Awful hostel. The staff at the hostel couldnt have been less interested in helping us, but that isnt even the main problem. Main problem? Bed bugs. The hostel is riddled with them and when the manager was approached about this, he wasn't even surprised with our complaint. The hostel is just dirty. We requested the fumigation certificate to state the hostel had been properly fumigated a week ago, it hasnt been sent. For your health, stay somewhere else.

I loved the experience. Very comfortable. Very good treatment at reception bar. Repeat.

Rooms full of fleas and ticks!

BED BUGS! I only stayed there 1 night and got eaten alive by bedbugs. The whole hostel is filthy and needs a deep clean. I was dubious about staying there once I saw the place, the room smelled of mould, the floor was covered in dirt, the bathrooms were either out of order or looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. In the morning, when I saw my bedbug bites, I phoned the reception staff to inform them of it, to stop other people possibly contracting them and having to suffer with itchy. The receptionist didn't seem bothered at all, and told me the bed was clean and should be "fine". I then e-mailed the company to inform them and expected an apology but no reply. I will be taking the case further to health standards as the sanitation of the building is not good enough.

Super easy to access from central London and outside London. Surprisingly clean for a cheap hostel. Friendly staff, friendly guests, chill vibes, good Wi-Fi, £2 breakfast, BRING EARPLUGS and towel but that's just a general hostel rule of thumb anyway… Will be back!

Great hostel, that staff is super polite. Everyone is down for a quick chat. Furthermore, everything is really flexible, for example we ran late for breakfast so we could only get a few toasts for which we only had to pay half the price. I would gladly come here again when i'm in london.

Overall this hostel is fine for a temporary stay. The Location is great so close to bus and underground stops just walking for. Friendly staff and travellers within helpful being open to inform customers. Regarding the room, stayed in the 4 beds one, was ok. Old looking needing restoration but still fine. Toilets at least were always cleaned. You get what you paid for, cheap hostel.

As good as a hostel in London is gunna get. Space in this city ain't cheap, people, and that's why the dorms are piled high. There's a good atmosphere and friendly staff, lots of travellers and a few poor English sods liked out by the wife. Maximum stay is 2 weeks though so no chronic bums. Can't bring booze in as it's a pub but who cares, it's the cheapest pint you'll get around here.

The coolest place to chill in London! When I checked in I got a nice warm welcome from the staff. Stayed for two nights. The location is very good. The sheets and pillow covers were clean. The bathrooms are cleaned twice daily as well. The bunkbeds are crammed in. Three beds on top of each other leave you with no options other than lying down in the bed. I found charging point beside my bed which was good. The staff was welcoming as well.

I don’t know where to start… We just stayed one night but it was horrible experience. Apart from staff that was friendly, the place needs proper clean out. Dust and dirt everywhere, awful smell of humidity, shower was disgusting, mould everywhere and soap spots all over. I have never seen such terrible conditions. Is there any outside company checking this place and how come you’ve been awarded? Thanks god for Pure Gym near by where I could take proper shower. I know it’s cheap accommodation but come on, cleanliness is standard everywhere.

The hostel is an overall quality stay. It is relatively cheap, clean, safe, and the staff are very welcoming and accommodating. I would recommend the hostel to anyone who is traveling through London.

The dirtiest hostel I've stayed in. I called ahead to say I wouldn't be able to check in until after work, nice chap on the phone said they have a 24hr concierge, but when I arrived a pugnacious young man asked why I thought it was ok for me to check in so late. It was 1am… There's snot crust all over the toilet walls and there's collections of dirt in every possible nook and cranny. Couldn't bring myself to use their showers, so went for small workouts, long showers at a nearby gym. Clearly in need of a caretaker/handy-person that knows what they're doing too. Everything was bad apart from the person I spoke to on the phone… I begrudge leaving a single star, but you can't leave none, so once again this place has gotten more out of me than it deserves.

The lowest price in London is not kept very well but for the price you can not complain.
I book the only room available in the dormitory from 14, all the beds was already occupied so the very friendly guy offering me a bed in the dormitory by 6 couldn't get any better.
Breakfast at £2 and pub open until 23.
Edgwere Road station is the nearest station or the N18 bus.

The location was not bad. Walking distance from the tube or Marylebone station. The staff was really friendly and toilet was clean.

Loved staying here! Pretty central, and very friendly and accommodating staff, Caro and Milkshake were awesome! I made an account on hostelworld just to leave them a review because they were so great, but I couldn't get a review up, so hopefully those in search may find some helpful reviews on facbook, too! I highly recommend staying here!

