My husband and I were married at Dunedin toward the end of Feb this year and we absolutely adore this place. So much that we made all of our guests travel two hours to get there because nowhere else came close, in our search for the perfect place. The house itself is just THE most stunning place with big beautiful windows and mirrors and gorgeous pockets of light. We were always given the warmest of welcomes and is somewhere we both got very emotional about during every visit. Sheila and Steph took the stress and the effort away by being super attentive and actually just really lovely caring people who made us feel really special. We hired Number 38 from Friday through Sunday so our bridal party could stay over. I also stayed on Friday night. Again, we were welcomed with the biggest, warmest smiles, oh and delicious treats sent over by chef. Little touches like that throughout our entire experience made so much difference, as it’s their attention to such detail that really made our overall experience what it was. Number 38 is fabulous; beautiful in style and so much space. On the day of our wedding, Sheila and the rest of the team just made the whole day run like clockwork; it was seamless!

We attended a family wedding at the weekend. The staff who were all quite young were excellent from greeting us at the door to looking after our every need. Fantastic venue for a wedding. The rooms were very comfortable and well maintained and the food was excellent.

From the moment we stepped through the door at Dunedin we knew we had to get married here 🤍. Dunedin think of every small detail, offer the best advice and make planning a wedding such an enjoyable experience. Sheila and Steph have been absolutely fantastic throughout our planning process and are so passionate about what they do. Our wedding day was absolutely beautiful and ran to perfection from the warm welcomes, food and entertainment. Our guests were all so well looked after. Loved having our winter wedding at Dunedin on the 23rd December! Honestly the staff went above and beyond, absolutely fantastic — I just wish we could do it all over again!

Just wanted to say what a wonderful time we had at Dunedin house today 🎄 we came for the festive lunch and it was amazing ❤️. The food the staff and the venue and Christmas decorations were top class. Congratulations to all the wonderful staff and a special thanks to the wonderful chef. Best day ever. All of the staff made it for myself and John and all the guests this weekend! They made our day perfect. Massive thank you to Stephanie our wedding planner and Sheila who couldn't have made the day any better it ran so smoothly, not to mention answering all of my questions and dealing with table plan changes running up to the wedding last minute. Also a massive thanks to the chefs, (Claire in the morning she was so lovely) and the chef who managed to carry our cake in one piece and cook amazing food on the night absolutely gorgeous I could eat it all again. Not forgetting all the staff who served the food on the night and following morning and loved Chloe, Catherine and Liam behind the bar! A big mention to the house keeping ladies who couldn't do enough for us, even checking up on me the following morning as I had had one too many cocktails! They were so lovely and I know they make everything run like clock work as well. I just want to go back and do the day all over again! We will be booking to stay for the night and have a meal, such a gorgeous venue and all of the staff made our wedding perfect and seamless. We can't thank you all enough for the biggest day of our lives being made the best one.

Lovely place very clean extremely helpful staff. Great lay out and order of the day well kept and extremely well organised. Well kept and clean rooms. Nothing to much for the very helpful staff.

Lovely grounds. A replanned bar area with a modern touch. All the staff helpful and professional. Great food.

Delicious afternoon tea. A tasty selection of sandwiches and savouries. An assortment of sweet delights and then the best scone I've ever tasted. Great value for money. Highly recommend.

Dunedin is a truly incredible place. The house and grounds are stunning, the food delicious, but its the staff who truly make Dunedin special. With our wedding being affected by covid, we decided to revisit potential reception venues two months before our date! Contacting Dunedin was the best wedding decision we made, Steph gave us a tour of the house and talked us through an intimate package, upon entering the drawing room we had already made up our minds — Dunedin was our new venue. The level of care and attention the team put into weddings is fantastic! We had to pull our day forward by almost three weeks to 04.11.2020, squeezing it in just before lockdown 2.0 — Steph and Shelia were our points of contact whilst planning and they were amazing, answering multiple questions and queries, dealing with guest changes, everything — they helped to make rearranging a wedding in 4 days manageable! Shelia was there throughout our day, making sure everything was perfect, going to plan, running everything by us and checking on us throughout — Thank you so much for helping make our day perfect! We could not recommend Dunedin enough!

Superb food and very friendly efficient staff. Also all COVID regs in place felt very safe.

This lovely hotel maintains an excellent balance of value and quality friendly service. The staff are always available to assist. The room we stayed in was clean and well stocked with every comfort. The food is prepared by two chefs who are prepared to discuss any special requirements and are very friendly. The evening meals are such that the mind never wandered for a moment, towards thoughts of eating out, and the breakfasts offer a wide choice of traditional and continental or both! Happy days… We are returning soon.

