Whatever you do dont stay here! no working showers. An insane trek to the bathroom. And this was after we booked and payed for a room with a private bathroom. Everything is slightly grotty and our room was in the basement. This place should be illegal.

Not very nice place at all and their computer systems were not working. The staff had no clue about which rooms were which, the information signs about services etc were incorrect and the management refused to fix them. The keycards only worked sporadically and they shut off the water without prior warning on a number of occasions.

Horrible, as soon as we arrived there were already 2 couples complaining but we still didn't know that we would be next. They had a glitch in the management of the reservation and tried to trick us by giving us a room in a building other than the hostel that was half in ruins as seen in the photos. After complaining we were given a more decent room even though it was half in construction in some parts. The showers are the worst, there is hardly anywater falling, they have nowhere to put the clothes and they do not allow you to move practically anything. They added an extra charge of 200 euros for something as simple as placing the 4 people on the reservation in the same room, which was already included in the reservation. During our 4 days there, the reception was an ongoing battle against customers who kept coming to complain. A poor management, a building with many problems and a staff with a lack of education are the pillars of this company that can ruin your trip to London.

Horrible, we just arrived when there were some couples complaining but we didn't know yet we will be the next one. The reception did a mistake in our reservation and they tried solve to it giving us a room in another different building which was very deteriorated as you can see in the photos. After we complaint about the lies they tried with us, they offer us a better room but under construction in some areas.

Staff recommends you to leave your valuables in the “safe boxes” and steal them after. The cctv in that “safe room” doesn’t work strategically and they know this. Don’t get tricked by this please and be careful where you leave your valuables. Rooms smell and beds are very uncomfortable. Usually criminals staying in this place as is cheap and staff doesn’t care about the customers.

This is the worst place, I have ever been! double booked! our private room had no lock! I mean no lock on the door! dirty bathrooms! a reception desk full of people in despair! I have no words! please never visit it!

Very good hostel with great spaces I recommend this hostel.

I would urge you not to stay in this hostel. Dirty and derelict building actually under construction rooms are cramped and smelly. 1 toilet shared by approx 20 people 1 shower shared by 2 whole floors of the hostel! There is no luggage store even though stated on the website. The only decent place is the Reception area which is true to the photos on the website. The other areas are filthy and smelly I assumed that the customers would be travellers on a tight budget like myself… But the majority of the people I met were homeless people rough sleepers ex convicts or drug addicts. If I had been able to I would have left straight away. Environmental health would condemn this place. Stay away! I wanted to give No stars but I wasn't able to.

Very beautiful place at first glance but we quickly realize that it is an illusion.
Between ubiquitous dirt, boiling or cold water in a shower where laying the foot will bring you a wart, prostitutes, alcoholics, "refugees" and staff very non barge, the atmosphere is not really there.
To find the showers or toilets, good luck.
Also risk finding a stranger in your room on the way home and it is not the obvious lack of catches that will help.
Stinking smell when you arrive: mixed with mould and uncleaned sheets. The pictures are absolutely deceptive too, be careful, only the welcome looks like something.
Never go there.

The person who write down that have hot water works in the hostel so shes's do not tell the true. The picture in Barkstons Rooms site completely fake, reality completely different. The building is full of mouse, dirty, smelling. one day hot water other day no water we had to move into other building to had a shower. Reception people arrogant. I do not recommend you can find other best hostel around area. no start.

If I could I would give a 0 for this. 1 — bedroom smelly 2 — no hot water in the first bedroom they gave to my friends 3 — toilet dirty as it can anyone imagine 4 — 2nd bedroom no one, not even the staff could figure it out the warm hot water 5 — very rude staff 6 — in the morning while my friends were dressing themselfs someone opened the door without knocking and quickly closed it without saying sorry or anything 7 — horroble breakfast 8 — the last day they found bugs crawling on the mattress This is just pretty horroble to pay £55 each person and have to sleep in this conditions. Luckly they didnt have their kids with them! This place is DISGUTING, theres not another work for this place!

The service was very good When we arrived the sheets were dirty and our room was not ready. False publicity. I do not recommend it very strongly.

