Reviews of The Bath Arms Hotel 4*
Nice sandwiches friendly staff chips were lovely 😊
Brilliant food lovely atmosphere brilliant service.
We had lunch Tuesday and Wednesday food was delicious, staff was very helpful and polite.
Lovely setting. Excellent decor. Friendly service. We had to wait for sometime for our food but oh it was most definitely worth the wait. Had the coconut prawns for a starter, excellent presentation, superb flavour & good portion. Had the crispy chilli beef Thai salad, again excellent presentation, superb flavour & a very good size portion. Food was absolutely 5*. The food isn't cheap but then you get what you pay for in my opinion. The wine is a little expensive but it seems to be the norm in most quality establishments now. Overall the whole experience at the Bath Arms was excellent. I would highly recommend this establishment.
We had english breakfast here today, sunday 27th, it was absolutely beautiful. Full of quality, freshly cooked and nicely presented food. Deffo one of the better ones I had in the last 5 years. Highly recommend.
Lovely food, very attentive staff.
Came for a surprise birthday meal. the meals are highly priced and some very small portions. Charged extra for veg! the burgers & fish n chips were excellent. Staff were not attentive tho a sign on the bar said they were. Staff miserable to the point of being rude. Didn't make it a pleasurable experience. Nice pub with restaurant prices and lack of service. Such a shame. I won't be back.
Enjoyable stay, room was clean and bathroom was big, shower was great. Listed building, so they could not change the windows (no double glazing), it is on a busy road during the day but at night it was OK. We had our evening meals at the hotel and the food was delicious, only downfall was the room was very hot during the night, it did have a floor stand fan but it was not very powerful. We would return though as overall it was very good. Visited Sept 2021.
Lovely food cooked to perfection would highly recommend a visit 10/10 well done to all the staff.
Just booked in to this lovely pub. Hotel rooms are brill. Only here for 2 days so booked into restaurant say nite. Staff very friendly. Hotel nice location right in centre.
Good service. Good Beer and Quality food, what more do you want. Superb pub 🍻🍻🍻 Cheers and all the very best in the near future 👍👍
The food was lovely. One round of drinks and 2 courses at a cost of £77. Asked if we wanted deserts and feeling full the bill atrived. No asking if we want a 2nd round of coffees or left to digest our food. The card reader arrived with the bill so we had w drink at the riverside inn.
Really likes this place — food excellent.
Thank you for the wonderful food and drink and fantastic staff on Christmas Day. Standards and cleanliness 5 ⭐️ tiny fresh hand towels in the ladies room, champagne glasses bling presentation of food beautiful.
Great food and service. Lovely and comfortable.
Food was delicious. Nicely presented. Best meal out we have had in a long time. Staff were very attentive and did not have to wait long for meal or drinks. Would highly recommend…
Great food, good service.
Great food friendly staff, felt very comfortable there would definitely recommend it.
Great place to get away mind you only been here I half a day.
But so far staff lovely and helpful food is great and nice choices not to big a menu which in my opinion is better
Would recommend for a few days away.
Lovely lovely staff. Jackie is so helpful and beautiful meals. It is just a lovely place to call your local.
My partner treated me to a birthday dinner here on our weekend away in Cheddar. Food was absolutely spot on! And they made extra fuss over me as it being my birthday with a special dessert. Thankyou so much! Friendly staff and a cosy bar area! ❤️
Stayed for two nights, can’t fault the place, the staff and owner are very friendly and helpful.
Lovely lunch, tasty food which was well presented and friendly welcoming staff.
Amazing tasty food, came twice during our 4day trip, atmosphere and staff great.
Great staff, comfortable large rooms good food if a bit pricey.
We are blown away by how lovely this place is. We’ve been here one night and have one more to go. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Food and drinks great quality and very generous portions at breakfast. Room is just so comfortable with lots of little thoughtful touches. And so clean. We just live it here. Can’t fault a thing. Good price and no extra charges for parking.
What caught our attention was the fact that the sign outside said "seriously good food". We only wanted a drink but decided to put their claims to the test.
They do not disappoint!
the staff (bar and restaurant) are all very friendly, the atmosphere is fantastic and the food is … well … seriously good!
