We were staying in Burford overnight and chose the Highway Inn to eat this evening. Our food was delicious, Fish Pie, and Tenderloin stuffed with black pudding and chorizo plus very good not overcooked vegetables. Very welcoming.

Excellent food, superb service will definitely visit again next time we are in burford.

Quick stop for a bite to eat at the start of a long journey to Kent. Warm greeting and quickly seated. Drinks ordered shortly after receiving the menus and noticed we were ready to order so food order taken quickly too. A short wait and the food arrived, very nicely presented and tasted great. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

This was a lovely place to stay, the service was brilliant, the room was lovely, and the breakfast in the morning was one of the best I've had in a hotel, and I stay in a lot of hotels. The ingredients were all local produce, and couldn't ask for better. Highly recommended!

Great fish and chips, and lovely courtyard area, reserved a table online with very friendly service. Enjoyed the Cotswold brewing company lagers on offer.

A very nice place, good, competitively priced food. Very nice service. Downside is, We won’t eat in a restaurant full of dogs. The place is big enough that, if people want to bring dogs into a pup, they don’t need to be inconsiderate enough to bring them into a restaurant. Sadly, that’s the reason we won’t go back.

Pub with good food. Excellent fish and chips. Good choice at lunchtime at £10 per head.

Wow, what a transformation! Just what we need locally. It has that air of sophistication mixed with contemporary surroundings. Add that to the wonderful welcome of the owners (sorry, didn’t catch their names) and the cosy ambience, you’re onto a real winner. Will be going again and highly recommend! So nice to be acknowledged when you walk into an establishment! Service is king and these boys have nailed it.

Really nice place to stay to explore the Cotswolds. In a great location on the main road of a small town, surrounded by some really nice shops. The hotel itself was very cosy and had everything we needed.

Lovely friendly Inn which has dog friendly rooms, just ring and check availability as it's not all rooms. Food is lovely with a great selection and a really good breakfast. This place is really old so don't expect everything to be new and shiny but everything was very good indeed, a lovely stay in a beautiful part of the UK.

It was cold — only a fire — no CH on at lunchtime My steak pie was very poor — hardly any proper meat.

Very friendly hosts, providing value for money accommodation in a real quirky old world hotel. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Lovely old Inn with visible wooden beams. Small courtyard to the rear where you can eat and/or drink, also some picnic benches out front with parasols for shade. We had a lovely lunch with nice service.

Arrived quite late in the evening, got tremendous service from polite and welcoming staff. The bar is good, filled up with goods from the local brewery, and the breakfast was as expected.

OK to be honest this place looks gorgeous from the outside. We arrived for our two night stay and proceeded to the bar to book in. Was served by some pretentious and rude guy. Basically demanded we payed before we were shown our room. The room we had was right above the kitchen and courtyard. Kitchen staff outside smoking and booming noise from the kitchen. Complained and this stopped. Signs of mould in the bathroom and shower curtain was grubby. The shower curtail rail was just about hanging on. Beds were cheap however mattresses were good. Breakfest was it's saviour it was amazing, sausage, bacon and poached eggs were realky nice. Luckily we didn't pay the full price due to booking it months earlier. Be warned whole village is full of gastrointestinal pubs that serve simple pub food but at a premium price. Village is stunning.

Lovely meal, food was very tasty and hot too. The staff were very polite and looked after us very well. The Mushroom Fricasse was delicious and tasty, Chicken and Tarragon Pie was good too, the only downside was there could of been more filling and chunky bits of Chicken. This was served with nice vegetables, but more Carrots would of been nice, as there was two tiny carrots on plate. Sticky Toffee pudding was nice, but portion very small. I would definitely go back!

Service was great followed up by a lovely meal. Recommended.

Can't enthuse too much about this place. Tonight (October 20th 2014) we experienced impeccable quality of restaurant service and food in a beautifully decorated country pub. Very reasonably priced too. I'd strongly recommend this place to anyone.

I was recommended this restaurant by a colleague, when I visited Burford with my wife for a short break. I reserved a table by email. We arrived just before our 7pm booking and there was a table reserved for us. First impression was that this was more pub than restaurant, it was by no means rowdy but we were the only ones dining, everyone else seemed to be enjoying a drink and I wondered if this would affect the atmosphere. However, I think it was just the relatively early time we decided to eat; as it got later more people arrived to dine and it was a much better restaurant vibe. The service was very friendly and helpful, we weren't rushed at all even when we decided to wait half hour between our main course and dessert. Most importantly, the food was fantastic! My steak was maybe more medium to well done than medium-rare, if I was a foody then I'd have an issue with that but I'm not so I don't. All three of my courses were lovely, my wife reported the same. The portions were generous, I really feel like I had value for money here.

The most shockingly rude service from a landlady me and my family have ever experienced in our entire lives. I thoroughly discourage people from going here.
