We loved staying here! We are from Michigan and escaped the cold winter of January 2018. Two fabulous weeks, traveled the entire island. I can't wait to go back! Loved the house, the food, the atmosphere. But most of all the people. We celebrated our 20th Anniversary while in Hilo! Aloha!

"Oceanfront" is right! This place could not be closer to the water. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights this past week. My favorite part of our stay was how the sound of the waves lulled us to sleep each night. The town of Hilo and many restaurants are within walking distance (0.2 miles). Our room was beautiful with a very large bed, a 2-person table by the ocean-front window, and a one-person chair. We also had an in-suite bathroom (I believe all rooms do). Everell made us feel very welcome. He clearly enjoys taking care of people. He greeted us when we first parked, he offered to help with luggage, and he showed us to our room. I enjoyed chatting with him when I bumped into him from time to time during our stay. He's someone I would have a beer with. Breakfast in the morning was made to order with many options available. My wife and I got coconut macadamia nut pancakes both mornings, which were excellent. We received a fruit platter when we sat down each morning at the breakfast table with various fresh, delicious fruit on it. I wish I could have that every morning at home! One suggestion: It would be helpful to have more hooks to hang things in the bathroom. It was rainy one day when we were in town, and my wife and I didn't want to hang our damp clothes on the beautiful wood furniture to dry. The two hooks in the bathroom were occupied by our two towels. A few more hooks would be helpful. All in all it was a delightful stay.

So I picked this hotel because it offered free shuttle and breakfast and I was over whelmed with how beautiful it is. Just jump in a enjoy your trip near volcanos and the ocean we loved it.

This house is so amazing! My wife and I needed a place to stay on the whim and the owner certainly obliged. We were treated with arms wide open as well as treated to one of the most amazing views. We are so delighted we got to spend our anniversary here in hilo!

This is a awesome place to stay in Hilo. You feel very welcomed by the owners. We only stayed for one night, but would definitely loved to stay longer. The room we stayed in was so comfortable and relaxing. We could keep the windows open and hear the ocean waves. The breakfast was amazing. You have to try the macadamia coconut pancakes! Wow! They were Delicious.

My husband I and I spent 5 nights of our 15 night Big Island vacation at this charming B&B in Hilo. Proprietors Cheryl and Everell were wonderful hosts — they make you feel like family as soon as you walk into the house. Everell & Cheryl are very knowledgeable about the area so they will give you tips about places to visit, places to eat, vendor sponsored tours, etc. The B&B is right on the bay in downtown Hilo. We had the corner, oceanfront room so we went to sleep to the sound of the waves. The room was quite large and had a table and chairs by the window so we could enjoy the view of the bay. The B&B is convenient to downtown and it's a short drive to Volcanoes Nat'l Park and other natural wonders, waterfalls, etc. The house has been restored with modern conveniences, but it still retains the 1920's plantation style charm. Breakfast is very good and made fresh — they definitely send you on your way each morning full and ready to enjoy the natural wonders of the area. Great room and views. Most amazing breakfast!

This is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast. It is located just outside of downtown Hilo (2-min drive or 10-min walk). All major things to do (waterfalls, volcano, etc) are an easy drive away. The breakfast nook and some rooms offer a wonderful, one-of-a-kind ocean-front view. The rooms are well-maintained and each comes with its own bathroom. During our stay, we had the pleasure of socializing with other guests; however, if that isn't your thing, you'd still be perfectly fine here, as there were a few parties that just slipped into their rooms after a quick "hello". There is a shelf stocked with snacks, an area for coffee, and a refrigerator for leftovers or groceries. They also have umbrellas and snorkeling equipment to borrow, as well as a tiny library! The kitchen is open for guests to use, and offers a nice break from eating out every meal. The hosts, Cheryl and Everell, were welcoming, and happy to give advice about what to see or where to eat. They serve breakfast every morning, and I highly recommend trying the coconut macadamia-nut pancakes! You can tell that this place is something they deeply care about, as they are always working hard to ensure that guests have a good time. This was easily our favorite place to have stayed on our whole trip. I highly recommend checking them out for your next visit to Hilo.