Lovely and spacious room, comfy bed, superb en-suite and a great breakfast. Highly recommend this place to stay!
Clive & Caroline.
Didn't stay here just came for s drink, lovely atmosphere and lovely surrounding.
For the first time ever we decided to enter The Bath Arms after living in Somerset for years. What a great setting we had a excellent lunch service was kind and friendly such a lovely place to relax eat and drink. Thank you.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Didn't eat but the local ale was great!
Visit the bath arms every time we come to Cheddar. Always welcomed, lovely atmosphere, great service and amazing food.
It was lovely to be remembered from last year
Mr Considerate.
Great food lovely friendly staff. Facilities extremely clean.
Plz check your food carefully before eating at the bath arms I found a long hair in my salade when I spoke to the manager she told me the wind must have blown the hair from my head into the salade as she has no long haired staff in the kitchen! Great shame the manager let's down her own pub as many of the bar staff and waiters are very helpful and professional needless to say I will not be eating there again.
Wonderful location after a day out at longleat. Very quick service and friendly staff.
Had a few drinks outside went in to have some food checked out the menu, saw a few people eating meals but the price for burgers and what you actually got was just too overpriced and decided to eat else where. There was a bar area and a restaurant area the restaurant area looked way to posh and pretentious for us to go into and put us off. Need to lower prices of meals as it's way overpriced even for simple burgers menu wasn't that great either not a lot of choice hence why we ate elsewhere.
Good food friendly staff and pretty surroundings. Nice outdoor seating areas.
Excellent service and really high quality food. Would definitely recommend!
We stayed in Bath Arms for 2 nights and we loved it. The room was fab. The staff was very helpful. And the food was just amazing. Thank you so much for looking after us. You made our Longleat trip memorable. Thank you x.
Great food, it really lives up to its 2 rosettes, not A lot for kids but great place to relax and enjoy a pint or two. Had one of the best starters of my life pressed pork belly scotch egg and apple sauce and a lovely steak. Will be going again when in cheddar.
Amazing food and service. Loads of gluten free options and staff friendly and very knowledgeable. The only place I've been that doesn't make me feel like I'm a nuisance asking for gf. Really look after their customers and go the extra mile. Would certainly recommend.
Went in for a pint, Butcombe a lovely ale on tap, and kept watching food coming out of the kitchen, and it looked good, so I ordered a burger and chips. It had cheese, bacon and pickled slaw and was very delicious. The chips were also very good but the portion was a bit small. But I'd order it again.
Upon arrival a warm and friendly welcome. Rooms are rustic and furnished lovely. Food in the restaurant was cooked to perfection and again the hospitality was exceptional. Breakfast shows they will accomodate any requests. Well done we will be back.
A great spot to grab a drink or dinner in the evening. I really enjoyed it and the staff were very friendly and polite. At the end of the evening we also got a free drink as we tried to order after the closed how cool is that. The seating area outside is very nice and relaxing! I highly recommend.
It must be ok if you live in cheddar as it is the only pub, sat here with our first pint of the holiday which will be the last one in this pub. Over priced flat warm beer soup on the menu even though it's 90 degrees outside the most misserable looking barmaid known to man. There are two caravan sites within walking distance you seriously need to target these people if you want to keep your pub open you are missing out on over three hundred people with money to spend but only at the right price with a friendly welcome.
The stars go to great staff and wonderful decor and space. No stars for portion of food (minuscule portions), freshness of salad (lettuce was browned on all edges) or greens (tasted off). I ordered the butternut squash salad and hugely disappointed as were 4 other people in our party. We had to fight hard to find the butternut squash in our dish! Definitely not value for money. The chips were served with crouton like texture. An upset stomach from the meal so question whether the meal given to me was indeed vegan due to my lactose intolerance. One disappointed customer.
I will try to be fair. The food… very good quality, no issues. The portion sizes… far too small (particularly the TINY garlic mushrooms). The prices (especially drinks) are too high and the young bartender was rude, superior and aloof. All in all, ok but could be far far better.
