The service, food and ambience were fantastic. I would highly recommend this experience.

The staff were friendly, helpful and very courteous. The staff kept coming up to our table to make sure we had everything we needed. All very professional and as it was a public place felt very safe and assured.

We visited The Ritz in February half term after saving for a long time, something I had always wanted to do. It was absolutely fantastic and the staff were brilliant and helpful, especially as my 13 year old won't normally touch tea, he loved trying the fruit infusions our waiter recommend.
Our visit lived up to every expectation I had. Thank you to everyone at The Ritz for making a very special memory.

After a 19days stay over Christmas and the New Year at the Ritz words alone cannot describe what a fabulous time myself and my wife have had during our stay. As mentioned on a few occasions during our visit the staff made it such a joy to be part of the celebrations over Christmas and again a special thank you to John Abela on Reception + his colleague Ben for all there attentive attention given to ourselves not just one day, but every day. My wife was so thrilled & relaxed with her stay and that pleases me to see her happy, opulence at its best, if you've never experienced the Ritz, put it on your bucket list in life you won't regret it I assure you because your only on this planet once. We live life to the full you never know what's round the corner that can stop you enjoying it. A&mg.

Our daughter purchased a champagne afternoon tea for my wifes 50th, thankfully she took me along! We dropped into the Rivoli bar before taking our seats for tea. Yes the building is amazing, the food and attention to detail stunning, the cocktails, champagne and choice of teas was outstanding but the manners and civility of the Ritz employee's from the roadside to the cloakroom was the icing on the cake. Thank you for an enjoyable experience for us both.

Came for Afternoon tea. Arrived early and we decided to visit the bar. All the staff throughout the hotel were superb. Waiter was very friendly and helpful with the drinks menu. The cocktails were stunning. Our afternoon champagne tea was wonderful. The Palm court seating area was astounding. Beautiful decor. The selection of sandwiches and cakes and scones were amazing and the amount was huge. (Any leftovers were boxed for you to take home). I can't fault our experience at the Ritz. I've decided to book a room and have a meal here for my 50th birthday and really look forward to returning.

Everyone knows the good reputation of this hotel, years of living in London finally I had the amazing pleasure of lunching there with my family. The service was just perfect, super friendly staff, the food was top and I was amazed by the beautify interior designs. I went to the ladies the towels banquet was empty but it was for 1 second before the cleaning lady came in to change them. They are kids friendly at the restaurant, so kind. Everything was delicious. Went for lunch here with my wife and daughter. The surroundings were absolutely stunning. The service equally so. The food was not up to the same standard. However it was still very good. Our starters were fantastic. Sensational presentation and tasted as good as it look. The flavours mixed together to deliver one of the finest starters I've had. It was all very well thought out and fitting of the surroundings. Our mains were not of the same standard. Seeing as we are halal diners we opted for the halal option. This constitutes simply choosing from halal chicken beast or loin of lamb and choosing the garnish to go with it. Whilst it was still nice, it was obviously not up to the same standard as the starter. No thought had gone into it and it was evident in the way it tastes. Desserts were very nice and a perfect way to finish the meal. Our overall experience was extremely positive and we enjoyed our time at the Ritz. Will we go back? If they bring the standard of their halal options up to the rest of the menu… Then yes, we will.

Stayed here during Wimbledon as they were able to arrange a great package with debenture tickets on Court No 1. From beginning to end, our stay was amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Our room was slightly delayed in being ready on time (but we did get an upgrade) so the concierge took us to the bar and got us drinks and snacks while we waited. The breakfast spread in the morning was so amazing with lots of vegetarian options. Our room was so beautiful and just as grand in person as in the photos. I would not recommend parking a car here though as it was over £100 per night.

Amazing from beginning to end, we went for my husbands 50th birthday and had afternoon tea. The waiters are very attentive, we had champagne, beautiful cakes and sandwiches, they brought a cake out personised with a candle, the pianist played happy birthday and everyone clapped, he was so overwhelmed… and it is such a beautiful place. I would highly recommend it at least once for everyone.

Come to England. If it is convenient to bring a suit, be sure to come and drink afternoon tea and experience the elegant life of the English bourgeoisie. Food and environmental services live music full of stars, came after you can understand why must wear formal clothes to book here afternoon tea, value for money.

Perfect afternoon tea! There is no-one that does an afternoon tea quite like The Ritz. Beautifully made sandwiches with lovely fresh fillings on soft bread, followed by simply delicious selection of cakes and pastries (including their cake of the day coming round on the trolley). All finished off with a fantastic selection of teas served in proper bone china from silverware and a glass of champagne. The service is impeccable and you cannot find a more beautifully finished room to sit in.

