First hotel stay since lockdown & very much enjoyed it. Staff friendly and helpful, felt measures in place were reassuring.

Last week during Christmas lunch, I was looking for a quiet place to nurse my daughter and Anna went above and beyond in providing us with a room to do so. She was very friendly and professional.
The food was great and the service fantastic.

We went today for Santa Sunday! just a lovely afternoon. Food was lovely! staff so friendly and attentive. Great activities for the kids! santa was great! just a brilliant afternoon. We will definitely be coming back next year for santa sunday! x.

What a place the staff are lovely the place is spotless the rooms are amazing the food is lovely perfect place.

Disappointed with check in told on our arrival at 4pm they could not accommodate us in the restaurant. Receptionist not very proactive in dealing with my complaint about it. We spoke to the restaurant direct and they managed to fit us in at 8.45 and the food and service was amazing. This hotel should hold a few tables for guests arriving as there is nowhere close by to go eat. Room was clean and comfortable however we had to request milk in the morning as housekeeping had not restocked from previous guests.

The driver of the mini bus is extremely rude and angry, he gets upset with other drivers to easily and should not be carrying passengers if he can not behave in a professional manner.

Had a lovely relaxing time here, lovely big room, food good, swim and gym brilliant and a fabulous relaxing massage.

Lovely hotel although a bit pricey for extras. Set in lovely grounds. Pet friendly. Spa and the staff in it are fab. Would return.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Slight problem at check in but the Duty Manager sorted it out in minutes and went out his way to make sure all was ok. Our meal in Blair's Restaurant was absolutely fantastic. Then Breakfast and lunch next day too. Our spa treatments were lovely too. Looking forward to coming back soon.

My partner and I stayed here as I was attending a family funeral. We paid for a room upgrade after we arrived It was late after our 6 hour drive so we had a lovely meal then off to our upgraded room. The room was not clean. Coffee stained walls, torn bed sheet, cob webs and lots of dust everywhere not to mention old stale crisps on the floor. I complained. Was not offered another room at all. Next morning spoke to duty manager Amir the duty manager He apologised said he would refund the upgrade and look into it with his housekeeping team then email me. A month later after I’ve called twice still no email and no calls returned. This is not satisfactory service from a hotel of supposedly very good standard. Please explain why you have not been in contact with me.

Great hotel, fantastic food and service. We paid extra for a "Privilege" room, an extra £25 for a handful of extras. To be honest I think I'd stick with a regular room next time, they are a very high standard. The reason for the 4 star is that we tried to check in at 2pm and was told the room wasn't ready, and would be good to go in 30 minutes. We had spa treatments booked at 2:30pm so we were given 2 free drinks as an apology. We finished our drinks and headed to the spa, we returned at 3:15pm to try and check in to once again be told that the room STILL wasn't ready. Again, 2 free drinks later and we're back in the bar. This time covered in oil from our massages and in soaking wet clothes (the spa is around 100m from the hotel and it was lashing rain. ) we just wanted to check in and get showered and changed. So at around 4pm I tried for a third time to check in, this time the room was finally ready. When we got to the room it was clean and tidy. I'll go back again but fingers crossed this time check in is a little easier! I would have hoped that after the room not being ready for our check in time initially, the housekeeping staff would have been asked to focus on the room knowing that we were waiting. Clearly not.

Immaculate room that you will have to find through a maze of corridors. Succulent and very tasty meal. Perfect service. We liked it. Small park in front of the hotel castle.

Myself and my partner have had an amazing evening, the food was amazing the room is gorgeous and the bed is comfy. Staff couldn't be any more helpful to be honest our evening has been so good that the breakfast tomorrow could be awful and it would still have been an amazing stay. I'll update in the breakfast tomorrow Breakfast was fantastic.

New Sunday buffet started today! Well, fantastic! 5 stars! Starters, main course (including carvery) both wide choice and high quality. Not able for much pudding, but that looked great too! And all served to live music which was much better than "just background". Friendly and special! Swimming in their Spa tomorrow — will probably sink!

A great hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The long seat beds are a treat. The breakfast is very complete impossible not to find it to taste. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy. The Spa includes a Hammam, a Jacuzzi, a hot tub and a heated swimming pool. The setting is beautiful. Hotel which is worth a visit even for one night. We recommend it warmly and vividly.

We’ve had an amazing, relaxing time together away from the norm.
We were treated like royalty from all the staff.
The food was devine. Hubby is still drooling over his dinner last night and so am I. The dauphinois potatoes were to die for. Would quite happily have them for breakfast, lunch & dinner.
The room was stunning, clean & tidy.
The view from the room was gorgeous.
The whole place had a lovely relaxing atmosphere.

