I am a platinum Marriott Rewards member and checked into the Ritz Carlton on August 15th for 4 nights. We were previously staying at the Marriott Surf club but decided to spend a few days alone at the Ritz while still being close to our family. From check in we were very disappointed especially with the Ritz being a 5 star hotel. Although supposedly we were given an upgrade, our room was on the first floor with the basketball court right outside our door. Having no children and looking for some relaxation we had an 8:30 wake up call to a bouncing basketball. With the hotel being half full in conjunction with my platinum status and my profile having a preference of a high floor I would have expected to be given a room elsewhere. At check in we were also just handed the key with no welcome and sent on our merry way. After aimously roaming around for five minutes it took 3 Ritz employees to figure out where our room was. Never experienced this with the Marriott and surely did not expect to experience this with the "Ritz". At 9:00 am in the morning on the way to the beach we asked the concierge to make a 7:00 pm reservation at El Gaucho. We were told that a confirmation message would left on our phone. Upon returning from the beach at 5:00 pm there was no message. We had to call the concierge to confirm our reservation. Again did not expect this service from the Ritz who prides themselves on personalization and customer service. Turn down service at 10:30 pm is a little inconsiderate. Overall our stay was a big disappointment and the service and amenities here are not a up to the Ritz standard. Being a Marriott platinum in all our travels we never experienced the service that we received here at the Ritz.