Best place in London. I mean the prices are good, the facilities didn t disappointed me. You meet great people in a hostel and it feels like a place where you could stay for the rest of your life. About the staff I can say only nice things, they are great. Especially Caro and Mellisa, they are like fuego and ice and bring a lot of life in this place.

Clean facilities, super fresh linen, really good atmosphere in the communal area with a reasonably priced bar. Great location close to the underground station. And finally a really lovely friendly and helpful staff who went above and beyond and made the experience brilliant!

The living room is fine but the rooms and bathrooms seem to lack limpiarps followed.

The facilities are pretty good and their bar is very stocked. The only thing that is lacking is to improve the locks of the rooms and the cleanliness of the bathrooms (just a little)

Decent. There are lockers in the shared rooms. Toilets and showers are clean. Staff are helpful and polite. But the overall atmosphere is a bit shabby and tired. If you're looking for a cheap place to stay its fine and in a good location.

Awesome, cosy and homey. £2 breakfast spread will see your most important meal of the day get you though till after lunch time :) awesome staff especially Caro!

Ok place to stay. The rooms are very small with a lot of people crammed in. Everyone in my party (6 of us) noticed our sheets and blankets were damp when we first arrived as well. Location is decent with a 2 minute walk to the Bakerloo line.

I really enjoyed my time at the Phoenix hostel. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I’ve been in a shared room for 6 and I always had a good connection to my roommates as they were open-minded and my age. This hostel has a 18-40 year old policy which I quite appreciate because as bagpacker you obviously can find very nice people to go out with and to just have fun with (as I did). I would recommend the Phoenix hostel to everyone who doesn’t set too high standards. It’s always clean and you feel secure at all times. However, the building is a bit old. You can also have a small breakfast buffet for £2. It's all very down-to-earth but you also have a microwave and a fridge in the lobby where you can storage all your food and can prepare ready meals. You cannot compare any other hostel’s prices with the Phoenix’s prices. The location is a big plus too. Totally recommend it.

Do not stay here. Having been abroad for almost 3 months now, I have stayed in a lot of hostels. This was the worst by far. The staff was hit or miss. There was a window above my bed that people kept opening in the middle if the night because the room would get too hot, And I would wake up because it was literally raining on me. The showers were also absolutely disgusting. Save yourself and don't stay here.

Cool hostel. For young travellers on a budget, 18-38 I believe is the age requirement to stay. Would stay again because of the friendly staff. The dorms that cost a few pounds more are cleaner than the busy 14 bed dorm. £2 breakfast. Easy to get transit all around the city from here.

Affordable, clean and with a very friendly staff that was eager to provide info. Loved the bar. Order a pint of equal parts Guinness and Cider (magic potion) if you know what's good! Bring adapter, padlock and towel. 5 pounds for an adapter is a little steep!

On the plus side : very well situated, near public transportation (Tube, bus). Cleannish room and washrooms. However, more bad than good : Room 3 : mattress is very UNCOMFORTABLE. Duvet was stained. Room should include a fan. Lighting is poor. The water pressure in the toilet was poor making it difficult to flush. Cold water not fonctionning in showers on one morning. Door slams shut between the reception area and the room area — very noisy. Staff does not offer any help with luggage when we get there (a man, well built, just pointed us toward the staircase) compared to another hostel we stayed in London in July 2017 where a small lady offered to assist us. Price and quality ratio is bad.

Very nice staff. Very polite. Room vas a bit small for 3 bunk beds but it was alright because we only slept here. Everything was reasonably clean and enough showers and toilets so no major lines were forming. Probably going to stay there wherever I'm in London.

Great hostel! I had a good experience with everything. The staff is awesome (thanks, Caro and Scott), you get a good place to stay, comfortable beds, a nice bar, all you need.

The rooms here we're clean and the beds comfy, and the place was all around clean. The main guy there was a tall skinny white guy named Scott (I think) and he was fabulous, stand up dude. The rest of the staff was kind of hit or miss on the friendlyness spectrum. It wasn't as social as I had hoped, as most of the people hanging around were staff members or regulars, but there was a bar with super cheap beer, so that was nice.

Very friendly staff and adequate rooms & bath/shower facilities. Nice atmosphere with a cheap bar that does good pints (doesn't open very late mind you though). For the price it can't be beaten and in a fantastic spot (just off Baker Street! )

This review is long overdue! I stayed in the Phoenix Hostel when I went to London for the Coldpay Concert and the experience was great. The location is brilliant — close to the tube station. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. The rooms are basically like dorms and that can get a little annoying if you're a light sleeper. Also, the bathrooms are shared and there aren't separate ones for guys and girls but after the first day, you just get used to it. Overall, a pleasant experience and I'd definitely recommend this place to my friends! =)

I didnt stay at the hostel, just left my baggage there. The staff was very nice. It was just 2£ per 24h.