I will start with fact that this property and grounds are beautiful, and very well maintained considering its age. However because it was originally a private residence all the rooms are still within the original floor plan when it was built. Meaning that all the rooms are separate. Therefore if you are stood at the bar chatting or socialising you can't keep an eye on the kids dancing on the dance floor. Or you miss the first dance or cutting of the birthday/wedding cake. Also take plenty of cash because the drinks arent cheap, in fact they seemed to get more expensive as the day/night went on.

I had booked a room in the Haylofts next door, but due to a mix up (not their fault), there wasn't a room for me. The staff very kindly sorted out a room in the Dunedin House, which has bigger rooms and is more comfortable. The only odd thing was that there were 5 TV remote controls, none of which worked correctly. Some of the bathroom fittings were loose too, so although I was very happy with the room, they just missed out on 5 stars!

Gorgeous building and grounds. Wonderful staff who go above and beyond to help you. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is delicious too.

Just had afternoon tea here for my daughters hen do and it was brilliant, room was great, staff were loverly and everyone enjoyed themselves, will be coming here again for a meal cos the food was great as well.

As a Hull & East Riding wedding photographer Dunedin country house is a dream to photograph weddings at. The gardens are stunning and inside from the open fire to the wonderful windows, boutique style bedrooms. Everyhting is just gorgeous. I really love to photograph weddings here and always find the staff so helpful. Oooooo nearly forgot to mention the food is just yummy too :)

Went for a wedding and stayed overnight. Fantastic venue, lovely staff. Room comfortable, with good facilities. Food very good and the most comfortable armchairs near the fireplace that it was difficult to prize me from.

Went for a wedding venue viewing, the bedrooms were all unique and decorated in different styles, and the bar area was very cosy with a roaring fire.

Excellent venue for weddings and parties. We stayed in the small out building at £50 per night was well worth the money. The room was very clean and fully equipped with tea coffee sweets robes etc. I highly recommend a stay over.

Fantastic place! Looking forward to a further visit and trying out there steak nights!

Very nice facilities (rooms, bar, dining and grounds). Helpful staff and quality food. The house is on an extremely busy road that has heavy traffic from about 0500 heading for the gas terminals at Easington…

Not really suited to big social occasions since the rooms are either small or narrow. A very lovely venue all the same.

I went here with my husband for a meal! The food was amazing and the staff made it extra special. Would recommend to anyone! We can't wait to go back!

Me and the fiancee went to see Dunedin as a potential venue for our wedding. It was such a lovely place she knew straight away that's where she wanted to the the knot. Fantastic staff, beautifully decorated rooms.

A lovely setting although we only saw the front. Not sure if the bar in a separate room from the function worked but it was perfect for us. Drinks very expensive which is why the loss of the star from the rating.

We attended Dunedin Country House recently for a wedding, which we found very pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was lovely and the grounds were well kept. However, at 10pm we were told to 'keep the noise down' by who I can only assume was the owner, whilst standing outside in the grounds talking to Bride and her family members. I found this to be very rude — especially as no-one was being noisy and we were having an adult, civilised conversation, and saying this to the Bride — who had spent a lot of money with the house — on her day just astounded us. What's more is that we were shocked a few days later to see that our card had been charged for one transaction 5 times. We keep receipts of everything we purchase on card and can guarantee the number of rounds we had purchased and how much they had each came to. I also know we used contactless to pay for the rounds. Our card has not been cloned and the amount was under the £30 limit for contactless — this leads us to believe that the bar staff have tapped the card not just once, but repeatedly, and subtly. I am not accusing the staff of doing this maliciously, it may well be accidental. But the five non-existent rounds we paid for came to just shy of £150! Our initial impression of Dunedin Country House has now fallen short and we are left with a disappointing experience and sour taste.

Lovely location for a wedding reception. A good selection of alcohol and the food served was nice!

Attended as a guest at a wedding. Good food, over-priced drinks (to be expected, but OTT). Nice house and grounds.

Popped in for a quick visit before attending a wedding next week. Member of staff was really friendly and showed us around plus showed us the rooms where we'll be staying overnight. The building is very impressive as well as clean and tidy. The only problem we had was finding it from the main road as there are no signs, but then that is why we visited it ahead of the wedding to make sure we could find it. Maybe check out Google Street view before visiting to ensure you know where to turn off!

Visited for a wedding fayre, venue is lovely, very friendly staff and great setting.

Very, very poor, no consideration from the owners for faults the staff had made, no service on the bar even though the people directing the wedding said it was available, changed seating plans putting people on tables where they felt out of place, a four booked room was charge as 2 doubles at twice the cost, the room for the wedding service was insufficient as the bride and the brides giver away could not walk side by side. The service was poor, the meal was outrages for the price compared to their normal menu. If you want to get married with a great wedding, avoid this place…