Food and hospitality was outstanding, great atmosphere, beautiful decor, couldn't have been happier with my experience, great place to check out if you're anywhere near Cheddar and are looking for a great meal.
Fantastic hotel 10 minutes walk from the gorge. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. There is lots of outdoor seating in the front and back. Staff are extremely nice and helpful, providing fantastic service. It is our second visit and most likely not our last.
Stopped for lunch, but the evening meals also looked very good. Had a gluten free bread option across all sandwiches and a great range of drinks (adults and children). Lunch was very good, served quickly and well presented. Free car park around the back and plenty of choice in terms of seating — dogs also welcome.
A truly spectacular hotel. Minutes from longleat it's ideal. Very friendly staff who were nothing but helpful. The room was gorgeous!
Hubby & I are in cheddar on a holiday break. I thought it would be nice to go for a meal on our last night. We both had the rib eye steak, I love mine medium to well & I must say its the BEST STEAK I'VE EVER EATEN, cooked to absolute perfection, hubby has his medium rare & his was amazing well. The staff are so lovely, they have the perfect balance of attentiveness… I actually wanted to kiss the chef. We live in didcot, oxfordshire & I personally would travel for this steak… Thanks for the alarm welcome.
It's a beautiful pub but the portion we had for £12 was starter size! Thank God for the chips! Food is tasty but we vegetarians would like more than a ramekin of Ratatouille! Nice service and dog friendly!
We had lunch at the Bath Arms for a birthday celebration. I had the fish and chips, probably the best I’ve ever had. My family had other meals and were very impressed. Highly recommended. Good service, polite staff. Lovely location. Thank you all.
Amazing food, service and setting. I would highly recommend. Great options for gulten free.
I haven’t eaten a meal here in a long while, so can’t review that — but regularly like to pop here for a cup of tea (they’re cookies are AMAZING! ). Really lovely place! I’d recommend!
Great place for a chat and a lovely bite to eat. And they do Daggers Ale!
The food was overpriced and nothing to write home about. My friend ordered a salmon starter and ended up with something the size of a postage stamp! If you're going to serve gourmet portions then the food needs to be gourmet standard; the quality and taste of the dishes suffered due to weird flavour combinations and bad attempts at stylish presentation.
Cosy, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Great food and even better kept beer. This is a pub where you go out of your way get to… certainly not your usual country pub. Highly recommended.
The Bath Arms has good food, especially Sunday roasts and Pizzas. The pub has various different dinning / drinking areas including outside. Currently being renovated too. Good location in town.
Myself and my colleague visited The Bath Arms while away on business. Really enjoyed our meal there! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the menu offered a good range of options. The main dish of Lamb Rump and an accompanying miniature Lancashire Hotpot was very tasty and the lamb was cooked a perfect rare. The dessert was also fantastic, with the chocolate and salted caramel Fondant melting in the middle just as expected. Good range of ales and gins on offer too! The bar area was quite empty mid week and as such felt quite cold but they did have two open fires on the go which added some nice atmosphere to the place! Would definitely return again.
Brilliant provision for a large (60+) family function. The buffet service was excellent and the staff were absolutely amazing, anything that we needed they provided, great for us to be able to get on with the occasion and have no concerns. The management here is excellent too and planned everything beautifully. Fantastic experience and highly recommended to everyone who asks!
Went to a an absolutely packed BA today and the place was bustling. Despite that we got a table for 4, a bowl of water for the dog and we were served right away. Just a few short minutes and we were served a stunning roast dinner. Staff all very on point. Great lunch!
Great Sunday lunch, good size portions and really good service. Nice space in restaurant and suited having a young baby with us including changing facilities.
I only 2 night most time I was working taking put long least Christmas tree but the room was very good so was the food z.
Food was great, was taken aback by the prices initially but the roast I had was gorgeous. Friends enjoyed their food too, the fish was huge! Very good food and service.
Great food. We had a table of 15 with no pre-booked menu. The sevice was excellent and the food came out quickly. No complaints with any of our food. Would highly recommend for anyone in the area stop for food. Dog friendly too I believe.
