Reception didn’t inform us the restaurant was fully booked when we checked in. The website clearly states the bar serves food during restaurant hours so we headed there instead to order food.
We were told at 18:45 to go to a pub 10 minutes up the road or wait till 20:00 to order.
We chose to wait and enjoyed a few drinks. We’ve just been told that the chef won’t cook us any food because he’s too busy with “the big tables in the restaurant” … not much of a chef if he can’t cope with full a full cover evening and a couple of burgers ffs, and now we can’t drive to the pub because we’ve had a drink. Shame the hotel itself is lovely, the staffs attitudes (except the receptionist and the lady behind the bar who has been run ragged all night) and this situation means we would never return or recommend it, numerous people are complaining about the same. **Edit
Someone at the bar was served food much to our disgust as was another couple. The guy from the bar came over to us and said “we are a hotel you shouldn’t be ordering take away” … couldn’t agree more we should not have to go to a hotel and order take away because they can’t cope. I asked him if he was the owner and he said yes so I explained exactly what had happened and instead of displaying good customer service he made excuses and said we should of pre booked the restaurant… I said yes we should of pre booked the restaurant but it clearly states on the website bar food is available during restaurant opening hours we should of been informed the staff were told not to serve bar food. Pompous, rude, lacking in any business sense, I doubt very much they would get repeat custom, it’s the poor one off visitors like us that line his pockets and can’t even be apologetic for this shambles.
