Reviews of North Charleston Lodge 2*
Was expecting a bigger room for the price we paid but it was last minute. Would’ve been nice to have a small refrigerator for personal use. Staff was nice. Room was clean. Pool was clean, but there should be an active lifeguard. Overall ok experience.
For the price, it was OK. Room 234, the sink cold water pressure was very low. Took forever to fill up a cup to brush your teeth. The bed mattress was very old. You could feel the springs when you tried to sleep. Other than that, you get what you pay for. I will probably pay a little more for a better room at a different location next time I come to Charleston.
Cockroaches in room. Smelled like cigarette smoke. Asked for smoke free room. Had heavy drinkers hanging outside the room all night. Had one guy sitting in his car starring at our window all night. Homeless people hanging in parking lot all night. My three kids were scared to death. They would not sleep. We left in the middle of the night because my kids were scared of the bugs and the people outside. This hotel should be ashamed of itself. I stayed at many motel 6 always enjoyed my stay. I would not recommend this to my enemy.
I am the Project Engineer for Big Dog Demolition. I reserved 2 rooms for 2 nights for my crew. The lady at the front desk, I believe her name was Nelly, was extremely rude. She had a very nasty tone of voice and got a attitude when I simply asked her a question. I then received a call from one of my crew members who said that he did not want to stay at this motel because Nelly seemed racist towards him. I called back and Nelly was pleasant until I told her who I was again, then she became nasty all over again. I told her I wanted to keep the rooms for tonight but the guys will not be staying another day, they will be going to another motel. Nelly is not a good employee and her customer service skills are incredible horrid. We will not be checking into this motel anymore. Businesses lose out on money because of employees like Nelly. We would have stayed until Fri morning but unfortunately she ran us away.
The floors were definitely not mopped before we got there. No refrigerator OR microwave in the room. They did have a central microwave in the office but who needs it if you can't keep your food cool. There's a pool that looked clean but I didn't personally use it. Check out is noon so that's cool and later than most motels. Great location though. Oh and they didn't have any 'do not disturb signs' so I made my own so they wouldn't go in the room without us there and they took it out and went in anyway… cleaned up but still didn't mop. So… bring some room/shower shoes and whatever food that doesn't need to be cooled or heated. They also have coffee in the office every morning until 10am.
I would love to have given 5 stars, but the overall cleanliness of the entire place leaves room for improvement. We were traveling on a strict budget and needed to be practical, Motel 6 is a place of practicality! I love it, however upon entering the parking lot there was a lot of trash in the parking lot. (Maybe they hadn’t had a chance to clean it yet) but whatever the place lacked in aesthetics it made up for in 2 key employees at the front desk, namely Jonah and Ali. Certainly an asset! We will come again and we will do what we always do, bring our our sheets, towels, garbage bags, clean our own room and help them leave the light on for others! Good job ladies!
I would not recommend. The room was clean but the rest of the hotel feels a little run down. When I got to my room they had put me in a smoking room that smelt horrible and I do not smoke. When I went down to get a non-smoking room they only had rooms that were $17 more because they had a fridge and microwave so I had to pay more. For almost $120 I could have stayed in a much nicer hotel. Other Motel 6s I’ve stayed in have been much nicer but this one was different. There seemed to be quite a bit of sketchy folks around and I had a guy banging loudly on my door at 3:30AM. The place just doesn’t feel very safe.
Very reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly. Smoking room smelled bad. But we moved to a non smoking w a fridge. That we were happy with. The only issue we had with the non smoking room is the sink wouldn't drain. Witch we found out the next morning. Called the front desk. We left for folly beach and when we got back it was fixed. 30 min drive from the beach. Booked the room last minute. So overall I'm pretty happy with the experience.
