Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely sized and presented room in a great location. The bar has character and decent drinks. Breakfast was one of the best we've had and with a very friendly waitress taking our order. Thank you.

Good food, friendly staff & tidy beer.

We were greeted by the friendly waitress who saw us to our table and once we had settled took our drinks order and left us to browse the menu. Upon returning with our drinks she then took our food order and was cheerful and friendly.
We didn’t wait very long before our food was served to us and it was delicious, would certainly go back again.

Lovely clean, warm large room, everyone very friendly, had meal last night was excellent. Breakfast this morning was also delicious.
It's the little things that make the difference, Elemis products at the wash basin & shower cubicle, bath robes and lovely soft fluffy towels and also lovely the Green Tea was TEAPIGS, The best.
Would highly recomemend.
We will return again.

Slow service forgit what drinks we ordered when main meals arrived there was one sprig of broccoli with pie and boiled potatoes and steak came with ton of chips no veg or salad in fact get salad with sandwich but not on a dinner shame.

First of all I have to say that the staff were polite and efficient. However the food was average and expensive. The hand cut chips… were frozen and definitely not hand cut. My husband had a sandwich for £8.50 apart from the crisps and a small salad on the side it could have been a tesco's meal deal sandwich. Soup was like red hot lava but was extremely tasty, which makes me question if it was homemade or did someone pop to Tesco and pick this up along with the sandwich. £32.00 for one drink each, one sandwich one soup and two portions of chips! Needless to say we will not return.

Always polite and welcoming staff and really hot 9n covid regulations.

Just had a sarnie and a pint outside so can’t comment on some things. Superb. Staff were polite and friendly. Social distancing was well in place. Also got every person to use the new app.

Lovely service had soft drinks so can't comment anymore but clean and tidy x.

Had a lovely meal there staff really friendly and the food was great definitely recommend it.

Have been here several times it is handy to pop in have lunch and see friends. Friendly bar staff although the menu is a bit expensive for what you get what you get is nicely presented but not a lot, the menu will not appeal to everyone as limited. Overall I will go again and recommend.

I love it here. Been here many times to eat and drink but this is my first stay. I’d highly recommend it!

We had a lovely lazy, Sunday breakfast here. Portions very generous and good coffee. Unfortunately we forgot my partner's pure wool Joules scarf at the table and when we came back to retrieve it someone had taken it. Thank you to staff who helped us look for it, there is no counting on other people's honesty.

Great Christmas party! Good food and atmosphere. Had a good night’s sleep and a delicious cooked breakfast.

We went in for lunch as it looked and is a beautiful place, the staff were very friendly. But sadly we were disappointed with our meal my partner and I both had the roast leg of lamb we found the meat was tough and dried up the roast potatoes tasted like they were yesterday’s it really wasn’t worth the £14-50. We would go back but only for a drink as we love Totnes and loved the history of the hotel ☹️

Lovely place although the menu seems to have shot up in price, £8 for a baked potato seem a bit much to me.

I always enjoy visiting the stars as it has a friendly atmosphere and the staff are always welcoming ☺ Food is good and also the service.

The summer festival was brilliant today staff very friendly and helpful and the music was good well done to you all xx.

Fantastic Hotel, great food and drinks, hotel reception staff and bar staff very friendly and helpful, room was spotless and perfect, could not fault at at all — only comment — it’s a shame the car park isn’t a bit bigger or they have alternative faciilties — Had to move my car from Steam keys Public car park at 8am as I needed a quick get away in the morning after breakfast, so had to pay and display further up the street from the hotel as the car park was completely full, but on the whole would fully recommend the hotel it’s great and could not fault at all.

Just returned home from a wonderful night's stay at the Royal Seven Stars. Quirky and interesting, full of history, my room was modern and comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient. Can definitely recommend staying.

Nice quirky hotel with a good English breakfast. Great central spot and the parking although limited is a bonus.

Clearly beloved of the locals and an interesting and intriguing building. However, a less than satisfactory experience in the coffee shop. Too many unruly dogs and young mothers with pushchairs obstructing free access.

We recently had lunch here. This establishment offers a choice of 2 bars and on reflection we should probably have chosen to eat in the "Saloon". Service in the other bar was pedestrian, although the food was largely good. My companion had the pork chop which was served with a good selection of vegetables. I chose the fritto misto which offered a very good selection of fish. The down side of the meal was that mine was served with "fries" which were lukewarm, despite the very tasty fish being piping hot. How do they do that?

Used to be a great place to eat and drink but seems to be losing its touch whilst becoming excessively expensive. £18 for a fish pie and pint of beer might be modest for the super wealthy from the south east, but it is over the top for us locals. Plus the fish pie, in the new smaller dish, was very average, with less fish. We debated whether the mash was real or instant and the side vegetables, laid out over the tray, were undercooked and unappetising. Lastly, although it was quite early in the evening there were surprisingly few customers in the lounge bar dining area, despite it being their curry night.