Once you step out of the cold winter through the front door, you’re greeted by a wonderful, large, cozy room. The dining room was beautiful and we were seated by the (mock) fire which was lovely. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with a mural of a map of the surrounding area and cute clouds hanging from the ceiling. We enjoyed the fish and chips and the kedgeree. The cod was good quality and the hand cut chips were nice, albeit plentiful and a little soggy from resting under the fish. The kedgeree was good — delicately flavoured with a nice piece of undyed smoked haddock. We didn’t have room for dessert but the menu looked fab (as does any menu with sticky toffee pudding). Highly recommended. Would definitely return when next in the area.
Love this place, friendly staff, food is excellent. If you have a longleat ticket you get 10% off food. So perfect if you've just been to the safari park.
This is a really nice place, very well kept. Food is fantastic and rooms are warm and comfortable. However they seriously let their selves down with the breakfast, a very disappointing shambles that I wasn't expecting especially once you've paid their incredibly inflated prices.
Great friendly interesting place. Didn't use accommodation hence 4 stars.
A fantastic pub in an idyllic location, visited with friends for dinner. The quality of locally sourced food was outstanding, my main course looked like something off master chef. The service was polite and professional. Can't wait to go back.
Took my too teenage children in for dinner, they had soft drinks I had a few pints of some well looked after local ale that was superb. Kids had the bath arm's burger each and couldn't finish the chips they were so big and I was talked into the chicken and leek pie by the barman… It was truly the best chicken pie I've ever eaten. The whole experience was quite wonderful and I'd recommend the place to any body.
Simply wonderful. Great food and probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.
Stopped of for a drink. Nice place. Was quiet when we went in. Didn't eat but might have give it a go if only we could see a menu on display. Why do some pubs hide menu's? Might have persuade us to stayed & eat or came back later.
I just want to begin with how helpful the staff are here. Stupidly, I booked the wrong dates online, and arrived a day too late for our hotel stay, evening meal, breakfast and longleat ticket collection. I was devastated, we drove 4 hours from Chester thinking everything was fine, not thinking to double check the booking (which was unlike me! ) On arrival at the bath arms, the young lady told us we have unfortunately arrived on the day we were meant to check out on, but she quickly said don't panic, let me see what I can do. Now normally, most places would be like 'sorry, but it was your own fault you got the dates wrong, you can't have your money back and that's that. ' But the staff here was able to get us a last minute room, which was beyond fabulous, change our ticket collection dates and still arrange for us to have our evening meal and breakfast the following morning. This is our second stay now, and I can't recommend this place enough. You guys are life savers, and kept me from a lot of stress and embarrassment of booking wrong dates!
We have been to the bath arms three times this week. Amazing food great staff, the decor and ambience is very good. Would recommend this place highly. Prices are very reasonable too.
Quick lunchtime drink. Lovely location, nice building, friendly staff. Recommended!
When we arrived, it looked very nice but we both thought, pub food at restaurant prices. How wrong were we. From the minute we walked in, the staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was nice and the bathroom had a bath and a shower cubicle. We ate in the restaurant in the evening. Again, the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent with a good choice of wines, beers and an extensive gin menu. We were offered a flask of fresh milk for our room for our early morning tea and coffee. All in all a great stay.
Friendly atmosphere, excellent service, thanks for squeezing in a last minute table of 8… Excellent food, great taste and amazing presentation.
The hotel is over 280 years old, full of carecture at every twist and turn. You will go a long way to find better food and very helpful staff. This is the best place to stay if you are going to Longleat Safari and Adventure Park.
Easy to find location, and a decent amount of parking. The pub is bigger than expected but still very nice. Good service and tasty food, I especially recommend the Salmon. The cheese board was a nice surprise at the end. Also a good touch to give us free bread at the start of out meal.
Loved it. Great service, restaurant quality food, and choose between relaxed pub eating or full restaurant experience. Oasis of fine entertaining in a sea of 'Cheddar' tourism.
Great! The rooms are lovely, as is the breakfast. The manager was brilliant as he gave us a lift when there were no taxis available. Massively appreciated!
In centre of p pretty village. Good car parking. Staff very pleasant. Food very good.
