My girlfriend and I stayed at Tommyfield for two nights this weekend, it was a great stay…lovely room, really comfortable bed and an amazing shower!
The breakfast was really good and we also had an awesome Sunday roast!
It was raining heavily on Sunday morning so the landlady found us an umbrella for our walk in to the city centre!

The pub is in a great location in Vauxhall. Love the little touches on the room like the Nespresso machine, bottles of water and orange juice, and the fact that you get 50% off breakfast in the pub, it's an absolute winner.
Bedrooms are individually styled, with comfortable beds, pillows and a safe for your valuables.
Would definitely recommend a stay here. Good value, friendly staff and pub that serves excellent food at a decent price too!

Great food and plentiful prosecco.

We went their for a sunday roast, food was amazing but not great child seating area. They sat us in a small table and could of tried to accomadate us better. The service was extra slow and food took ages to come. They mixed our order at first with another table. Also waiter removed my friends daughters chair without asking. It's such a shame because we loved the food but because of service it let us all down.

I ordered a baked Camembert for 9.50. It came through on my monzo as 11.50. I brought this up with the staff that served me, and he refused me a refund, saying that this is the price now and nothing could be done. However, having worked in retail and catering for some time I know that this does not adhere to trading standards. It is false advertising. How can we tryst the prices if they are subject to change on a whim?

UPDATE: Credit where it’s due. Manager has since emailed me and apologised, gave more background to the situation on the day, and has had a word with the waiter in particular. Really classy response and has made all the difference. Spectacularly rude service today. Was seated by myself at a small table that was free when I arrived just after midday. Settled down for a Sunday brunch and a Prosecco or two… At 12.45pm, waiter comes over and, without saying a word to me, dumps town a Reserved at 1pm tag. Doesn’t say anything about needing the table back. Doesn’t ask if I had plans to stay longer (which I did) ; just shoves it down and walks off. Complete service fail. Mention it to a colleague who brushes it off with, “Oh I’m sure he had no bad intentions. ” A few minutes later someone else comes up and says they’d have always found another table for me. How about finding one for the other people who hadn’t shown up yet? I’d just been telling my partner how great the brunch was and that we should check it out together some time. Not feeling like we will now.

Pleasant enough setting, but the “bottomless” brunch was a serious let down. I visited in a group of 10 friends and I can only describe this as false advertising. The service was slow, and we were on several occasions refused drinks, despite the fact that nobody at the table acted in a disorderly fashion — we ordered pleasantly, with a please and a thank you on every occasion. The manager then cut our service short, and argued with us when we asked why our experience had been so poor. I wholeheartedly DO NOT RECOMMEND this establishment for “bottomless” brunch. The food was nice.

Very poor experience this evening. One meal was forgotten on service, and by the time it arrived the rest of the party had finished. We had one round of drinks at the start of the meal, and when being asked if we would like a second (towards the end of the meal) we declined. We where then offered desert, ordered one pudding, and suddenly another round of drinks arrived from the same server and assumed these were as an apology for the missed meal. On arrival of the bill the entire food bill plus two rounds of drinks where included. When querying why we had two rounds of drinks, the server and his manager accused us of lying and claimed we had ordered the second round. While we knew we could be at fault for not questioning the second round, to be told we requested them when we had not *and* told “maybe next time you should question drinks arriving at the table” was very rude. Very poor, and made to feel like liers. Not left a great impression on the in laws and we won’t be returning.

This was a short visit. I was too late for lunch and too early for supper, so I had a really refreshing lemonade/ lime with mint £2.75p. Glass was a bit small. With a non-alcoholic drink like this you can afford to be a bit more generous. But so you know, it was good. Staff OK, and in general this is a nice clean place. Intimate. The toilets were clean, but just not very nice, rustic no longer charms me. Would love to see some really lovely bathroom facilities that my disabled friends can also use. Three stars for service, lost 2 star's due to the bathroom facilities and the small glass.

Great Kennington pub. Good beer and great staff. Coping well with the national CO2 shortage! The rugby is on, Aus vs Ire. What more could you want? Enjoyed my pint.

Loved this place! Only stayed one night but it was a fantastic experience. Prices are very reasonable for this area. Trains are easy distance or if you prefer walking like myself it is a great location to set off from. The food was brilliant and the selection of beers was perfect!

Disappointing overall with some excellent parts. Service was not great (slow. ) Cheesy peas and leeks were incredible, as were the Yorkshire's. Cauliflower cheese was disappointing and overpriced for the portion (but friendly waiter did listen to feedback. ) Nice atmosphere and will come back.

Had a great stay and the staff were lovely, I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Two good beers and two appetizers not bad.
Pale Ale and Helles of the Camden Town brewery accompanied by rabbit ham with gherkins sauce and chicken croquettes.
The waiters really nice and nice.

