The Hour Glas Hotel is not an international hotel. I only know floor showers and floor-to-ceiling toilts from old movies. Everything is reminiscent of the 50s and 60s. The area is characterized by social buildings. If you want to get to know London from its real side and live where the ordinary citizen lives, you're right there.
But leave your fingers off the pizza in the associated pub. It's just a baked pizza.

Small hotel, friendly staff, clean. The Wi-Fi didn't work, no English breakfast and is only to order. Quiet and accessible area by tube and bus from central London.

The Hotel has a small Refrigerator in each Room, as well as a TV And Sink. On the Aisle you will find several Toilets and Showers, as well as a Kitchen in which there is also a Washing Machine and a Dryer. By Bus you have easy Access to the City centre right on the front Door. At the bottom of the House there is also a Pub, from which you can't get anything at night. The perfect Way to spend a cheap one in London.

Top place top people cheep clean room and an all round well looked after place and very easy to get around London from there as it is right on main bus and tube routes.

The Hour Glass is clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Although basic, the rooms are more spacious than in other hotels I've stayed in at this price. It's a great budget option, especially as there are kitchen facilities, so if you're staying longer you don't need to worry about the cost of eating out for every meal. While less well-placed for the tube and central London than some other budget options, it's close to the Old Kent Road for bus connections, and a very short walk from the lovely Burgess Park, which is a bonus. The free Wi-Fi is better than in other hotels I've used. Keep in mind that reception is in the pub downstairs, so check-in is easiest when the pub is open — aim to arrive at a suitable time!

Poor room had ants in the room and there was mould in the bathroom but they put clear silicone over it then have the cheek to take payments out my bank account with out letting me know! When try to solve it they got rude on the phone and slams the phone down on me have got video Evidence of it all.

Excellent little place to stay room was spotless so was the shared bathrooms and toilet would def stay again if we're in London staff friendly aswell.

Very good hotel-hostel. Very consistent value for money.
All very clean, comfy beds, the common bathrooms are better than the ones in my house. And a large communal kitchen, very practical to cook anything, including washing machine and dryer at your disposal.
A great deal for staff art.
In Zone 2 very close to the 1 (Elephant & Castle). With very good communication to the city. (You are in the center in 20 minutes)
I wish I'd discovered it before.
In London there are places that fall apart, with rats for twice the price.

Very nice little hotel hidden in an area where perhaps you wouldn't expect to find nice hotels! It was very clean, cosy and the owner was very welcoming. The room was perfect for two friends on a catch up trip to London on a low budget who really didn't want to stay somewhere that would leave us feeling sullied or itching with regret again! It was obviously quite bust when we stayed but not a noisy place. Check in and out was smooth and although transport was not as straightforward as in some areas we stayed it was still not too inaccessible with a bit if forward planning. There were good facilities in the room including a fridge! The bathroom was small but very clean. I would recommend putting judgements of the area aside to enjoy this little gem.

The room was very tidy and good value for money with lots of facilities available.

A very nice place. A bar/pub on the ground floor where you can interact with the locals who come for a tipple. Owner is very helpful and the pizza is good. Happy hours is good too.

If you're looking for a basic room to stay in while enjoying London I'd recommend this place. It's simple, but worked great, and the staff is very helpful. We stayed in the two twin room for 7 days and the beds were comfy and clean and the facility felt secure. There were two showers on the floor which were also very clean. Towels were provided as well as shampoo and soap. There were three bus stops into London central, all within a 10 minute walk (one right out front). For us being caught between the decision of spending twice as much on a name brand hotel, or considering less privacy by staying in a hostel, this place rocked.

Petit hôtel, personnel sympathique, propre. Le Wi-Fi ne fonctionnait pas, pas de petit déjeuner anglais et n'est que sur commande. Quartier calme et accessible en métro et bus depuis le centre de Londres.

Hotel is very clean cooking facilities local shops take away restaurant 1 mile tower bridge what more do you need.

Really comfortable room and bed! Amazing shower and very clean. Staff were extra helpful and left us to enjoy an extremely nice place.

Small tight rooms, don't drop the soap in the shower stall, have to open the shower door to get enough room to bend over to pick it up. The place is clean and a good price.

Didn't go in the hotel but around the area and I can say it's quite a nice place.

The Hour Glass, for its price, location, and friendly service, is a perfect hotel. We checked in late around 11:30 PM, and the attendant was extremely friendly and willing to help. In fact, we were given an upgrade from a twin room to a triple for the same price when there was a little mix up within the booking system (not the fault of the hotel). The beds are extremely comfortable and clean, the Wi-Fi is fast (and also free), and the bathroom facilities are very hygienic. I highly recommend the Hour Glass.

Location Economic. Great location with bus stop in front of the entrance. Near Elephant and Castle. Shared kitchen with everything you need always clean.

