Probably the worst place I've ever stayed. Unhelpful and rude staff, rooms weren't great and just overall bad. I don't know what it is about hostels when they say they're for 18 — 35s, but they seem to attract lots of older (way older than 35) creepy guys who lurk in common areas. Worst pillows you can possibly buy but for some reason they have three power outlets and two usbs in each bed, why spend the money on that? I'd happily charge my phone in the corner if I could just have a good pillow. It was your typical backpacker crowd with guests just wanting to get drunk (and sometimes make out downstairs). The music was blaring from the bathrooms at 5.30am. I'm not sure if the sheets were dirty or stained and the photo is of what appears to be boogers wiped on the wall. They wanted to charge us £1 per bag to store after we'd checked out and I'm not sure if they were stored securely. The private rooms were just access codes and who knows how often they change them. For some reason the guy at the desk went out for a smoke at checkout time and staff often weren't around during the day, which is annoying when you want to get a locker or food box. The only redeeming features were the proximity to the train and the extensive VHS library.

I was tired but kept waking up throughout the morning to what I thought was the bed shaking from movement above me and other hostel-goers waking up and going about their day; a shaking that would cause my blanket to keep falling off my legs. My state of sleeplessness put me quickly back to sleep. I had my glasses sitting above me, so I also was visual incapacitated without them as well. But I quickly realized it was not the bed shaking when I woke up the next time to my blanket being pulled off my legs and onto the bed opposite my feet while a stranger reached between the bed frame and laid his foreign fingers on my legs. I tried to wake up and reach for my glasses, still half asleep. Meanwhile, the man stood from his bed, walked to mine, and removed my privacy shield and began running his fingers against my leg. By this time I had found my glasses but not my courage. I remained quiet and my body shook at every joint with every movement. I pulled my legs towards my body in fetal position searching for anything to cover myself off. Where had my blanket gone? He muttered something as he entered my space but I managed to slam the curtain shut in his face. My glasses allowed my to see this bunk-mate as much older than I would have deemed appropriate under "youth hostel. " He moved my privacy curtain again and slammed it in his face once again, trying to hide my body and my face to this invader. My mind finally got to catch up with my body and realized the bed was not moving.

Pesimo treatment of workers. The owner enters the guest rooms in the morning to awaken the workers (yes, workers, and guests share a room) despite the fact that it is not your work schedule. Should pass an inspection because it has beds and in closets where people sleep although they pay the same as those who sleep in a room normal.

It's a wonderful place to stay for a couple of days, the staff is super friendly and always ready to help with either figuring out what to do, how the underground works or how to get to the airport of your preference. The rooms are not fancy or anything, but they are adequate. You get a bed and a metal box to put your stuff into (though you gotta bring your own lock to lock the box) and breakfast is included. Same here though: nothing fancy. All in all, our stay was very pleasant, and if I'm ever back in London, I'd stay here again!

Best hostel ever. Mikey who works here is an absolute doll, I love him. I met some of the friendliest people at this hostel, very accommodating and helpful people. I was there for three days I had a 6 mixed room, everyone has their space and the bathrooms are updated.

You got more than what you expected and the staffs were really nice. Worth the price!

Great hospitality and rooms clean. And best part was the bathrooms. Surprisingly they were really clean for a hostel. Worth the money.

Really enjoyed my stay at London backpackers. Looking forward to go back next week. Really friendly staff whom are more than willing to help you if you have any issues. Clean tidy lounge area to relax in.

Still one of the best hostels I've been to. The beds are all equipped with plugs, lights, and privacy shades. Free breakfast doesn't hurt either.

Nice environment, freindly people, near convenience stores and underground station, and cheap! I booked the 21 bed mixed dorm and they put me in a 12 bed girls dorm and then moved me to a 6 bed girls dorm. I was there for a little more than a week *in the off season* and I rather enjoyed my stay despite having a cold for part of it, but I have to say, the charge for the washing machine and dryer is a bit high and they could add some curtains to the ends of the beds, rather than just the one long side opposite the wall, for a little extra privacy. Also, the rooms get very stuffy, so be prepared to leave the window open a bit, even if it is cold out, and a lot of the people staying here are long term, but that just means you have access to local guides right in your room! ;)

Location is essential, but it has everything you need, a few steps from the metro station (Northern Line, Zone 3) where the weekly subscription of the Metro costs about fifty euros. Very cozy atmosphere and lots of nice Italian guests.

Friendly stuff and good location. Although the building itself is old and not spacey.

Near the station, free breakfast in the morning, great way to meet new friends.

Shittest hostel ever. Thieves are everywhere in the hostel. And the room is gross.

Good place to stay, the only thing is the thin walls and the not so rich breakfast. Anyway it's amazing for its price and for the position.