Visit the Palm Court cafe for Afternoon Tea. A great experience. Celebrated a birthday. Nice venue and location. There's a cloakroom for men and women opposite. I didn't see much else of the hotel. We arrived an hour early, so popped into the Clarence pub for a pint.

I was only at a gala dinner and it's definitely amazing! All impeccable. And the place… dreamy! Super attentive waiters, luxury service. Very good food. I have eaten better, but I think in this case the place is everything and therefore worth it. 100% recommended. Amazing!

Loved the special feeling of eating lunch here. Men must wear jacket & tie. The service is impeccable, the decor & staff as you would expect. The food is delicious. Would recommend adding the cheese course to your lunch menu as the trolley of British cheeses is a wonder to behold & taste.

I teach customer service for a living and this was the most impressive place I have ever stayed at to date! We stepped out of our cab to be welcomed like we were honored VIP guests and we were asked our surname. Our bags were quickly escorted to our room and we were guided to the check in desk where they were already waiting to personally welcome us by name. The staff in this hotel were so good that they would address us by our surnames anytime we saw them in the hotel. They were that attentive they remember our names even with all of the other guests and hustle and bustle! If it was raining (which it was a lot) we were immediately offered umbrella's and help in getting anywhere we needed to go. We wanted to get last minute reservations to a great restaurant and the concierge made it happen so easily. We felt at home in the most beautiful and luxurious hotel we could stay in. Afternoon tea was one of the most elegantly done experience we had and the food and attention to detail was top notch. I have food sensitivities and cannot eat dairy or gluten and they were able to customize my menu for the afternoon tea so I could enjoy all of the desserts and sandwiches made personally for me (with advanced notice)! That alone meant so much! Everything from the room, to the beds, to the gym, and room service, etc was exceptional and I could not recommend this hotel more. I felt like a part of the Royal family!

Great. In the center of London, convenient to get to the center in a short time.

Nice place but too uptight. On several occasions I was made to feel slightly uncomfortable. First by the doorman, asking me if “I had a question. ” when I proceeded to check in for my reservation. I told him no, I am a guest here. Secondly, they called me to let me know that there is a “no jeans” rule at afternoon tea. I had traveled from France and only brought a small bag with me and left any additional luggage in my other room. My jeans were dark and I definitely looked business casual. I travel business class and need to look appropriate for the cabin. Also No one informed me of their rule when booking. If I had known, I would have brought something more To their liking. When at afternoon tea I found the food to be a let down. Also, women were dressed in what seemed like evening gowns for afternoon tea. This is the middle of the afternoon. Very pretentious. I have more complaints but I will leave it at that. Before booking this place, consider the experience you are seeking. If you are looking for an uptight, pretentious, I am better than you place to stay, than stay here.

The service was totally great… The décor is fabulous… overwhelming… Great location… was mega satisfied…

I am given Afternoon Tea gifts for every birthday, Mothers day and Christmas because I love the whole civilised experience. My Ritz visit was by far the best to date. Who could fault the opulent surroundings and the attentive but not overbearing waiter service. We did wonder why we were given five pastries between two of us, were meant to fight over the last one or share them? Also I found I could not sit back in the chair as it would not tuck itself under the table and was therefore “perched “uncomfortably on the edge of it for the duration. The very long queues for both the toilet and cloak room were also disappointing and did not compliment the feel of a luxury experience.

Booked the famous Tea Party in Ritz for 15.30 with a strict time limit. Came on time, friendly waiters planted us and started the performance. Since we are Russian, ordered a Russian caravan tea. On desserts It is better to wait scones-it is the most tasty here, cupcakes too sweet. And sandwiches do not surprise us. The main thing-the atmosphere of the holiday, elegant people who celebrate birthdays or family holidays. Great event for just 55 lbs per person. Book better in advance. I recommend to all lovers of English traditions.

We had afternoon tea which was sublime. The Ritz is everything you would expect from a luxury hotel. I have been there many times and it has never disappointed me. The staff are amazing, very attentive and helpful. The Rivoli bar offers a superb cocktail menu. If you have never been it is a must.

I wish I could give 5 stars, but I cannot…and let me explain why. We had afternoon tea at the Ritz on the evening of 23 December. Everything was absolutely stunning – the decorations, the attention of the waiters, the food itself – plenty and delicious, the cakes – amazing, the tea – one of the best fruit tea we ever drank, liked it so much we bought a box, the music – pianist with live singing and a choir, the Ritz teddy bears for my kids – they loved them. But, at the end, when presented with the bill, they overcharged us by £50  Luckily I do check these bills and yes they rectified it straight away, but come on, £50 more than the confirmed price (which is not the cheapest anyway). For this reason alone, only 4 stars.

