Reviews of Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder 4*
HORRIBLE service is an understatement!
Take food allergies more seriously have better customer service make sure everything in hotel room works such as ac unit.
My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and we had nothing but problems the moment we got there. We left a day early because of how terrible our stay was. We were charged way more than what we were told, and more money kept coming out of my account for 3 days. Every time we talked with the front desk it was like they didn’t care. The only thing we got was $100 credit for food and that was before they screwed up. Definitely won’t be staying here again.
The staff are awesome! Food is good! It’s comfortable!
1st time here rooms are nice and clean staff are hard working I love stay.
The staff are great! Nice clean and relaxing!
Tonight we had the worst experience. With two young kids it shouldn’t be so freaking hard to get food. The hostess at one restaurant was extremely rude. The other restaurant she directed us to had a long line and was near the casino ie: SMOKE. We decided on bar food since another family was dining in front and a host quickly came out to clean a table so we could sit; we could finally relax. After a longer than usual wait we asked for status on the food and turns out they forgot to put our order in…
Beautiful setting and away from the city. Every single employee was friendly and accommodating.
Its staff was very friendly had a great time Room was definitely clean. Enjoyed all the time I spent there can't wait to go back.
It wasn't what I expected. 80's vibe going on in rooms. Staff are great, even spa services are higher than Golden Nugget in Vegas. Not too impressed.
Great facility. Food and Beverage outlets poorly managed and woefully understaffed.
Haven't tried it but the restaurant looks real good! lots of tables and slots to play on.
Beautiful hotel with a great pool and casino. Very relaxing and laid back. This is our first time here, but we will be back for sure.
The rooms were very clean, staff was very helpful and the pool is beautiful!
Always friendly people. Enjoy the restaurant and room. Roz.
Room is nice. Restaurants are not. All 3 are rude, leave you standing out front and don’t bother to seat you. I rarely write negative reviews but this place was terrible. Oh and I hope you like the smell of stale air and cigarettes that permeates the entire 1st and 2nd floor of the property.
Very nice and friendly staff. Rose is awesome! always happy and attentive.
Terrible customer services! Terrible location! Treated me awful and the whole entire building smelt like smoke. Charged me extra for stuff I didn’t do! Front desk couldn’t even be respectful and just hung up on me. Security supervisor didn’t even come in my room to actually check. Instead he made up lies and twisted my words. At least the Marriott treats their customers with respect.
One of my favorite places. Beautiful property that is both romantic and family-friendly, and dog-friendly. Highly recommend.
We stayed 3 nights for a girls labor day weekend. We had a 2 bed queen suite with a balcony. Our room was ok but the refrigerator never got our wine cold and the balcony was flooded when we got there. The rug by the sliding door was wet and moldy. The balcony stayed flooded the whole 3 days. This Hilton lobby is beautiful but your rooms need a remodel. The indoor pool and jacuzzi weren't open due to remodeling. So disappointed!
My family (myself, husband, toddler, and dog) stayed here for nine nights so I felt like I had to do a review. Pros: Beautiful setting, the suite and balcony were a good size (5th floor) and nicely decorated, the golf course and spa are awesome, we loved the salt water pool and splash pad, it was quiet and very restful even with a toddler. The dog "potty area" off the second floor is HUGE and gorgeous. Plus there is a dog park! No one minded that we strolled around just looking at the art work and enjoying ourselves. We did not go in the casino at all. Cons: Internet connection was spotty, no microwave in the suite (SO much wasted food! ), understaffed at the front desk, cabanas cost $45-$90 even if no one is around, no water at the dog park (water jug was empty the whole time), the vending machine by our room was empty, we only received two small waters a day and that was if housekeeping made it to us. Overall, we had a fantastic stay. The little things were annoying but not a huge deal. Also, we never asked for more water or gave the staff any chance to fix anything so it's not really fair to complain :) Huge shout out to the bellhops! Friendliest people in the whole place. They helped me so much with carrying stuff and making me feel welcome. We also loved the Iguana Cafe, the staff there were awesome with my daughter.