London Backpackers is the right choice if you're looking for a nice and coozy place to stay for short/long time.
Prices are competitive and breakfast is included and served everyday with a nice rate of choice, so if you're a porridge or milk lover don't worry you will find what you like.
If you want a nice and clean place all you need to know is that every rooms and bathrooms are cleaned everyday with deep cleanings schedule once a week for each room.
The common area is fully furnished with a full working kitchen wich includes pans, pots and plates so you can cook your own stuff, in the same area laundry place is provided to wash and dry your clothes.
If you need help just give a shout to the staff or straight to one of the receptionists, everybody are always ready to help you.
It's even a safe place, violence and abuses are not tollerated and every cases are punished with a permanent ban straight away.
I've been there for five months before moving, I met nice people and made such nice friends and had so much good times.

Stayed here when I came to wrestle in Croydon, very welcoming people, came, wrestled, left, came back two days later … The place is well looked after, the kitchen is great for preparing your own meals which is a god send when your also competing in a bodybuilding composition, not many other hostels offer this service. The place is cleaned everyday, not just started but well looked after, staff are happy to change begging for you whenever you request if your a long term guest. Breakfast is included in your room rate! No trouble here as management have zero tolerance for that, making this a very good place to be. Book in here!

The room was very stuffy and unventilated. The window in our room was always closed because of noise in the street, which caused our room to become horribly smelly and humid.

Really cool staff. Stayed in a ten person room and it was alright. Bathrooms could be cleaner but weren’t gross.

It's one of the best hostels in London great location, great cleanliness, and great atmosphere.

Update: The owner spoke with me and cleared up that it is illegal on London to have an open kitchen. Apparently there are postings about the kitchen closing somewhere in the building, but I was unable to find them. Be aware that the signs that state "no eating or drinking in rooms" means don't have anything that resembles food or drink in the dorms, or they will take it and put it up for free in the kitchen. Even if it is an unopened gift from/to someone. The deposit for the kitchen box is non-refundable, which wasn't stated at time of borrowing the box. Only the card key deposit is returned. Dorms are VERY warm and stuffy. Bring light night clothes. Again, communication could use work. For the cost, it isn't bad. Clean rooms and facilities. It is right across the street from the Hendon Central Station. Free breakfast that is mediocre. (Slices of cheese, butter, and jam for toast and cereal. Feeling of kitchen is that you cannot make your own breakfast. Staff hover in kitchen while everyone eats. ) The communication is a joke, though. 1. No word upon checking in that they close the kitchen at 09:00 and at night. I found this out by being kicked out at 9am when I was trying to make my breakfast. A few of us were kicked out at 00:30 as well by the front desk attendant. I have never been to a hostel where they kick you out of a gathering area, lest the kitchen and food prep area. 2a. They lock the front door when changing over beds.

Nice hostel, has all basic facilities that one will need, can be a bit crowded and the showers/toilets can have a bit of a line.

Decent hostel, though they really pack you into rooms (triple decker beds). The workers are really nice, but there aren't enough bathrooms and there are a lot of long term guests, which makes this place not feel like a true "backpacker hostel"

Anyone who wants a real hostel feeling is right here.
18BettenSchlafsäle, a fairly cozy kitchen and a certain basic cleanliness are there.
The staff is also very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately there is no place for bicycles.
The breakfast is only made of toast, strawberry jam, butter, cheese and cornflakes. So extremely little choice.

Very cheap. Clean place. Good option if you are on "party trip".

Beds a little uncomfortable and is often noisy, but staff were perfectly friendly and it was only £12 for a night in London so can't really ask for much more. Bear in mind that it is in zone 3 so does take a little bit of travelling to reach central London and its attractions.

It is a Hostel designed for teenagers. There are no comforts for big people. Girls ' rooms. The pillows are not comfortable. The Hostel is 15 km from the centre. The services they provide are very good (breakfast, Laundry, showers).

Excellent place. A little far from central London, but absolutely recommended for young people.

Nice place! Funny and very friendly staff! Had a good time there :) Compared to other hostels, the other guests weren't as chatty and open-minded as we were used to. The kitchen was quite messy, the storage boxes and fridges are always stuffed, and don't expect a real Continental Breakfast. CB is a euphorism for toast, butter, jam, cornflakes and disgusting orange juice :) We've had breakfast elsewhere. The Central station ist just across the street, takes up to 20 mins to reach the City Centre. There is a variety of shops and takeaway in this area; Hendon is a quite Jewish area, so don't be surprised. Brent Cross Shopping Centre is about 15 mins walk away with plenty of shops to satisfy your shopping needs. Even a walk to Hampstead is doable! :)

I booked double room in this "hotel" and about an hour after that I received email that there is no double room available for me even that I already booked. They told me that there is twin room for me. Even that I booked double room they told me that there is no discount or compensation about that and the price will be the same even that will be single bed not double. I told them that I am not happy with that, but I need of this room as there wasn't time to find another room as this happened less than 24 hours before my arrive. After few hours I received another email that the twin room is booked from someone else and there is no room for me. Disgusting. Scammers! Everybody need to be careful with this "hotel"!

The hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Directly at a subway station (about 20 minutes to the centre). Beds with curtain and USB charging station. Small, slightly chaotic breakfast room.
For a hostel overall very good!