These comments are specifically for Motel 6 North Charleston SC. First thing we noticed was the sticky floor. It reminded me as if the floor was mopped with coke cola. Later that evening we heard water running and in the stand-in shower water was pouring out of the ceiling right above our stand-in shower. The people on the 2nd floor were bathing. Lastly, In the middle of the night my wife went to the bathroom turned on the light and black bugs were running in the room and bathroom. As soon as we turn on the light they scrambled back into the hole from which they came from. We finished sleeping the night with the room light on. This is the first Motel 6 we had any problems. All of our other stays in other different cities / states were just fine. While we do realize Motel 6 is a low $$$cost value room which is what we love about Motel 6 we do expect a clean room and clean comfy bed. With No Bugs.
If you're on a budget and are looking for a clean place that meets the bare minimum of what can be defined as a "hotel room", then this is your hotel! Located a mere 30 minutes from beautiful downtown Charleston, this Motel 6 features accommodations without unnecessary distractions such as complimentary shampoo, free Wi-Fi, or an actual bathtub. It's like camping, but with air conditioning! Be prepared for a truly sensory experience, as you'll delight in smelling odors, such as your neighbor's cigarette smoke wafting in through the thin walls! You'll also enjoy meeting your fellow guests, some of whom look like they may have gotten out of prison as recently as that morning! And finally, after a long day of driving (because anywhere worth visiting is so far away), you'll be able to wash off as you squeeze into a shower that was evidently designed for a small child. The rooms are very clean. Of course, it can't take that long to clean two pieces of furniture and a shower that would fit in most doll houses.
We only stayed one night but it was overall pleasant! No roaches, and the people who checked us in/out were very nice! (Especially Robert. ) The room was clean! The only thing I would suggest is that the they talk more about their policies while checking you in. If it weren't for us looking around we would have never known when to check out, and Wi-Fi wasn't offered to us.
Your staff was very courteous & helpful, especially Robert "Bobby". I was so very grateful to the Lord Jesus for being able to get this room when so many others in the area were already taken. The price was fair & the room was just right. Bless you all & thank you. With love in & from Jesus, Mrs. Cheryl Myrick.
I was dissappointed. The reviews were so good, but my stay wasn't. The room was filthy. The floors were disgusting, black feet getting into bed. The mattresses were comfortable and no sign of live insects, which is why I gave it 2 stars. Although my son did find an old dried up roach in the bedside bible. The renovation is nice to look at, but cheap and falling apart. Lots of moisture issues and signs of mildew everywhere. My boys sneezed nonstop. For what we spent, I will never go back! Its better to spend an additional $20 and have a better stay somewhere else.
I was there for a week and my toilet was clogged the whole time and anytime I called the front to get someone to fix it they would take hours to come and then it would only flush maybe 3 times after that. I even tried to switch rooms and they kept saying when one became available then they would but they never did so I decided to move to a different hotel. Other than that I had no problems there. They have even upgraded a few things in the hotel to make it look nicer.
Probably the worst motel room I have ever stayed in. I was told at check in that that toilet might be leaking and maintenance would be by to check it. I asked for another room but was told they were full. After entering the room the toilet appeared to be recaulked as maintenance left their dirty rag beside it. When he came by to check, it wasn’t leaking. I tried to turn on the shower and the plate behind it was falling out and you could only get scalding or cold water. After the shower the toilet began leaking again at the floor so I used towels to contain it. There was a large web with a big spider in it above the sink and the facing was curled and peeling off the dressers. I checked out after an hour and a half. I asked if I could get a refund but was told I had spent too much time in it. If it was a 40 Dollar room I wouldn’t be complaining, but this cost almost a hundred. I have pictures if you’re interested. Again the worst room I’ve ever stayed in. If there is any chance of being reimbursed please let me know.
I love this place. Immaculately clean, incredibly accommodating staff, beautiful grounds and pool. Will be staying again this December, and I get to bring my pets! Yes, it is on a busy street in a typical city, so the traffic is a bit busy at times and you will see laborers walking to and from the bus stops. There are NO "homeless people" or "thugs" like some reviews suggest. I just left a five star Hilton and this place is cleaner, safer and friendlier over all. Highly recommended.
The location was not good whatsoever. At 10:30 there was a man going door to door knocking and just made us feel even more uncomfortable. The floors where very dirty, and there was a hole in the corner in the bathroom where a LOT of bugs were coming through.
