Regrettably, I've yet to stay at this hotel, but I was fortunate to have breakfast at Céleste. The public rooms, restaurant and food culminated into an amazing feast for all your senses. Years ago, I had the pleasure to stay at The Dorchester, and it's very evident that the British know how to pay attention to detail. I'm certain the excellent staff at The Lanesborough are always trying to improve their guest's experience, it'll be interesting to see this evolution progress to even greater heights if I should be lucky enough to pay this hotel another visit in the future. Maybe as a guest in residence!

All I can say is wow… I went here for afternoon tea. I've been to many hotels for afternoon tea and I must say this is probably the best one I've been to. The whole experience from beginning to end was amazing. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty but it was the cakes and pastries that were outstanding. I highly recommend a visit.

Delighted and thankful with the excellent treatment of the hotel staff, even without having stayed there, they saw us so hurried on a day of rain and wind that they gave us an umbrella and helped us to get to Buckingham Palace. A great detail, thank you very much.

Beautiful hotel and I know some of the event rooms are lovely. That said, it is inappropriate for business events. They crowded us and the senior delegation into an unsuitably small room which made it uncomfortable for all attending.

Their restaurant Celeste is my absolute favourite French restaurant in London. The only “downside” could be that at lunch time it can be quite empty, which means slightly over-attentive staff. Bright airy room, crisp champagne and impeccable service and gastronomic food. Not to be missed!

Literally the best tea I've had in my life. The sandwiches, scones and treats were also both gorgeous and tasted great, especially the sandwiches. FLAWLESS performance from the staff, and the atmosphere with the piano music in the background was very calming. Basically, if you want to feel like you've suddenly become royalty, book a table here for some afternoon tea.

Before I was bearnapped in Tanzania I used to go with my owner/mummy finding it to be a quiet, relaxing, haven amid the frenzy Hyde Park Corner. I loved to nosh the the complimentary snacks served in three tired silverware. Staff is friendly and welcoming to teddy bears as well as humans. Recently my mummy attended with my mini-me (Mini Bearsac), and another teddy brother, Herbert. They sat in the ornate withdrawing room. I used to prefer the Library bar by the tinkering piano, especially when The Pianist played a jazzy version of teddy Bears Picnic for me!

Very nice bar and good service too. A range of interesting cocktail options, and a long must of rare spirits / wines. Snacks available too — the truffled nuts were a nice touch. Only downside is the price.

Outstanding There is a reason why the Lanesborough is one of the best hotels in London, if not the world. I had the pleasure of staying at the Lanesborough last Saturday. I have been lucky enough to stay in beautiful hotels in my life (the Ritz London, Ritz Dubai, Waldorf Astoria NYC, Four Seasons HK, the Peninsula Bangkok, Shangri La Singapore, Constance Seychelles, Mandarin Oriental etc. ) and I can genuinely say that my stay at the Lanesborough was outstanding. What a warm welcome. I stayed in a superb premium room, with lovely high ceiling. The food was sublime. Modern meets tradition with the super handy tablets to call your ever-so-perfect 24/7 butler (thank you Steven). And I love the fact that you don’t need a PhD to switch on/off the lights (you know what I am talking about! ). Overall absolutely sublime. It feels like home. Can’t wait going back.

Divine afternoon tea at the Michelin-starred Celeste. Amazing place with a live pianist and Excellent staff. We tried the tasting menu with matching wine approx 1 year ago and what can I say… it was just top notch! Highly recommend.

Lived a few days in Lejnsboro after reconstruction. Amazing Hotel! Spacious rooms with automatic control of all functions, TV-picture, excellent fast elevator, lovely lounge with fresh designer bouquets. And, unlike many London fives, the freshness in everything is felt. From the extra pluses-very pleasant and helpful concierge and butler, my favorite cigar room in the open air, great French restaurants the best location in the center. I recommend to all tourists this hotel, focusing on their frequent stays in London.