When I arrived here the hotel was extremely nice. It was huge and I thought I might be overwhelmed, but I wasn't. The walk to my room was long, but my room was on the second floor near the second parking lot, so I was able to simply walk out my balcony and walk to my car, since I had people with me. The indoor pool was being renovated, but the outdoor pool was much larger and was very nice. In the room the bathroom was clean and was also very nice. There was a closet and had a large dresser, with the middle cabinet containing the refrigerator. On the table was a pen and paper to draw on. Finally, the beds had nice pillows and blankets that didn't scratch my face. Overall very nice.
We have stayed several times and we enjoy each time we stay. The restaurants are hit and miss. They have a casino downstairs and both an indoor and outdoor pool, spa and fitness center. The rooms are nice and pretty average in size. It's usually pretty quiet. There is also a golf course. It is a nice getaway for a weekend if you're mostly looking to relax.
Have stayed in brand hotels all over the U. S. Asia, and Europe and this was not a hotel I would ever recommend to family & friends. Hotel bar was at least a 30 minute wait during weekend afternoon, when bartenders were letting other patrons cut who had previously ordered drinks or food. We had given the front desk our number to call when the room was ready, and heard nothing does several hours, we went to check on the status with the front desk and said a room was ready immediately. As a gold member of this company, I never felt like a valued customer. And if given the opportunity I would not stay here again.
I really love coming up to Santa fe and staying at this casino. The rooms are always clean and nice. I enjoy the indoor and outdoor pools. The only suggestion I have is to have more restaurants open during the week and longer business hours. I have stayed here 3 times and enjoyed every trip. My whole experience coming to buffalo thunder resort and casino has been outstanding!
This casino has it all. From slots and great table games in the casino to entertainment and great food. We like craps and played quite a few times. We find this the most entertaining because everyone plays against the casino and when you win everyone wins! We came in and out of town and every time we stopped by their was a craps table open! So much fun. Classy place. Everybody was very friendly. Thanks!
The Enchantment Suite is beautiful. We absolutely loved it. One downside was there are no microwaves in the rooms. If you need to warm anything up, you can go to the front desk and there is one there. It wasn't very clean at all. The casino is nice. Please note: this is not a non-smoking casino. The location is about 15 minutes from the historic Santa Fe Plaza! This area is nice! Full of shops, cafes, restaurants, art galleries and museums! If you like ordering in, Pizza 9 is it; believe me, it's not Chicago Style deep dish pizza as advertised. Lol. We were not impressed with the help of some of the front desk staff; very distracted and rushed while others were very helpful. It's a resort! Unless you're an adventure, everything is right there that you need; however you will pay for it. ($$$). Santa Fe is beautiful but remember everything closes early.
Excellent room, very spacious. A tub shower and a separate glass shower in the bathroom, with lights that start dim and get brighter so they don't hurt first thing in the morning. Air conditioning works suitably well. Went to the buffet for dinner. Food was adequate, none of it was particularly special. Just an okay buffet. It's not the best, but you get as much as you want, and there is a good variety. Didn't gamble, but I know someone else staying there who won $250 at quarter slots. I wish the elevators were more convenient, I had quite a walk to get to them and to my room.
Room was nice, but odd. No fan in the bathroom. No places to hang a towel or washrag. Light on balcony does not turn off. Wifi didn't work. Can't hang clothes in the closet. Restaurant took FOREVER to get our food. Staff is VERY nice!
Nice hotel. Good for conferences and short visits. They have a casino and the gym is open 24h. The food in the restaurant is quite good. Not so good were the daily provided soap and shampoo. Hard to wash out/off. And no toothbrush provided. However, the room service was good.
Really nice hotel but it is pricey and the check in time is long long long. So if you are planning on only staying one night go elsewhere. There is plenty of parking here for all types of vehicles including commercial semis. I have never won anything at the casino only lost. The casino does have a good food selection from multiple venues. Don't think I'll stay here again due to check in times.