A lovely motel. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were well appointed with all the basic amenities. The bathroom was spacious, though I was given a disabled bathroom, and basic wash products were provided. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning was a welcome feature at night (in the height of summer). I would recommend this place as a cheap and cheerful option for staying fairly close to Charleston.
It was a good stay, price was good staff friendly and helpful. We had a shady man come to us on our checkout day and try to sell 2 phones, he didn't want to take no for an answer. He finally realized my husband ment no. We will stay here on our next trip to Charleston.
I liked it here for the most part. Location is terrible the traffic sucks balls. Outside of that it is clean and updated. The area is not a good area though and don't hope for a quiet night's sleep a bunch of construction workers here every night being super loud. However, with that being said the customer service here is wonderful. The housekeeping did an amazing job.
I had the most amazing weeks long stay at the Motel 6 on Ashley Phosphate Rd North Charleston SC. Everyone of the staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. My room was immaculate, and beautiful. I will return to this motel every time that I come home to visit. I will be requesting that room again. I give an AAA +++ Plus grade and rating to the staff of this very fine establishment. The grounds and pool are beautifully kept. Ample parking, and amenities. Security is top notch as well. Very satisfied guest here the value was awesome. Thank you very much for making this an excellent stay. See you soon C Seiler.
My room attendant rocked! I felt welcomed and put at ease to sleep comfortable before spending the holidays with my family. Defiantly will recommend to all.
I stayed two nights and asked for a late check-out and was told 1230 was the latest. I told that too the house keeper Sunday morning who cleaned room 248. She then came back and said she called the front office and they said I didn't ask for a late check out and that I had to go. I went to the front office and luckily the same girl who I spoke to about the late check out was there. I told her what was said and she said no that no one called and ask. It was good up until the housekeeper did what she did Sunday.
Front desk service was great. Cleaning service was good but forgot to replace my towel. Thankfully I had one of my own. Otherwise, it was nice for a motel. Good pressure on the shower!
Cheap and clean, but my room had a broken door knob so that if you shut it, you couldn't get out. I notified the welcome center and they said they would make sure to fix it right away. Also when one of the maids came into my room, she didn't supply any fresh towels and left the door open. Thankfully nothing was stolen. I will give 5 stars when maid service improves. Other than that, the place didn't seem run down at all and it even has an outdoor pool. Another plus is that the minimum age to check in is 18, which can be hard to find in Charleston. There's also a waffle house next door.
I liked the uncarpeted floors. Everything was clean. There was a problem with the shower curtain. It couldn't stay closed all the way. They didn't charge for our dog. Really love their pet policy. Will use Motel 6 again.
Our stay was for 4 days/3 nights. The staff was very accommodating and nice — I cannot say enough good things about them! Not to mention, I requested an early check in as I have a 2 year old and needed to get some work done — it was honored. I also requested a late check out by 1 hour and it was also honored. Very very helpful when working on the road with a toddler. Location is great — right next to the interstate. Coffee is offered in the lobby each morning. The room was nice and clean (we got one with a fridge and microwave). Each day, the Housekeeper came by to exchange our dirty towels/wash clothes and take the trash. Great group of people!
The reception was excellent. I don't recall his name but he really appreciates veterans and gave me the best offer. Because of him I appreciate Motel 6
The North Charleston site is beautiful! You can tell by the flooring and bathroom fixtures that it's recently been renovated. I could write a book about how helpful the staff are but I will summarize by saying that they feel like family to me!
I give this 5 stars, keeping in mind that it is a motel 6. There werent any "extras" in the room — no closet, no shampoo, etc. However, the room did look clean and the front desk staff were very friendly and nice. I asked for extra towels and they brought them right up. I was nervous about staying at a motel 6. It was the only place that had anything available at a reasonable price during the eclipse. However, I was relieved to find that the room was totally fine and I have no issues to complain of. As I mentioned before, the staff was really nice too.