Was great! Guys there were super friendly. Was a nice chilled environment. Only downside was had a phone charger knicked, but probably more my own fault. Location is great 5 m walk from underground station. Rooms were nice for a 14 man one. Would reccommend, especially for the price!

Apart from the bathrooms a little small and not great practices, the beds are really very comfortable compared to other youth hostels. People who welcome you are adorable and the pub is nice. It's a great value for money.

The staff was very friendly. They have service 24 hours so it was perfect to do night in London. It is also located close to Baker Street so it is great both for visiting the city and to the airport. Recommended to be London and where it is located, the quality price is very acceptable.

First of all Im really satisfied with very kind and helpful staff. Quiet clean and tidy place. Hostel with great location. Couldnt find anything better with that price range. I'm sure I'll visit them soon!

Very nice staff, but the place is not great. Considering the price and the location, it's ok-ish.

The receptionist was pretty kind and gentle, even considering I came really at a late hour due to a flight problem. The breakfast was ok-ish: not stellar, but decent and with good variety, particularly considering you could stuff yourself with food for a few pounds as some guests clearly did. Being in a central area and quite close to many ways of public transit also helps a lot. And that ends the positive side of it: rooms are cramped, not very clean, but still better than the quite dirty baths. One of them was also broken, so if you plan on having a quick shower with little to no queue, good luck with that! All in all my experience was barely passable, yet I still wonder if this hostel is really award-winning, in which shape others could be…

Atmosphere is a bit unusual and quirky, but the room was decently clean and location was good for the price.

This is such a great place to stay, and it has decent prices for a few nights of staying. You can meet great people on your visit here. I did. I visited 2 years ago, and was welcomed very politely. The beds are clean, obviously. Including the washrooms etc. I'm looking forward to my return in future.

Small, cosy, cheap, and close to the city centre. A perfect choice to enjoy your stay in London! The staff is really nice too and the lounge room looks like a small pub.

Bathrooms are a bit dirty and old looking. One young lady staff member was friendly, another blond kid was rude and unfriendly. They gave away my bed when I traveled away to Edinburgh with my nights paid. Someone tried to take my headphones when leaving. Room had a stench on one night. Location is fine, the owner is actually an OK guy. Although he kept mentioning how fat I was. I ended up moving to St. Christopher's a much nicer and cleaner place. This place is close to Paddington and Marlybone Station.

Good location, friendly staff. Everything is perfect, but the atmosphere is the highlight of the place.

The hostel is very good place, close to Edgware road station (5 min walk). So if your goal is to visit, c is ideal.
For my part, I have come to prepare my arrives in London, and j have has all what I needed: friendly staff and comfortable, printer, an effective connection, possibility to buy an adapter to catch etc. You can store your important stuff in a locker, think to take a lock.
The showers and toilets are clean, simple but relatively comfortable rooms. There is a very good atmosphere in the living room.
The negative point is that it there is no possibility of cooking, although a big fridge is put at disposal.

Fantastic staff (especially Matt the manager) nice bar, cheap breaky and fantastic location in close vicinity to a tube station. Definitely recommend this hostel.

What a great place. The room was excellent and the staff and service was brilliant. Also a very good location. I can recommend this place 100%.

We had some amazing days in that hostel. The people there are really nice, the location is good and breakfast is really cheap but good nevertheless.

First time at a hostel — — not a bad way to start. Rooms are nice enough; I split time between the 10 — and 14-person rooms and both were fine. There are a bunch of bathrooms and showers, and they're all pretty clean (if a bit small, but it's not like you need them to be any bigger). The downstairs bar and lounge are great spots to meet people or just hang out, with cheap beer (& esp. Delicious Guinness), breakfast in the mornings and good music throughout the day. Staff is top-notch: super friendly, easy to talk to, and knowledgeable about the city. Paul is the man, but everybody else is pretty cool too. All considered: great price, good people, convenient location (~3 minutes from tube station), and a nice place. Would definitely stay again next time I'm around London.

The staff are all friendly and helpful. The lounge/bar area is basic, but has what I needed; tv, fridge, microwave, couches and beer. The bedrooms maybe a little small with not enough plug sockets, but they have lockers and the beds are quite big and comfortable. There were 3 bathrooms on my floor, I never had to wait. It's not the best hostel I've stayed in, but is far from the worst. But for what they charge I will stay here again. Ps the Wi-Fi works throughout the hostel and is free :).

The hostel is a bit cramped. Rooms arent very large and there are few outlets to charge phones etc. But overall the price is good and the staff is great. A great place to stay for budget backpackers.