The very good thing is location — it is very near to underground and lot of restaurants. The another good thing is price but its all. We thought that only for sleeping it was enough but beds were really uncomfortable and when you move on your bed everyone had to wake up. Also we had problem with doors so if you wanted to close it you had to use lot of power what probably woke up whole hostel. About showers and toilets I will be rather quiet. So never more rather I will pay something where I can sleep normally.

A good place to sleep, the spacious room comfortable the mattresses although it is worth mentioning that when I took the shower the second day there was no hot water and for the weather standards of that place I think it is essential to have enough hot water. That is why I bestow the 3 stars.

Worst experience ever. The rooms are inadequate and no facilities provided. Dirty Bathroom, mice in room, odd sockets, have to pay 3pounds /day for keeping your luggage (not keeping actually dumping the luggage in heap), no tables or any common panel, dirty blankets, very small bathroom. I booked room on high fair with no breakfast and nothing was good apart from its location. will never recommend anyone : (

If I could give this 0 stars I would have. My stay was horrid. From start to finish. Bed was awful to sleep on and too small. Had to bend my legs. Toilets had no locks (communal) Shower was cold (light didn't work) Checked out a night early and the staff behind the counter the could not care less. Only words that was mentioned was that I'm not getting a refund for the second night. Luckily already booked somewhere else and didn't care about it. No key cards from staff for the room. Had to keep being let into the room which was a real inconvenience again asking for a keycard they didn't care. Worst place ever in my opinion.

Good price. Staff were friendly and helpful. Central area.

The site is deceiving, it's nothing like the pictures. They are dwarf rooms, with no clear decoration, with stained bedspreads and dwarf baths and horrible food.

For the price the accommodation is good. My problem with Barkston Rooms the baggage room is a joke plus they want to pay £3 per day to use it. The baggage room was a complete mess, bags all over the place. But the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Quiet, clean, open 24h reception. There were a few stains on the carpet and plugs are in only one area of the room, didn't have access to them from my bed. Remember that you have to get an adaptor if you're not from the UK, the plugs are diferent there. Very warm and confortable inside, there was always hot water. Only went there to sleep so I don't know how the eating area works.

Good advice. Never book in this place. We booked a double bed ensuite, they give us a six beds room. No comment. One good thing, the refund is working properly.

Good for small budget! After you do not expect great luxury. Bed under the roofs without elevator, velux without blinds.
Despite any comfortable bed and little noisy.
3 min from the Metro Earls short Walk located in Zone 1 and which allows easy access to all the lines. The people at the reception are charming and attentive.
So good for people who do not focus on the place to sleep.

First of all it has to be said that I booked this establishment since I had read as a small tierfreund there would be small mice and rats to be found. To my and that of my fellow-traveller disappointment we found there unfortunately none.
In the meantime I was surprised by the shower where you could be sure that you had only boiling hot water at all times.
In the meantime, the smoke detector, which unfortunately especially older people, is frightened and starts off at big shops.

It's a very cheap hostel so one can't expect great quality. Some parts were still under construction and everything (rooms, toillets, showers etc) was stripped down to the bare minimum. There isn't any cooking facilities, just an old kettle and microwave. Some weird people hung around the TV room. The thing that bothered me the most is that I booked for Earls Court Rooms but the reception said Barkston Rooms and some signs on the hostel said "Londoners Hostel". I thought that was strange. The reception staff were ok, nothing to complain. Except Ali, the one that works the night shift. Ali is the greatest human being on Earth. He was very helpful and understanding and is the only reason I'm giving the hostel 3 stars.

A great venue to film the UK equivalent of 'American Horror Story', the cast is also readily available there. Crazy place, in the female dorms, lots of loud aggressive arguments between women probably the underlying reason for these arguments are the condition of the rooms, no mirrors, no door on showers inside female dorms, double booked beds sometimes. Mice in both rooms I moved to, huge holes in ceilings, dirty duvet fillings. Aggressive arguments in common area and Kitchen between guests and staff. This is a mix of travellers and residents of a lower income staying in here, due to the UK Regulatory Government authorities not enforcing accommodation regulations, hostels and hotels at this level seem to not make the effort to have guests sign terms of accommodation in their own language before they enter the room, so there is alot of aggression, a very dangerous place to stay both due to guests behaviour and the general state of the building. I'm afraid to say this type of thing can be found in a few hostels and hotels in London, needs to be some huge changes in the hotel industry in the UK.

