Worse place I've stayed in the past 45 years. A true dump.

Small rooms, but it's near a tube station. Makes it easier for access.

It gives a bad image of Greece.

The bedroom was nice other than the curtain being off on a few clips meaning light was coming in. The bathroom wasn't really up to scratch but it was enough for just our short overnight stay 12am until 7am. The bed was comfortable. The noise from the bar next door/underneath could be heard in the room as could the doors shutting in the other rooms. The front of house staff were very friendly. In summary it was ok for us staying overnight after a gig but I probably would not consider it for a longer stay.

Very nice Hotel, close to the subway, in front of a prison, but not to be frightened. It's old, and if you get a room upstairs you have to climb some very steep stairs. It has a lot of carpeting, typical of England. Breakfast is OK and the owner who is Greek is very friendly. It is affordable taking into account the prices of London hotels.

The hotel is absolutely sufficient for a sightseeing tour in London. It is inexpensive for London conditions. The included Continental Breakefast is a basic breakfast and absolutely fine for that.

Good Hotel, about three minutes from the subway. The Triple room is spacious, and we were surprised to find a tea set in the room. The Wi-Fi does not work well. Recommended for those who make a quick stop!

Awful customer service. Called many occasions trying to cancel a room due to an emergency operation and unable to leave the house, or to travel. Receptionist hanged up on many occasions refusing to talk to us and kept saying the room will be empty and lose money despite undergoing a serious emergency operation this was there concern. Rude, ignorant and unfriendly place.

Bad Hotel. The photos shown on Booking are not real… a hotel so old and dirty I had never happened. Above the chandeliers, naturally situated above the bed, there are 10 cm of dust! What a piece of crap!

I stayed in The Makedonia at the end of September. It was perhaps the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The carpets were worn and dirty. In some cases, particularly on the stairs, to dangerous levels. There were holes in walls, the Wi-Fi didn't work, and neither did the TV. As the bed wasn't secure, it moved or wobbled, thus making it difficult to sleep in. The room hadn't been cleaned properly and was in a general state of disrepair. It does advertise sound proof rooms, however this is certainly not the case, as even with the window closed, not only is the traffic quite loud, you can clearly hear people at the bus stop, a good fifty yards away, talking. We complained and asked to switch rooms but were told there were no other rooms available. The manager has remained uncontactable for the four weeks since my stay, so it's unlikely that I'll get a reasonable resolution, but I'll keep trying all the same. DON'T STAY HERE! It ruined what was meant to be a great weekend in London.

Good staff. Clean room, comfortable bed. Excellent value for the area. Quite noisy from Caledonian Rd, but it's quiet enough to sleep. Shower didn't run hot but was fixed. Had banging pipes (like hot vs cold pipe expansion) in the night, would probably be much harder to fix.

Less than average price for a average room. Nice bed and quirky decor. Didn't have breakfast etc but good for a quick trip to London near kings cross/Camden.

Very close to tube station, friendly staff, and breakfast included. The bathroom was okay, but not in the greatest condition, similarly the rest of the rooms furniture was worn.

Very nice staff. The breakfast buffet could be have more to offer, more greens and more options. We stayed at the first floor, we could hear the door slamming everytime someone entered the corridor. In general, good hotel but could be better.

Our room at the hotel was lovely. Staff friendly and ready to help. For breakfast there was a good selection. Overall our stay has been prefect.

Wouldn't go back in a hurry. Was ok for £75 for one night and plenty of room. But the whole place lacks a lot of care and attention in all areas.
Nice friendly staff too.

Lovely, clean, warm and cosy room. Great position: less than 5 minutes walk to the tube station (piccadilly line) and just in front of the bus stop. The staff is very kind and attentive. What more could you ask for this price? Highly recommended.

If you expect any better than this for the price in the area, then it's not going to happen. It's sort of fine — quite nice, clean, friendly staff, reasonable VFM, flexible (negotiated late check-out for a small fee), and they throw in a very nice (and hangover-friendly! ) continental breakfast. Really can't complain at all. I'll almost certainly check out the same place next time I'm in the area, as long as prices stay more or less the same.

For a city trip an optimal price — performance ratio.

Close to the subway station, otherwise, everything is pretty negative…

Our parents booked this hotel for us for our honeymoon and to be honest the room was more like a bedsit! Small dark and gloomy and had to walk around the bed sideways! There was a email sent reguardiing making the room special and nothing was done about it! Floorboards where creaky and deco was horrible and wallappaper was falling of the walls and TV signal was rubbish! Not the best hotek to stay in tbh!

Stayed here for one night hotel was nice enough for £120 b&b.
Breakfast wasn't the greatest but ok.
However there was no hot water for us to have a shower, had to wash in cold water
Spoke to reception who didn't seem bothered, she then told me there had been no pressure in the system therefore it had switched off, they had reset it and there would be hot water eventually! No use to us as we had to check out!
I asked about a refund and was asked to email them, this we have done and surprise surprise, no reply not even an acknowledgement!
An absolute disgrace.