Good local pub — clean, friendly & welcoming. The food is decent & 2-4-1 if you have a taste card. They have a really good quiz every Tuesday. I've also hired out the upstairs for a birthday party — the team were professional and answered all my questions. Would recommend.

Good variety of lunch options available, including daily specials. This is Sausage and Creamy Mash with Gravy. The Sausages are nice and smooth inside with a sprinkling of herbs. They tasted great and there was no grizzle in sight. They have a good drinks menu also. I had the Fentimans Ginger Beer. (Other brands of Ginger beer were available also).

Amazing Sunday roast and very nice steak pie! The food was a lot and so good! Fast service. Only issue is when you arrive inside the place, there is such a weird toilet smell going around the floor area. Maybe a daily issue, but once this is fixed the place is just great! We will be back!

One of the best Sunday Roasts I’ve had in London. Absolutely get the chicken. Nice atmosphere, servers are nice, but a little slow so might have to wait, but worth it. Just go, have a pint and chill! Enjoy!

Love this pub. The food is amazing. The comedy club is a weirdly wonderful cult.

Followed by the beetroot wellington which was pretty abismal. Felt like the chef had never tasted it, the flavours were confused and overwhelmed by cloves. The cauliflower puree was liquid and luke warm. Service wasn't great but the waiter was cute.

Dined here in early December 2017 with guests staying overnight in the guest house/hotel. Food was very underwhelming. Went for an early traditional Christmas dinner — big mistake. It was pretty dire! I mentioned it to the waitress as she cleared the half eaten plates. She just giggled — I don't think English was her mother tongue! My co-diners were slightly more impressed with their respective dishes but none of us would rush back. Price/quality ratio is very poor but 50% off food for hotel guests took the sting out of the tail. Service was willing but inept and unpolished.

Hired The Master Room upstairs at The Tommyfield. Good venue for bday party — low cost and flexible space, with friendly staff, nice food and good selection of drinks. Manager even gave us some complimentary wine. Only reason it wasn't 5* is a speaker above the bar had a loose connection and kept cutting out… making all the other speakers cut out too. The guy behind the bar knew about the issue as it was recurring. The only way to solve it was hold the speaker in place while stood on a chair, so instead we ended up keeping the music lower than we'd like (and all via one speaker so the dodgy one wasn't rocked). If they fix the speaker, I'd definitely hire the space again and recommend to others as well.

Love coming to the tommyfield, fantastic atmosphere and the food is always a real treat. Thoroughly recommend the pies and baked Camembert.

Great food, good service. We hired the Master Room upstairs for a Christmas lunch, it was perfect for our needs and Lucas our bartender was brilliant.

Lovely food and fantastic atmosphere. On Tuesday nights there is a pub quiz which is good fun!

We had the Baked Camembert with sweet potato fries and bread. It was the perfect sharing plate. We loved the atmosphere, wait staff and ambiance of the entire place. If it had been appropriate we would have asked for a copy of the playlist too.

Great pub but… sometimes overzealous management. We were asked to leave for spilling a drink. Have revised rating downwards…

Great Sunday Beef Roast. I added a side of creamed leaks too. Very good. Service was good too. Nice selection of veggies — roasted potatoes, carrots, parsnips, cabbage.

Great home cooked pies with good hearty gravy, something that is often difficult to come by in London. I will have to check out the comedy night on Thursday sometime in the future. Serves Meantime ales.

Great comedy club but pick your meal carefully — the Edinburgh previews were great value at £8 each incl. Booking fees to see Danny Bhoy and Nick Helm, plus the regular compere rwally managed to get thw audoence going. We also stopped in for dinner and a drink beforehand and the pies (one wild boar, and the other steak and ale) were big and delicious. Oddly the sides were distinctly average — dried out chips and mash that seemed to be leftover from the Sunday roast. The desserts were also a mixed bag — a hefty slice of homemade banoffee pie was rather tasty but the sticky toffee pudding was a reheated tray sponge with an unwelcome amount of ginger and caramel sauce instead of toffee (and not even enough of it in the bowl to boot). Go for the comedy club and a drink but pick carefully from the menu.

Great food, good selection of beers — perfect for watching big rugby fixtures too.

Honey & mustard sausages — yummy, great selection of drinks, food menu. Lovely atmosphere, polite & friendly staff — Oliver is top of our list.

Good food here, I had duck leg very moister and my boyfriend have fish cake was very nice, in the end we got the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, brownie was nice soft and warm, melt in my mouth with ice cream. The staff here also friendly, we have great time here.