The hotel was clean affordable and the staff were very friendly. Its great there is washing facility, cooking and free Wi-Fi. For the long haul budget customer like me! You can easily get to central London as a five minute bus ride takes you directly to the elephant and castle tube/subway. But for the adventurous who want to see the real side of British culture. This hotel gives you a sneak peak! I also think it's great to see a diverse team of young people running a successful business! Nice work!

It is a hotel that is very well for its price it has 30 rooms, some have bathroom inside the room, and if this is not the case you have a bathroom on each floor that are 3 with Wi-Fi free, there is a kitchen to use all the comprehensive users who even has a washing machine and dryer.

Very good and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Not far from bus station. Best price-quality ratio in London. Dark drapes in case you want to sleep in the sunny morning. There is a big kitchen with two microwaves, toaster, washing and dryer machines. Also TV, electric kettle and fridge in the room. The window is very big, a long battery under it and additionaly a separate little electric battery.

I was in this hotel, booked a room, but unfortunately my friend and I London trip was canceled, so I was in the booking. Con use e-mail in the in day for five weeks was cancelled (at this date, cancellations are free of charge). Results I be required to pay for this hotel, and demanded the return of compensation. No one here is interested because there is evaluation bad.

It's above a pub, but not noisy at all but be mind full service isn't best for price you pay for it.

Friendly atmosphere, clean and quiet and a very helpful staff. Good value for money if you're looking for a place to stay in south London. Good communications from Elephant and Castle, night bus just outside the door. Don't be put off by the relative scruffiness of the neighbourhood, we felt really safe here, reasonable precautions taken (no shortcuts through dark alley ways basically:)

Hotel charming and picturesque. Rooms not very big but modern and clean. The staff is very nice. Close to the center. I see it as a hotel more geared to young people.

My parents stayed in the "hotel" for 4 nights and I regret having booked it for them. The room was clean, but not to be considered as a double, as it was advertised (it only had a double bed, but the space was really limited. The wardrobe was a joke (a foldable one, probably from IKEA), the heating worked only a few hours during the day, thinking that people could get away with the electrical one provided, and I had to lend an extra blanket to my parents because they didn't have one at the reception, which is not even open until 12pm or 1pm. I had to wait five minutes before someone could come to show us around while we were waiting in the middle of the pub sorrounded by drunk customers and gamblers on slot machines. Yeah, ok it's a pub, but being Towels were changed after two days, replaced with brand new ones, still with price tags on (so I assume they haven't been washed before). Location is not even that great. Ok it's zone 1 but the area looks rough and it takes 20 minutes walk to get to the nearest station (or 10 minutes by bus) and then other 15 minutes to get to Oxford Circus, and in the night up to 50 minutes by bus from centra.

It was a lovely break and this hotel is well connected to the Centre of London so we had no problems at all and the staff is very friendly especially Daniel an Italian boy who helped us a lot. Thank you for the unforgettable:).

Great. The bar and hotel manager is fantastic. Sebastian opened the bar for me and my study abroad friends so we could enjoy our night after our flight. It is a fun atmosphere! great stay at a great price! Highly Recommended.

This Hotel offers excellent customer service from a friendly staff. Even after hours, I had a concern which was addressed immediately and resolved very quickly regarding my booking. I recommend this hotel as it's reasonably priced, clean, safe, and in a great location.

It is located in the perfect position to easily reach the centre of London. Connections are really good and reachable at walking distance. The place is quiet and clean, the staff is friendly. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean as well. I was totally and positively surprised to fing the fully-equipped kitchen for self-catering (this is no little thing in expensive London! ) plus the possibility to ask for optional room accessories (hairdrier and the electric converter I had forgotten at home! ). I got the perfect place to stay at a very cheap price, with also a traditional pub downstairs, which gave me a real taste of England without having to go far at night.

We went on a spontaneous budget trip to London and to be honest all we needed was a bed and a shower, we got this and a kitchen to use. The carpets are old, the bed was creeky and a bit short but there was a fridge, the bathrooms were failry newly refurbished and the kitchen was fully equipped. The cleanness of the kitchen was based on the cleanness of the guests but was fairly decent. There was however a bit of mold in the poorly ventilated bathrooms. This can easily be fixed a bit round or two of chlorine. I didn't mind staying here at all considering the price was so low and the neighbourhood was quiet (aparty for one night when all the drunks gathered around our window. All night. ) The help was superb though, very nice staff. They've prioritised the bathrooms which I think is a good call, but the carpets and bedrooms could easily be on their next to-do list.

Excellent experience, we booked them on a short notice and we were not disappointed with their service.

These hotel rooms have everything to like: ultra primitive, and most importantly, very loud: all night is operating and you can hear every step and every key, yet the aircraft to one hears a good part of the night. The hotel is located above a finished pubs with degenerate people. But the rooms are clean and for the money it is.
PS: the beer is cheap.