Jonna Blackwell at the front desk was wonderful! She made the stay so pleasant. She was so friendly and helpful, nice smile and great personality. We appreciated her very much. The coffee was nice too in the morning in the office area :) (I was surprised there was no shampoo available in the room. Only soap. )
Old room, but clean. Out of Charleston.
The room was filthy. The laminate floors clearly had not been cleaned in a long time. There was mold all over the room: on the walls, on the shelves, on the phone. A previous guest had spilled something under the bed that went rancid. Called the front desk and asked them to clean the floor up and was told they would take care of it. Left the room for a few hours and came back and nothing was done. We would have gone somewhere else but the entire area was booked up for the eclipse. My husband decided to clean the floors himself with one of the washcloths. I've never seen a floor so disgusting. The first time he went over an area the cloth was black. He washed it out and went over the same area again and the cloth was still black. He repeated the process for the whole room until the rancid smell was gone. At least it wasn't carpet so we could clean it ourselves. The sink leaked. The towels had stains all over them; I hope they were actually clean. As bad as the rest of the room was I'm doubting our sheets were freshly laundered especially since my husband found a long hair in the bed as soon as we arrived. It was a roof over our heads for the night and that was it. Will never stay there again and do not recommend it if you can help it. Staff seemed nice except for not actually taking care of our request.
This motel is the reason our beach trip was horrible. We got to our room to find we had no mini fridge or microwave. Staff was less than helpful. Random strangers knocked on our door all night. We never even got to use the pool (which only goes up to 5 ft. ) Because they close so early. Shady people everywhere. Terrible terrible motel. Never stay here.
The front desk clerk was nice. The stay was horrible. My church had rooms blocked for our Sunday School convention. I trusted that everything was good. I had two granddaughters with me. A 3 year old and a 13 year old. The hardwood floor was dirty. I wiped the entire floor with a towel. Cleaned room with lysol. The TV did not work. They said it would be fixed the next day. It was not fixed. They offered me another room. We were only staying two nights. I only had one more night. Its was to much with the travel back and fourth to church. The girls had red bumps from something that bit them during the night after the second night. I wish I had left when I saw how dirty the floor was. I was refunded $30. However, I should get all of my $173.64 returned for living a real nightmare. Especially for my beautiful granddaughters.
Was a little worried about staying here because… it's a motel 6. But I was VERY pleased when we arrived. Martha is a wonderful person and was happy, polite, and helpful. Our room is a tad small. But we just stayed one night. Very clean room, didn't smell at all. All in all very good experience for the price.
Made a last minute trip. Stopped at this motel around 2 am. 83. And some change I spent. Stepped in and immediatley had to kill a roach runnin in. Then my girlfriend and I stayed up and played cards after having killed 5 roaches within the first hour we decided it was time to go. We checked out and the man in the office told me they would inspect and if they found any evidence of roaches I would get a refund. After calling 3 times and never getting to speak to the woman "Jonna" who was supposed to be able to help settle my issue of spending on a motel I didn't stay at they told me there was no sign of roaches. Then I realized I should have taken pictures. These people clearly are okay with dissapointed trips to their facility. Take caution when getting a room here they seem sketchy and not so friendly.
The check in people were horrible to my friend, even though I called and gave them his name and check in info. It was an ugly experience for both of us, and even though I reported the problem the next day, I'm fairly sure htey didn't do anything. They certainly didn't make it OK with me. Don't stay here!
Margaret was the just the nicest. The room was clean. The service was excellent. My grandma has a hard time getting up and down stairs but upstairs was the only room available. Margaret brought us an extra blanket. We ordered food and our delivery driver did not bring utensils. She was kind enough to bring us those so my grandma didn't have to walk up and down the stairs again. Excellent service thank you!
This is a really good Motel 6 to stay at. It is clean, reasonably comfortable and safe. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The parking lot is well lit at night and the pool area is excellent. Big bang for the buck!
