Very safe environment and great staff, beautiful location and all round enjoyable experience.

Gorgeous place to visit if you like historical buildings. Amazing gardens and excellent heated pool. However I do not recommend staying overnight for people like me who like quiet and peaceful night. There's no sound proof and you could hear everything that goes outside your room. I woke up tired and I won't stay there anymore. And the price for what was in the room was far too high.

Fantastic service, amazing food, fabulous cocktails and wine list and beautiful setting.

An amazing setting. We did not stay there as we are still in “lockdown” so to speak. But we had the most superb lunch there in the garden. From starter to cheese plate, the food was superb. Definitely 5 Star! Highly recommend this hotel/eatery. And superb service. We will definitely be back there. That’s for sure.

We had a fabulous meal last weekend, thank you, DPH. Lucinda looked after us patiently (too much chatting to make decisions quickly) and the food was wonderful — beautifully cooked, presented and so tasty. It really is worth a visit as it is on great form at the moment.

We had a lovely time celebrating my in-laws Diamond Wedding Anniversary at Deans Place Hotel recently. The rooms were beautiful and the food (afternoon tea) was delicious. The staff are friendly and professional and they catered to our every need. Thank you for helping us celebrate and create some precious memories.

From the moment we walked in we were welcomed by the friendly staff of Deans Place. Lucinda the proprietor also welcomed us and remembered we wed here back in 2014. Not only did they upgrade our room we were greeted with a beautiful card and delicious chocolates. This little touch was greatly received and what makes this charm of a hotel so unique and personal. Evening meal-We ventured down to the AA Rosette restaurant for what we knew was going to be an evening of delicious food and great service. A complementary glass of Kir Royal (thanks Jo) was enjoyed by us and all the guests whilst we deliberated what to choose off the mouth watering menu.
Every dish was made to perfection-compliments to the chef! We spoke to Josh (the sous chef) after in the bar and he informed us how they prepared the rib eye steak. That was an education! Thanks Josh. Room-We went back to our clean, cosy room for the evening and woke up to a beautiful view of the river Cuckmere enjoying complementary coffee and biscuits in bed. Breakfast-You name it they had it… from full fry up to eggs royal and pancakes-delicious. Lydia our waitress made us feel so welcome. Some parts of the breakfast was buffet and some was table service. It goes without saying we didn’t need to eat for the remainder of the day. We took our unfinished coffees back to our favourite part of Deans-the lounge/bar area and sat beside the roaring fire watching people come and go.

It's a lovely old style country hotel. They allow dogs in the bar which is always a bonus. Nothing not to like about the hotel.

In an amazing setting at the foot of the Downs. Quiet with glorious views from the bedrooms. Staff are extremely helpful and the food delicious. Our grandson and his wife had their wedding ceremony in the beautifully kept gardens with a fabulous wedding meal plus evening celebrations.
My husband and I place Dean Place Hotel as our top venue for just relaxing and letting the worlds troubles slip by.
Can't recommend it highly enough.

We had our wedding at Deans Place at the end of June… I couldn’t recommend them more, the hotel and grounds are beautiful and perfect for a summer wedding and the staff were exceptional! They were friendly, helpful and well organised… big thank you to Sam and Jo and their teams who played a massive part in making our day special and perfect, nothing was a problem and our guests couldn’t have been more complimentary about all the staff and the food (which was delicious! ) Thank you so much, it was an unforgettable day!

It’s a beautiful location with comfortable rooms, a good chef and friendly staff. The pool is lovely and heated but needs renovating. In fact this excellent hotel would benefit from some TLC in several areas but no doubt prices would rise!

We held our wedding at your hotel on the 26th May 2019 and I just wanted to say how amazing everything was. The events staff were incredible from the first meeting till the reception dealing with all our queries and panicky emails! The customer service was incredible, the grounds and hotel looked amazing and we had so much positive feedback from our guests! Will definitely recommend as a wedding venue.

Perfect in every way. We held our wedding reception at Deans Place hotel. Katie and the two Jo’s were just fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and they made our day just perfect. This is a Lovely country hotel with beautiful gardens and a terrace with far reaching views over the South downs. We had great service and a warm friendly welcome.

