Reviews of Steppes Farm Cottages 4*
Booked this for 2 nights to attend a wedding in Monmouth just down the road. We had 2 young children with us. The properties themselves are really very nice and cosy, had it been just my wife and I then I would also say romantic! However, really disappointed with having to pay for electricity, hot water, and heating. This is not justified when I'm already paying £130 per night. No hand soap provided and the Wi-Fi didn't work either. The location was ideal and the grounds were also lovely. Beds were comfy although the double bed was only the basic size, not king or queen size. These cottages provide the basics but they are certainly not 'Luxury' as they claim to be.
Generally good, accommodation fair, restaurant excellent. Overall good but not excellent,

Damp. Sums it up in one word. Mildewy and damp. Not luxury. Older and basic. Lovely views, though you can’t walk anywhere. In response to the owners reply (more like excuses) I have been in the UK for the past 17 days. Not a drop of rain. When we asked the staff in the reception if there was anywhere to walk they told us simply NO. It was all private land and we would have to drive somewhere to go for a walk. And as to their beautiful grounds to stroll on, there is none. A cottage like this is indeed old. But it was falling apart and quite dingy.
