The service. Staff went out of their way to help us with our booking as we needed to check in earlier. They were efficient and thoughtful. Very reasonably priced with a fantastic breakfast the next morning!

Reasonable priced accommodation with a games room, bar and mini kitchens. Good breakfast and brilliant location. Right next to the Tate Modern! The kitchen didn't have an oven but that shouldn't effect most people.

This is a great place for many reasons. Location is amazing since it's right downtown and next to many of the most popular sights. The value for the money goes without saying. For the price, you'd expect some cheap accommodation type yet the room was very clean, spacious enough and very quiet. Best of all is the breakfast which can easily satisfy you for almost the whole day. It also has a lot of variety. Going from eggs and bacon, to fruits, cereal, pancakes and also many choices of drinks. I highly recommend this place and I would go back anytime.

I stayed at this B. B. Last night. I would like to say it’s a no frills room BUT we had all we needed. A clean room tea and coffee. The staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful. I slept well and woke up to get an awesome breakfast. One of the best I have ever had. Ty guys for making our first overnight stay in London a happy safe experience xxxx.

Had a amazing stay in Bankside House located just behind TATE MODERN as a summer B&B deal. The place was clean, unlimited breakfast — lovely; in the basement available laundry area with ironing facilities, six lifts getting You quickly to Your destination floor, magnificent views of London City. The only downfall preventing me from giving the maximum five star note was the kitchen facility — lack of access to available kitchens. Will definitely return again.

Bankside deserves 5 stars, because it's in an awesome location behind the Tate Modern, and when I stayed the night it was for a very reasonable price and included breakfast. The breakfast team were cheerful and helpful and went out their way to check various ingredients for me. I'd previously recently stayed in a place in London 3 times what I paid here and I can honestly say I preferred Bankside, where the service was much better. In each case I was a single traveller. The room I stayed in was basic with a single bed and I shared a bathroom with the room next door, but had it to myself as that room wasn't occupied when I stayed. It was clean and unpretentious and did the job nicely. They also supplied towels. They don't have Wi-Fi though, but this didn't matter to me as I used my own data. If you're not bothered about staying in basic accommodation, then somewhere like Bankside is a great option.

Positive stuff first: great welcome, fantastic breakfast, and convenient location. However it is rough. The beds are more like camping than a hotel. The bathroom absolute minimum and a little unreliable. Perhaps the biggest negative is that the water in the bathroom is NOT DRINKING WATER. Drinking water is only available from one place in the building. So you can safely brush your teeth, let alone drink. Overall ok if you are looking for cheap digs, however set your expectations way low, even for student accommodation, and you will be about right.

Stayed overnight after attending a nearby function. Can't fault it. The reception staff were friendly and efficient. Our double room with TV was bright and airy, the bed very comfortable, and the en suite was clean with towels, washing gel and shampoo provided free of charge. There was also tea and coffee making facilities in the small lounge which formed part of the accommodation. Of course, you have to remember that you are staying in student accommodation so it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but for what's on offer and bearing in mind the location, you wouldn't get a better price. My wife and I will definitely visit again.

I have lived here both as a student resident and as a hotel guest. (VERDICT at the very end) Being a hotel guest, there are a lot to praise: the inexpensive room charge, the responsive staff, the good cleaning service, the tasty breakfast, the great location, etc. As a HOTEL GUEST, I give 4 stars to this place. Living here as a student is a different story. This place is a LSE self owned property, and all the student residents are from LSE. The price for a single room is around £215 a week, which is ok. The restaurant provides dinner for student residents, but with very limited choices of main courses each evening, and you can only choose one of them (sometimes being a slice of 150g fish), you end up with filling yourself up with tomatoes and plain rice… There are some kitchens in each floor, however they are always occupied whenever you want to cook. The fridges are limited and thefts happen a lot. The walls between rooms are thin and empty inside, which means you hear clearly when your flat mate opens doors, flushes the toilet and takes showers. If you happen to have a flat mate who comes back at 02:00 am everyday and sometimes takes shower at that time, you’re screwed up. As a STUDENT RESIDENT, I give 2 stars to this place. ONE IMPORTANT THING to bare in mind: just next to this building are two very popular bars, which sometimes keep busy until 2:00 am.