The food here is brilliant, I especially enjoy their afternoon tea and the scones are big and fluffy. Everyone is so helpful and service is always with a smile. My three year old daughter is always made to feel welcome and there's always a highchair on hand. I couldn't recommend Deans Place more!

I got married at Deans place at the end of July this year and I could not recommend this place enough! Throughout the day and for weeks afterwards all our guests were complimenting us on choice of venue and my husband and I could not agree more. We booked nearly 2 years in advance and the process from then up until the day was so smooth with Deans and we felt very at ease. Chelsey who sorted us out on the few weeks leading up and on the day was an absolute star and we could not thank her enough! We must say the reason we chose Deans in the first place was due to the menu choices and this did not disappoint! The vast amount of options meant there was something for everyone and it was so delicious! This goes for wedding breakfast and evening buffet! We are so pleased that made the decision to go with such an incredible venue! It was truly special and so perfect for us! Wish we could do it all over again! Thank you to all the team at Deans place for making our day so magical.

Very nice place for afternoon tea. My daughter had her birthday 'do' here. The service was great, the quality of the afternoon tea was lovely. The Private room was beautiful. Great access to the gardens as well. Dean's Place sets itself as a premiere place, which it kinda is, however, there are no spectacular views or historic significance to this place which leaves it open to criticism for premiere pricing. There aren't many luxury places in this area so are able to corner the market, which they do very well. I like Dean's Place and generally give it the thumbs up.

Quickly served in the bar and also ordered the Sussex Cream tea. The scones and lemon curd were fantastic, as well as the fresh raspberry jam. Would recommend.

A bit… odd. Nice enough in places (admittedly they were in the middle of a very long term refurb), and gorgeous grounds. But strange not to have drinking water available in the rooms — free bottle of water are available, but two at a time from reception.

Lovely village, room OK, poor Wi-Fi and no mobile signal. Ate in the village in the evening so can't comment on the restaurant but the breakfast was good.

Recently went as guest at wedding. It's a lovely hotel in gorgeous surroundings. All staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was lovely, everyone was commenting on it in the positive! Everything ran smoothly, really impressed. Dog friendly.

Very poor service in The Dining Room for Sunday lunch, and the food was not very good. Won’t be going again.

From the beginning the team at deans place hotel and in particular the events team were brilliant, from initial meeting and showing the venue to booking and making adjustments for the day! Jo was fantastic thought out the later planning and she also was there to make sure the day ran well. And it could not have been smoother! She liased with us as we made alterations and amended guests as we got closed and some changes were made. We had some good meetings where the entire day… was planned out with how we wanted it and also accommodated other arrangement such as my best man needed a projector for his speech… There package was great and included so many little things that you can Do without having to collect and buy for a single use on a day and took some of the pressure of planning away. They worked closely with all of our other professionals who were involved in the day to ensure they were set for the day. We did have to make a change on the day to inside as the grass was soaked but we still managed to have to owl deliver the rings even though he did not want to fly as he had been poorly. Again Jo and the team were very calm and delt with informing myself and changing things around seamlessly over the day. The food was fantastic and everyone enjoyed it from what I heard. The day was so nice and even though my wife and I didn’t stop moving it didn’t feel chaotic or hectic at all, and there was always someone around to get us another drink or a chair for 30 seconds!

Very professional and very tidy. Lovely people and lovely grounds. Only had half a pint so I can't comment on prices but the half pint wasn't too expensive.

Great country house hotel. I was walking and I was worried that my boots were very muddy and they took that in their stride and made me feel welcome.

Only stayed for one night, but very helpful staff nice setting, only niggle car park is a small but there is another around to the back.

