome, my room was very quiet, modern and well designed. Most facilities were available. Room service options past 10:30 p. M. Are limited and over priced. The queen bed was firm but fairly comfortable. No complimentary water, all at a cost. Full Buffet breakfast was $28 and fairly average. A good location for walking to galleries and Old parliament house etc. Well maintained and clean. Staff are mostly helpful and friendly. I would stay here again, at a discounted price.

I definitely recommend this place for anyone who wishes to stay in Canberra, location is smack in the middle. Rooms and staff were great. Probably need more parking spaces and a little more variety with breakfast. Shower area needs to be a little bit big for disabled person to transfer to the shower bench.

Got married and stayed here for the weekend of. Staff massively accommodating, supplied with much assistance and even gifts. Every member of staff on hand ready to help at a moment's notice, right down to room cleaners and janitors who wouldn't have known who we were or why we were there. Parking is limited though, first come, first serve, and seemingly in high demand but we were here in peak times. Fantastic service.

Flawless. The decor is to die for. Herringbone patterns on floors, white plantation shutters in the rooms, oppulent soft furnishings. Lots of character. It's like staying at the Raffles but in Canberra.

So far the best hotel I've stayed at in Canberra. The rooms are beautifully furnished and decorated in a historic building. Staff are wonderful and friendly. Restaurant is pretty good but slightly pricey.

A beautiful and comfortable hotel. Room was spotless and had everything we needed — bathroom was a standout. Heating great. Lovely staff. Only problem was lack of parking — the hotel parking was booked out so we had to move the car from a nearby street very early in the morning to a 2 hour park before checkout (also a bit of a walk from hotel). Other than that, would definitely visit again.

Exceptional place and service. Some rooms can only be bottom to via stairs. Beautiful building. Lovely service. Nice restaurant. Only real negative was I though the breakfast buffet was a little less than expected.

We visited Hotel Kurrajong for the first time to dine at Chifley's Bar and Grill. It was relaxing to sit and absorb the fun atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be having a good time! The wait staff were great — non obtrusive and most helpful and we were happy with our steaks.

Recently renovated with all its old world charm preserved. The rooms are small but have everything you need and many have their own courtyards. Close to all the attractions in the parliamentary circle. Quite often available at lower prices through travel agent deals. Would stay again.

Good value for a one night stopover.

Fast internet, mini bar, ensuite, big bed, foxtel. Had everything one needs, but because it is a historic building interior is very old. Bond of $100 dollars was not mentioned. Also I expected that my balcony room would be at least on the second floor with a view other than of the carpark. I was told that that room (expensive option) was the only one available but I doubt this is true, as the hotel was mostly empty. Only one staff member at a time. Some facilities look old. In desperate need of renovation in rooms. Dining area looks new. Website says Isabella's bar and dining is open seven days a week, but it is closed on weekends. Could have found a much cheaper option for accommodation including the same facilities.

Hotel Kurrajong is great value for money. It's historical and that is the great charm of the place. Great location, great service, great food.

The Hotel Kurrajong did not inform us that there is NO breakfast served on weekends when we booked. We were also not informed that they do not serve dinner during the weekend either. This Hotel is a shadow of its former self. The grounds were poorly maintained, the plants at the entry are dying and not cared for and the entry door has paint knocked off. The gutters and barge-boards all need replacing. Though the rooms are spacious the furnishings are deteriorating, bathroom is small and the tap set in the basin was loose. The blanket when opened out was entirely dusty as if it were in a state of chronic deterioration. It was disgusting! It appears to be staffed by only one person at any time and there is a sense of desolation throughout the building. It is very sad to see such a once grand old building become so dilapidated.

Despite its appearance, both online, and from outside, this hotel is anything but the four stars that it is claimed to be. The location of this hotel is superb, just a stones throw away from capital hill, which is all well and good, if you can actually come back to a nice hot shower and comfortable bed in the evening. The rooms are outdated, and its no surprise that the hotel did not feature any photos of the bathrooms on their website — it felt like I had been for a trip in the DeLorean, with the flux capacitor set to 1960. Upon arrival, we were asked for the card which we had booked with — which actually hadn't yet been charged. This was handed over, however we were not asked how we would prefer to pay for the room. At this point, we were also told the full amount of the stay would be authorised, (not charged), as well as a $100 dollar refundable security deposit. Not only is this uncommon practice, we were offended that we were not informed of the bond prior to our stay when we booked via telephone, nor is there any information of such policy online, or in our booking confirmation email.
