Phenomenal Hotel, Service, food and Shopping. My only bad experience is with the extra firm mattress. It made sleeping painful and uncomfortable. I asked for a topper; no response, called back, after, dining out-A Housekeeper responded with a couple of mattress covers. This did not help, at, all. I, still, recommend this place and will return!

We took our 3 daughters with us to celebrate our 7 year anniversary and it was the most relaxing experience knowing we were staying at a hotel with superb cleaning, helpful employees, wonderful room service and a safe environment. My wife and I stayed in a corner suite. We both caught the flu bug and were bed ridden. We had a chance to really live in our rooms. Hotel is fantastic, the staff is unbelievably professional while still warm and engaging.

The well appointed rooms, very good food and shopping in town. We are here to enjoy the SEWE exhibits and a fun family staycation. The pool and spa are amazing.

Service from staff goes above and beyond expectations. Very personable, friendly and helpful. The best hotel experience we have ever experienced. Better than the Ritz in Paris, the Peabody, the Brown Hotel, and the Heritage to name a few where we have stayed on the club floor.

We just celebrated our anniversary at The Belmond Charleston Place this weekend, and they went above and beyond in making the night festive and us feel special. From the surprise champagne and cake delivered to our room, to the unexpected dessert at brunch the next morning, it was all a treat. Add to that impeccable service, from the registration desk to the servers in the restaurant. It was a flawless and memorable stay and left us wanting to come back for every anniversary!

We love this place! Every year we celebrate our anniversary by staying on the club level here. The service and food are great! We’ve gotten to know the staff over the years so it’s always like a little reunion.

We had an awesome stay here. In terms of location, building quality, restaurants, service, friendliness of the staff, the Belmond Charlston Place is far superior to all the other properties we have stayed at in SC and Georgia. The room was very well appointed, spacious and clean. Water pressure in the shower was excellent as was the hot water supply. Absolutely no complaints. Highly recommended!

Service in The Palmetto Cafe was not on point. If I’m spending $32.75 (with tip) on a breakfast buffet, I should not have to flag down a server to ask for a glass of water and some coffee. Had I not flagged the server from another section I probably could have completed my meal before seeing my server. The rest of my stay was top notch per usual.

This was our second stay at the Belmond and I highly recommend it. In our opinion, it's the nicest hotel in Charleston and the location is central to everything. The staff is super friendly and it is located right across the street from the famous market. They upgraded us to a suite this time, which was gorgeous. We just celebrated our 15th Wedding Anniversary here and were VERY pleased with the entire hotel. Great room, great staff, great spa services, etc. There was not one aspect I would change. Everyone was so attentive and kind. We were very pleased with the room and location. We walked everywhere due to how close it is to shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic, luxurious getaway. We did not eat at the hotel for various reasons, but did have coffee at their coffee shop (there is also a Starbucks across the street). We hope to be back in the near future.

I really enjoy our performances at the Belmond Charleston Place hotel as Margeaux and her staff are so friendly and accommodating. They are organized and pay attention to detail which makes our performances enjoyable, as we don't have to sweat the small stuff. Thank you for caring and making such a positive difference.

Beautiful hotel! Staff was very kind and helpful. I loved the SPA! I also loved that Louis Vuitton & Gucci was SUPER CLOSE! Along with a lot of other store on the same street!

We absolutely loved our stay! The gentleman who checked us in was really amazing. He went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was unforgettable, and after getting some information regarding our culinary moods, recommended a restaurant and made our dinner reservations — a dinner we thoroughly enjoyed! The entire staff in the Club Level was superb. They were very attentive and always extremely kind. Our suite (8B) was outstanding! We also could not have asked for a better location and amenities… We will definitely be returning!

Very beautiful rooms and the staff was very helpful in assisting me in locating items not available at the hotel.

This place is no good and at $600 a night it's a rip off. First, the room itself is out dated. Think the Ritz in the early 90's. The 'suite' was a fine size with living area and separate bedroom but the room with the bed didn't have a window or a real closet. The furniture is not in good condition and relatively uncomfortable. Second, the toilet was leaking upon arrival. Don't get me wrong, things happen and I'm more than happy to tighten a valve or jiggle a handle to fix a toilet but this was water pouring out the top of the toilet. When someone came to fix it they left a mess, dirty footprints, and, honestly, it started the weekend off on a bad note. Third, there was no hot water on arrival. We called downstairs where they assured us we would be contacted in no more than 4 minutes (they said four, I wasn't going to time them). An hour later with no update I called back and was connected with a different front desk manager so I explained the situation again. They sent someone, he left, still not hot water. It went on for a few hours all while they were checking if another room was available. The solution was to leave the shower and sink running for a solid few minutes before the shower would have warm water. Remember 600 bucks a night. No new room ever became available. Finally, and by this time I'm just unhappy about my hotel selection, the room was over an outdoor patio where people smoked cigarettes day and night. Neat!

