Dover Castle Hostel Hostel

If you need somewhere to stay for a couple of nights on a limited budget whilst in London and you don't mind people having a good time then I'd recommend it. The bar adjacent to it is exceptionally cheap and they often have music. It's a great atmosphere in the evenings with a cool vibe.

Best packing trip of my life. We stayed in Dover Castle, loved everybit of it. The Dorms were clean and people are quite friendly here. Stayed here for 3 nights. I is in close proximity to the Thames and London Bridge. Over all it was a good experience.

Good value for money. Great location. Friendly night reception. Breakfast free as well. I would recommend to book early. Towels and other amenities are free to use with deposit.

I didn't like it at all. The place is so warm, the rooms are so so small, non-ventilated, smell bad… the living room is not a well place to stay because always smells bad… really bad. The hostel is like a sauna in summers, is very suffocating. The good thing are the receptionists, they are very nice. The breakfast is not too bad at all, but I expected another kind of (as I red in some opinions before). The Wi-Fi doesn't work! It was really frustrating trying to connect and not being able to. In resume: is not a good place to stay in, even for the "cheap" price!

Fernando would not give a duvet after some idiot put put the duvet I had in the dryer and I now have no duvet. He gave me a clean duvet sheet and told me it was a hot day. The weather drops to 15 degrees at night do I am cold and he was very rude to me. Note; this is not the Dover castle hostel as the staff are great, but no duvet at the cricketers takes the piss.

Staff is great and the location is fairly central, also conveniently located near Borough Station. Building is old but that's part of the charm. Certain guests seem to be middle-aged men and not genuine travellers. They give off a creepy vibe but that's the only downside to this place. Breakfast is free for guests and really good.

Spent one night here on a May weekend night as a solo traveller. This hostel offers spacious rooms, with bunk beds, and no sound insulation. The bar on the ground floor played music till 3am, which could be heard, and felt in the rooms above. Staff where friendly, and eager to make a great impression but are let down by the building which needs refurbishment. To become 5 star this venue could: — Deal with sound proofing between the bar and rooms above. — Replace mattresses on bunk beds with new ones — dodgy springs, and stains on the mattress of the bunk above you. — Provide more charging points or sockets in rooms. 2 in a room of 10 people doesn't make for easy charging of digital devices, and tech. — Upgrade the lower ground reception's facilities to include a second lounge, or chill out space. — Offer a cooked breakfast, or gluten free options.

For its location it serves well priced beer, as it's also a hostel there's an unusual crowd for where it is. I only visited the bar, which is small and I imagine could get quite snug in warmer weather. Would meet the lads there for more beers, but probably wouldn't take the missus on a date night.

Maybe the staff should have a better selection of whom to accept at the hostel.

Was 10 nights there for €110. People who want to visit London and are only there for sleeping is enough. It is located above a bar which you will not get to sleep with. Very central location and nice staff.

Dirty. Stinks. Damp. The shower cubicles are not comfortable. The toilets are constantly clogged and because of this there is a stink on the floors. All the rooms are small, not comfortable. You feel not in London, but somewhere in Ryazan in the most successful dorm.

At first sight the hostel is so-so. But in general not bad. The main plus is the location. Practically in the center on the South Shore.

Horrible Internet, never connected, the place has few bathrooms for all people. The location is good and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Perfect young hostel. Amazing pub in the ground floor. Breakfast better than expected.

One day, two days or a week in London… This could be your best budget hotel to go… Located near a subway, and almost in the London city centre. Shard tower is half a mile from this place… The bar is too good, and I had been to it on two night. Mostly young crowd, and the ambience is far good to experience…, Don't expect luxury! I went to just sleep here for a night but the bar and lockers are an added advantage for my stay here.

The hostel is normal with a lot of things to improve. But worst of all is the noise level you have at night, until you close the bar you hear the music as if the speakers were inside the room.
It is not advisable if the idea is to rest and take advantage of the day.

Old and dirty. Bed really uncomfortable. 3 floors, no lift. Living room/kitchen really small, dark and stinky. Painting around won't hide how old is the build. I had some troubles with my luggage, I found it dirty of a white powder (work in progres). At least move my luggage away from the area you are working. Good position, close to Mercato Metropolitano, Tower Bridge, London Bridge, Borough market. It doesn't worth the money.

A great pub with reasonable prices. Mainly a student bar, calm during the day and lively in the Friday, Saturday evenings. Pool table, board games and delivery pizza.