Great location in Totnes. Food looked good. Wine a little pricey. Beer price average. Recommend a visit.

Hotel room was clean and functional. Staff on reception efficient and very helpful. BUT the food. Dreadful. We had local lamb rump steaks. Apart from not being able to cut into when we did get a piece into our mouth we had a long lasting chew. Breakfast included but avoid it. Eggs over cooked and rubbery, sausages dried and over cooked, which appears to be the theme with the food. Stayed on the 18 August. Left a review with the hotel but no response from them.

One of the ales was off but they did swap it for me with no hassle. Pleasant place to enjoy a pint. Have heard the breakfast is good.

Fantastic place to sit and watch the world go by. Outside shaded areas, right at the bottom of Fore St. 100yds from the river. Prices pretty good for Totnes. The breakfast are just what you need to start the weekend!

We went on Thursday night to round off our holiday in Totnes. We sat out front. We had used the hotel a number of times and thought we'd finish off there. At 11.05 I tried to use the Wc. The hotel was all locked up and I couldn't get in. I banged on the door and a foreign guy turned up. He eventually let me in but his demeanour was not good. He later came round collecting glasses and got into conversation with us. We couldn't believe what he said. He basically stated he couldn't give a toss. We squggested he leave us to avoid any further conflict. My partner wanted to use the Wc but we were to concerned about his attitude do we did not peruse this.
We had enjoyed our visits to the hotel whilst on holiday over 3 week previously having meals there and a few drinks. We will not now return to this establishment.

As I entered the building I was immediately impressed, not only by the foyer but by the warm and professional greeting we received from the receptionists. After viewing the ballroom (with its own bar and terrace) and how gorgeous the rooms were I knew that this was the wedding venue for us… we were blown away after meeting with the GM and seeing what they could offer us on our strict budget. Everything was tailored perfectly to our wants and needs. On the day the room was set up beautifully, the table plans and decorations and (complimentary) flowers set up exactly as we’d asked. The service and food were absolutely faultless — canapés and bubbly on entrance and then seated for the wedding breakfast at 1. We had many compliments from our guests regarding the food. But what really made it so special was the fantastic service from Tamsin and the team; they went above and beyond. No request was too big or too small. All the staff in the hotel were excellent, from room service through to top management.

I wasn't expecting much and was pretty impressed with the food, service and the beers on offer.

Nice Olde Worldy Atmosphere. Average menu. An open fire added to the charm of the place but I think their chimney needed attention as the room smelled very smokey. So did I when I left.

Beautiful decoration — quirky nooks and crannies and extremely helpful staff! Came in to shelter from the rain to a lovely surprise!

Sometimes breakfast is 2 for 1. However, the standard of food is great in general here, if not a little slow service wise. Fair amount of staff around usually but they can sometimes be slow there so patience is a tested virtue for things like coffees have waited 15 mins for a coffee and tea to arrive after our breakfast had already turned up (ordered exactly the same time) with little to no obvious reason for the wait (perhaps that was a training day for someone though or something haha) Recommended though as breakfasts and staff were actually top, just the speed of delivery and this could be down to individual experience and perhaps not in general.

Beautifully historic building hosting a really good 3 star hotel. The busy town bars offer a unique menu celebrating local businesses and produce. 5 star service 5star products.

Bar service was good when first ordered drinks After that food service slow to say it wasn't busy mussels luke warm no fries came with order no one check to see how we were not a great experience been there before and was impressed.

So overpriced for the quality of the food, good atmosphere, complained about food ordered stale bread and cold bacon, the jacket pot had seen better days. But I must say the manager who I believe is called Lucy and a staff member called Sam totally turned it round and made sure we had decent food brought out, Lucy has a very friendley and efficient vibe about her and is a good asset to the establishment.

Visit here at least once a week. Lovely pub with great food and service, with friendly staff. It's also dog friendly which is great!

Went there for a 4 hour meeting in the bar. Great venue. Reasonably priced drinks and lunch menu. No complaints that we sat and worked for 4 hours and only had 4 coffees and 2 limes and soda between us. I will try the lunch next time. Free Wi-Fi is great.

Excellent food, but a little pricey for the drinks. The burgers on the menu are recommended along with the children's dishes. The interior is very pleasant and the staff are happy to help. The restaurant would benefit from more staff serving, although we did go on boxing day and the Seven stars was the only local venue open so probably had more custom than they were expecting. Would be happy to go again and recommend to friends.

New manager, new menu, not as good as it used to be. Went there last Tuesday first night of Totnes late night events, we'll done Totnes, the seven stars was bustling as usual.

Was very nice. Had a Christmas party there. Tables were done beautifully. Food was excellent and service was wonderful.

Went to watch the rugby. Wasn't too busy and was able to get a decent seat. Atmosphere was good and relaxed. Have been for drinks before and the service was fine.