A nice clean place and full of kindness. All the staff and friendly and helpful with the people who need assistance. The room is very clean and the details are very neat. Located in the heart of the historic city of London. Easily accessible by public transport but also with a nice walk between the history and modernity of London. All points of attraction for tourists. A long silent and really quiet. The cooperation and the English but it is fabulous and exquisite. The breakfast room is large and well-accurate. Personally I felt quiet free and comfortable. Really a beautiful and quiet place in London and I would stay there every day as I can. Congratulations to everyone for everyone and everything. The best breakfast ever! And value for money in London!

The hotel was reasonably priced compared to others. But it was not particularly beautiful. For the half of the year it serves as a school/intern-like building and so it is also furnished. The windows were also quite noisy and it was not really cozy. The breakfast was rather unappetizing and rather less choice of good things. Likewise, the dining room was very overflowing in the morning. All in all it wasn't particularly great there but for the price probably OK. The location was very good. And it's a Vapiano quasi behind the house!

Yummy breakfast good. Kitchen staff are lovely. Rooms are nice and beds are comfy. Bathrooms a little old but you'll figure it out. (Shower not tall people friendly… Ouch! )

Great location in the most modern area of London. The building externally is a house of about five floors not even too nice but well kept, six lifts inside very large, clean room with private bathroom. Cleaning and changing towels every day. Very young and friendly staff. Possibility to have breakfast in the large living room with numerous tables and available to eat for free brioches/fruit/bacon/eggs and coffee/milk/juice at will the Council also saw the price. Ten minutes from the Bridge of London Bridge.

Very good location. Close to the River Thames and modern art museums. Good breakfast, varied, hearty and quality. Nice staff. Very Spartan room. Deserves a little refreshment…

Budget and 10 minutes from the nearest Metro.

I wanted somewhere that was close enough to walk to the British Museum, handy to Waterloo station for my ongoing trip, and didn't cost an arm and a leg. Banks idea house fit the bill, but it is a college residence used as a hotel when there aren't classes. Don't expect fancy, but it is clean and comfortable. Good breakfast.

Good location, friendly staff and generous breakfast. But it is a dormatory, a place for some poor student to sleep, not a hotel by any means. I did not make this booking myself, and I would gladly have paid a bit more for some more comfort, and a less gloomy experience. The room was just depressing, and I didn't want to to spend an unnecessary minute there. Sure it will be fine for many people, just not what I needed.

If you need to stay in central London on a budget during the summer, Bankside House is an absolute bargain. As you would expect from student accommodation, it's pretty basic, but it's clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet isn't exactly gourmet, but it's tasty enough and there's plenty of hot and cold options as well as tea, coffee and juice – much better than other budget options I've tried. The free Wi-Fi is top-notch, as you would expect from a university. The biggest compromises: drinking water is a bit of a faff to get, as you have to track down the one unlocked kitchen on your floor. And the showers are tiny — expect to accidentally turn your shower off or change the temperature on a regular basis.

The Bankside House of LSE has a strict policy on luggage storeroom. No luggage will be allowed to stay overnight. London is an ideal hub for other European countries. You may stay in London for a couple of days, you plan to leave a luggage in London and to Paris for a week, then come back to London and visit for another week. Your ideal plan do not work out if you choose to stay with LSD. Choose where you stay wisely. Find a friendly b & b, not LSE Bankside House.

Great breakfast, basic but functional rooms, comfy beds, helpful & smiling staff. Excellent location, would go back. Shower was a bit small & awkward. Just a shame about the other inconsiderate young guests (Stafford House foreign language students in big groups) who were so loud in the corridors & outside late at night & early in the morning. Sing & shout in your rooms, not public areas please!

A very decent place to stay when visiting London, when you just need your room to cover your basic needs, and without paying much. Pretty clean and spacious rooms, created as student dormitories, with 4 beds and two desks. The beds, even though they looked like folding beds, were comfortable. Breakfast was very good and had many choices. Room service was provided every other day. Small kitchens were available if someone wanted to prepare a small meal. Would definitely recommend to young travelers or those in business or leisure who just want a decent place to stay.

This is the only place I have stayed at in London, but it was excellent! Great breakfast, outstanding centralized location. The beds were not the most comfortable, but they were certainly adequate. This is a great place to stay.

Hotel style apartments very clean and well furnished. Nice bar with cheap drinks albeit a very young crowd.