Christmas Eve afternoon tea at the Ritz was amazing. We had 13:30 reservation & were finished by 15:00. A selection of plain & fruit scones with clotted cream & jam. Cakes & macaroons were lovely. Sandwiches were beautiful with tomato bread filled with cheese & pickle being my favourite.

We were not allowed to go in to take a tea for not going properly dressed!

It's amazing… A piece of England's history is kept at the Ritz… Amazing rooms, room service and food a delicacy to the palate.

I have been most happily staying at the Ritz for over 40 years with my late wife, and this year I brought my daughter, son in law and two eldest grandchildren. The service was superb as usual, all of the staff from the most cheerful and helpful doorman, management, waiters, right through to room service. I cannot recommend this hotel with higher praise, I will never willingly stay anywhere in else when in town. The snow falling across the restaurant windows as we enjoyed our breakfast on Sunday was simply magical, and the food and service divine, as always. I have stayed in the finest 5 star hotels throughout Europe, most fortunately, all of my professional life, and nothing, … simply nothing, compares to the Ritz of London! Beautiful iconic hotel not many words is the best way to describe this place, one needs to go there, even if it's just for a drink. I've dined there and it was one of the most best dining experiences. The afternoon tea was superb in lush settings, but you need to book well in advance. I would definitely recommend. Pricey but we'll worth the treat whatever you do there.

Great place and very high level staff.

The Ritz is one of the most popular five star hotels in central London and is an historical icon of the city. I don't feel that you get value for money here and I also feel that there are better hotels offering more for your money. The hotel is famous for afternoon tea however you need to book this at least 6 months in advance, and be prepared to take a sitting at 19:30 in the evening as day time slots are like gold dust. There is also a strict dress code for afternoon tea so make sure you read up so as not to be turned away. Afternoon tea is average with little care taken in presentation and the main focus being on catering to as many covers as possible. The cost for afternoon tea is a lot higher that most of its closest competitors and the standard is lower that most too. If you're looking for a decent hotel or a lovely traditional afternoon tea experience, there are better places to go for much less. One positive is the staff, they're attentive and very helpful.

Very interesting cocktails in the bar, ambience and everything gorgeous. Thanks to Cloakroom, you can also visit sporadically after a city stroll — this is where you will be helped. Unfortunately, we couldn't rate the Five O 'clock Tea as we didn't get an appointment. But there are other great locations in London for that.

Worth going for the experience. The service was exceptional and the afternoon tea set was surprisingly filling. They give extra sandwiches and the cake portions were generous. Took my mum and she really enjoyed herself.

Fantastic service, food and wine in the main restaurant. Sistine chapel type setting with golden statues at one end and a wall of mirrors at the other end add to the feeling of oppulenence. Extremely helpful sommelier, down to earth and pragmatic over our desert wine options. Spent a leisurely 3 hour lunch, never feeling rushed during that time but the service was always to hand and unobtrusive. Freshest and finely cooked ingredients throughout. A place to savour and appreciate. Worth checking the wine list before you go otherwise you could be overwhelmed by the selection available. A place for special occasions or somewhere you want to share and celebrate with friends.

Wow! Thought I would feel somewhat out of place at a venue like this but everyone put us at ease. Waiters were phenomenal and really made it the experience special as there were "no stupid questions". No snobbery at all, tremendous experience with tremendous food and phenomenal service!

It's probably one of the most famous places in the world to enjoy a drink. If you are drawn by that then you should go. The staff and service are as excellent as you would imagine, as is the people watching. The bar itself is small but sublimly ornate. Is it one of the best places in London to enjoy a drink? — maybe. I think other places offer a more intimate atmosphere.

I went for afternoon tea with my partner on a really hot day. The air con isn't the best and men have to wear a jacket and tie, which somewhat ruined the experience as it was so warm! (Many women were in t-shirts and camisole tops, so it seemed unfair that men have such a strict dress code! ) The waiters were attentive and the food was really nice. Overall a good experience, but not the best! Nice overall.

We went for afternoon tea yesterday. I knew it would be lovely but it was even better than expected. Delicious sandwiches, cakes, scones and lashings of clotted cream. So many different teas to choose from too. Staff were fantastic. A really super treat.

Went for afternoon tea at The Ritz as a treat for my girlfriend's Mum who is visiting from Australia. We had a great experience, the staff were attentive and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The surroundings of the Palm Court are grand and certainly enhance the occasion. There's a wide selection of teas to choose from, lovely sandwiches, warm scones on demand, delicate pastries and brilliant cakes on offer. For a special occasion I cannot recommend The Ritz highly enough.

