It's the best beach ever! There's a few pebbles but it's mostly sand and the best bit is when going in the sea there is only sand so you don't worry about standing on stuff! Also the shop and fish and chipy is a must with reasonable prices! Loved it! Going back tomorrow! And the sea was warm x.

This beach is beautiful and would be great for young families too. There are lots of sandy sections and some with shingle. The sea does not get very choppy and the beach has a gentle slope which means that you can swim 50 yards out and still touch the bottom! There are plenty of amenities nearby, and the sea is very clear and clean. It just has a lovely feel to it and is much quieter than Sandown. Do walk up and down the beach as there are some really quiet parts once you get away from the tourist-y bits!

One of the nicest beaches on the Isle of Wight. It runs through, all the way to Sandown. It is a very clean beach, with a very clear view of the ships, sailing into and out of the ports, on the English Channel.

Nice sandy beach. Few cafes close by to get drinks, ice cream and food. Two excellent crazy golf courses an arcade, amusements etc. Plenty to keep a family amused all day when the weather is nice. We had a brilliant day. Line of shale does make getting in and out of the sea at certain times a bit tricky (may just be my dodgy feet :) )

Lovely beach toilets and cafes nearby and you can also hire stuff like sun loungers and wind brakes.

The seafront is pretty good with decent facilities etc. Sea is great for activities but watch out for parking charges.

One of the best scenic place we have visited so far. It reminds me of somewhat like Santorini, Greece cliff view.

This is a great place for all ages. Flat seafront clean beach. Indoor activities include safe play for small children. Beach shop. Arcade. Good pubs and meals. Offering something for all. Outdoor amusements include crazy golf and children's activities. Toppings sell traditional ice creams as well as whippy. Over 30 flavours and delicious. Like being in Italy! The chip shop is basic. Disappointed they don't offer choice for vegetarians just chips. Need to go up the hill to AJS if vegetarian get great choice there. Nearby on Lake beach is a water activity centre. Worth a visit.

Super beautiful wide sandy beach.

Good beach. Can be maintained much better … there are many Ice cream shops next to beach … They have very nice varieties … We had almost 4-5 varieties as it was very sunny when we went … Ice cream next to the beach is very nice… We really have to try this if we are there … There is also Jurassic isle it's good we didn't do any activities in that one but we had look around the complete place … Parking was not too costly and had options starting from 30 mins … We just had a quick visit for 2 hours … there were many people in the beach having barbecue and enjoying the evening …

Plenty to do on Shanklin beach from mini golf, plenty of amusement to keep the little ones happy. The beach its self is sandy and catches the sun. Prices in the two pubs along the seafront are expensive with a price of a basic better coming out at £4 per paint. From Shanklin beach you can walk along the seafront to Sandown a short distance away.

Fun for the kids and able to walk the dog on the beach up until May. A little bit commercial with arcade, shops, crazy golf etc. If you are looking for a quiet beach area this is not it.

When compared to Sandown beach front, Shanklin wins hands down. Plenty to do, and ample parking.

Came here for holidays as a child. A good clean and safe family beach.

Lovely beach and seafront. Great restaurants and quaint little shops off the seafront. Sea air and seagulls.

Fantastic! Best place to stay especially with your dogs! Cant fault it! Wont stay anywhere else!

I am a traveller and this pub and place was amazing; from the beach to the stores it was brilliant! I have rated 5 stars and I don't regret it!

Wonderful all year round! From winter dog walks (with free parking! ) to summer paddling and ice creams Shanklin beach and the duver are favourite places whatever the weather.

It's the most beautiful place I have ever seen I would love to live there by the sea.

Good beach for swimming, walking with a long promenade that goes to Sandown and plenty of places to eat and stay. Classic British holiday town with all that comes with that.

Good place for walking. A. Number of cafes and pubs open even in winter. Good lighting for those walking at night.

Lovely few hours here on the amusements. Nice walk on the beach and chippies for lunch. Worth a visit.

Arcade is very large with Jungle Jim’s kids soft play at the rear. Followed by a fantastic selection of ice creams in the shops at the front.

Ok. I'm biased. I live here. But we moved here in part because of the beach. It's a great sweep of (mostly) sandy beach with amusements at one end and a wilder more natural bit at the far end. We've swum here often when the weather's been good and found countless fossils and geodes. Over summer there are various watersports and there is the sailing club too. Good for surfing when the weather's a bit rougher. It's east facing, so you'll get the full sun on the mornings through to late afternoon, it gets shadier as the sun dips behind the cliffs. The water clarity can be great, but depends on the day and you can see little fish darting about. It's also good for fishing. Basically it's a beach where there's probably something for most people… And I love it!

Great for kids. Lots of rides (junior roller-coaster, spinning boats to sail around in, go kart race track for kids plus crazy golf etc) all paid for with tokens which you purchase from a machine. Good choice of eating places along the esplanade. The shops are a fair way from the beach but there is a bus (the Shanklin Steamer) to take you there — the hill from the beach is pretty steep. You can also walk all the way to Sandown and beyond via a flat walkway.