Food fantastic. Staff very friendly. Pub is clean and a great place to have some lunch or dinner.
We did a 2 day standard package at Longleat and stayed at the Bath Arms. Longleat is a family favorite. The rooms are just few, so summer time I recommend early booking. The hotel is very cozy, set in a heritage property. Rooms are all on ground floor as can be seen from the picture, and are very comfortable. Also for family if you book rooms side by side, then you get to sit out on a starry summers night and enjoy supper outside. you can park your car at the hotel, and just walk to Longleat as many times. The main Longleat entrance is just 4 mins walk down. Hotel staff is very personal and very friendly, as its a small hotel and never crowded. also breakfast is very well done and I always like to book rooms with breakfast included. Its more then worth the additional price. And unlike many commodity hotels, they offer a self service table with yogurt, coffee, toast, pastries, fruits, butter, jam etc, and additionally you can also order fresh food from a breakfast menu. the bar outside is very rustic, relaxed and beautiful. Ideal for a laid back evening after visit. All in all one of our personal favorite.
Pretty and nice location, dogfriendly, but our room was so small, that we had no space to leave our luggage anywhere: no drawers, no clothes hooks, the only small wardrobe was full with blankets and with a radiator. We had only 50 — 100 cm to squeeze ourselves around the huge bed to move. It´s a pity, otherwise we would have given 4 stars here.
Visited here for some food after a lovely day in Longleat and were not disappointed! Staff were lovely and the meal was fantastic!
Really relaxed and friendly. Lovely place to visit and sit in the sun. Very welcoming :)
Fantastic food and exceptional service. Would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. When my partner's choice of main course became unavailable after ordering, they gave him a free pint of cider by way of an apology. Can't ask for better customer service than that.
Friendly, helpful staff. Very charming place. The food was good with an excellent cooked breakfast. Room was spacious and comfortable. Perfect for a trip to Longleat.
Service was excellent led by two young eastern Europeans! And we want to leave the EU. Bizarre. That aside excellent beer and food too. Lovely garden.
Beautiful little place with very very friendly staff. Nice breakfast and the dinner was excellent! Not too far from Bath, and literally a few minutes away from longleat safari park.
We went there as it was recommended by a staff member at Longleat Safari park. We ordered our food, only to get the wrong food for our children, we ordered Tomato Pasta and they bought out Cheese Pasta. My husband has diary allergies and instead of Chick breast, they bought out a couple of chicken fillets! they forgot his spinach and sides! I ordered Duck leg — but the duck leg had no meat on it just the thigh! so I only had a quarter of duck to eat not half! We also ordered pudding for the kids — after waiting nearly 45mins we chased this and the waiter never put the order through, eventually it came over an hour later. The waitress said they are busy and have covered 50 plates! which was the wrong excuse and then advised the menu given to us is not on the tills, so they couldn't order the tomato pasta… worst place to eat and not worth the money as they never even apologised or offered anything to the kids in return who are 4 and 8 as they were so hungry they just eat the food and said they didn't want to go back there.
We had a great time there. Staff were extremely friendly. Food was fresh and great. Location is perfect. After a long day in the longleat Zoo, it only took us 15 minutes to go back to the hotel and rest. My little girls loved it so much too. We would go again in future.
Wanted a meal "early" (5pm) due to our babies sleeping routine. Nothing to the contrary on their website suggested this was a problem, only to be told no food till 6pm, which if you've got kids you know this hour can seem a lifetime. Was a shame as we'd read the reviews and we're looking forward to it.
Situated in an accessible location of Cheddar village with ample parking at the rear is this amazing little gem. Inside is very clean and the food is superb. I personally had the mixed grill and enjoyed all the meats bar the sausage (but that is a personal preference thing). The rest of my party had the Roast Dinner and all enjoyed it to the extent where they were even taking photos of the plate when it arrived it was so well presented. I can highly recommend a visit here as you won’t be disappointed.
Beautiful surroundings, friendly attentive staff & the food was increadable. Would highly recommend a visit.
Always pleasent and polite staff, good atmosphere and great food.
Really nice pub, we received a really welcome and the food and service were excellent. Ideal venue after a trip to Longleat.