What a beautiful hotel. Everything, from the lobby to the rooms was impeccable during our early-April stay. Service was lovely, and our room was well-appointed. The shower was a delight, with 2 shower heads to choose from (overhead rain, or wand) after suffering through low water pressure throughout Scotland. We loved that there was a beautiful restaurant on site, although it was pricey for the quality of the food. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we find ourselves in the area.

We attended the fight Night in the function suite last night. The bar service was shocking. It took me 25 minutes to get served on arrival at 5.30pm and it didn’t get any better all night. You new the numbers to be catered for? The bar staff were very inexperienced for the numbers being catered for. I won’t go into the quality of the drinks served but it’s more like I would have expected at a festival than a hotel. To make things worse the queue for bar staff at the single till was also lengthy. You must try harder, I hope they don’t use this venue again unless you get the standard of service sorted out!

Fabulous hotel found by accident via Google search for hotels near Robert Gordon University. The superior room was excellent. Super King sized bed with deep mattress and thick mattress topper. Slept like a log. Breakfast was amazing with a wide range of hot and cold buffet items and a made to order menu with eggs Benedict and other items. Swimming pool was a nice temperature and jaccuzi made you feel relaxed. Will definitely return.

A bit 'once of big grandeur', now old and worn. Rooms look at blowers of the airco. Very loud, rooms hot, no option to close heating. Windows are blinded to avoid looking at those nasty piping. Not my first choice. Staff friendly, food ok. Breakfast was good.

Staff were very pleasant, the food was excellent, the rooms were as you would expect clean, comfortable and well kept. The breakfast was in my opinion top notch, good selection and plenty of it. Can't beat a place that serves a a proper start to the day.

A beautiful hotel that has a dazzling charm!
The historic castle has been beautifully brought up to date without destroying the character of the castle. The entire building technology is new, just like the sanitary facilities and all the baths. However, the overall appearance is still from the last century.
The entrance hall is exactly how you imagine a castle. A fireplace, which is also regularly fired, the reception with the huge wooden staircase and the whisky bar are just some highlights.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Just come back from a 2 night DBB break. We got a bargain price so I’m likely to be biased but Ardoe House can’t be faulted in any way.
Our room was spot on, the bed was huge and very comfortable. Nice view over the gardens towards the river.
Food in the restaurant was excellent particularly the desserts.
All the staff are friendly and helpful.
We did use the pool/sauna and this is also very good.
I would definitely recommend Ardoe House.

We have a wonderful time at this hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious and the staff are very friendly. Driving up and seeing the castle look was impressive. It's also nice being out of Aberdeen where you have a little more privacy and it's very quiet. The spa is well staffed and they do great massage and manicures. Also really nice to have a small refrigerator to store snacks for those late-night cravings.

Conditioned Castle. It's a long way from Aberdeen.

Attended for professional event. 3 night stay including on site conference and banqueting. Beautiful location, facilities are high standard (although a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss in some areas). Food is good and service is excellent. Travellers tip: you would need a car (or a taxi) to get here!

Fantastic hotel to visit if you have dogs. The rooms for those with dogs are at the back of the hotel, with a door that provides access directly to the grass and wooded areas behind the hotel. Ideal for last pees. The room was lovely and unlike many hotels, the rooms where dogs are allowed are to a very high standard and have been maintained. The food in the restaurant was really good and the waiting staff were attentive, though not intrusive. The duck and apple crumble souffle were superb. The hotel itself is beautiful. The main building has retained it's grandeur of once being a stately home. Thoroughly recommend.

We were pleasantly impressed by the hotel and the garden around it.

Came for a spa night for 2 with my partner, included room, 2 spa treatments, evening meal and breakfast — great deal and value for money. The room was beautiful, immaculate and very comfortable. The food was outstanding, the evening meal was a set menu as it was part of the deal however there was a great choice and not only was the food delicious but the service was really good too! My only fault would be with the spa, it was quite dated and not much of a spa in my opinion. The staff were lovely and helpful but it really wasn't the 'spa experience' I expected. Also the swimming pool etc was in need of a bit of attention. If it hadn't been for those points, my review would have been 10 stars as the hotel and grounds were absolutely beautiful!