I never knew racism was so apparent in high class hotels in the UK until I visited this hotel if your from sub-saharan heritage please do not go to this hotel as you'll not be welcomed, as soon as I walked into to the hotel to check in I was challenged like I was walking into a literary told I have the wrong hotel getting over been surrounded by old security guards this and some very odd questions I finally checked — in. During my 3days stay I was subjected to some of the most racist and none complying hotel rules I have ever seen I'm black I have a lot of Afro friend too whom were Holted by security and given no privacy or respect oi, is not a common title given to any man told they also have the wrong hotel told to wait outside while they was trying to contact me until I came out to collect them. Has the waiting area off the hotel and lobby was only for residence and when I came to collect them I was asked to show identification that I was staying at the hotel the manger was rude and I understand where is team take's their lead would like to see if he knows the definition of hotel dressing in pampas clothing with no manners does not constitute to a well turned out staff. Must add that the door man was the only staff member that was decently composed.

Attending a formal wedding function here was the highlight of my stay in London. I brought a special Scandinavian wedding cake & asked if I might drop it off that morning (and re-stack the layers separated for transport across the Atlantic), and was touched to hear from Amil (sp? ) that he spoke to the chef who would be "honored" to take care of it all for me! Which they did and beautifully! Amil also ensured I received my packing bags back in their entirety, neatly folded. He and the entire staff made all in attendance feel as though we were royalty itself: White glove service, anticipating every need — whether actual, expressed, or divined, remembering who had what in which glass, none ever left to empty… Wonderful people who seemed like friends, and kept me updated on the surprise cake situation, including a private previewing! I was overjoyed at the work done on my behalf to make the reveal, and the entire transportation of it all on 2 planes, 3 trains, and a taxi — worth while! And to hear Amil was to be a first-time dad at any moment, he exuded joy in everything he did for others! He certainly is a fine and exemplary representation of this wonderful, historic & elegant establishment! Three Cheers!

We had afternoon tea here. It was delightful. Very tasty, lovely decor, nice staff. We sat and enjoyed for a long time.

The Garden Room is probably the best cigar bar in London. They have an excellent selection of spirits, wine and cigars served in elegant surroundings by attentive staff.

Held a social event here, and it was excellent. The staff were incredibly helpful and the food was magnificent. The hotel is stunning and the facilities were well up to scratch. Would definitely recommend it as a high end venue.

Berry polished and attentive staff. Finest food, and s rare level of ambience. Like being in a modern version of traditional style and tranquillity.

Went for afternoon tea — superb atmosphere. Excellent selection of teas and plenty of polite staff to assist. Quality of the tea and food was excellent, and the price wasn't too bad. Would recommend to anybody.

Very late evening. We'd had a wonderful night so far. Needed to end with one more drink to celebrate one friend going home to Oz and my son being over from France. Bars closed. Ritz closed. Wolsey closed. Asked the very nice chap on the door of the Lanes and had a very warm welcome. Invited in to the bar. Quickly ascertained we were not guests but were treated very, very well indeed. Wonderful cocktails. Superb service. All in all an absolutely wonderful place and one we shall continue to visit for a long time to come.

High tea at the Lanesborough is absolutely stunning. A beautiful setting, delicious food, and a super choice of teas and cocktails. An unforgettable experience.

Had the best experience here from the moment we walked in till it was time to check out. They even treated my little dog as a vip. The food is fantastic and the staff were very friendly and approachable. Being in Hyde park meant it was super close to pretty much everywhere of interest in London. If you are looking for a sign of which hotel to go for… this is it :)

I vist the bar/cigar lounge ever now and then on special occasions. The venue is simply breathtaking. It exudes elegance, the decor is effortlessly classy and extremely well maintained. This is not a cheap place to go, but if you want somewhere special to visit once in while for drinks or otherwise — this is the place.

Old-school, great service with cozy, recently refurbished rooms. Can't find a classier hotel in London and the limited number of rooms maintains an exclusive feeling.

When I arrived at the hotel I was not greeted by any of the staff members or any other time I left for a shopping trip and returned. Moreover a lady tonight waiting in the lobby was physically escorted out without any prior warnings. If you're not a tipper, you're not welcome! The staff quality is very poor and I for one will not be returning.

You would generally not want to be found in a hotel bar, because it usually leaves much to be desired. Totally not the case with Library Bar. The bar was so cozy and refined and not too busy, even on a Saturday. Every table felt intimate and service was impeccable. Not to mention that there was a live piano player when we were there to maintain the ambiance. The drinks aren't cheap but there are plenty of places that have £15 cocktails that don't have the ambiance, service and free snacks that the Library Bar has.

