Most of the menu items are everyday like fish and chips or beef burger and chips but they are priced like they are really fancy.

Delicious food, great cocktails and the waiters are on point. Took our 2 year old who was very very happy with the mac n cheese! will come again.

Highly recommend food was lovely. Shame pizza place he owns next door turned us away — fully booked we were told and stayed empty outside our entire meal. Anyway York & Albany treated my family AMAZINGLY and I can’t rate it enough. Staff and food were perfecto!

Lovely hotel in a great location. We were upgraded to a suite on arrival and were blown away with the room, certainly had the wow factor! A glass of Prosecco on arrival was a lovely touch, and the service was impeccable. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We ate in the Street Pizza restaurant as we wanted a relaxed atmosphere, and we were not disappointed — bottomless pizza for £15 per person is great value for money. We took Breakfast in our room, which was delivered on time and was delicious. We will not hesitate to stay here again!

Service is shocking the staff seem to be to busy cleaning. Waited at least 10 minutes for our bottle of wine. Staff was not very friendly.

Stayed here for one night with husband. Really nice place, staff all very friendly. Complimentary cocktail. A nice touch! Rooms spotless and even have GHD straighteners and hairdryer!

I booked for our 2yr anniversary and took our 6 1/2 month baby along.
Service was exceptional very attentive and even remembered to ask us if our little one had any allergies as we got him jam on toast for breakfast. He was spoilt by the staff with quick service for his breakfast (his came first), a high chair with a cushion to make it more comfy and lots of chats!
Food was very tasty, highly recommend and we will visit again for dinner or Sunday roast.

Just arrived home from spending the weekend in London. The first night was at York and Albany, we paid for an upgraded room then discovered the hotel had upgraded us again to a suite which was amazing. The main reason visiting was obviously the food. A 3 course meal. On booking I did state I was vegan. The response, “no problem we have a variety” I thought great. When we arrived at the hotel I made a point of saying again I was vegan. Sitting down to look at the menu and order I was extremely disappointed to see no vegan options and when I quizzed and asked I was told there was no vegan starter option and I had to have a salad for my main with fruit and sorbet for dessert. Clearly no forward planning for my arrival. After complaining they offered me a risotto starter. To say this is a GR hotel/restaurant the options were so disappointing. So to clarify, a Pea Risotto, a Plain Potato Salad and Fruit with Sorbet. I’ve heard GR is trying to be Vegan. If this is the case the restaurants/chefs need to up their game. In honesty I’ve made better at home. Won’t return to eat but would visit for a drink. Great location. Wish I could be more positive.

Enjoyed our stay there 5 1/2 years ago in mid January. Got a lovely upgrade when our room flooded. Restaurant was excellent. There was even lead shot in the pheasant. Very authentic. Nice break from the Aussie summer.

Had the opportunity to eat at Gordon's restaurant this week. To be honest the food was average, toilets were below standard (no toilet paper when I wanted to use the bathroom), we were told there was no gas to provide draft beer. Sounds like the York & Albany is a candidate for 'Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares'. The food was better when the place was a pub in the 80's.

We liked it. Had a lovely meal in a nice setting just down the road from London Zoo. Service was great. They had a really good local beer 'Camden Hell' on tap and the cocktails must have been good as my partner had two. Good little kids menue. Well worth a visit.

My husband and I stayed a night while on a quick trip to London. Service was generally very friendly but it did take a few minutes to check in as the desk person was helping another guest to their room. Once in our room, (number nine) I loved it! The decor is beautiful and vintage. I enjoyed having use of the hair dryer and a straightener they provided. I do think the carpet in that particular room could use a freshening, as it was quite worn, not in a charming way, but in a overly used kind of way. The bathroom was wonderful as was the bed. My favorite thing about the room was the view and proximity to Reagents park. There is traffic noise due to the intersection but we came from New York City and did not find it excessive. Breakfast was also very good, with great service. I would stay again.

Great English food, very friendly staff. The place is quite classy but informal. We do not give 5 stars just because there have been disguides and considerable delays in service. In each is to try.

If you go to London this is the place to be. The rooms have historical charm. The restaurant staff is very attentive and the food is great! The location seemed to be in the middle of everything we visited. My husband and I loved it. We will be back!

We stayed for one night in the Suite and it was gorgeous. First night away for us in a while so our expectations were high reading other reviews. The suit was spacious and light. Somewhere we could have just stayed the whole time. Our evening meal was delicious and although the portions appeared slightly on the smaller side, they were perfect and after 3 courses we were both comfortably full. I’m definitely a breakfast girl, the whole overnight thing for me is about breakfast the following morning. We both had the full English with toast, juice and coffee. It was delicious. A relaxed, chilled atmosphere to watch the world go by. I would definitely return. My husbands only gripe, and it’s not the hotels fault, was the traffic noise outside all night. I was refreshed, he wasn’t.