My wife and I were returning to Ardoe House Hotel for our 5th Wedding Anniversary, having had our Wedding in the hotel. We chose Ardoe as our wedding venue because it is a stunning building and the food was fantastic. I am pleased to say that our return to the hotel was not a disappointment 5 years later. We had an excellent meal served by thoroughly friendly and professional staff. The room was very modern and very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable! All in all, I think that Ardoe House is a great place for a Wedding and an Anniversary trip!

The reception staff were welcoming and personable, in particular the young man who runs the bar. He is taller with glasses and hails from the south. This young fellow helped us with finding parking in Aberdeen so we could park and enjoy the day exploring. The next day he provided a destination of Stonehaven for us to drive to and enjoy. The spa is top notch and well staffed and clean from the gym to the pool and the sauna etc. The dining choices were perfect as were the food preparation and service. Sleeping was so easy on comfortable beds in quiet the rooms very well appointed and large. This is an excellent value for slipping away to the quiet of the country whilst remaining close to the city of Aberdeen.

We really liked the stay in this hotel. After hiking a lot during the day, we were able to relax wonderfully in the evening in the pool, sauna and steam room. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was also good. The staff were very accommodating.

Beautiful hotel, staff very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately, as a not quite good paying customer (nevertheless a sufficient room rate), you are accommodated in the back of the hotel, which is then rather no longer locksin-like from my point of view. For breakfast you have to pay on it and do it properly.

The hotel's facilities and design are of high quality. It is set just outside Aberdeen in beautiful, quiet grounds which created certain sense of peace and serenity. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast that was included in our stay was filling. Spa staff and facilities are also great. The only thing that lets this hotel down is a complete lack of public transport links which made our journeys to the city centre and back quite expensive, so unfortunately, we won't be coming back here. A couple of regular mini buses to and from city would be beneficial for those who don't or can't drive.

Comfortable bed, friendly helpful staff on reception. Dining staff adequate. Good to be able to accommodate my dog although only dog bin on site was clearly long overdue to be emptied. Only one ordinary tea bag. Towels were discoloured and some marks. Scalded arm on towel rail getting out of shower. Had a long walk to room including stairs with a lot of baggage and no offer of assistance.

Very pleasant stay. Very nice atmosphere. We had drinks at the bar, and ate there. The staff was very helpful and kind to us. The food was very good. Lovely setting in the old manor; and our new room was very nice and comfortable.

Nice building, comfortable communicating rooms with fantastic shower, ample parking, decent breakfast (not acceptable-in my opinion-that cappuccino and espresso were extra! ), young but professional and kind staff.

Nice Hotel but needs more care.

We stayed one night with our dogs so that we could attend a local event. We really appreciated the room we were given, which was a long way from reception, but was therefore quiet, and had a door nearby leading to the extensive grounds. It was therefore very easy to let the dogs out for comfort breaks and fun. The room had obviously recently been refurbished and was very well equipped and comfortable. The swimming pool is lovely. The old part of the building has many beautiful period features and has been sympathetically refurbished. The only disappointment was a 40 minute wait for a light meal in the Drawing Room, although the food was very good when it eventually arrived. It was not busy — we were the only people eating! I do think the staff on reception could use some better training. We were not bothered, but I can see that foreign visitors might be less than impressed. Receptionists need to smile, look guests in the eye and generally be more friendly. The young staff we met around the hotel were much better at this. We would recommend this hotel for a relaxing break, and would stay here again.

Very impressive place, the room very spacious and modern, ditto the bathroom, pity for the poor maintenance (door handle broken, sink faucet broken), cleanliness in general is quite poor. Great breakfast, the restaurant inside the hotel in the two days we stayed has always proposed the usual menu, among other things the dishes are expensive and not plentiful. The pool is very large, the whirlpool part in time, with quite long intervals.

Very nice hotel in a beautiful setting. The service was excellent — everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The hotel does not have air conditioning and it was a little warm during our stay. But this is probably not a problem usually since it's a cool climate. The breakfast buffet was very good, with a lot of variety. We were very happy with our stay.

One of the nicest 4* hotels I've stayed at in the UK. I planned to book through your call centre. However, they wanted to charge me an additional £9. They could not quite grasp that it was not a good deal to pay more for the same thing! The check-in staff were efficient. The room was well designed, well maintained, and clean. Only criticism is that the toilet seat was loose. Almost a trivial issue. Breakfast was enjoyable — if expensive. The young lady who showed us to our table on both mornings was particularly helpful and efficient. Good choice of items, and very well prepared cooked.

Spacious and modern rooms. Lacked the hair dryer which instead was in the next room of my friends who had booked with us.