Service from the Valet, to the Bellman, Front desk, maids, and concierge all very nice. Good location for walks to most historical areas of city. Got to try the pedi-cabs once you get tired of walking. Good access to dog walking areas. City and most of the beaches very dog friendly. A little expensive but the club floors are worth it. Amazing hotel! The location is perfect in the heart of historic Charleston with shopping and dining just out the front door (and on the lobby level). The hotel and rooms are stunning! The amenities are also amazing and the service is impeccable. While we were there for our last visit, I noticed a small book in the room that highlighted all Belmond locations. I wasn't sure if I could take it so at check-out I asked the front desk if they had copies available to take. The staff wasn't sure which book I was referencing but I didn't want to be difficult so I told them I'd just browse the website (even though they tried to accommodate my request several times by getting me another key to the room to go get the book… We were in a hurry so I said nbd). Well, about a week later the book showed up at my home! The front desk staff took it upon themselves to accommodate me even after I had left the hotel. Absolutely amazing service — and for something so small but I am so glad I have it to look through! The spa was lovely. The Palmetto cafe was delicious! The house keeping including evening turn-down service was awesome. I cannot speak highly enough. Love this hotel!

Absolutely beautiful property but don't go shopping in the shops… We purchased a few items from the high end stores and left a pair of shoes in the room when we checked out. I called only four hours later and they completely disappeared… I went back and forth with the hotel security and no one was able to give me any answers. Even after checking the "cameras" I'm completely bewildered that a hotel at this caliber could handle guests so poorly and not be able to offer any solution. The pair of shoes that were left that were brand new were a $1200 pair of Gucci shoes. Which I'm sure the room addenant is enjoying… I've now been given the direction to make a police report and call American Express. Not very high end customer service at all! Save your money and stay in one of the nicer boutique hotels near by.

Fantastic room, club level food was amazing. Pool was very cold the first night but was better the following morning. Good experience overall.

Great place to stay, love the Ambassador Suite. Also love the bar upstairs during happy hour and the Thoroughbred Club is great for catching a quick bite as well. Great location in walking distance to world class shopping and restaurants and all that Charleston has to offer!

We went in for a spa day and it was horrific. They were cutting tile the entire time we were in our massage and massive construction was taking place in the spa. The entire men's locker room was shut down due to construction and so my husband couldn't use the steam room or the sauna. We went there to relax and the opposite took place we listened to construction during our massage. There was zero hospitality. For a $500 day, it was not worth the money. The experience was horrible and I wish I had just gone to a Massage Envy. Never again will we go to the spa at the Belmond. We reached out to the staff to relay the feedback and they completely ignored it. The customer service is horrible. Tourists… spend your money at Francis Marion spa instead!

I actually worked here and the coworkers were great but the manager was very rude and not understanding. She was condescending and crude. The lunch was great though and the work was medium but only getting paid 8 dollars to check 400 rooms in 5 hours (if you stay any longer they cut your hours) and restock, wasn't worth it. Not to mention the employee bathroom downstairs was so nasty it was dangerous. On a quick glance it looked neat and tidy till you looked deeper at the snow like mold growing on the toilet paper holder and all the mold suffocating the bathroom. By the time enough people see the dangers of this bathroom they probably will have it cleaned up at soon as they read this post but informing other that everything isn't what it seems in these fancy restaurants is my only goal.

Attended for 2 day, 2 night work event. Room was nice and comfortable, and the staff was extremely attentive. Zero issues. I will note that the entrance off Meeting Street was easy to miss, bit hey, Charleston is a beautiful city, so an extra 5 minutes circling the Market isn't so bad!

The rooms are wonderfully appointed. Every member of the staff has been very helpful and welcoming. I can't find a single fault with our stay. The venue has been great for the conference. Oh and room service is lovely, I recommend the french toast!

They were the sweetest to us! Upgraded us to the club house in the top floors for our honeymoon and we had free food and alcohol for the while trip. Such a treat. The staff was very kind and helpful. We'll be going back!

Great hotel, loved the pool, location, spa & restaurants. Would stay here again for sure except I would be more cautious of my things. My straightener was stolen out of my room however. Security lacked in helping me. Wished the hotel would have done a little more than their "investigation" to help me with this. Expected more out of a hotel of this nice.

Throughout the years this hotel has remained one of the best. Services and amenities are always on point along with friendly staff. Central location, two places to dine (do also venture out, it's Charleston after all), shopping, and one swanky bar make this a great stay.

Wife and I stayed for two nights. Every staff member was friendly and professional. Our room was spacious and very well appointed. The facility was beautifully decorated, the location and amenities were our main reason for choosing the hotel. Close proximity to the Market, walking distance to Liberty port and the surrounding shops. Would definitely stay again and look forward to visiting Charleston again!