Just returned from a lovely week staying at Y&A and it was perfect in every regard! We were in a Superior Room, which had plenty of room for the 2 of us. The bathroom was HUGE (by london standards) and the infloor heating was fantastic to return to after traipsing around London for the day. Breakfast every morning was wonderful, as were the flat whites! we only upgraded one morning as the "continental" offering was so impressive! The most beautiful fruit salads, the yogurt with granola and fruit compote… almost worth the trip alone! Y&A was the perfect base to tour London, we found ourselves riding buses most often as the views from the second level were fantastic! Buses to take us anywhere we wanted to go were no more that 2 blocks away. After a busy day in "downtown" London it was so pleasant to be back in relative quiet of Camden Town in only 20-30 mins. Returning to the same few faces at reception and our small boutique hotel made the london experience so intimate. With so many places to eat we only did dinner one night at Y&A. We opted for pizza from the wood burning oven. I was somewhat embarrassed to be "that guest" to asked to be seated in the less formal pizza parlor rather than the formal dining room and the staff were happy to accommodate! The pizza was fantastic, as is to be expected! and HUGE! we ordered 2 but one would have been perfect for sharing. Thank you so much to the entire team at Y&A! you made our trip perfect! I recently photographed a wedding at York and Albany and really loved the place as well as the helpful staff. Would definitely recommend it as a central London wedding venue. More photos from the event on our website blog.

My friend and I visited the restaurant last night and left very pleasantly surprised. What was not to like. The service was perfect from arrival to departure. I loved the decor in the bar area with the use of soft green hues on the walls and discreet lighting against the vintage styled velvet and leather seating. All very tasteful. We chose from the three course set menu and each dish was perfect in size, presentation and flavour and, as London prices go, really not too silly. The layout was good — comfortable and sufficiently separate from the diners to allow atmosphere minus unnecessary intrusion. Would I go again and recommend? Most definitely.

Pleasant surroundings just off Regent's Park in Camden. Good range of cocktails and drinks, we didn't eat but the restaurant looked busy.

When we arrived only my mom was given a cup of tea, while I was made to wait 10 or 15 minutes for mine. When booking we were asked for our food and beverage preference. When we arrived they appeared to have no record of this. We asked for a non-pork menu, and confirmed this when we arrived, but nearly 1/3 of the sandwiches on the platter were ham. Service was terribly slow and rather unhelpful apart of the end when they brought the bill. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I have brought these issues to the attention of the restaurant and they failed to respond.

York and Albany is a consistently excellent restaurant. I've been visiting for over eight years both on business and for pleasure. The ground floor area has windows onto a small garden/yard area and is ideal for lunch. Downstaris the seating area fronts an open kitchen and has a great (and theatrical) atmosphere for an evening meal. The food is excellent — portions are more than adequate without stuffing you and the ingredients are of high quality. The place is well run with very friendly and high quality staff who are always helpful.

Beautiful place but avoid with allergies. I am gluten free and dairy free and it’s not a lifestyle choice. The majority of restaurants I visit pay special care and attention to my allergies but York and Albany left me underfed. No gluten free bread was on offer to start. I had items removed from my carpaccio starter to make it suitable for my requirements then noticed I also had less meat on my plate than friends who had ordered the same starter. I had a lemon sole that was delicious for a main but was unable to have the chips or vegetables offered as sides as they were unsuitable and I wasn’t given an alternative. To provide a side salad or fresh steamed vegetable is surely not a challenge. A few slivers of beef and a piece of fish is not an acceptable amount of food for dinner. Fortunately the fruit and sorbet to finish was delicious but certainly not enough to fill me up. I had to go home and cook a second dinner.

People talk about the food a lot and there is also a small hotel here but the York and Albany really does have a great little bar. I think a lot of people miss that. The drinks aren’t cheap but the cocktails are really excellent (I recommend the classic marti) and they have some great wines. The service for me was also very good. This has to be the classiest bar in Camden by a long way. Do expect to pay for it, but worth it in my opinion.

Pretty good gastropub with a trendy atmosphere but not without its faults. Pros: — simple menu and caters for a variety of tastes with some decent vegetarian options. — table service is pretty good, well mannered and down to earth staff that speak good English. — availability is generally pretty good. Cons: — Live entertainment was horrible. When I visited it was a woman on a guitar. Sound was over amplified and just too noisey especially for those looking for a quiet dinner. — As a Halal chicken eater I couldn't benefit from the corn fed chicken on the menu as they did not order Halal on the day of arrival even when we have them a heads-up on booking.

Went for dinner. Service was good. Food was good and reasonably priced for the venue. High back chairs we were seated in made things a little bit difficult to eat at the table. But apart from that, nice venue, cosy atmosphere.

I only seem to go on a tuesday night but they always have really good live music on. It is never too loud just creates a really good atmosphere. The wine list is good, I still haven't tried the food but it looks and smells good.