A charming castle that has remained classic even inside… It was very nice to stay at this place. The nearest town is a few miles away, but you don't have the urge to move away from the hotel:)

Only bad surprises!
We booked 2 rooms with friends to "spend the night in a castle".
Room reserved by telephone in a "grand Manor of standing" to meet at the limit in a small motel of passage near the station for the modest sum of 141 €/the night.
Mildew, dust, spiders and their habitats, dead flies, hairs in the shower, prison view facing a wall. Immediately arrived in the room, immediately left to ask to change it (with proof to support the mold of the coffeemaker and the dishes room). In the end, upgraded in a suite to make up for all of this, obviously without supplement, but with the evacuation of the shower completely clogged.
The next day a new drama, despite insisting on the phone to get the price in euro, we end up having to pay GBP 141/the night be €175 and there impossible to prove anything! A dialogue of the deaf. The management refuses to hear us, so we refuse to pay. That does not fit, … They debited our friends credit card after we left without their agreement and without any connection to us…

Attended an event there. Food and service were excellent. Bar prices were a little expensive.

Undisturbed week on business in serene countryside great room, lovely staff, excellent kitchen, good beer I'll be back.

We stayed a couple nights at this beautiful hotel in 2015 and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone wishing to visit Scotland and/or Aberdeenshire. The service in all aspects was top-notch! The rooms were clean, the staff friendly and courteous and the food was fantastic! This was our second trip to Scotland (our first trip was in 2013) and we are looking forward to returning again. When we do, we will definitely book a stay at this lovely place! We loved Soapies Pub so much, we found their wallpaper online and did a feature wall in our own home. Also, the steak sandwich in Soapies is FABULOUS! Keep up the great work! :D.

Attended the Deal & Dealmakers Business Breakfast. Quality of breakfast was good but staff were slow in serving. Nice function space.

A bit stuffy. Grand but a bit lacking in charm. Probably fine if your expectations don't run further than a quiet evening or two listening to elevator music in one of the equally soulless bars. Still, its marginally better than spending a night in Aberdeen itself.

The event was a hit, service was excellent, food was delicious. We stayed overnight because we live a little bit outside of the city so it didn't make sense to take a taxi in and out for the same price as paying the hotel room. Very reasonable price for the room and breakfast. The buffet breakfast was absolutely delicious. Best scrambled eggs I've had in a hotel. The room although spacious enough and clean, was a little disappointing because as we got into the room we went to use the coffee machine (nespresso) and it wasn't working but it was promptly replaced. I found out the following morning that the shower had also been damaged but not reported to the maintenance staff. Overall very good experience would definitely recommend.

Just spent a night in the Hotel taking in a Hogmanay Bash, it was a really good night service and food of a good standard, hope to repeat it next year.

Food was really excellent and very abundant. Breakfast is also top! Room unfortunately not so great. Dirt under the bed (never been sucked). Door lock in the bathroom (on the inside) is totally broken. Also, the lock on the room door is in need of renewal. Unfortunately it smelled in the Hotel after the carpet glue. You can open the window. In the Spa area, unfortunately the Pool is absolutely filthy (on the Overflow mold in masses). Hot tub a bit outdated and broken but usable. Staff however very friendly.

I had my wedding reception here and the hotel staff was amazing. The rooms are nicely appointed and very comfortable. The food we had during our stay and for the reception was amazing. The staff was always helpful and available when we had any questions. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and I'd recommend a walk around the grounds. It is far enough outside of town to be peaceful but close enough that a getting a cab isn't out of the question. If you do choose to stay in a suite I would recommend the Devenick as it has spectacular views of the hotel grounds. I will defiantly be staying here again when I'm in Aberdeen and would recommend Ardoe to anybody. Truly a top notch hotel.

Lovely hotel from outside and public areas but when you open your hotel room door, its like a time warp. Surely somewhere so nice should be reflected throughout.

We recently stayed 3 nights at this hotel durring the begining of October, the hotel itself was fine, the local staff were very freindly but there were issues with the reception staff and booking in was time consumeing. We booked a suite, but were given a room (No. 3) in the old house, which was adequate for a small double bed but little else, we complained twice but were advised this was designated as a suite? (my understanding of a suite being more than one room / area). The bed was extreemly uncomfortable and neither my wife or myself had a reasonable nights sleep durring or stay, however the room was kept clean durring our stay. The old house principle reception rooms / bar / dinning room did live up to expectations, however we did feel that the hotel was a little remote. We did get the feeling that customer care (at reception) was almost non existant. We would need a substancial enticement to revisit this hotel.
