Lovely rooms friendly staff very enjoyable stay.

Friendly staff, rooms are clean and comfortable. My bed was comfortable. Easy walk to Paddington Station. Would definitely stay again.

It is the best hotel we have stay in and we go back for a week every year.

Excellent central location. Good sized, clean rooms. Friendly helpful staff.
Only disappointment was breakfast. Cooked breakfast had little choice for vegetarian and was not very hot.

The neighborhood has nothing good for foodies. No restaurants worth going to close by. Dirty dirty room… under the bed there was a used condom /wrapper. Plus side, they let us borrow a fan bc the room had no ac and was hot. Also it’s tiny and the carpets dirty. Please clean under the beds! Wish I could get some money back… not at all worth 160 pounds! Stay at a cheap motel.

The room was very big (which was pleasantly surprising compared to most London hotels). The overall experience was very good as well. The beds were big and comfortable. The only problem we had was the sink was leaking to the floor a bit, so there were a lot of water on the floor bath time. However we just stayed one night, so it did not bother us very much.

Unfortunately a little too loud there directly on busy road. Otherwise good location breakfast quite okay.

I was surprised by the high ratings this had on travel sites. My room was tiny and very hard to get air circulation in the heat. The shower was so small that I could barely fit in it. But it was clean and the breakfast was above average (and the breakfast room was air conditioned! ) and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would give it 3 stars, but given how affordable it was and how great the location is (super close to Paddington Station), it was a good value, so that merits a 4th star.

Room was adequate but nothing special. The windows didn't close properly, the taps were very tenpremental so we all got very wet. The bathroom could have been slot cleaner too. Breakfast was okay however the yea was vile and the cooked breakfast not much better.

Ok hotel for the area where hotels get away with small rooms, no AC, sketchy safety code compliance, etc. Just because it is London. Not sure you can do better without paying double. The free breakfast is pretty great, excellent service, good and healthy choices, and a super clean eating area. We were there during a rare London hear wave. Our room was very hot. Not sure if other hotels would have AC that works. Let know if you find a better Hotel in the area. You may have trouble.

We stayed 2 times this past May. We booked directly and saved a bit. We had the quad room that had two separate rooms for our 4 adults travelers. The American king size bed was great surprise in one room. Two twin beds in the other. It was very clean, pleasant accommodating staff and in a great location for traveling around London. The English breakfast that was included was perfect. Andrienne the breakfast server was very cheerful and deserves a special recognition. Hope to come back soon!

Very tiny room just about big enough for single bed, shower to small to get into. Good location, clean room, good breakfast. Overall, l might stay again, but in a bigger room.

Great choice, ideal location to discover London.

We stayed at the Darlington for 7 days in March 2018. The room was clean and comfortable. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Adrianne (? ) in the breakfast room deserves special mention. The hotel is in a good location close to transit and restaurants. We would return again and recommend it to others (we already have).

Breakfast is delicious is now done, the toilet has been modified new and clean, but the room carpet, curtains, beds, tables, looks like 20 years ago the old things.

This hotel gives great value for the money. The breakfast itself is worth the stay. The full English is fabulous, and cooked at order. So everything is served fresh, plus a full buffet of continental style foods. And the service from the staff is something you normally find in fare more expensive hotels. Three minute walk to the Paddington gives quick and easy access to all of London.

Good hotel, great location especially for those who fly on Heathrow thanks to the proximity to Paddington. Small room and bathroom but for short trips it's not a problem. Clean.

Family Rooms 4 people, very clean and spacious, very attentive staff.

Great value hotel. Loved the breakfast. Rooms and shower a bit small, but that is to be expected in old houses turned into small hotels. Small fridge appreciated. No air condition so hot in the summer I'm sure.

Good value hotel close to Paddington station.

Because the living is the big suite, has the living room, the room, the bathroom, is very convenient in the urban area. The service staff are very friendly, the only disadvantage is to continue not water supply.