We stayed here for two nights in March. The hotel is beautiful, the food is great but the room had some minor issues. Our room had single glazed windows and gusts of wind seemed to make it through the window panes and into the room. Even with the heating on full the room was slightly too cold to be comfortable. Other than that, the room had a big comfortable bed, a decent flat TV, good Wi-Fi reception and a decent sized bathroom. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room and two 500ml water bottles provided — more can be requested at reception. The breakfast consisted of a big table of continental offering — croissants, fruits, yogurt, cereals, juices and milk. It is possible to also order a cooked English breakfast in addition to the continental breakfast. I was impressed by the choice — some of it well above the usual full English e. G. Smoked salmon and omelettes. There's plenty of parking in front of the hotel. The grounds are also beautiful. There are a few rooms within the hotel which are great for lounging in and relaxing. There was no mobile network reception inside the room but it was available outside the building. The staff were friendly but at times seemed too preoccupied with their work to greet you as you passed reception. The cleaners were friendly, though.

We had our wedding here last Saturday 10th February 2018. What a beautiful venue. We really cannot fault the service or the lengths that Sam and the Wedding team went to, to make our day perfect. The planning was like a well oiled machine with everything running to time and Sam was so cool, calm and collected. The food was delicious and the children loved their burgers. My husband and I stayed in the four poster executive room which was beautifully comfortable and cosy with real oldie-worldie features Thankyou Deans Place for an exceptional day. This hotel is in a lovely part of the country. We only visited for lunch, so can't comment on the rooms etc. Food was very good and it had really nice atmosphere.

Was there for the works Christmas Party. A very enjoyable experience. I enjoyed the food and the waiters and waitresses we very attentive.

Fabulous hotel and dining restaurant. We often pop here during both summer and winter for just a cup of tea, glass of wine, quick meal or proper supper. Lovely privately owned hotel with excellent attention to detail.

This our third Christmas with Deans Place located in the picturesque village of Alfreston in East Sussex. Nestling at the bottom of the South Downs. Food, service and staff are truly wonderful making you feel like family. This is a country hotel, some of which dates back to the 14th century. Don't expect lifts and aircon etc. This is a beautiful family run hotel in an absolutely gorgeous location where you are treated as a person and not a room number. They are a dog friendly hotel with rooms reserved for dog owners so you don't have to leave mutley behind. He or she would also be made very welcome. Visit and enjoy.

I was attending a private function for a friend's wedding reception and had never been there before. Wow! It did not disappoint The staff were courteous and friendly and the service and food were amazing… I would definitely recommend it as a venue xxx.

Rooms are a bit outdated — old and run down carpets needs changing, and the bathrooms could use an upgrade. Wi-Fi is outrageously slow/ poor. To make things worse, there is no mobile phone signal in the area (zero signal on both O2 and Vodafone networks). For the price, I would have expected it to be a lot better than it actually is. Staff however are friendly, and they seem to always have a room at the last minute…

We went for afternoon tea and we were served in the beautiful garden. All the staff were polite and attentive, even though there was also a wedding taking place. Anna, our principle waitress was totally charming and made us all feel very special. A fantastic treat@

This place makes money from weddings hence the eye catching gardens are immaculate. However the carpets to the rooms are threadbare and need an upgrade especially the bathrooms. I am not particularly tall but my head could not get under the fixed shower head. Reception needs to engage better with its customers.

We were 4 people ordering 2x cream teas at £19 95 each. It would have been nice therefore to be served with 2 separate cake trays instead of placing everything on just one stand. We all had lunch and did not feel we could manage a full portion each. The ambiance and food was lovely though.

Lovely hotel in a pleasant location. Restaurant offers fine dining, but there's also a bar-menu alternative. We sampled both and found them of good quality. Wide ranging buffet menu for breakfast with additional items available to order from the kitchen. Room was clean and comfortable: nicely appointed.

A charming hotel with attentive staff. Rooms are very attractive with high grade furnishings. Set in a lovely location with views of the South Downs and a walk away from the lovely village of Alfriston.

Rooms were reasonably clean, but definitely nothing like the pictures. A lot of foibles; Clean towels rest touching toilet brush, kettle filled with debris, toilet broken. Food not available during buffet at breakfast. 20m later food was pretty horrific. Bar and service staff were very friendly. Definitely sleepable but not recommended.
