Let’s just say I’m in my 4th room. First room the key didn’t work. Second room was a mess. Mattresses off bed, stuff all over floor, third room didn’t have any working heat or AC. Fourth room is fine but really?! I paid $100 for this? I should have been offered my money back but do you think I was? Guy at front desk was pleasant but that’s about the only good thing about this place.

Pet friendly smoke free breakfast is great.

Nice place to stay will be back again.

Wish floors where mopped better but at least room is clean. Smells good and shower has several shower heads! Nice staff A+ morning breakfast for free a lot of diet choices.

Arrived at 2:45 pm for a 3 pm check in and was told our room wasn’t ready and they weren’t sure when it would be ready. Had requested an early check in as well! Had a wedding to attend so we checked in afterwards at 10 pm and went to sleep. Got showers that next morning and stepped out of shower and noticed the floor was filthy in the bathroom and the foyer area in room. Would say this is the worst stay we have ever experienced with IHG. Was very disappointed with this location.

Horrible staff Greg Daniels should be terminated. Him and his staff stole my property from my paid occupied room and hosted another guest. When I got back to my hotel at the end of my work day to find my property gone they told me they had moved it to another room. I still had an active key to my paid for room. The room they sent me to where my belongings we're supposed to be was occupied by another guest. Went back to the lobby to sort it out for the second time now they had my belongings at their front desk. And told me I could have my original room back. This has to be the worst service I have ever seen! along with dirty rooms, poor water pressure, and a horrible late breakfast. This place sould be looked into by BBB.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The rooms were dirty and had bugs. Not even to mention the rudeness of their so-called front office manager Victoria Schafer. She was very little to no help with any of our problems. Not to mention very rude when she couldn't even put her cell phone down to give us any actual attention for help. I definitely do not recommend staying and will not ever stay at this location again.

The rooms are nice and clean. Their complimentary breakfast was the best I've ever had staying at a hotel. Aside from me having to track down someone for the front desk they were very pleasant and helpful.

Great customer service! Re-opened the pool for us after rain shutdown, changed rooms immediately after the a/c didn't work, set up the common area for our team pizza party. The beds are SO comfy!

Because I called online and placed my reservation there was some mix up. When I arrived at Holiday Inn they said the Priceline had taken this reservation, and they did not give me the discount. However in dealing with a young lady named Alecia, she was very professional. She took the reservation find Priceline and went ahead and gave me my room. The first room I was a little dissatisfied after going back to the desk she gave me another room and it was very good. So I appreciate her professionalism she was awesome handled me in an expedited manner and I was able to make my class that's a conference on time.

Had to check out in the middle of the night due to a six legged visitor joining us in our room. The staff was polite and attempted to relocate us to another room. However, that room had not been cleaned properly. The bathroom was dirty and there was food left in the refrigerator. We gave up and decided we would be more comfortable sleeping in the car.

Impressive. Attention to comfort and detail… A+. Arrived tired after midnight from 7+ hour ride from PA with family. Having 2 sleeping kiddos in tow, THANK YOU Holiday Inn Express for having a ROOM LIGHT ON! Super easy to get into room (conveniently on 1st floor), take quick glance over and make sure everything in order and lay sleeping beauties down. Thank you, thank you! Clean, beautifully decorated, modern and sleek room. Worth every dime. Ahhhhhh… off to bed. Ok… just woke up. Most amazing sleep ever! brand new beds! I could stay here forever. Breakfast was delicious and better than any hotel breakfast of same caliber. Cheese omelets, cinnamon rolls, bacon, yogurt, Fruit Loops all delicious. Great coffee… man! Best Holiday Inn experience yet!

Good place clean service is a little off, not cleaning rooms properly but OK.

While staying at Holiday Inn Express we had a few problems. The phone in our room did not work. Staff was very helpful though they could not get it working. They offered to switch our room though we declined because it was already late. There was also ants all in our room when we woke the next morning. Staff was very helpful again by giving us a discount and assured us they would not rent the room again until the ant issue had been taken care of. It was nice stay even with the problems because the staff was quick to try and correct them all.

The service is great. A few checking in problems that were explained.

When we arrived they only had one room available for 178 which was fine we understood they were busy
But when we got to the room it was as hot as an oven the air didn’t work then the from of the unit fell off
The fan in the bathroom was falling out of the ceiling
There was yelling and banging in the hallways until 2 am
When we talk to the front desk about it all they could say was I’m sorry we were busy.
seriously doubt we’ll be staying with holiday inn again.

I just attempted to make reservation at this hotel for my niece's wedding. When I called, the person asked if I could hold "for a minute". After being on hold for over 15 minutes, I hung up and called back. The same person answered the phone and asked if I could "hold for a minute". I answered no I could not because I just did that and was on hold for over 15 minutes. I asked for the name of the person I was speaking to and he responded Mark. I asked why I was on hold for so long without anyone talking to me he said he was busy taking care of customers. I asked to speak to the manager and was informed that he was the manager. I told him he clearly doesn't understand how to manage his hotel and the fundamentals of customer service. I feel bad for other wedding guests who will be staying at this hotel. We will not and will find a room somewhere else in the area.