Always a warm welcome, even when you are wearing cycling clothing. Nice pub to stop off for a coffee while out for a ride. I have not got around to visiting with the family yet to sample their menu.
Lovely, charming hotel with quirky rooms and loads of character.
In places like this prices doesn't matter, you just want to chill there no matter what. Very nice, very friendly, 5 stars, no hesitation…
Friendly, attentive staff with excellent, reasonably priced food. Highly recommend.
Brilliant food and great customer service!
Great atmosphere and decor, good selection of beers.
Was a surprise birthday present from my girlfriend. Brilliant pub brilliant staff and even better food! Everybody was so friendly and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be coming here again and will be recommending to our friends and family to come to The Bath Arms in Cheddar! Don't bother looking anywhere else in Cheddar.
We have just got home from our stay in the bath arms we were made very welcome as soon as we arrived very friendly atmosphere from all of the staff and owners the room was very clean and a nice comfortable bed and lovely shower and bathroom, the food was amazing and could not finish it all great value for money and will going back with friends and family had a great time :)
The new owners have really made this place look and feel a whole lot more welcoming. The place is really well run the food is great and really well priced. The newly refurbished rooms are very impressive. You will love the friendliness of the welcome here not mention the local beers.
This Hotel/Pub is pretending to be something its not! (The best way to describe it is a polished turd! ) First impressions, great location and a beautiful building however this is the only positive. Advertised as a FAMILY hotel. *No reception desk — You check in at the bar in between people ordering drinks. Welcomed with no smile or acknowledgement you are there. Not appropriate with a toddler. * Advertised as a Longleat Hotel — There was not one leaflet on Longleat?! This is the only reason we booked here. It is actually a 5 minute drive away. Opens at 10:00 and closes at 19:00hrs. Excellent day out! Expensive in there so if you can take a packed lunch. *Al a carte restaurant — Is actually linked to the bar area by an arch which you then pay more for? You are charged £3.25 for a small bottle of water on the table! The menu is very limited and very over priced. I had to ask for drinks, condiments etc as the staff did not offer these items. On receiving the bill they automatically charge a 10% service charge! What service? *Room — We were a party of 2 adults, a teenager and a toddler. We were the top floor in the eves. The windows could open fully with no safety latches. My toddler could of fallen out if not supervised. Where the skirting boards met the carpet there was a noticable dust/talc everywhere? I think the cleaners must just clean the main foot flow areas only as this had deffinately not been cleaned in a long time.
Great food and incredible countryside.
We have just returned from a Saturday Lunch at the Bath Arms, Horningsham; we won't be going for another any time soon. The building appears attractive at first which draws you in and the internal decor is pleasing. Unfortunately, that's where the positive finished. Initial service was extremely slow, even though the pub was almost empty and our table was right in front of the bar; no excuses there. When the order was taken and finally delivered (cooking time, in all fairness wasn't too bad), the soup arrived without the accompanying bread and after prompting for some it turned up, but without any butter (further prompting required! ). The rest wasn't much better for my party, a salad which was somewhat smothered in vinegar and the special menu prawns were literally just that — prawns in a glass cup; complete lack of imagination or extras. I won't go on too much, but to add insult to injury, when the bill came an additional 10% charge was added without consent under the guise of "optional service charge" which quite frankly was excessive; if you choose to pay by card it would be hard to adjust the "tip" to the amount you think was appropriate. Many pubs in the are are "upping their act" — whilst the Bath Arms — which used to be a tasteful, classy pub is now just a member of my rather short list of establishments to avoid.
Very friendly staff, good food, lovely atmosphere. Very relaxing. Great location. Walking distance of longleat. Rooms very cosy. Not sure why I haven't given it 5 stars. Thoroughly enjoyable stay. :) Mr and Mrs Hall.
Food is average at best. My wife sent her dish back once as it didn't taste of anything. For the price I'd expect it to be cock on. Lentils were undercooked too. I'm sure that its great if you want a pint but a massive disappointment for food.

Amazing Roast dinner. Everything was super tasty and well cooked. There were some lovely local Ales on hand pulled pumps which were absolutely excellent.