Fantastic accommodation and food. We stayed for two nights and were at a function in Tommyfield on the Saturday night. Staff gave the place a home from home feel without being overbearing (special shout out to the lovely Oliver who put up with the 30th & 50th snennanigans with aplomb! ) Also sampled breakfast and lunch — absolutely top notch! Will be back soon x.

Food was okay. Quite nice. I had the lamb which seemed to be jumbled — the sides did. It compliment each other at all (spiced lentils, aubergine and potatoes). Service was good, bar was busy but not much atmosphere. Especially on quiz night (felt odd as pub vs restaurant vibe).

Great building and the room was really nicely fitted out. All Completely spoilt by the manager of the bar closing 1/2 an hour early and refusing to let us put some drinks and a bottle of water on our room, I wouldn't mind but the guy stood at the bar next to us with a full pint had clearly just been served before we arrived and there were other customers still about. Pretty much made us feel unwanted and a nuisance for asking what in any other hotel is a simple and very common request. Why publicise hours of trade and then ignore them? In short this is not a hotel, it's a pub/restaurant with a few quirky rooms over it that doesn't seem to care about customer service.
If you want a proper hotel I'd keep looking.

A good place to watch football and get some reasonably-priced, largely traditional English grub. The bar staff can be a little slow off the mark if you just want a drink without food though.

Nice local boozer. Good wine selection and lovely burgers. You can hire the nice room upstairs, too.

The Tommy field takes up a corner position in Kennington. It's modern green and grey exterior provides a neutral background to the delicious food from its gastropub like offering. Dining here with a friend, I found service was a little intrusive almost to the point of being rude. I felt that having requested a table, we where a burden on the service team. Despite this the food was delicious and well prepared. They offer a range of traditional dishes with a skew towards meat eaters rather than vegetarians. In addition to the menu, they also have an extensive specials board (which repeats most of the menu). I would recommend this venue for groups, because of the service we received. I don't think that groups would mind just as much of the service was as focused on getting us out of the restaurant. There's a well stocked bar, but requesting a few popular products I noticed the prices where significantly higher than I had expected for the area. Try here if your a group, and your looking for a carnivorous meal. Vegetarians and couples may be disappointed.

A good local friday night spot — not really my decor though.

The service was fine, if a bit slow,. It was the food that was a letdown. The chicken and ham hock terrine was only just palatable, and my steak (slightly over cooked) had so much fat and gristle that I still had loads left when I'd eaten the nice bits. Chips tasted like roasties that come on school dinners. Dessert — crumble — was nice and our private room was very cosy and sccommodating with a great barman, so no complaints on that front at least!

Fantastic meal, great service, friendly, attentive, efficient and good value. Chicken and leek pie served with Nash and greens and a jug of brown gravy (yes, chicken is a white meat but who cares when result is so delicious). Will come again. They have a separate bar menu which looks good too. Offer full menu (modern British) with a big specials board including lots of pies and burgers available too.

Love this place. Weather it's just in a of a quick drink or for spending a Sunday afternoon. Great bar that serves great food. The comedy nights here in the room above the bar are the stuff of legend. Maybe London's best kept secret.

Highly recommended. For pub food, Tommyfield is one of the better pubs. Awesome burgers, great steaks, amazing pies and other stuff that I can't remember. Expect to pay £10-15 for your meal.

Food was kinda eugh. Burger came out with mushy, sludgy, red middle. Sent it back, but my appetite was gone. At 13 quid the only thing it had to justify it's price was the brioche bun, really twice what it was worth. Chips were ok, but over salted. House wine was OK. My companion thought the fish was nice. Updated, don't know if was related, but just found out she puked that afternoon. I wasn't sick myself, so it's probably not to do with the food.

They totally mixed up our order and brought us wrong meal twice. The pina colada was basically milkshake with normal milk and without any taste of rum.

Pies. Meat. Some of the best steak and meat pies you'll find in a local pub anywhere in London. With a tastecard they taste even better. Visit on the Tuesday and win free drinks during the weekly pub quiz.

I go quite often to the Tommyfield for so many reasons, the place is cool, delicious food, You can order drinks and pay at the end, there is a waiter service for drinks when you get a table, Staff are so friendly, other punters are friendly, cocktails are great, there is great comedy night upstairs every week, its dog friendly etc. I could go on and on but I decided to review it because sometimes you forget to review the good ones and I realised that I should have done this a long time ago.

Very slow service, cold food, disinterested and rude staff. Given the wrong bill, no apologies even offered. Wouldn't recommend.

Our local pub, fantastic food and service. It is a little pricey (expect £10-15 for a main meal) but the food is excellent and the cocktails are also very good. The sport is on at all the reasonable times — though it can get very busy at lunch time on the weekends. Haven't been to the upstairs room but have heard great things about the comedy they host each week.
