It was the prettiest Hampton Inn we've stayed in. Very convenient location.

We had a long weekend trip here over labor day. Older hotel but this building was previously a historic building before becoming a Hampton Inn. Overall a very nice hotel. Rooms were great and clean. Breakfast was typical breakfast but vert well done. There is a $20 a night parking fee that you are responsible for. Front desk and housekeeping staff is great.

Location is great, within walking distance of most of the peninsula. However, the hotel is dated. The rooms needs renovation, the HVAC doesn't function well and I hate that feeling of hot and cold at the same time. Bed is worn and well used. Staff and location are the 2 shining spot of this hotel.

Room was dated. Saw two roaches in room. One in bathroom and one in closet. There was a heavy duty clear tape on the outside of tub that was connected to the wall. Air conditioner never shut off the entire one night stay. Sheets on one of the queen size beds did not entirely cover the mattress. Mattress pad also did not cover mattress so that one the sides it was exposed. On the plus side the hotel is in a wonderful location close to shopping and restaurants. There is also a very nice courtyard. Staff are friendly and helpful. Please get this hotel completely renovated! It could be lovely!

Gone way downhill. My family has stayed at this hotel many times over the past 17 years and we always came back because we loved it. It felt like a good value and a nice place. But we are staying here right now and I can’t believe how much worse it seems than the last time we were here. This room has water damage along the bathroom walls, the bathroom door doesn’t even stay shut, the internet is terrible, and the cost was nearly 300 for one night in one room. Still a great location but just not worth it.

Came to Charleston for a wedding and stayed at this hotel. I cannot say enough good about our stay. The location was ideal within walking distance of everything and anything you need including fabulous restaurants. The staff showed that Southern hospitality to the max. Rooms were clean and very quiet even though hotel was quite booked. The breakfast every morning was delicious with a great variety of foods to accommodate any diet. And I can’t finish this review without talking about Henry. He is the mayor of this Hampton Inn, friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and entertaining. This place will not disappoint.

Everything was fantastic! I was greeted by both the excellent doorman and I was able to change in early at 1:30pm. I was going to a concert which just happened to be right next door to the hotel. Very nice layout of food for breakfast and plenty of room to enjoy it. Free WSJ and USA today. The room was very clean and we'll stocked with towels and toilet tries. The only small complaint would be the usual low flow shower head. Thumbs way up!

We enjoyed staying here. The staff is very friendly. The breakfasts were pretty good. We were able to walk all over town from there. Nice patio and pool.

Good sized room. Service is lovely. Not fancy, but far better than affordable options I've experienced in the past.

Having stayed here a number of times I got the service that I have come to expect. My biggest issue with the stay was the Wi-Fi. While it was up and running most days, there were a handful of times that I couldn't connect. The staff was helpful and polite, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Overall a good stay.

Hilton hotels provide outstanding accommodations. As Hilton Honors members we often get room upgrades but regular accommodations are equally good. Friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed, free breakfast. Historic building in great location, central to most attractions. You can walk to the shops on King, historic district, and waterfront. Free shuttle service directly across the street from this hotel. Visitor center across the street also. Highly recommend.

Regular hotel, big and comfortable rooms (they have roll in beds). Nice staff and great location Breakfast left something to be desired.

Great central location. The breakfast was included. We made homemade waffles. The pool area was nice too.

Excellent location but this place is all about the staff. I stayed on my own on the 24th February nothing was too much trouble the staff were friendly and happy and nothing was nothing was too much trouble. They had good local knowledge. The hotel was clean would love to go back soon. K x.

Great location, clean rooms, might need a little attentions on the bathrooms (wheb we arrived it was not really greatly clean). Love the staff, really helpful. Downside no private parking lot, so if you stay for a long period of time that may be expensive.

Place could use a good cleaning and the rooms updated. Plus you have to pay to park. Which should be included.

No mini fridge in the room and there was a strange LOUD noise that occurred every few minutes in the morning (maybe from construction? ). But overall, a nice stay and a great location. Very friendly staff. Parking garage is nice too.

Very pleasant employees and super clean. Had a glitch w/ heat/ac but they fixed it asap. Only complaint was no soap dish on bathroom counter so that's pretty good.

Stayed one night. Had a reservation, my train into town arrived late so got to the hotel almost three hours later then planned, they held my room with no problem. Room was small but very comfortable with king size bed. Hotel offers free breakfast buffet. Would recommend this hotel.

After the first night, we had a problem with the heat in the room. The front desk was very accommodating and got us a new room right away. They even upgraded us from a King to a King with Sofa, which was a larger room. Everyone at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Great rooms, beds, staff. Came to stay for a night and decided to stay another night just because of the great customer service! Definitely a home away from home. And highly recommended for a nice visit or getaway. Surely will visit location again very soon.

Nice mid range downtown hotel. Very nice and responsive employees. The rooms are nice and the free breakfast is decent. Might visit again, but we like to try new places, so maybe in a few years.