Stayed with a friend studying at LSE. Food was good, room good. Bar quite nice too.

Cheap, but very basic accomodation (it's a student dorm outside of the summer break), with absolutely ZERO attempt to make (bath) rooms look just a weeee bit welcoming. Does have a good breakfast buffet that will set you up for the day. Main positive: immediately across from the Tate Modern, and you could (as few to) explore the redeveloped neighbourhood towards Tower Bridge.

I was very pleased with LSE Bankside. They'll hold your bags if you get in early, strong Wi-Fi connection, some say rooms can be hot but mine was perfect. It is within minutes from the Thames and great food options surround the building. It is a typical "dorm" styled room, but the sheets and towels were always clean. Again, for the price you pay everything was truly above what I expected. My only two cons in the entire time I stayed was, the staff wasn't always that friendly. It definitely depended on who you talked to, but some of them could try and be a bit kinder. The second would be, that it wasn't as close to a tube stop as I would of liked. But again, for the price I was willing to sacrifice that! Overall, VERY impressed with everything LSE Bankside had to offer and would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to London. I'd for sure stay again!

Cant beat location if you want to visit Tate Modern, Globe, Borough Market. Not far from Southbank.
Adequate facilities in the room and always clean. Corridors tend to be a bit smelly. Its all very basic as it is student acommodation. Pity there are no double beds in Bankside but I find the singles comfortable. Everything works well but there are no frills. But it is so cheap in comparison to other places that I'm not complaining,
You can have a large breakfast if you want and that is included in the room price. Canteen style and sometimes very busy but staff get you through quickly. Its much more self service that before and I miss the cheery serving staff. The staff have always been helpful and some really friendly. I ve styed here a few times and will again because you cant beat it for VFM. Thanks Bankside.

This close to the Tate Modern museum. The rooms are correct but they are clean. The breakfast buffet very good and varied. Is not very far from metro.

I stayed here the past two nights as I had job training in London. It it quite basic but comfortable. The bathroom was shared with another room next to mine (this was not a problem as we were both doing the same training event). There was ample storage space if you were to unpack your bag, a kettle with some hot drink sachets, a desk and a lamp by the bedside. The covers provided were not the most comfortable but again, satisfactory. Breakfast was great! A wide selection of hot and cold food, fruits, pastries, hot and cold drinks. It was a buffet set up so you could go back for as much as you wanted. There is a bar/lounge downstairs and communal kitchens for drinking water on the floors. Good stay overall.

The only thing good was the breakfast classic English, after there was a lot of noise around the hotel, the rooms girls, and the staff are generally pretty grumpy.

The location was very convenient as it was very close to the south bank and a choice of three underground stations. The rooms were OK, it got very warm some night and I could not sleep. The beds weren't very comfortable. The shower was pretty good and the room in general was good. A decent breakfast including juice and hot drinks. Although the fruit options were very minimal. My main issue is that the showers are too noisey, when ever the people staying in the room next door took a shower it was very loud, and for some reason one night they decided to take showers at 12-1 am. However overall I enjoyed my stay.

This grey and depressing place has the air of an asylum. If you don't want to ruin your vacation, stay away.

It is good for the location and it is cheap. But I will not stay here again, coz the desk staff are unbearably useless and rude. I asked her the direction and she just let me check the internet! It is so horrible.

Although the location is convenient — Bankside it's a nightmare from other point of views. Rooms lack basic cleanliness (dirty carpet, stained bed sheets and duvet). I found hairs and stains in mine. Mattresses are in very bad shape, the one in my room was old and extremely uncomfortable. Moreover, room and bathroom cleaning is performed superficially, there is lack to basic cleaning and details (mildew in bathroom are in plain sight). Breakfast is — at best — below average (small quantities, lack of variety and quality, some unfriendly staff). Staff is generally friendly, however not always helpful. Management is seldom available to help with concerns and may be rude at times. I asked a manager to call me several times and never returned my call. Laundry room is in bad shape, machines are not well kept. I've been in other London accommodations and had a better overall experience. Granted, a hostel is a hostel, but this one lacks all the basics.

A good place to stay in during SUmmer Holidays. Book your full stay for a discount. Well placed for the Southbank. Expensive restaurants only around it. M&S nearby for food. Worth it. Rooms okay and clean.
