A very welcoming local — though their website styles it as a ‘gastropub’ — serving excellent Hook Norton (who own the building) ales and quality food. Highly recommended as is the very friendly manager.

I was thrilled to see many recommendations for ‘The Angel’. My husband and I visited Burford on our very first European holiday and will always remember fondly ‘The Angel’. We stayed for 2 nights in a lovely room upstairs and enjoyed a delicious meal there — also met some lovely people. This was way back in September, 1994 — 27 years ago and I still remember it like yesterday. We are from Sydney, 🇦🇺 Australia.

Outstanding. Exceptional food, ambience, beer, wine, and all delivered with a smile.

Just called in for a light bite which was extremely nice. The staff were very friendly and polite. Good place to go.

We had a lovely stay and delicious meal at this Hotel. Staff are so friendly — saved me the last delicious brownie for dessert and even took all of the calories out it for me too 😉🤣

Popped in for an couple of pints whilst staying in Burford for a long weekend. Good social distancing in place (ordered drinks and served whilst in the garden). Staff excellent — food looked to be a hit with the locals … we’ll definitely be back after trying a few more of Burford’s pubs. Kicking ourselves for not booking a room here … next time.

Love the Angel been there many times, they serve a great pint of Cotswold ale, and the pie is greatly recommended! Friendly staff warm atmosphere whether your inside the pub or in garden.

Visited yesterday and sat in the lovely garden under the heater … wrapped up and enjoyed a lovely meal with friends. Very relaxed environment but attentive to all the rules and guidance they have to adhere to. Highly recommended… support local x.

Cosy pub, delicious food, friendly and helpful staff. The beer garden looks great but as it was a bit chilly to sit out in the night we were there we're looking forward to visiting for lunch when hopefully the temperature might be a bit warmer.

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch delivered yesterday Perfectly cooked roast beef, lovely (huge) Yorkshire pudding and beautifully prepared veg, all topped with delicious gravy. Highly recommended.

Went to The Angel tonight for mine and hubbys anniversary. Food was amazing! All of the staff are very friendly and polite. You haven’t eaten proper food in Burford if you haven’t eaten at The Angel!

Favourite pub in Burford. Really nice food, good bar area and drinks selection, friendly service. The beer garden is a hidden gem, it’s never ending! Dog friendly in the bar/garden. Default place for lunch in Burford.

Lovely pub and restaurant. Food, staff and atmosphere were excellent and the Hooky ale was very well kept. Quiet and secluded garden was spot on in the summer heat. We stayed in an inn on the High Street which was very noisy, next time we will stay here as it's 100 yards down a side street.

Had a very relaxing and pleasant meal. Fish and chips, burger, chicken breast, cheese sandwich… All were enjoyed. A block off main street so more quiet. Recommend.

Great Sunday roast, but a growing trend with awful desserts. Had the cheeseboard, one of the three tiny pieces of cheeses given (blue cheese) was the nobly mouldy end/off cut, and cheeseboard was extremely small and overpriced at £12.50!
Made server aware of cheese, hoping to get it replaced, but nothing, no apology, no replacement and nothing taken off the bill. … Tiramisu is supposed to taste of coffee, but no coffee in it. And on the previous visit, the shortbread was just a tiny not very tasty biscuit on the plate again for an extortionate amount of money. Dinners are great at this pub and I well recommend them, but the desserts are just awful. (You’ll find better quality in a cheap chain restaurant! ).

We arrived late without a reservation for dinner and they were really busy but the owner went out of his way to find us a table which was kind of him as he could have easily turned us away. Great food and service. Highly recommended.

Really lovely pub with a great atmosphere. It's quite off the beaten track so worth searching a bit for it. The food was amazing and the beer on point. The landlady was so kind and friendly, very happy to chat. The pub itself is very well presented and feels nice and cosey. Those looking for something a bit more special should absolutely visit the Angel above the other pubs in the town.

Excellent food, but the service can be slow. Staff needs better training, but it's one of the best pubs in Burford, hands down.

Food and service excellent. Smooth pate very good served with warm mini granary loaf. Main course of coconut seafood chowder was lighter in style to traditional chowder and flavour was punchy. Dessert was rocky road cheesecake. Wow. Would recommend to anyone in the area. We also took our 2 Labradors and a large table in the window was reserved for us to keep the dogs out of the way.

My family and I had a fab meal here on New Years Eve. Beautiful pub with fire, food excellent recommend the haddock and venison. Service was great — thank you for looking after so well on such a busy day. Absolutely recommend.

Nice cosy small bar and large restaurant area. Plenty of choice and very welcoming and accomodating. We only stopped for a quick pint and a cup of tea so didn't try the food, though it did look nice. They have free Wi-Fi which is handy as phone signal is quite poor there.

We paid £130 to stay for a night here. We let them know we’re coming with a baby. What they didn’t mention was that the room, which is situated right above the restaurant, is extremely noisy — you can hear EVERYTHING that’s going on downstairs. Our baby could not sleep with this noise. As if the usual chatter and music weren’t enough, at some point they let a street band come in and play! My husband and I had to go and talk to them separately to make it stop (each time them telling us “ just one more song”). Other than that — the room was not in a great shape, old, unventilated, with a dirty tap water — definitely not a £130 a night experience! On the bright side — the owner was extremely nice to us during breakfast and the food was good. Still, far from what you’d expect for the price tag.

Our day out in Cotswold was amazingly great. Started off with wildlife park and a little stroll in Bibury, What a serene place. It's definitely a getaway from busy London life. After a long day, we were looking for a nice place to eat and found The Angel in Burford on Trip Advisor. We loved the ambience as soon as we enter. We were offered great service and the food was second to none. Staff were very welcoming and warm. I would go
to Cotswold again and will visit The angel. Thank you.

As always, an excellent meal, lovely atmosphere. A favourite of ours.

Historic 1580 pub and very small inn. Good food, beautiful gardens. We stayed at the inn for a couple nights, and it was very very nice, comfortable.

Lovely place just off the high street. Got it all food, drink, friendly staff, ambience. A must visit.