A very cheap option for travelers, located in a very safe and beautiful zone. What I didn’t like is that I had to share room with 5 more people and so I couldn’t say I really rested.

Horrible! I am not a complicated person looking for great luxury but it is a shame but really a shame misleading photos, very dirty room, no equipments etc.
It deserves a star for the location to the limit but that's it.
We had to leave my girlfriend and I in the middle of the night so much that it was impossible to close the eye while we had booked for 3 nights…

To avoid this is certain, unless you can not do otherwise financially! We had taken a private room with bathroom… No hot water, common areas very dirty and really murky. We had a mouse in our room this morning when we woke up! One and only positive point for this place, its location in London!

I would have liked to read the reviews on this place earlier… During my recent stay there were (as already several months ago apparently) work and all that implies.
The springs of the mattresses in which we slept (6 in my room) gnashed with every move we made. The shower was clearly lacking in privacy without talking about comfort…
I wanted to stay in a new neighborhood which is it otherwise very nice but for €5 more I had found an inn (near Euston) that offered breakfast, lockers closed for our personal belongings, a towel… So we can find a lot better in London.
I do not recommend this Barkston rooms in the state…

Normal and cheap, great for young people who don't know where to go the first few days.

Hotel Everything, absolutely everything is disgusting. Dirty common areas. Dirty rooms. Broken and/or dirty showers. Toilets ditto.
We are deceived by the photos and by the entrance, but as soon as we push the door behind the reception we enter another world. I had to go through the whole hotel to find a more or less usable shower.
My only advice: go to the Youth hostel YHA Earls Court, two blocks further. Hardly more expensive though.

Friendly staff, good location and acceptable room facilities for this price. Stayed in a single room, the room is fairly clean but a bit old and small. Perfect for a day tripper down to London (stayed here after a Chelsea match) but if you’re looking for a high-end hotel or wishing to stay long-term then this is not the place.

Hostel quite acceptable quality price, you need to know that it is a hostel and that is in the center of London counting on that, acceptable.

Very cheap and central accommodation. If you only need a place to sleep in London, this is the perfect place!

The guys at the reception are the most patient ever! We were in a lot of trouble with our flights but the guys where so helpful and welcoming at the same time keeping their calm. As for the rooms: you get what you pay. You should always judge by that. The location is very nice, the surroundings beautiful, but the facilities average. Anyways really close to a subway station, farmacy and 24/7 shop. We had breakfast included but the breakfast staff was rude, slow, and unwelcoming. We had toast some ham and cheese instant coffee and orange juice. All in all 5 stars overall.

I booked a dormitory room (10 beds, girls only) for £12. I do not recommend this hotel at all: — it is very hard to find (the sign "hotel" is just a A4 sheet of paper taped to a window), — showers and premises are not maintained properly, — in the shower, hot water tap was marked with a "C", cold water tap with a "H", — bunk beds are not stable if you sleep on the top bed (and I am not heavy), — I had to go to the 3rd floor without lift, — breakfast is £7.50 (I didn't pay for it: too expensive). If I can give some positive feedback: members of staff are polite, the free Wi-Fi is good, and the hotel is well located (when you will spot it). But they are not enough to give a 2nd star.

If you wonder how could be living in a jail, then welcome in to your wonderings. The room I've got it's underground in an unpleasant part of the building. As soon as I got in, the feeling I had was really bad. No space for passing through beds as the passage between them is not enough and people would place their bags through it so you have to do acrobatics jumps and slaloms to reach your bed. The bed was looking ugly, sheets were old, with holes and dirty spots and as soon as I jumped on it seemed like the whole thing would fall down in a while. Finally, a guy that was sleeping there the night before just came in and told me that he was massively stung by bedbugs and that was the end of my journey there as I quickly came out of this scary and dirty place to change with another hostel. Never ever pick the cheapest room in this place, better to go on a 25$ room (in a different hostel) than ever go in this.

I arrived today and my check in was fast, friendly and simple. My room was changed to a 12 bed dorm from a 14 bed dorm (because they were full) but no wait time! Very pleasant people at reception and they walked me to my new building which was around the corner. Wi-Fi works great (using it now) and food is around the corner along with a few shops and markets. Great location! After my first night people in my room had bed bugs. (Put a dryer sheet in your bed and they do not bite! ) Staff is only at check in after that they find you annoying and are not helpful. Level 3 in building 19 there is a microwave and kettle. Basement of main building there is a fridge (but you will need to ask which room) I don't mind staying again but it was not the nicest hostel.