Afternoon tea at the Ritz, what more can a girl want. Let them know it was my mother's birthday and so they came out at the end with a birthday cake for her and the pianist played happy birthday. It was delightful. Would return and would recommend.

We had afternoon tea at The Ritz, and it was a wonderful! The food was tasty, the service impeccable, and the decor absolutely stunning. There was also line piano music, which added to the elegant atmosphere. It was definitely a highlight of our vacation in London. You do need to make reservations fairly far in advance — at least a couple weeks.

This is an external review from an architectural perspective as we sell property. This building looks older than it is due to some clever improvisation in 1906. It was built after the Paris Ritz and the only thing lacking is a grand entrance. It's presence on Piccadilly blends beautifully with the other great houses.

Popped in for drinks at the bar. The cocktail menu was divine with some very interesting twists in some classic cocktails. The decor was stunning but the highlight if our visit must be the pink ladies washrooms. Service was excellent. Wouldn't expect any less from the Ritz.

The set lunch menu at a Michelin star restaurant is well worth the price.

It's shameful, we were denied the entrance to the CAFE because we were in sneakers… No luxury hotel has ever allowed itself the same pitiful welcome. At the Ritz in Paris this would never have happened. What a medieval mentality in the heart of London.

Really great and unique Hotel next to Buckingham Palace. First class personal service. Airy and light Dining Room. Well appointed rooms with air conditioning.

I run a series of industry dinners and we use the Goring's private dining as one of our venues. The room and service are impeccable and the menu is interesting and very good quality. Service in the bar is class-leading with a mix of attentiveness and expertise that is a real pleasure. This is a quietly luxurious oasis of understated service.

We were here for afternoon tea (19:30). The food is excellent. Especially the finger sandwiches. Flavor combinations were good. Poor selection of cakes/tartes though. Only 2. Reflecting the elegant nature of the hotel's architecture, we expected impeccable service, but that was not the case. First of all, there was no one to take our coats. We had to take them away ourselves! My wife was a little bit cold, so she wanted to keep her coat, but that was not allowed! Why? Second, most of the staff was either cranky or unfriendly. None of them smiled when talking to us. We didn't feel welcome. Only when the bill was presented a smile appeared. Third, some of the staff kept bumping into my chair without an apology of any sort. They just walked away. Fourth, tables were very close to each other, so there was no privacy at all. The result is that it was very noisy. Felt more like a mess hall than a luxurious spot for afternoon tea. Last but not least, one of the staff sneezed right next to the cart with cakes without turning away and covering his mouth. We did not have cakes from that cart. At the end you had to leave in about about 90 minutes! Why? The whole point of afternoon tea is relaxing and taking it easy! This could've been such a wonderful experience. Too bad it wasn't.

I had a birthday meal here and it was perfect. The staff were very friendly and gave us superb service. The live singer and musicians were very good and gave the place a fitting atmosphere given the lavish decorations. The food was delicious.

I love the ritz and always stay here. The food is exceptional and the service is only the best. The theme is so welcoming and homely. I alway feel at home here and the afternoon tea is top quality. Great for a visit and would never visit without.

Simply excellent. This was planned as a 60th birthday present so the expense was expected to be high. The food was exquisite and the service brilliant at all times. If you have the opportunity to go, do!

Had dinner here last night for my Finacee's birthday… service was impeccable, friendly, but not overly so. You felt special, looked after, like the only person in the room. They knew what we needed/wanted as we thought of it, from water, to more wine, to the food arriving. The food was perfect, from tiny taste explosions for canapes, to rich smooth starters, to complex main course to amuse bouches at the end, all in perfect quantities so that you're full, but not too full. The sommelier was helpful, happyy to explain, happy to help us find a wine within our budget (can't afford a £200 bottle, unfortunately! ) I can't believe The Ritz doesn't have a Michelin star, but then maybe there's no star suitable for such an institution of a place. If I could, I would live at The Ritz — you'd always be happy there!

A beautiful afternoon tea for valentines. Everything that was a requirement I. E time allowed for the tea was stated before hand when booking so no surprises and we were able to take our champagne In the lounge. Staff were friendly and smiling and very attentive. I understand staff probably get asked to take pictures all the time and perhaps if they were aware of how to take a proper picture it would be the icing on the cake but that is just me being extra and not exactly in their job description. :) A beautiful hotel most definitely returning again thank you RitzLondon for a wonderful afternoon.