Had a great holiday Matt the manager changed our room to sea view. Which made my mum's holiday, who is 85. As we were suppose to go to lake garda. Had to change due to personal problem's. Staff could not do enough. Food was great great portions Great entertainment especially last night. Where Matt and myself entertained guest who didn't want the theatre trip. Matt said it was has been best week of season. Can't wait to go back. Especially with the beach litruly across the road. With plenty of stuff for family's and people of all ages.

Best Seaside in Southern England. Great beach for the children, good amusement parks & excellent choice of places to eat, also plenty of parking. One place to avoid is the unisex toilet by the lift car park it was rank the day we visited but other much clearer facilities were available.

Unisex toilets are a real disgrace, not sure ever been cleaned. Would give 5 stars if these were fixed. Besides the toilets, there are 2 good crazy golf courses (3rd smaller one in arcades) a kiddies zone, arcades shops and restaurants. Beaches are clean and good sand.

Fantastic beach, clean and kid-friendly sand. Plenty of things like canoe and pedalo rental, and there's a good arcade just opposite for when you've had enough of sandcastles! The beach cafe next to the car park is pretty good as well, eat in or take out.

Nice place to visit and stay. Had a pleasant walk and took in the sea air. Rather hilly off the sea front.

Always a nice. Place to visit. The crazy golf has been upgraded and is really entertaining if a little pricey. Sandy beaches are always popular and parking isn't too tricky generally.

Classic arcade along with a very large selection of eating places, topped off with a clean expanse of beach and sea, the perfect coast on the island.

Not much here at all. The unisex toilets were absolutely disgusting. The place really needs a massive face lift and making more pedestrian friendly. The only thing that really made it worth while was the beautiful ice cream from the parlour by the mini golf.

Lovely Beach, Ice Cream, Mini Golf, The Ocean to swim in. I recommend you to go with freinds, Family and Dogs.

Nice clean beach. Lots of restaurants and lots to do in pirate's cove fun park and dinosaur golf. Loads of car parking spaces on the side of the road and car parks. Also things to hire like deck chairs, wind breaks available. Fisherman's cottage and shanklin chine is also round the corner. Enjoyed our visit …

Must be one of the top 5 nicest beaches in the UK. Sea was lovely and clean. Shops and deck chair hire as you'd expect at the sea side. Wonderful day out.

Very nice bathing beach. With area for dogs.

Quiet beach, during our visit had not so many people… on the horizon are always at any time to see tankers…

Avoid if you can … For £90 I expected a bit more there was no iron no hair dryers the bathroom door handle was falling off empty beer glass can be seen laying around outside the rooms. The bathroom pipe was dripping all night and the building smell damp. The Wi-Fi was weak the staff was very limited hardly on sight.

Great time. Lovely atmosphere.

Positives. Room had a sea view and the usual coffee/tea facilities. Staff were very pleasant. Negatives. Our particular standard double room was poorly maintained/ decorated. The en-suite could of been no more than 40 inches square, u had to be a contortionist in order to wash! or anything else for that matter. Overall: Clean, reasonable bar prices, but could do with money injected into the up keep.

The hotel is lovely and the staff are warm and friendly. Had 1 bad breakfast where the scrambled eggs where off however the staff gave us money back and offered us a free drink too. In the rooms themselves the beds are very comfy but the cleaners don't always replace all the towels and we have to use the same ones other than that great experience.

Food was outstanding our room had see veiw faultess room.

Accommodation is clean and great value. Offers a nice base to explore the Isle for a few days. Staff are friendly and helpful. Free parking to the rear is handy. Bar and entertainment is average but is probably enjoyed more by those a little closer to retirement. Totally personal preference.

For the price, we it's a good hotel.

Just got back from 5 days at your hotel, had a brilliant time, rooms were fine, cleaned everyday, white clean bedding, meals were tasty, my grandaughter who is 7 is autistic, and they made her different things that they knew she would eat, they bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable, special mention the Rob the waiter who was so nice and friendly, he even bought the 4 kids in our party a big bag of sweets for our long journey home, will definitely go again x.

This is the worse hotel national holidays have put us in we have done a few breaks and never have experianced this type before if I had been a first time customer it would have been my last the management were not very helpful room was bearable but same towels had to be used for 5 days this was despite being left in bath or on floor the food left a lot to be desired more like canteen food than restaurant by the end of week had enough of this food so we dined out a shame because hotel in good position loved the island but will never go back this hotel.

Stayed at beach hotel april 2014 had a great stay. Room was lovely and clean with sea view and balcony. Good shower in room good breakfast and evening meal. Good service. Parking on site for small fee. Had a good stay.

We loved our stay at the shanklin beach hotel could not fault it we can recomend it.
