The carpet was dirty, the floors in the bathroom were dirty we had to put towels on the floor to even walk. There were bugs everywhere. There was hair on the bed sheets. The sheets had numerous stains. The comforter both had white stains, there was a dirt ring around the bathtub. There was dust on the night stand and the desk and on the fan blades. And where I returned the key, anyone could have taken it. It was not a secure location to return a key.

If your looking for a nostalgic motel in Kanab Utah this is the place. Nothing fancy, clean and centrally located to all attractions. Staff super friendly! Breakfast served in the morning. Swamp cooler in the rooms. It’s the type of motel where guest sit outside and everyone talks to one another. If friendliness is not what you want then this is not the place for you!

Loved the kitzy little room! I just wanted a place to lay my head and get a little snooze time and this hit the mark. Manager is very friendly and the breakfast was totally fine for an eat and run. Had oatmeal and a plain donut. Didn't do any coffee, so no comment on that. Also, no shower, so again, no comment. Very easy to get to and mountains surrounding the area are beautiful. In the summer, the rates go up considerably ($200 a night + tax), not the $88+ tax I paid ($101).

Small and quiet motel, good for an overnight stay. Some issues with window and door locks. Staff are friendly. Simplicity is a forte.

Upon driving in, I wanted to find another place to stay. But the room was better than it looked from the outside. It is not the worst place I have stayed, but that being said, I will spend more next time to stay someplace nicer. Pros: friendly staff, clean bedding, fairly clean room, good location. Cons: carpet was nasty, bathroom had cracked tile and dirty sealant. Dead bugs in window sill. Even on low the wall heater was too hot. No shelf or space to set anything in the batroom. Very well used and abused furniture. Window coverings made it looked boarded up and dark. A little TLC around the parking lot could really make this place feel a lot nicer. I appreciate a family run place trying to do the best they can. This place is a good no frills value, but just not for me.

The bed was comfortable. Bob and Don are good, hard working people, and we felt welcome. We enjoyed the simple breakfast and the coffee. Would like to give the Sun n Sand a five. Room was small and had some minor deficiencies.

Worst motels that we have ever stayed at. The carpet should have been changed years ago. Carpet was worn at both door ways and dirty looking. Windows had to be held open by sticks and had to take care so they didn't fall out. Bathroom needs upgrade, bad caulking job. Junk outside front door needs to be cleaned up. TV, microwave, frig and multi plug all came off one outlet. I did not want to even give it one star. Ended up costing over $300 for two nights. Where is the health department that would ok this kind of place.

Horrible, the worst place I've ever stayed. Nasty, smelly, noisy and dirty. In addition to not having an economic price. For not offering, they don't even make the bed.
They take advantage of their situation in the region near the Grand Canyon and other national parks.

Such a quaint little motel. It was so affordable and perfect for our needs. They had homemade muffins, delicious orange juice, milk, cereal, toast and oatmeal for breakfast. The owners seemed genuinely concerned for our comfort. My husband told the kids that we were staying at the "Cozy Cone" in Radiator Springs from Pixar's "Cars. " We were truly delighted when they turned on their neon lights.

Delightful, quite unique for a Desert hiking community. Will make this a stop when traveling from Idaho to Arizona and the reverse. Thank you Barbara M.

I LOVED the Sun and Sand Motel. I ride my Harley around and just want a clean room with a good bed and shower at a good price. The Sun and Sand delivered that and more. It's like a slice out of the 50's — 60's, old schools Route 66. Don & Cassi are great hosts. Chairs are outside every room and people sit outside and socialize and Don and Cassi "hold court" at the picnic table in the commons area. Don make killer banana muffins that are available every morning. I loved staying here — great room at a great price for the area and the company and people you will meet, can't be beat! Thanks for the stay, Don & Cassi!

Everything was good to great except one snafu which downed the whole experience. No hot water available after 1030am until the morning. Something must have happened but no after hours contact to let them know about it.

