The Studios have their own private entries into their respective units and have outside common areas with a shared kitchenette, consisting of a coffee maker, a refrigerator, microwave, a toaster oven, and an outside grill. Pots, pans and utensils are available for guests use.
The Shaka Shak Guest House offers 2 distinctly unique accommodations: The B&B style rooms are located on the 2nd floor of the Guest House with a main entry door. From the street, park your car across the property, behind the NO PARKING sign, closer to the rock wall. Access the Guest House through the Bamboo Gate, down the asphalt walkway across the yard to the stairs of the house. Multiple yard lights will guide your way. Not recommended for guests on wheelchairs or crutches.

Amazing stay for the family. Clean, close to everything. Great Host. Its the little things they do that make it special. Cynthia makes you feel at home. We couldn't find a hotel room and decided to give the shaka shak a try… glad we did. We will definitely go back. Thank you Cynthia!
Cynthia made our trip so amazing! She made maps of the island with great places to eat and everywhere we had to visit! There were places we did not even know about! Her house had such good energy as well! The price is beyond fair and you will feel so comfortable! So so recommend!

Lovely owner, very friendly. Nice settong slighlty outside Hilo but within easy distance of the town center. I would recommend hiring a car for getting about as seems to be no public transport. Hilo is apparently the wettest place the US so be prepared. Shaka Skak is a lovely place to stay but it needs some updating.