Let me start at the top… the breakfast room staff were exceptionally upbeat and efficient. For four of the five mornings we had breakfast, Adrienne and Nicoletta were hardworking, attentive, with lovely smiles and a demeanor that helped us start the day with a smile responsive to theirs. That being said, the breakfast itself was adequate. All the rest — the room, its cleanliness — were perfectly fine but far from grand. It is very convenient to Paddington Station and Hyde Park, a nice combination. There are two things that could be improved upon without too much effort and expense. The shampoo/conditioner is awful and the shower head that should allow one to rinse one's hair thoroughly, doesn't. I understand the need to conserve water, but there should be an adjustment that allows for a strong, rinsing spray.

This is the first time I ever write on check-in a review. Today was a very hot day 32 degree Celsius outside and on check-in 31 degree Celsius in the room. No problem at all, there was an air-condition mounted on the wall and so I optimistically turned on the plug and operated the old wall mounted control — nothing happened, so I headed down to the reception to ask how to turn on the a/c. First I was told there is none in the rooms and when I insisted that there is one mounted at the wall, the lady checked my room number and said that this one is an extra of 15 British Pounds that will be added to my room bill. I thought she was joking, but she was not. After I had to agree on the extra payment, I was handed the remote and now the room cools nicely. The room rate was 154 GBP, so no super cheap bargain. And the french double bed is way smaller than the usual 140cm… For me the first real bad experience in London ever, despite the good Tripadvisor ratings (which usually always got me good places to stay).

Great hotel. Intimate, quiet. Good service, basic English breakfast, nice clean rooms and a comfortable location. Public transportation to almost any corner of London and beyond. I'd recommend.

The room was awesome. We booked a family room, and it has 2 separate bedrooms, so I don't have to share with my parents. The location is amazing. Very peaceful and relatively Quiet, with great access to the tube. They also offer a full cooked breakfast, which is very rare in England, and I great addition.

Clean, simple and straightforward. Very good value and well run. I have been staying here regularly for two years and it is very consistent. Quiet, not too hot, not too cold and a good breakfast. Perhaps most importantly for me as a regular visitor, they have great staff and good staff retention which means you get a warm welcome from a familiar face. A real home from home.

Sadly upon arrival the hotel we found it not to be the same as it is shown on the website. Our room is stuffy, the bathroom is a nightmare especially for my tall husband who nearly hits his head every time he goes to the toilet addingThe toilet is upstairs in a landing (go figure) and the stairs to the toilet are also a nightmare as the steps are very narrow and have metal strips which hurt the bare feet trying to get up them. You nearly need to put shoes during the night just to go to the loo so you don't hurt your feet.
The one towel allowance per customer isn't great as I needed to wash my hair and had to use my husbands towel for my hair. Any extra towels and a face washer I had to pay for which is just unheard of. I have travelled extensively and never come across this before.
Then the noise : — They were so loud in the room above us we thought the roof would come down as they sounded like a herd of elephants and during the night we heard every move they made and opening of drawers etc so interrupted sleep was had.
Then the room next to us we heard them in the shower which I might add went on for ages and continuously running water.
The breakfast was nice which was good and it is in a good location which are positives.
Overall I was and am hugely disappointed as I booked the hotel based on reviews but sadly it didn't live up to the days reviews.

Good value for money, family room with 2 rooms sepaeate.

The Sussex Gardens street, paddington Station, walk three to five minutes, or pretty close. Room not big, not new, but very clean, service also also good. This is Hotel street, the same house along the street, a long slip, with each hotel only occupied a little, a bit reminiscent of Sirius, from a small crack in a pop out feeling.

My single room and the connected wet cell were really tiny. Good Breakfast and helpful staff.

We have stayed at the Darlington twice, each time we had a nice, spacious, quiet and very clean room. The staff were very professional and helpfull. The location is great with Lancaster Gate and Paddington almost on the doorstep. I would recommend the Darlington to anyone.

A great place for business.

Hotel staff was very kind and professional. The douple room I stayed in was big and clean. Some noises came from the upper floors (the floors creaked) but especially the courtyard was calm and at nights there was very little noise from traffic. The location of the hotel is perfect if your not afraid of a little walking.