Typical holiday inn. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were alright. The bed is a little soft but it was nice to have different pillow options. Each pillow said we're it was soft or firm. The bathroom was just ok, nothing horrible but the curtain gave off a little musty smell. Didn't get to the pool but it's indoors. Breakfast was typical as well, nothing to write home about but does the job. Good location in town and able to get to all the parks easily.

This is a great option for people volunteering at Best Friends. They have dog friendly rooms, a well equipped kitchenette, modern decor and furnishings, and one of the best restaurants in town on premises (Peekaboo Canyon). It's our second time staying here and we will make this our go to place in Kanab.

Very nice place to stay. Quite and great breakfast. Front desk staff was helpful with good place to eat and have a cold beer.

Nice clean rooms with 2 beds in my case. Close to grocery shopping, restaurants, and attractions. Fantastic breakfast bar that is constantly restocked with items.

Really enjoyed our stay there. I thought the rooms were super cute, and clean. Gentleman at Check-In, was very pleasant and helpful. The only thing I would change is darker window coverings, so I could have slept in. A lso great location, and enjoy the fire pit outside.

The Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Kanab is about 70 miles north of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I booked the last room available a week before our trip start date. I was pleasantly surprised with how friendly all the employees were that I interacted with. The first woman I interacted with at the front desk gave me some thorough directions to get around the town and when I had to get additional towels and an extra room key, they were pleasant and prompt. The continental breakfast room was busy at 8:30am and the woman keeping things stocked was constantly running back and forth, bringing out more fruit, muffins, eggs, etc. I was impressed with how well she kept up with the hoard of guests, but she had to move fast and she did. The beds were comfortable, even after a 29 mile hike in one day through the Grand Canyon.

Although the exterior seemed like a motel, the interior was fully renovated and spectacular. The service was very friendly and offered tips of where to eat! The location was right off the main road, and could easily be seen.

What a delight! Just a one night stop over from Bryce and Zion Ntnl Parks to home in Prescott Arizona. The place looked great from the outdoor patio furniture, breakfast/restaurant, glass sculpture lighting and the well appointed rooms. Staff was gracious and was disappointed that the air conditioning unit didn't work because the repairman had been there THAT day. No problem, another room was sought out. The only improvement would be the one VERY squeaky queen bed in room 206 (the one nearer the window) The menu at the hotel looked very inviting but we ate at Rocking V which was also excellent.

Great staff! I travel a lot and their staff is some of the best I have found anywhere. The place was clean and looked great. Walking distance to restaurants.

After hiking 10 miles, this hotel was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. Everything was extremely clean, the decorations and design were cute, and the staff was incredible. I highly recommend this hotel.

Clean tidy rooms. Super friendly. Fantastic breakfast. Absolutely the best peanut butter and banana muffins ever. Recommended for sure. Thankyou from the aussie visitors.

The hotel was in the midst of some construction mostly on the outside. The room was very good though, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was great and got us off to a good start on the day. Enjoyed a drive around the town and found it quite clean and interesting.

Strategically located for sightseeing to Zion National Park or the smaller Coral sand dunes State Park. Only 1.5 hrs away from Bryce Canyon park, and the route includes the scenic Mt. Carmel highway. The rooms were good, clean and even had a balcony, giving us a great view of the mountains! Excellent Continental breakfast. The staff were very courteous at check-in and provided a helpful list of places to eat including vegetarian/vegan options. Great place to stay.

Very nice roomz… and staff… would recommend it to everyone. … I know where I'm staying the next time I want to get away from Vegas for a couple of dayz… :)

Our two-bed room is very clean even though its appearance looks old. Good service. Breakfast has homemade bread and muffins which are super delicious! The hosts are very friendly!

