Reviews of Beancross Restaurant And Hotel 3*

Lynne G.

Ordered steak pie and first time I've experienced 'melt in the mouth'. Didn't have long to wait. Good price.

Kate S.

Rotten food awful staff. Waitress couldn't be bothered was more interested hovering around a group of men couldn't be bothered with families. So terrible I couldn't not leave a review avoid this place.

Gary S.

Great service in the restaurant this evening. Fast, friendly staff, and reasonable prices for good simple food. Would happily return.

Heather S.

Nice sized rooms, very bright and clean. Decently close to the airport for a morning flight. Nice breakfast included.

Alan G.

Came here for lunch. Service was very efficient, food was great and prices were excellent. Will go again.

Very clean spacious room. Bedding fresh and crisp white. Hotel staff professional. Pleasant and accommodating. Meals are excellent value. Service very quick. Overall rating 10/10. Would recommend to any age.

I love it here. Great food, atmosphere and company. The food is very very well priced for what you get. Would recommend to anyone. Steven the manager is a gem.

Lorna W.

Took a friend here for a special birthday lunch. First time for both of us. Service and menu choice was excellent. Will definitely be back.

Brian K.

Out for a birthday meal with the family and not a single complaint. Food, staff and the happy birthday singing from table service all top notch lol.

I have visited this restaurant many times over the years, it has changed hands a couple of times but the great atmosphere and freindly staff remain the same. The restaurant itself spans over three areas, personally I enjoy the conservatory the best as it's bright and allows a nice view outside. The only thing that made this a four star review and not a five star review is the food. It's well priced and good enough but often leaves a bit to be desired. It's questionable how much of the food is prepared at the restaurant.

4 people in our company. Starter of pulled chicken was cold and the side salad was very wet with water. Main meal I had mushy garlic bread served with mushroom pasta which had 4 mushrooms. Partners cajun chicken was ordered with no side salad it arrived with side salad and he had to wait from another meal. Sirloin steak had a huge BONE in it. Cheap enough meal but you only get what you pay for.

Room lovely. Extremely well appointed for a wheelchair user. Brilliant. Food ok — lack of vegan options.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, food was served quickly and tasted good. Very good value for money and a very nice place on the inside. Would recommend. Also has play area for children which is helpful.

This is a great little restaurant that I have taken most of my family and friends to. The food is superb and I've never had a bad meal, nice clean helpful staff and the facilities available are top notch

Iain C.

Excellent pricing policy and food is a good standard as is the service. Would recommend.

First Class, great food service and price

Yes Bean Cross does nice food, my husband goes for the steak pie a lot, & if you are a family & bring along young children there's a play area there which they can play & burn energy while you eat.

Nice enough venue but the meal was poor, my wife had steak pie and it was really bad with tons of bisto gravy. Steak was alright, but chips were cheap catering chips. Very unimpressed at my first and last visit.

We had a family and friends lunch at the Beancross. The service was excellent the staff very friendly and professional. Every one enjoyed their meal. The only complaint was from my 91 year old Mum who said the portion of steak pie would have fed two of her! We go quite often and the service and food have always been great.

Peter K.

Good for very young kids if you can get a table right outside the play area then you can keep a good eye on them. Decent food and cheap at 3 courses for £12 or 2 courses for £10. Bit steep for kids meal at £5. 95 and extra £1. 50 for fruit shoot on top however the play area is only £1 so you do save on the £3 charged by most of these types of kid friendly play area type restaurants. Not the place for romantic meal or high quality but does rate well for what it is. Good friendly and quick service.

If you don't like canned products, come and eat here. Cheap, fast and good.

Tasty selection of food, friendly staff, good value, what's not to like? Ideal for families too as there is a soft play area. There's also a bar with a few TVs to catch up on some sports. My wife and I had our wedding reception in the large hall. It was a great night, plenty of space for seats and tables, plenty of space for dancing, plenty of places to get away from the party to catch your breath too. The price of drink was good. I've been to a few receptions where guests have bought a round and didn't go back to the bar again because of the extortionate prices. Not a problem at the Beancross. The staff are also friend and very well organised whether it's having a meal or organising a wedding.

Great value. 3 courses for £12. In very pleasant surroundings.

Had food here for about 2 weeks now as staying up in the not so good travelodge. The menu at first seemed to have very little choice but certain dishes changed throughout the times I have visited. A lot of the staff were great such as Gary Scot and Mazza? All the girls were very helpful, a couple of the guys could do with an injection of happiness and maybe tuition on how to smile but that's forgivable given the weather outside and their stuck inside! Food is brilliant and not to complain about. The tomato soup was stretched on a few days though, either that or I was the only one eating it! The carrot and honey soup was delicious! Good family restaurant, but agree with previous post whereby there is sometimes too many people standing near reception desk twiddling their thumbs instead of serving. Overall a good place to eat! I would definitely go back.

Clean and efficiently run with polite and helpful staff. 2 courses for £10 or 3 for £12 menu has a good selection. Portions are generous and the food was good. Drinks reasonably priced too. Not sure if there is any other menu. Only had the two courses. Don't think I could manage three although the sweet menu tempted me.

Jason S.

Excellent food and service. Would really recommend the steak pie!

Alan M.

A great Christmas dinner, served by fast, efficient and friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Maria M.

Good value at £12 for a 3 course meal. Starter was lovely. Main meal was over cooked and I asked for my steak medium to rare and it was burnt. Pudding was very nice. Most of the waiting staff were pleasant.

Chris E.

Came here for dinner and breakfast, food was mediocre at best, but the service — stands out as some of the worst customer service I've experienced, waiting staff don't listen, and seem to be preoccupied with trivial matters than their job, what a shame!

Dolidh Y.

I love popping down to Beancross for a nice dinner out. The conservatory is absolutely stunning and our nieces and nephews love the soft play area. The food is lovely with a great range and the restaurant seems to be tidy, clean and well laid out, even for taking children.

Gillian J.

We were looking for a place to have lunch so we popped in here as we were passing. I decided to view the menu first as I'm vegetarian. I asked if macaroni cheese was the only choice for veggies, and she said it was, so we decided to go elsewhere. When are restaurants going to stop treating us like an afterthought. I would like to know if meateaters would go to a restaurant that only had one thing on the menu.

Lucy M

Came here for a lovely dinner on a Saturday night. It was quite full, but we managed to get a seat. Staff were wonderfully attentive, if anything overly so! We opted for the 2 course meal for £8, and my OH paid the supplement for the steak. We expected portions to be smaller because the the price, but they were extremely generous, so much so I'm glad we didn't opt for 3 courses! Food was typical pub grub, I had the macaroni and cheese, which came with chips, garlic bread and coleslaw. Afterwards I had a lovely brownie with ice cream and my OH had the cheesecake. Clean plates all round.

Liam H.

Been here a couple of times and the food has always been good. There is also a decent play area for the kids. I would advise to book a table in advance as it's always busy.

Chris L

Service wasn't great when we arrived, lots of people milling about the reception area and nobody seemed to be paying attention despite there being lots of staff. Food was good value but nothing great. Once we did get a seat the service was pretty good and the actual restaurant itself is pretty nice.

Jon B.

We were extremely pleasantly surprised by what we found here. We needed somewhere to eat whilst staying in the Travelodge next door and thought it'd be worth a try. The quality of the food was extremely good, the service very warm, welcoming and friendly and the setting was lovely. Add to that the fact that a 3 course meal was a flat rate of £10 and I'm not sure what more you could ask. I would happily rate this place extremely highly to anyone that asks.