The stay at this hotel went really good! Everything was clean, neat, and the staff was very nice. I really don't have anything negative to say about our stay here. Plus it's a bonus that we we're so close to shops and nightlife. It was all within a reasonable walking distance.

Stayed here a couple times and really liked it. Staff are extremely friendly, and has a great breakfast buffet. Rooms are nice and pool is pretty good. Easy parking, though not all that close to town.

Have to give the Hampton Inn Charleston Historic District high marks for its convenient location to free shuttles, historic buildings, great restaurants and major highways. Plenty of thirsty towels and bedpillows. Mattresses are very comfortable. Staff is attentive and helpful. Continental breakfast has more available seating and greater assortment of pasteries than most others. Scrambled eggs are the dry mix type. We had to request a different room due to extreme musty smell. Odor suggests a water leak/dampness that has created a mildew problem. The switch was made w/o any problem but should not be assigned until problem corrected.

Front desk staff was very friendly. Rooms were decent. The a/c in our room wasn't cooling properly, when we got back at around 10, our room felt humid and warm. Called the front desk and they sent a maintenance man. Roderick showed up to our door within 3 minutes. He looked at the a. C. Quickly then decided to move us to another room. I gave this hotel 4 stars because of Rodericks promptness in addressing the issue and taking the initiative to move us instead if sending us downstairs. I was very impressed with his politeness and professionalism. Our 2nd room was perfect.

The location was really great. Right on the edge of the historic district. The room was spacious. There was some damage to the room (some water damage on the ceiling, a loud clinking air conditioner, a toilet that ran all night, a loud refrigerator). The staff was quite nice and the breakfast was a standard Hampton Inn breakfast. The outside pool was fine (just a lot of blood sucking bugs).

One impeccable word. There's even a gym.

Overall it has been a good experience — the staff are helpful, the hotel is clean, the complementary breakfast is good. Specifically, the employee named Henry has been really nice to our son each morning at breakfast, and our son has loved interacting with him. The room is a little small for traveling with a pack and play for our infant, but we were able to tuck the low table in the room partially under the desk to make some space and it has worked well. The hotel is located very close to a lot of shopping and dining. It is close enough that we were able to walk down to the Battery with no issues. I'd come back.

Stayed with my mom overnight during college orientation. I, sadly, will not be able to stay for the next 4 years, but my mom has said that she plans on staying here everyone she is in Charleston. Very very very nice welcoming place in the heart of Charleston.

We're in the middle of our 3 night stay. So far we've had a very pleasant experience. The employees are very nice and the room is spacious enough (being that we only spend time there at night).

Lovely accommodations, great location in the center of the historic city. Our room was on the first floor and opened out with a separate entrance onto the garden patio with the pool.

Nice but Needs some improvement, usually the beds at hampton inns are so comfortable. But mine kind of sunk in the middle! Nice hotel though… Room was nice but I thought AC wasn't strong enough kept having to turn up! People that work there very nice!

Run, don't walk away… RUN! So here in the inside scoop on this place. It should be shut down. The rooms are rarely cleaned correctly. Beds are remade and not changed 85% of the time. The floors and toilets are cleaned with WATER ONLY! They use the bath towels to clean the toilets and then throw them on the floor to wipe up the floor. The house keeping manager, Toma, could careless. How do I know this… I had a family member that worked for the hotel until they seen what was going on and they walked out. They rarely changed the beds because they don't have enough linens to change them without waiting on laundry downstairs. The housekeepers want to get out of there ASAP, so they just remake the beds and spray them with Lysol. When they cleaned the bathroom they were told to use a wet hand towel and clean the toilet and floors, and wipe the counter down with the same towel. Emily downstairs doesn't care. She was told about the issue and doesn't care at all. I have called the health department and forwarded photos to them. They are going to check all of this out. Devuets are not changed or washed unless they have blood or poop stains on them. beware! don't stay here! they also have bed bugs very bad!

Great stay. Clean property. Breakfast in the courtyard is really nice if the weather is cooperative. Staff members were all friendly and very accomodating. Convenient to some awesome restaurants and downtown area.

The only good thing about this hotel is it is close to a couple of very good restaurants. The coffee is horrible and the breakfast certainly needs work. Housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. I probably would not go back.

Rooms were very clean, staff friendly and attentive. Hotel is located very close to downtown and is spitting distance from several quality restaurants. Coffee and breakfast are absolutely terrible and need work, but who goes to hotels based on the coffee?

The hotel itself was fine. Beware that there are often events with music outside across the street that can be heard in the rooms. They don't go too late, but might bother you if you go to bed early.

The courtyard is awesome, the breakfast pretty good and fresh, staff is excellent, room was clean. They could have used a couple more comfortable chairs in our room. Overall great experience.

The door man better get paid well, because he was such a great guy and really made a great first impression for the hotel. Check-in was quick, room was great. If you stay at Hamptons on a regular basis, this is a good one. Breakfast was great. Only surprise was parking, which is in a parking deck owned by the city. $16 a day. It was convenient, just an extra cost. I would stay here again.