The location was great and the food was different! The only tiny issue we had was hearing the swinging door open ever 20 second in the dining room all morning. Its very clean and the staff is very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

This was a surprisingly very nice hotel. When my wife and I first reached the hotel we were a little skeptical but inside it had a very nice atmosphere with great staff that were willing to help with anything. The breakfast was quite delicious and had plenty of options to choose from. Also a nice plus was that the hotel had a restaurant in it for dinner and it was quite amazing. The only negatives are small but all together deserved a negative star, 1 was that the room had an empty Cheetos bag under the bed which made me question the cleanliness of the room but I truly think it was just a small oversight. 2 the heater/AC unit had four settings set to different times that would have outrageous temperature differences. 3 the alarm clock time was off by twenty minutes. So the negatives were small yet noticeable, however the stay was pleasant and the room was very nice.

Great stay, only reason I have given it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the following reasons: 1) exterior work on then hotel echoed through the room during the day while trying to rest. 2) fridge in the room froze all our groceries on a setting. 3) no microwave in room for heating water or hot packs for sore and aching muscles from the many hikes taken in nearby parks 4) errors in billing caused several unneeded charged to my credit card OTHERWISE … the room was incredibly comfortable with a view of a mesa out our window. A balcony was available, but no seating. There is an elevator in the main building — (don't know about the back buildings), but you are on the main road if you stay in the front building with lots of morning traffic (not NYC, but still, a little noisy). The breakfast was well ordered and the attendant was gracious and helpful. Front desk people were patient, understanding and helpful. Housekeeping was very good. Will stay again if back in the area in the future.

Easily the best place to stay in Kanab. The hotel restaurant has great breakfast and dinners. It is not far from Zion National Park, Bryce national Park, Pink Sands, etc. There are tons of off-road places, hiking, and shopping. A great family or couples get away.

Food was good. Our waitress took the time to chat with us about what to do at Zion national park.

I love this hotel, it was our second stay here, while going to Best Friends animal sanctuary. The staff is incredible, very informative, extremely helpful, and conversational. The room was perfect, we did the jacuzzi suite this time, which was perfectly affordable. Everything was very clean and sized just right to accommodate the two of us. They also allow pets in some rooms, so ask in advance. I can't wait to come back.

Cute, clean and cosy. They have a nice small kitchen with microwave and mini fridge in the room we're in. The people at the office were friendly. They have a vegetarian restaurant attached to the motel. I took away a star because the water was never hot but warm. Showers were not enjoyable.

We stayed in one of the suites w/ kitchenette. Rooms was clean and roomy. Closet space is very small no other storage for cloths. Shower is lacking anyplace to put soap and shampoo other then on the floor. Window coverings lack privacy. Large gaps in the blinds. Would stay again in the future.

Room was nice, hot water supply was low (barely got through one shower), and food at restraint was good, BUT it's all vegetarian which would have been nice to know before hand as I am a bit of a picky eater and don't like most of the dinner options. But the pizza I got was good.

I was nearly at the end of a cycle tour of southern utah I wanted a motel to stay in for a couple of days I arrived before check in and Don got the room ready early for me I had 2great days with pleasant owners Don and cassi coming from the UK this is the kind of motel I wanted to stay in a 1950s style I would definitely come here again.

We are very troubled by the reviews of this place. We stayed here and couldn't have been more shocked by the disarray and unpleasantness of the rooms and building itself. The bathroom window was missing and they had a frame with privacy mesh nailed on it shoved in the opening. The other room window wouldn't close all the way and the frig, A/C and TV didn't work. It was dingy, old, smelled, had no circulation and the shower head came out of the wall at 5' if that. It is in your best interest to stay somewhere else. To top it off, we reserved (based on website reviews) a room and reserved one queen bed. He said "I got ya in a double queen" then charged us more for it even though it isn't what we reserved. Very unpleasant experience! The only reason we are writing a review is to save someone else the same experience… you are much better off going elsewhere.

Great place to stay when visiting Zion or the wave and the homemade muffins for breakfast are amazing. Great hosts.

Don and Cassie are amazing! They'll take very good care of you. Also a short drive to breathtaking beauty at Zion!
