Surprised by some of the bad reviews. I found the hotel to be above average; especially for the price, location, and time of year (summer holidays). Basically, the West of Scotland had been booked out, and everything was extortionate; but Muthu Ben Doran was very affordable for the two rooms I got. Nice view of the mountains and forest from my room! Also, my mother and aunt went up top to the bar — they had an absolute blast! They couldn't stop raving about it. Karaoke, a bottle of wine, and lots of laughing. My aunt plans on returning now she knows about this place, train stops here — so easy for her to get away from the city. I'm sure when my mother or myself visit the UK again, this will be on our list to come back to.

"Luxury hotel" — LOL. No, it isn't luxurious whatsoever. It's a very basic and dated hotel. I asked for laundry services after having walked the first half of the West Highland Way. They could not offer it, or even direct me elsewhere. Check-in isn't flexible, the "bar" is a sorry excuse of a place that doesn't open until 5pm, and the overall vibe of the hotel seems like it is a couple of weeks away from closing its doors. The staff seemed nice and happy to help whenever I asked, but they unfortunately didn't seem to have any answers. For me it was a boon to put my feet up and have a shower, but for the price — there are plenty of other places along the Way where one can do this without paying nearly as much and for much better value to boot. I'm spending more time that I would like to admit wondering how this hotel is still in business.

Nice location but staff wasn't very friendly. Ran out of food for breakfast on the Sunday morning, not alot of dinner options but what they had was nice and well presented. Spent two nights here but didnt sleep very much as they had washing machine on all night in the room next door, not the cleanest either as had a few dead spiders hanging from roof.

The room really cold, during the night I had to put the wind jacket…. And we are to the 24th of June… of course, nothing a shower in the morning. English breakfast… see photo… do not comment. Could not fault the hotel.

Stayed overnight 26th May, fabulous evening meal and breakfast next morning. Staff were polite and well mannered. Stunning views from bar lounge and dining room. Now I know why the bar and dining area are on the top floor.

We had a very enjoyable holiday in April with Mutha Highland Heritage. Having stayed at this lovely hotel before, we knew what to expect. The food was lovely staff were friendly and the new coaches are brilliant along with our drivers and tours. The only disappointment was we didn't get inside hollow mountain and of course the Entertainment.