The Bay House is a Beautiful Bed & Breakfast in Hilo Hawaii. All 3 rooms have private ocean lanais and super comfortable beds and furnishings. I felt like I was staying with really close friends.

We LOVED this place! Nicely set-up, welcoming and attentive owners, great cooked to order breakfast, and the best part was opening the windows in the room to hear the sound of the crashing waves 30 ft below. Very hard to leave the room, so comfortable and relaxing. Nice location also, just a short walk to town.

We enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of Tina & Tom Feb 2018. The trip to the Big Island was a birthday present to myself. They are the most gracious of hosts and the rooms are beautifully decorated in an Hawaiian island theme from the quilts on the beds to the art on the walls. The breakfast is so nicely presented and very tasty too. Our every need was well taken care of during our stay at the Bay House Bed and Breakfast. Do yourself a favor and stay here during your next visit to Hilo. Thank you Tina and Tom.

Beautiful room, great host! Breakfast was made to order! We forgot our flip flops there and Everell mailed them back to us in the states. Just a really great experience.

This hotel is adults only.

The waves make for the best white noise sleep imaginable. The breakfast is as yummy as it is filling. Our hosts were gracious and accommodating. The bed was softer than we would choose for ourselves but otherwise a perfect stay! You would be wise to stay here!

Lovely B&B, with a laid back friendly atmosphere. The proprietors were helpful and keen to share their local knowledge which enhanced our stay and helped us plan our day-trip activities to best effect.

Excellent bed and breakfast right on the water. Great host make you feel right at home in their beautiful home. The rooms are large and comfortable.

We were SUPER impressed with the amazing location and wonderful vibe we felt while we stayed here. Listening to the ocean outside our window was amazing and the view was just spectacular. The hosts are gracious and welcoming so we will certainly be returning.

Great friendly place with very nice breakfast.

The room was clean and the sounds of the ocean are very calming. Our host made us a tasty breakfast of macadamia nut pancakes and spam and spinach omelette. Very friendly! Definitely recommended.

Clean, comfortable, necessary amenities, friendly hosts. Delicious breakfast made to order! Lovely views of the bay. It's like we're hanging over the ocean. A little difficult to find the place. More signage would help.

This was a beautiful place to stay right next to Hilo Town walking distance. Listening to the ocean and watching the sunrise. Especially loved the old Hawaii feel of the house with the antique furniture and the creaky old floor loved it.

House is gorgeous and literally five feet from the Pacific, close to downtown area with lots to do. Owner is friendly, helpful and easy to talk to. Very comfortable environment, overall a pleasant experience.

Absolutely fantastic, highly recommend. Hosts are amazingly helpful and friendly, fed us well and had a great selection of teas and things for breakfast. House is being done up but even as is, beautiful, beds are comfy, shower is huge and it's an easy walk to town. The back of the main part of the house is literally about 2m from the cliff down to the sea. Again, well worth staying there.

My husband and I just returned from spending a week at this lovely B&B for our 40th wedding anniversary. Our room was lovely and the view magnificent. The bed was very comfortable and the décor was fun! We had a delicious breakfast every morning with local fruit. It is within walking distance to downtown Hilo and easy access to the rest of the Hilo area. The best part was our wonderful hosts. I would and have highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Hilo area.

Very nice room with extremely comfortable bed — tropical feel with fresh exotic (to me! ) flowers. Tasty breakfast. Wonderful views. There is no air conditioning, but our room had a lovely breeze that cooled us down pretty well (the ceiling fan helped as well). Temperature at night is excellent for sleeping. Do use the ear plugs provided when sleeping, as the sound of the surf and the frogs (very common around here I'm told) are quite loud at night. Overall, quite lovely.

The Hilo Bay House was the fourth B&B on our 3 1/2 week Hawaii trip and it was by far the best. Amazing bay view, beautiful rooms, delicious breakfast and wonderful hosts. Plus: If you stay there, the nearby 'Cafe Pesto' is a must-go!