Wonderful spot with delicious food and an extremely high level of customer service. I would recommend booking as it can get very busy.

Lovely food, excellent service. Had a Sunday roast there which was one of the best in the area. Wine was good and not costing a house and a car. If you are after a good service and great food and don't mind paying for it then don't hesitate to visit.

We have just stayed for the weekend which was a present for our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Our room was very comfortable with everything you could have wanted tea & coffee machine, dressing gowns & slippers all supplied. We had an evening meal and breakfast included the evening meal was either a set menu or the cost of your voucher was taken off if you used the A la Carte menu which we found a bit confusing but must say the food was excellent they had noted that it was our anniversary and presented us with a decorative fruit board. The breakfast was well presented and arrived hot and looked very appertising. All the staff were pleasant and helpful we wanted to leave our cases earlier in the day which they were very happy for us to do. Drinks were very expensive but did get a complementary bilini or presecco and they didn’t have any house rosé but offered us a bottle of rosé for the price of the house wine so couldn’t complain overall we had a very enjoyable stay.

Private dining room was very charming and catered for a wedding party of 25 or so. Bespoke tasting menu was delicious!

If you looking for a bar/restaurant with best food and drinks this is the one. Great up class bar and space.

Skip this place. The worst service I 've ever received. A party of 6 adults and one child. We were showed to a table, given the menu then ignored. Never even offered drinks. Another large group arrive and place order in a short time. Still ignore us. Other table gets no food or drink either. We finally get up and leave and so does the second table. We wondered down the street found a small pub and had wonderful service. One star to much for this place, but can't leave a review without at least 1.

Went here for a Sunday lunch. One of our party was gluten intolerant and we'd let them know when we booked. Got there and barely waited 2 minutes for our table. When we sat down the waiting staff mentioned that one of us was gluten intolerant without prompting and special gluten free bread was bought out for them when the rest of the party had their regular bread. It was actually a nice bread for gluten free too, quite a surprise! The roasts themselves were delicious. Perfectly cooked beef, crispy roast potatoes, tasty carrots and parsnips and a huge Yorkshire. Doesn't cost that much more than many of the gastro pub offerings in the area and the quality is far better. Highly recommended!

Other than slightly slow service, this place is great. For £24 I got a 3 course meal, with a complementary drink. The environment is relaxing, the food is delicious, and the staff is extremely polite. I would definitely come here again. Recommend: Mushroom Risotto and the Chocolate Nemisis.

The food is so so. Not sure what justifies a gordon ramsay label. Choice of bread limited and very average predictable pub menu.

I have never before had such an experience, as dinning at York and Albany. The food was simply amazing, the staff very friendly and proffessional, and the atmosphere was just perfect. Visiting this restaurant is a must on every London trip. I wish I could award it with more stars.

Very nice food served on extremely heavy set plates. Had the smoked salmon starter (set menu) which was nice. The sides had to be ordered as extras which made the dinner on whole pricey. Service did get a bit slow and there will be no mints with your bill.

The venue is airy, comfortable and relaxed; the food is not spectacular but well executed, fresh and not overly complicated. They were very kind to offer me a dish from the weekday menu on the weekend. It is a bit pricey but it's a premium you pay for the atmosphere.

I love this building! Its beautiful both inside and out (ah I'm sure somebody said that about me once, perhaps). The bar area is great to have a more relaxed meal and drinks in (the burger is recommended). For something a bit more intimate and womantic, as Jonathan Ross once said, the restaurant is a tip top choice for a slap up evening meal or Sunday dinner. We visited last Sunday and they have a good vegetarian option for Sunday dinner too. Even if this wasn't local to us we would still visit again.

Tried this for breakfast. Had a really tasty and huge omelette. Breakfast is until 11.30 and they were flexible and we could get it 10 mins after, even if the staff was already preparing for lunch. Another time, had diner here, the staff was really friendly, and the food delicious.

Lovely food, with a nice combination of flavours. Portions were a tad small and the rather dark lighting were drawbacks though.

It was a somewhat sunny day at the weekend, I am a bit lazy and happened to look for a nice place to eat something. As I walked by York and Albany many times, actually almost every time I am going to Regent's Park, I decided already some months ago, that I should check out York and Albany. And then on this lazy day, it was the right time. I did not really plan to go there, but it was one of the options I had in my head when I left to find something to eat. So, I went in and got a nice small table at the window. I liked that place a lot, because I could enjoy the sun there! I ordered a Pizza Quattro Formaggi and took the white wine the waiter recommended. The pizza was actually a bit salty, but it went very good with the white wine, so I was fine with that. The dessert tasted very very good, if not even better! When I went there, I did not know that's a Gordon Ramsay place, so I had no specific expectations or something. Anyway, I liked it and can recommend the York and Albany. Good location, tasty food, pleasant-tasting wine, and delicious desserts. What else do you need.