I would give it a 0 of possible. So many things to list but I would rather not remind myself as I will throw up. Avoid! Overly priced place in. Horrid staff, dirty sheets, smelly, messed up mattresses, not hygenic what so ever. Third world country hotel will probably be better.

Really bad, dingy, dirty. No towels and no assistance. No elevator and luggage storage at the mercy of all. Phony bathroom without toilet! No towels and no paper… hallucinating hygiene. Experience to forget!

No. We're not at all. The double rooms have bunk beds, and are very small. Consider that a suitcase and yourself are not in the room. Dirty, really outrageously dirty. Dirty old sheets and changed once in seven days, strange cleaning rounds, come just to empty the trash. Insects and spiders everywhere. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Money spent badly.

My son was stuck in london as his accomodation let him down. Hassan at the londonears was extremely helpful and friendly cleanliness and comfort was 5 star as the prices were very reasonable.

Flee from this hotel unless there is an earthquake or disaster and may have to take refuge somewhere indoors!
The worst hostel/pension/concentration camp where I've been.
Unbearable overcrowding in rooms with double beds of which a person in their right mind would have installed.
Stench of improvised meals for guests in kitchens improvised in the corridors.
Shabby, dirty, smelly and always paperless bathrooms.
Showers with all kinds of crops from fungi of a laboratory of biology rather than a toilet.
Breakfast of a gulag in Siberia Stalinist: "ham" parched, of quality low cost, bread of mold hard as a stone and made soluble powders with orange juice.
Only one reason why there is this hotel I can think of is to serve decorated for a horror movie or as a site to purge your past misdeeds.

First thing upon arrival was the lack of lockers (the explanation was that "were all picked up", even when the hostel was not full).
Clean left much to be desired as well as the facilities: Sockets did not work for the whole week I stayed.
The Wi-Fi (which must be paid 3 pounds for 24 h) was fatal.
Unfortunate this hostel. I do not recommend it for anything.

Meh, you get what you pay for at this hostel. Rude staff, smelly rooms, and the worlds longest staircase that is a hassle if you're a smoker. Bathrooms are disgusting and no kitchen facilities. It's in a great spot though so as long as you don't plan on spending long inside the hostel it's an ok place to stay.

Dirty there are lockers and are bad people.

This place isn't value for money! Would avoid! The prices aren't very expensive which is good if you are on a budget but this place isn't worth the cheap price! The rooms weren't clean, there was mold in the rooms and bath rooms. A lot of the fixings were broken and falling apart. This place is more this a boarding house, the residents are definitely not travellers and are working. The staff are absolutely appalling! I can't believe how rude and hostile they were! Hands down worst hostel I have ever been too!

It's a okay please for a nayte or to. I had a 6 bed room on the 5 floor. — clin skyts — clin room — chip what breakfast included (simpal brecfest) — fast Wifee, one hour free. — no alivator — no working lights in the shower. — no mirror anywhere — no lockers fore baggage.

It is not a HOTEL, is a hostel, and is cheap. What do you expect? The customer is the pig that leaves the dirty bathroom, because we have seen how clean them every day, and the same with the noise when they talk about high in the evenings; somewhat unpleasant staff, breakfast is not included and is expensive for what there is. Do not have lockers, so you have to leave your belongings in your suitcase and locked in the room. Wi-Fi only an hour a day, which today is cumbersome and painful.
It is very close to the subway, train and is a quiet area.

Worst hostel ever I had been. No Kitchen. Oh there is a toilets size room look like kitchen but there is no dish, no spoon … Not polite staff (terribly rude) They deal with customer as a luggage. They make you waiting for long time. Not clean. No elivator. No loundry. No safety locker. No free Wi-Fi.

No free Wi-Fi. No Kitchen. £3.80 luggage storage per item. Not worth it! Paid for a four bed, female only form with bathroom — ended up in 8 bedroom female only dorm. 48 hour cancellation policy, meaning you have to stay minimum two nights when you realise how terrible it is. The rooms are spacious, and they are clean, but the false advertising and lack of any facilities means the cost per nice is a complete rip off.