We were married in Charleston and made reservations to stay here. When we arrived the staff found out our plans and upgraded us to the presidential suite. Absolutely amazing. The staff took phenomenal care of us during the entire stay. The hotel is gorgeous and located within walking distance to everything we needed. Thank you so much for making our wedding and honeymoon even more memorable.

If you're willing to spend a little bit more in Charleston on a place to stay this is it. A stunning lobby and fantastic staff. Rooms that look (and feel) like mini palaces and of course the expansive gym and outdoor salt infinity pool will make you want to stay in Charleston Place just a little bit longer.

Was not a guest however found the lobby and shopping areas spectacular to the eye. Ate lunch at the cafe. The hamburger was amazing and enormous. The prices are a little high, but the quality was well worth it. The staff was top-notch and the service was impeccable. Stayed across the street at a another hotel and realized that the prices at the Belmont were actually cheaper and the rooms looked to be more luxurious.

Having only spent one night here, my experience isn't extensive, but generally positive: Our family loved the adjoining rooms which were luxuriously decorated without being stuffy. The bell staff was fast, and super nice. The gym is nice and bright. The area is great, and the actual site of the hotel is gracious with a courtyard entryway hidden from the urban setting which feels special. But, the surrounding restaraunts were certainly more charming in appearance than The hotel's. The atmosphere feels a little like a LasVegas hotel once inside, meaning not necessarily as cozy as I anticipated. Feels a bit like you're in a mall since the shops are so connected, which I think I didn't actually like. I might give it another chance, perhaps without the children. All of our interactions with the staff made it pleasant and worth trying again.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Perfect location centered in all the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston shopping. Service was impeccable at both hotel, brunch, and coffee stand. Speaking of coffee, it isn't included in your room. Nope. You have to go downstairs to a coffee stand (more like a miniature coffee shop inside of a closet), stand in line, and pay. Thankfully they accept room charge as I was not expecting this. And I personally prefer to acquire my coffee while in pajamas and wish unbrushed hair. Parking is not included either. Two things that should definitely be included with the price. Room was absolutely gorgeous. I could live in that bathroom. Well appointed with marble tile and rainfall shower. Had a view overlooking the courtyard, which was nice as well. Will have to try the spa during my next visit!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Belmond Charleston Place Hotel for our wedding anniversary. All I can say is that everything at this hotel, from the staff, the room, amenities, and the restaurants exceeded our expectations. This is truly a world class hotel in the heart of downtown Charleston. For any perspective guests, if you can get Club level rooms, I can't recommend this option enoguh. The extra amenities were absolutely fantastic.

5 star service throughout our multiple stays here. Staff are always friendly, competent and ready to assist in any way. Rooms were recently renovated (marble walk-in showers for the win) and location in downtown Charleston couldn't be better. Highly recommend.

Amazing hotel! The entry driveway and lobby were beautiful, and we were upgraded for free to an amazing 1-bedroom corner suite with really great views. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was huge and really nice. Everyone we met was very friendly and welcoming, and we also enjoyed the location being right downtown between Kings Street and the Market. This is definitely a high-class hotel, and I would easily recommend it to anyone!

Great location, nice enough staff for 3 to 4 stars, 3 star interior spaces and decor, 1 star management — poor at best, and 3 star spa. The hotel is under construction. I didn't hold that against them, but some might. We had air conditioning problems in our room. Had to call service tech to room twice before getting it fixed. Didn't really hold that against them either.

C'mon… Not luxury, high price and average. The bell service was great and room was clean. I booked through United Airlines Mileage rewards site. I clearly had two reservation options, (1) option that included (1) bed deluxe room or a completely separate option that said (1) or (2) bed type Deluxe Room. I chose the (1) bed deluxe room, in order to secure a (1) bed reservation for stay on wife's birthday. Upon check in, I'm told we only have (2) bed Deluxe rooms left but that I could pay $50 more for an upgraded room with (1) bed and balcony. I reminded that I clearly had in my hand a reservation that stated (1) bed Deluxe room and inquired if I would now be charged more, as the hotel was unable to abide to the booking that was made through an authorized partner? Yes sir, unless you would like the (2) beds. At this point, the hotel had a decision to make regarding the difference between standard customer service or setting themselves apart and earning repeat business. They chose to stick to a $50 upcharge that was no upgrade. Poor move for a "luxury" hotel. Again, my wife's birthday and not going to waste additional time at check in. Next, your upgraded room is not ready, we'll call you. It was 2:30 and check in is not until 4, so understandable. We have dinner reservation at 5, before play at charleston stage and would like a call as soon as we can enter room. We walk around market and wait, wait, wondering when it will be ready.