I only stay at HIE. A great combination of clean rooms, free Wi-Fi and breakfast, and free parking. I travel around the state of Virginia and a comfortable bed in a modern and clean room is something I look for after a long day. Thanks to the staff for a great stay at this location as well! Everyone should enjoy this.

Brand new beds which are amazing! They have a nice little breakfast area and of course a continental breakfast which had biscuits and gravy. Front desk was friendly and informative, they helped us find a late-night restaurant when we got back.

This property is very nice, well located and is reasonably new. The staff are courteous, friendly and knowledgeable willing to offer suggestions from eateries to other venues that may be of need or interest. The rooms are very clean, neat appearance and have all of the amenities that I expect should be in a hotel room. The free breakfast is fresh and fairly bountiful, the coffee is hot and delicious. I will certainly stay here again when I am back in the area and am suggesting the same for anyone in need of a hotel room in this area.

Roaches, warm not hot water from shower. Bed was comfortable and good Internet. Will never stay at a hotel with roaches again.

Very nice room… good breakfast selection… friendly staff, convenient to shopping and restaurants… only shortcoming was the soda machines were all sold out… so close to a 5 star.

The rooms seemed newly renovated, very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect. The staff was beyond accommodating and friendly! Marcos was especially helpful and nice. If I am in the area gain I will definitely be staying here!

Hotel is nice, Marcus at the front desk is my ninja. Give the man a raise. The internet is great and the food choices in the area are decent. The issue I had is the small bathroom and shower head. However I definitely suggest this hotel.

My experience with holiday inn express in Mechanicsville was stressful and frustrating. I looked into this hotel to block rooms for my wedding. They have a director of sales like most hotels who over sees 3 different hotels. Her name is Erica Montenegro and not only did I call her multiple times on multiple lines and left multiple messages with no response, after I complained to her general manager Dex as he likes to be called she called me with a tremendous amount of attitude. The general manager Dex promised complementary services as well as a discounted group rate to make things right. Only to then say later when ready to block rooms is that I would have to take that up with Erica when he was the one who made such promises. Needless to say I blocked rooms at another hotel. One that was definitely out of the scope of Ms. Montenegro. I would say proceed with caution when blocking rooms for a wedding or other big event with this particular director of sales and general manager in charge.

Friendly staff, renovated modern rooms, convienant to interstate and restaurants! Would highly recommend!

The staff and service have been great. Everyone seems cheery and accommodating. The breakfast was your standard fair, and the beds were comfortable.

I just want to share a few wonderful comments about my very recent stay at this hotel. It was absolutely perfect. There were 3 rooms reserved by 5 of us and we were there to attend my Grand daughters wedding. My son who lives there recommended staying here. The cleanliness was remarkable and the staff was so sweet, helpful, and caring about everything. You supply every single thing anyone could ever need in the gorgeous rooms. A special thank you to Crystal Aldred. Who went above and beyond the call of duty. Upon arriving until leaving … every minute there was a fantastic experience. I travel about 3 times a year and will promise you that I will always stay at your establishments. We normally stay at another well known ' Inn ' and they are nothing compared to you. The friendly staff and the complete atmosphere was everything anyone could hope for. Thank you so much and I look forward to my next stay with your firm. Clean and updated room. Comfy bed. No truck parking had to park in front of the hotel on the street. Good thing no one was parked there or I would have had to cancel my reservation.

I spent last night in room 213. My reservations was for a non-smoking room. I asked when I checked-in if the room was non-smoking; the front desk attendant confirmed it was non-smoking. ALERT: Room 213 is a SMOKING room. It does not have the non-smoking designation by the door which other rooms have. The room reeks. I am now home and all of my clothes are saturated with smoke. My son, who is sensitive to smoke, has a headache. I've alerted the front desk to this and they said they will inform the manager. As a customer, beware that Holiday Inn may put the clean the room, put the non-smoking sign on the door, but room will still have the smell. I have had good experiences with Holiday Inn Express, but this one hotel and instance was NOT good.

The hotel is kind of worn, I stayed on the 3rd floor and it smelled like Marijuana but no fault of the hotels. It is located in great location very populated with stores and restaurants.

If you are a non-smoker stay away. Right when you walk in the front door the smell of smokers from the second floor will knock you down.

We showed up at 2am and we were openly greeted, the man working the front desk was very polite and helpful. After such a long drive those beds (very comfortable without the drive) were amazing to lay down in! In the morning we had overslept a little past breakfast and the lady who works the breakfast stand was accommodating and extremely friendly! Overall a great stay for the short time we were there!

It is not one of the updated ones but everything functioned perfectly. This hotel was extremely clean and the staff was so very friendly and courteous and very helpful. My room was very comfortable so I slept soundly which is very important to me. The price was very reasonable. I cannot say anything negative because it was a very postive experience for me.