Went as the final destination to a pub crawl. Decent prices for drinks, great atmosphere and furnishings. Toilets could be better.

Great location right next to the train station, fairly loud but what's to expect when it's located over a bar, rooms were fairly clean and the staff was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. Definitely worth it if you don't mind staying awake a bit later.

I didn't expect much since it's a hostel, but there is definitely room for improvement. The windows can open just a tiny bit, which makes 12-bed dormitory room almost unbearable to stay as there's no air. The facilities could have been cleaner. The breakfast is in a pub, so it's served with the beer odor and the options you have for the breakfast make it more like a refreshment before you head off to proper breakfast. The location is great though, quite central and with good connections. Hence the star. Otherwise, I don't think I'll be coming back.

First of all, let me just clarify that we didn't expect a luxury resort, given that this is by far the cheapest place around, also a hostel, no surprises there. However, during the full 2 nights of our stay, there was a lingering vomit smell on the corridor which apparently nobody cared to clean up, even though it was written on a piece of paper on the wall that the public areas are cleaned daily. This we even found normal as most people go to party and this happens very often. The other thing was the size of the room, we were in one of their 4 persons dormitories, this meant 2 bunkbeds next to each other and approximately 4 square meters extra space where the door opened, also the wall was coming off at one place but still this didn't bother us so much, we hadn't come to stay in the room anyway. I don't think I'd even have written a review about this if it wasn't for the fact that we are fairly sure our credit card details have been stolen here. I really don't think this was on purpose, the staff is really nice and helpful, and having an infected computer may not be obvious to them. All in all, the quality is what you would expect for the price you pay, but watch out for your credit cards!

Love this place. Some great memories have been forged here! Defo recommend. Frequented heavily by GKT students.

It's an older build but for what you paid it's pretty good. The only time I stayed in the hostel was when I was sleeping and showering. It has a full kitchen and living room as well. Free breakfast.

Esta próximo a una parada de metro y de autobús. Las habitaciones son compartidas y no estan mal. Los baños son normales, la pega es que la ducha de nuestra planta era doble pero las duchas de las otras creo que eran individuales. Es barato y el desayuno está incluido. Por la noche las cervezas y las copas son asequibles en comparación con otros sitios de Londres.

Nice staff, awesome pub, very good location, close to the Tube. Could use more showers, but what they did have was very clean.

Great quality/price ratio! The matress, duvet and pillow were very confortable and the free breakfast was pleasant. The kitchen wasn't worth much and it was mostly used for storage of food in the fridge and as a hang out/pre gaming spot. Reception was very nice. Showers and toilets in good condition. The only problem is the light that comes in the room and the noise since you NEED to leave the windows open in the summer. Just bring a blindfold and some earplugs and you should be fine.

The hostel really needs maintenance. A few improvements could make the experience a lot better. However the staff is kind and helpful.

The hostel pub closes at 2am so there is a lot of noise when you go to sleep. Drunk guests all the time. There is just one shower and two toilets per floor (always busy and dirty). Poor breakfast, and horrible coffee, just toasts and cereals. No security at all, the front door is usually opened and the room lock was no working properly. Nice staff but unable to solve any problem.

Buenisimos employees Nosnatendieron always with a very helpful smile, should improve the cleanliness of the hallways the second level remained with bad smell.

Its a very realexed place and is well priced for the area. There is seating and plenty of space even when it's full on student nights or for football games. The staff are friendly and they have board games.

Great value for money! Showed all the football on split screens, nice vibes, good pool table, great value drinks.

Good place to go on a Friday night. Always has a selection of sports on if the company you are with isn't the best. Drink prices not too bad either.

Great accommodation. Good Wi-Fi. Adequate showers. Nice lounge/kitchen area. Nearby Underground station and bus routes.

Super-friendly staff, the rooms and the cleaning very well. The breakfast is good, but it was basic (bread, jam, milk, coffee and cereal). The only problem is that there are few bathrooms for the amount of people, but you can not expect much with such good prices. To spend a couple of nights, is more than good. The bar downstairs is very cheap for drink some beers, and from the second floor don't hear all the noise.

Great place as a budget hostel. Beds were very comfy. Rooms were warm. Breakfast was included and was good. Very reasonably priced.

It only has a problem with the showers which are very small. But the place is great.

It is what it is. A blast to stay there. If you want to be treated like cotton wool then stay somewhere else. If you are in London and up for a rough and tumble pub/club atmosphere and lots of horseplay then stay here. If you want to drink tea and eat crumpets, go knock on the Queens door.