Staying at this hotel was one of the best things I have ever done. I stayed here with my wife for our anniversary, and it was the best decision we could have made. The hotel itself was beautiful, and being in a short walking distance to many shops and restaurants adds to its beauty and makes it so much more relaxing. The staff was friendly and helpful. I definitely highly recommend this for any vacation or even business travel.

What an awesome experience my wife and I had at the Belmond Charleston Place! Perfect location, outstanding service, delicious food, fancy lounge with pianist, comfy bed,. And the list goes on, 5* A+ for every department, and to all the staff.

Fantastic experience working with the Belmond staff on a commercial. Our crew were guests in the hotel as well. The hotel staff were gracious, accommodating and overall, just a well run ship!

It is a lovely hotel and the staff is quite friendly. Unfortunately, it the hotel is undergoing remodeling and our room was smack in the middle of it. I felt like we were placed way out of the way and if you wanted to go back to your room during the day you had to weave through painters. Numerous rooms on either side of us were empty due to the renovation. The hotel should have closed off wings completely until work is through so that guests don't have to smell paint or listen to workers.

I have stayed at most 4 and 5 star hotels in Charleston. I watch dollars and have chosen the best deal these hotels have to offer. The Belmond is typically 10% higher. After this visit I believe this hotel to be worth much more. It is a value proposition and theirs cannot be approached. The staff treat you like a friend. Not over the top, friendly and natural. The place is simply beautiful. Spotless. The spa, the bars, facilities are the best. Last night, a knock on the door and a few chocolates with a note, "welcome back. " When was the last time a hotel did this for you? No more shopping. No more settling. I am now a loyalist to this place for it is the best for just a little bit more.

We visited here on our honeymoon in a king balcony room and loved our stay. We experienced all we would expect and more. The service is phenomenal, the room service is prompt, everything is very clean, and there is a very elegant atmosphere. The food is fantastic, we ordered quite a bit of room service and did not have anything we didn't like. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. We would love to visit here again in the future.

Do not stay here while they are renovating. My newly renovated room is gorgeous but when I leave my room there are construction workers everywhere, paint fumes, and construction dust flying everywhere. Yes, the mattresses are crummy.

Wonderful hotel! I stayed there 3 years ago (and am coming back in July) with my wife and dog. This is not your typical pet-friendly hotel — The staff was actually FRIENDLY to the dog, even though he is a 115 pound Rottweiler. Sweetest dog I've ever had and the staff quickly picked up on that. They were a little concerned about him when we first arrived (because he's a LARGE dog and some people have negative perceptions of Rott's), but by the end of the first day everyone was calling him by name and constantly wanting to pet him. The service was outstanding. We had a suite that even included a water bowl for the dog (the bidet — lol! ). One night we decided to stay in and order room service from the Charleston Grill and it was fantastic, although I did get a very puzzled "You want WHAT with that? " when I ordered a large side of french fries with an otherwise elegant dinner. It was for the dog — He loves fries — and that got quite the chuckle from the girl taking the order. We can't wait to return this summer.

Stayed on the 7th floor where they were still renovating, so it was loud. The matress was terrible, it felt like one of those cheap matresses in a budget hotel. I had to buy my own pillow during my stay because the pillows sucked. My head would sinked right into the matress because the pillows barely had cushion. Overall the entire bed set up felt cheap and uncomfortable. Bathroom fixtures were disgusting, as they were green mixed with some white coating in the crevices. It seems like the walls were thin due to the fact I could hear the occupants in neighboring room, hear every conversation they had, and I could also hear them eating. Also there was no microwave or refrigerator. One good thing about Belmond is they location. It is in a great location with great places shops and eat. Other than that I wouldn't stay here again.

Great hotel and location, best coffee in Charleston.

Do yourself a favor and stay here. Great rooms, great service and you are in the middle of everything. We did have a small hiccup when we arrived but the manager Kevin took care of that and made our stay more than incredible. If the spa is your thing, you won't be disappointed. I recommend this place to anyone who wants the true charleston experience if money isn't an option. This was our second time here and we will be coming bask very soon with more people. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Better hotels for the money. Location, location, location but they certainly take advantage. Pay for the cab! Then again. If you are into flashy, it certainly is NEW south w/o old south manners or style.

Beautiful hotel in downtown within walking distance of most of the quality restaurants and bars. The facilities were pretty good, including the banquet rooms. Not too many modern conveniences in the rooms. Dining and bar staff were fairly rude. Had an issue where my customer incorrectly booked a room for a night earlier than I was to arrive. Even though front desk person said they would adjust my folio, accounting department billed my credit card for the extra night. Tried working with them to reduce the rate and gave them every opportunity to win some future business. But, they explicitly told me that they would rather make a higher rate with that previous stay knowing that they will lose a potential frequent customer for life. So, that was my first and last stay at the Charleston Place Hotel.