I love this Motel 6, in North Charleston, SC. It's in a city I've found I love as a vacation-place when I can afford to vacation outside of Winston-Salem, NC. This Motel 6 is in a good (i. E. Reasonably safe and reliable) part of town (ok, let's face it — even the nicer _big_ cities are usually gonna have 1 or 2 maybe-unsafe places). It's — — in my opinion — — practically a "Holiday Inn" of Motel 6's, in terms of its cleanliness, quietness (even if you do occasionally faintly hear a jet plane:) ), safety, comfort, politeness, and relatively easy driving-access to the Old City and to the beaches.
Well! our experience was pretty bad! first cus we reserve a room with microwave and refrigerator. And we got there we had to wait more then one hour to get us a room then there wasn't any microwave or refrigerator. Next day we went out. And the house keeper came in to clean the room! so my daughter's gold necklace was disappeared! and some of them are so ruled! we really hate it this place so I don't recommend be careful with your stuff!
First of all, this is a Motel 6, not a Hilton. That said, I only wanted to pay for a bed and a place to shower and park my car. I got all three and the price was right. Plus, the staff, especially the front office staff, impressed me. They were very professional and extremely friendly and helpful.
If you like Section 8 housing, you'll love this place! From the thug who tried to lure my wife into his room with some lame trick, to all the crackhead ex-con looking weirdos hanging around the walkways like lot lizards, smoking, drinking, and stumbling around. I literally slept with a handgun beside my bed. The rooms were ok for the price, but smelled like a cigarette factory. We tried two "non-smoking" rooms, that both had ashtrays, and could barely stand it. I travel frequently, am in the military, and would never stay here again. I truly hope my experience was atypical.
After some miscommunication with our reservation, General Manager, Jonna Blackwell took control and resolved all our problems. She was extremely polite, and very concerned about our welfare. Very professional, and an asset to your company. Kindly forward our comments to her. Room was great, the exterior parking area was well maintained.
Rooms are small and so is tha brains of tha women working here. Most are trashy. And have tatoos There's alota Obama voters screaming to quantavious at tha other end of parking lot while Thay stand nex to ur door at all hours of tha nite Involving everyone in Thay bezines as Usual The beds are springy and uncomfortable The police seem to be up here alot helping Themb with There bizines alot as usual some times ur phone rings late at night with kaneesha looking for a date The internet says free Wi-Fi but its actually not u have to dig around to find this out and u have to pay over internet u can't jus pay at office So its more like a bait in switch This is a 35 dolla a nite after taxes not a 70 dollar a nite hotel the sink an tub clogged with very minimal use This place don't empress me much.
Was told there was free Wi-Fi… nope. Then found a spider which is acceptable but a few hours later I left due to cochroachs.
Rooms are ok, a little small. Biggest letdown was no Wi-Fi, or that Wi-Fi costs extra esp. In this day and age.
Very rude service. I called Thursday night and spoke to a very kind gentlemen and booked my reservation with him through the phone he said I had until the next day to cancel. I hung up and found a hotel with a better deal and maybe 20 minutes later I called back to cancel. A women answered the phone and her name was Tiffany. I told her I literally just called but needed to cancel the reservation I made. I gave her my name and she said "okay". I said "that's it"? And she said yes and I said okay thanks. There's was a charge to my card still the next week. I called and Tiffany answered the phone. I told her everything and she said kept saying I booked it online even when I told her I spoke to a gentlemen on the phone that works there. She said she will get the manager to call me back. The manager never did. Tiffany called back and said they have no record showing I canceled. I said I called and canceled that same night. She said I should've gotten a cancellation number but I told her she never gave me one, she just said okay to me. She said either way we will give you the refund this one time but next time you'll need a number. I said oh, okay well thanks and she hung up without saying anything. Just very rude and she was calling me a liar behind words bringing up every excuse because she knew she was the one who messed up. But the second time she was short and just hung up when I called. I'm glad I did not stay there.