Friendly and helpful staff, Pleasant location at the base of Totnes high street. Perfect for our informal meeting. Only a few parking spaces at the rear but more parking 5 minutes round the corner.

Attended for a Federation of Small Business (South Hams) event. All the staff were very professional, courteous yet friendly. Surroundings were clean, and luxurious. Bar was well stocked!

A friend and I stopped in with our (sleeping) 1 year olds for a quick drink and were made to feel welcome.

We always visit the Royal Seven Stars for lunch when we are in Totnes and are always pleased with the food. Always well presented and tasty. However yesterday a little disappointed that the lunch special menu was rather sparse. Only one fish dish and a vegetarian. Did we visit on the wrong day?

A little bit old fashioned but nice enough. Food was good, staff friendly and comfortable beds.

Ordered the seafood platter to share OMG what a disappoint there was not enough for one let alone to share and the prawns had clearly just been defrosted in water as they were so tasteless and water running out of them. Considering this was £18 sorry I stand corrected £17.95 very very poor and highly recommend you don't have it. It was a real same won't be going back.

Having stayed and eaten in The Stars many times I was very disappointed with our meal yesterday. Prawn sandwiches were sadly lacking in a reasonable amount of prawns & one scoop of ice cream came in what looked like a small sauce dish which was too small for even a tea spoon to get in. We had to ask for the dish to be changed. Our 5 year old was very disappointed that it didn't even come with a wafer and at £2.95 was less than satisfactory!

Just popped in for a breakfast after leaving home early. Great selection of items and all very tasty. My wife elected to go go for the veggie option which also looked very good too.

We came here for food. We ordered and waited and waited. It didn't seem busy and was over 50 mins for starters to arrive. The food was good when it arrived but the wait was too long as we had a bus to catch! They offered free desert so we decided to catch a later bus but they took so long to bring the desert out that we had to leave before it arrived!

Everything you could possibly want from a hotel. The rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds, powerful showers and spa baths. The restaurant is excellent and the staff were very helpful. Will definitely be returning next time I travel to Totnes.

Good, clean hotel, with plenty of choice regarding food & drink. Pet friendly. Only downside for us was that being a late booking we were allocated a room on the top floor.

Went there for lunch with friends, had a crab sandwich. Food was good but pricey, although that's to be expected for the area. Service was good. Wasn't there long so can't say much more but it seems like a very nice place.

We have been going to The Seven Stars for years and the food and atmosphere has always been 5 star. I'm afraid to say that this has all changed — the last two times we have been the food has been average and with not so many customers as there used to be the atmosphere has changed. Today I ordered a toasted cheese sandwich — the cheese wasn't even melted and unfortunately it had to go back. My husbands was the same but he chose to eat it. Sorry Seven Stars but we won't be rushing back — such a shame as it used to be a dead cert for good food.

Biggest pub in Totnes with three bars, function room and plentiful outside seating. Drinks are generally good with a wide variety, but are pricey. Food is good quality and reasonable.

Today paid £4:50 for some potatoes wedges end up being given 8. For £4:50 thats like £2:25 for two Potatoes. Why it was nice it was a little over cooked and was quite disappointed. Come on guys 10 years ago it was so much better disappointed : (

Stunning hotel in the heart of Totnes… Been here on several occasions for meals out & a comedy night. Would highly recommend…

Lovely place to meet people.

We went there in the morning for a tea and a coffee and stayed in front of the fireplace, later we went again for beer and nachos. Love the place and staff. Be back again :)

Lovely setting, but drink prices are high.

Specials menu advertised outside the door which brought us in. Turned out it did not apply. There was a specials menu which you had to ask for to get the offer (not the menu entitled "specials" that comes with the menu! The food was high price and indifferent and you had to order from the bar. Recently went to a function upstairs. The food they provided would have looked poor choice in a railway canteen 50 years ago. The beer was off. Took them half an hour to get it going then there was no change in the till (another 10 minute wait) so after 40 minutes finally went to get some grub and the rather parsimonious portions had all dissapeared. The management needs changing as they are clearly not supervising to the correct level and the whole place seems amateurish which is totally at odds with the faded sophistication it likes to portray. The bar down stairs though is great for the kids.

Not your typical hotel bar, instead feeling quite independent within the grounds. Calm and relaxed atmosphere.

Exceptional hotel, faultless. Room beautiful with jacuzzi bath. Food and service brilliant. I have recommended it to our friends. We combined it with a river trip up the Dart. We will definately be staying again.

We arrived at this Hotel on a Sunday afternoon by chance looking accommodation, and what a wounder-full experience very friendly staff, clean, tidy and the food and service were excellent.

I have eaten and called in for coffee at the Royal Seven Stars several times. I've always found the quality of food and drink be superb with attention to detail. Quality of service is also superb — very friendly staff who are professional and prompt. I'm so impressed that I will be using the hotel as a base for my clients when they book my Photography Holidays as the hotel has the perfect mix of quality, informality and character and is in a lovely Devon town.