London can boast around 100 5-star hotels, of these, a dozen or so including The Dorchester, The Savoy, The Ritz, Claridge’s and The Lanesborough fall into the category of ‘Grande Dame’ hotel. Nowhere other than perhaps Paris does ‘Grand Dame’ as well as London. Deciding which of them is best really comes down to personal taste; they are all first-rate hotels and people will have their personal favourites for a variety of reasons. Mine is the 93 room Lanesborough. The second Viscount Lanesborough built Lanesborough House in 1719 in what was then open countryside to the west of London. In 1733 the building was rented to a group of hospital governors who noted that the clean fresh air of Knightsbridge would benefit their patients. Built on the same site, the current building dates back to 1827 and was designed by architect William Wilkins, who also designed the National Gallery. It remained St George's Hospital until the 1980s. The original 19th century deal stipulated that the owner’s family could buy back the property at the original price should it ever cease to be a hospital, thus allowing the the sixth Duke of Westminster to buy it back for just £6, 000. Opened as a hotel in 1991, The Lanesborough hasn’t been around as long as many of the Grand Dames and perhaps because of this, while being every bit as luxurious, seems more welcoming than some of the others.

Scandalous rénovation — they Turned one of London iconic hôtel into the équivalent of the ramada in in Mumbai — horrible red carpet, Gold plated lion Heads everywhere, cigar bar worthy of a bad soprano episode etc… Wait for the ladies of the Night to invade the place and you could be in dubai — just plain tacky — a Shame Will try the restaurants Soon as I live next door so hopefully that will be better but designers should be shot.

Gorgeous tea in amazing surroundings, we were looked after by friendly and dedicated staff. Can't wait for the next time!

An iconic and indispensable property in London. The service is perfect and the decoration is sublime. This is one of the most beautiful hotels in the world. The restaurant is exceptional.

The hotel is located in the central part of Knightsbridge opposite Hyde Park Corner. Not far from here to one of the most exclusive shopping districts of Sloane Street, where attractions include luxury department store Harvey Nichols. Over the years Lanesborough Hotel nurtured and strengthened its reputation, which is confirmed by numerous awards, including It was recognized in the category of Best Location in the UK by Conde Nast Traveller "Worlds' Best Hotels" and is located on the Gold List 2011. The hotel has 90 rooms, of which 43 represent stylized suites. Most of the furniture is made by hand, in order to faithfully reflect the English rooms from 1820.

Iconic British feel this hotel is as sophisticated as its location. Their afternoon tea is to die for, with a seazonal selection os sandwhiches, cakes and othrer treats as well as a Fantastic selection of fine tea.

This grande dame of london hotels is in urgent need of a face lift. Her tattered wares are evident from the entrance through to the suites. Recently joined the spg program which could add some extra value for some but still requiring some major bottox.

When we visit London we stay at the Lanesborough. For many years now this has been our hotel of choice, we tried and tested The Ritz, The Savoy, The Dorchester and several others before finding the Lanesborough. The service and standards have never moved they are always amazing. The entire team make you feel as though you have just arrived home. If you need anything they will do their best to deliver. From theatre tickets, site tours, and restaurant bookings in the most difficult places they will always get you in. Only once have they not succeeded to delivery 100%, apparently visiting the Chelsea Flower show on the Queens opening day was a request to far but we visited the sold out event the very next day. Booked our next stay for the end of November.

Let me tell you what: The Lanesborough, which is listed in some places as literally "the most expensive hotel in London"—which is the most expensive city in the Western World, so you can only imagine—is remarkable. Forget the rock stars, politicians, and other famous people who stay there. Forget that the house restaurant at The Lanesborough received its first Michelin star in under a year, which is unheard of. Forget how beautiful the rooms and the rest of the facility are. The Lanesborough is simply as close to perfect as a hotel can be, and that's about the people. Yes, it IS expensive; and at the height of tourist season just weeks before London is to host the Olympic Games even more so. But if you are the kind of traveler who believes in going all out when you're away, there simply is no reason to look elsewhere. Period. When you're at the Lanesborough you feel like you're at home—and a lovely home it is. Thanks for a wonderful few days, Lanesborough!