My experience here was horrible! I reserved a room on a Wednesday for the following Fri and Sat. I gave them my credit card number and I specifically asked them if they took anything off the card because I wanted to pay cash. The man told me the only way they take anything off is if you don't show up. So Fri night I called the front desk around 9:00 and told them I was on my way that it would take another 3 hours to get there. I also told them I was paying cash when I got there and not to charge my card. Well when I arrived they had charged my card and put that I was a no-show! I wanted to pay cash because I didn't make it to the bank Fri before they closed and it put my account in the negatives. So the man at the front desk says he hasn't heard anything about me calling saying I was on my way, I then asked him to please refund the money to my card and he supposedly done so. I got checked in and went to my room and it was literally like a closest. It was horrific! It stunk, the bathroom was very dirty, the air didn't work properly and there were people in the room next to me being very load all night. It wasn't worth paying $20 a night, let alone $80! This morning which is Monday I went to the bank to see if the money was refunded and there is no sign of it whatsoever! I am PISSED! I then called the manager at the motel 6 and she tells me the man never refunded my money and that corporate office had to do it and it would take 7 to 10 business days!
Welp, zero wasn't an option! This place has ANTS and some other kind of bug that I've never seen before. The picture you see above you is VERY MISLEADING! There is also a short caucasion male that works here who is less than friendly and helpful to those traveling out of town, and in need of help in the middle of the night. Hated it.
This motel is the reason our beach trip was horrible. We got to our room to find we had no mini fridge or microwave. Staff was less than helpful. Woke up itching. Random strangers knocked on our door all night. We never even got to use the pool (which only goes up to 5 ft. ) Because they close so early. Shady people everywhere. Terrible terrible motel. Never stay here.
It's OK. The bed was comfortable. The pressure from the shower head was great. The staff was friendly. The smell wasn't the greatest. The "comforter" (if that is what you want to call that THIN piece of material) was dirty. The carpet was stained (afraid to know from what) and I didn't want to be barefoot on it. The AC, even when in the HIGH COOL position, acted like it was on LOW. Stayed hot at night when trying to sleep, even after keeping the top "comforter" off. No Do Not Disturb sign for the door (a real pet peeve of mine since I don't like room service coming in while we are gone). No bath tub, stand up shower only. Reserved a room with a queen bed. However, the bed was just a full size bed. Couldn't switch rooms because they were completely booked. Ps. I have pictures to prove.
We checked in on the fourth of July. We were running a little late for our dinner with our nephew in the navy, so we just opened the door and put our stuff in the room and left for our dinner. When we returned later that evening, we discovered that our QUEEN bed was not there. It was a long full size bed. (hello) when I called the desk the woman told me that no, it was a queen bed. Again (hello) i'm in the room looking at a bed that my two dogs would have trouble sleeping in. No fix, just talk to manager in morning. Ah. Grouchy sore morning. Decide to have breakfast which I had put in the fridge. Frozen. Along with the 2 quarts of tomatoes picked on Friday and the melon that was picked on Friday. No breakfast,, down to talk to the manager. Manager apologized profusely and assured us that as soon as she could get through to Expedia our money would be refunded. Then a week later I get an e mail from Expedia that says the motel WOULD NOT refund my money. Waiting for chapter TWO. And Tom Bodette could care less, because he left the light on shining under the door through a 1" gap.
This is great place to stay, clean where it needs to be, warm or cool where it needs to be, price is great, staff is great. Showers, you can not believe the water pressure. It is on a busy street and in the flight path of a major airport, that's not the hotels fault. Many people abuse these reviews but let's face it your staying at Motel 6 for under $100 bucks a night, it's not going to be a 5 star place and everyone should know that going into it. If you need or want a GREAT price for a room go here. If your looking for mint's on your 20 pillows and paying $450. A night go else where. Keep up the great work your doing GREAT.

The Price is Right in this time of the year. The room was clean very clean the showers everything bathroom is totally clean no dust anywhere definitely no dirt. And the concierge was very nice. And asked if I needed anything else if I did just call pick up the phone and call and it would be brought to me well thank you. Slept like a log at checkout just as courteous I'd recommend Motel 6 anybody even a stranger thanks again people Raymond.