Had afternoon tea here last week, £45 each. For that price I was expecting a luxury feed but it was quite disappointing. Don't get me wrong — it was nice enough but I've had better at other places. The cakes were a bit stingy as apart from a small chocolate cake each (which was too rich for us to finish) you only get one of each sweet item. So we had to share a macaron and mille-feuille and when they brought the cake trolley around you have to chose between two cakes as they don't give you a slice each. The tea I chose, Russian Caravan, was very good as were the scones, jam and clotted cream. Sandwiches were average. Another thing that was disappointing is the Palm Parlour isn't a separate room, it's just a big alcove off the main reception area. Ladies room was ridiculously elaborate which I loved. I wouldn't got back to the Ritz for afternoon tea nor would I recommend it. They don't even let you take leftovers home which many other high-end hotels do, Claridges for one. It certainly doesn't feel as special as you would expect it to.

We had the champagne afternoon tea. It is of course a beautiful environment but the tea and service was very average. My wife wanted coffee which was cold and stale and we had to send it back. Complacency has set in.

I think this place gets by because of the name and it's history. The problem is you can get much better afternoon tea at other places in London for the same amount of money or cheaper. The staff are a bit impersonable and the food is a bit average.

The Ritz is a fine establishment with a long and rich history. We went for Afternoon tea but I can't say it was as good as I thought it would be. I have had better in other London hotels for far less. The scones were dry and not freshly baked. Why not.

I was excited to stay here, but I could not make a reservation over the telephone after 40 minutes. I was repeatedly shuffled around between an endless procession of employees, and none of them was able to simply reserve a room for me. I found this to be very difficult to believe because one of the "managers" told me they currently had 300 employees on duty. During this process, I was hung up on three times while waiting on hold. The worst part is that once I was hung up on in the middle of providing credit card information to an employee who (after 30 of those 40 minutes) said he could reserve a room for me. I wasn't even trying to book the room for myself; I made it very clear that I was attempting to book it for a terminal cancer patient in the Make-A-Wish program. This resulted in no special concern from any of the employees I had the misfortune of interacting with. Businesses that go out of their way to put up barriers to taking your money are not to be trusted.

My partner and I had a very enjoyable evening meal at The Ritz. I booked this for my partners birthday treat, and we had such a great time! The service was excellent; the waiters are very attentive and went out of their way to ensure we were looked after. We had the 3 course set menu with a glass of champagne. I had the Roasted duck liver and my partner had the Heirloom Tomato as starters, it came out looking fantastic, and it tasted even better than it looked, for mains we decided on saddle of lam and the bresse pigeon, again the food was cooked to perfection, for dessert we had the exotic soufflé, beautifully presented, and attention to detail! When I made the booking I mentioned it was a birthday celebration and at the end of our meal the presented a small cake to my partner which was a lovely gesture. Overall an exceptionally amazing evening and very good value for money at a special venue.

I could barely contain my excitement as my boyfriend and I walked through the elegant entrance hall of the Ritz in London. It may seem silly to some, but it’s not everyday that one gets to take afternoon tea at the Ritz, an institution synonymous with aristocratic elegance and the glory of a bygone era. Being a hardcore tea drinker (although I have always been perplexed by coffee aficionados), I love afternoon tea: an affair which the Ritz is famous for taking to decadent heights. As we walked down the gilded hall, the soft lull of music guided us to Palm Court, the Ritz’s stately and bejeweled tea room. Once seated, I looked around the room. Despite the price (about sixty-six dollars per person), the twelve week advance reservation requirement, and it being a Wednesday, the room was packed with elegantly dressed individuals. Neither jeans nor sneakers were to be seen in this crowd of cocktail-dress wearing and coat and tie bearing customers—the Ritz has a very strict dress policy. I savored the old-world charm of the room: the gilded ceiling, the crystal chandeliers, the waiters in tails, and the ever present tinkle of china and conversation. The place exuded charm, refinement and over all luxury. I was definitely ready to start.

Amazing food. PERFECT service. Comfort and calm rule this gem. Worth the cost.

Quite stunning vegetables and a well balanced roast lunch. Had to ask nicely for rib rather than sirloin but service was more jovial than the Goring. Room is spectacular and comfortable enough to nod off after coffee and pet it fours.

Dinner was quite nice, though not as good as the Dorchester Grill in my opinion. Very refreshing to get a bill that included service at the end of the night. Head waiter Paul was great and the service perfect. Food was good but had no real wow tastes that I expect from a top restaurant. Live music was a bit hit and miss. The piano and then dancing music at the end of the night was good, but could've done without the rest.