Very nice hotel with a professional, friendly staff. We went for some warm weather and early season golf. It's a great place to stay and well maintained. Unfortunately they don't open the outdoor pool until May. It was low 70's degrees days when we visited and it would have been great to get in some pool time. I'm from Colorado — 70's is great for laying out and soaking in some sun! The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is that there aren't a lot of options for eating. As a gaming resort you'd expect there to be a few more options. Breakfast and lunch are tough. The week we went the Painted Parrot was closed for remodeling. The Red Sage is fantastic, but opens at 3pm for bar service and 5pm for dinner. The only lunch option was Iguana Cafe. Just a little surprising that a gaming resort wouldn't have more options available. Every staff person we dealt with was friendly and helpful. The staff is well trained and made the stay even more enjoyable.
I reserved the multi-level executive suite at the end of a road trip from California to Texas and I'm so glad I did! The room-it was more like a private townhome-was amazing! Full kitchen, living room, and half bath on the floor level with a private patio, followed by a spacious master bedroom upstairs! It has a massive king size bed, gas powered fireplace, and the most luxurious bathroom with a huge double vanity sink, shower, separate toilet, and an enormous jetted tub perfect for relaxing after a long drive. There is also a good sized balcony overlooking gorgeous mountainsides with a sliding glass door from the bedroom. This room does not feel like a hotel room, rather a luxury apartment home!
This casino has it all. From slots and great table games in the casino to entertainment and great food. We like craps and played quite a few times. We find this the most entertaining because everyone plays against the casino and when you win everyone wins! We came in and out of town and every time we stopped by their was a craps table open! Very nice Hilton. The Casino is in the front of the resort, hotel is in the back. Free parking, very large and spacious rooms. Mine had a balcony. If you have Hilton Status you get a free breakfast buffet at the Cafe or $10 at Starbucks. The full buffet restaurant is not an option (and it isn't open for breakfast anyways) The Casino has table games and slots. Plenty of variety and special events. Their awards program does seem to have a comp for food after playing a certain amount. I will stay here again.
If I could give this hotel zero stars, I would. When I booked a reservation with this hotel, my emailed confirmation gave me an deadline for cancelling without penalties. My plans changed and I cancelled a month before the deadline. They did not refund my deposit and said I didn't cancel before the deadline. They had put in their notes a completely different deadline than they gave me. I have forwarded them multiple times the email that shows my cancellation deadline. They are still refusing to issue me a refund. What a horrible way to do business. This hotel completely lacks honesty and integrity. I will never go back to this place nor recommend it to anyone.
It's a beautiful place. I'd expect more from the Hilton though. The beds are hard as a rock completely killed mine and my husbands backs, as much as you pay for these rooms you'd think they'd have nicer beds. The bar in the casino is nice, had drinks there and a show, we didn't know they were playing. Skip the restaurants they aren't that good and over priced. We went up to Espanola and ate at a local restaurant.
We went for a connect the venue was nice. Also had dinner at the red sage really nice place food was good. Little pricey.
We splurged and got a suite. So disappointing! The phone in main living area did not work — we called to alert them from the bedroom one — 2 times — no action taken. The wood on the bathroom vanity was torn up — I mean really. The terrace was large and roomy but had something sticky spilt on furniture and large area of floor. This is what you want your guests to see for $280 a night, or at any price? Room service delivered wrong meals to us. But I will say all the staff were very pleasant. A+ on people personality. The resort grounds and interior lobby area are lovely. Please spend some $$$ keeping up your rooms!
Rooms are decent for the price, stood for our anniversary and they didn't do anything special. We ate at the Red Sage, yea not good. Had a massage that was a wast of money booked a couples massage lasted 40 min but paid for 1hr. Never again!
First of all, this place is beautiful. A Hilton resort, you'd expect more. Service is awful, food is disgusting (in every restaurant. Buffet especially). At checkout… 11am. Front desk asked how our stay was. My husband told them about our bad experience at the buffet. So they comped us free breakfast for the bad dinner buffet. We immediately went to have breakfast. When we got there the hostess told us that breakfast was over. We explained what front desk told us. We were told to place our room number and front desk would adjust it. Instead we got charged. We got a free breakfast, and since the buffet was over we had ordered lunch. We complained but they refused to fix their discrepancy and charged us for our complimentary breakfast. Every staff member we encountered was rude. We will never visit buffalo thunder again.
High quality Hilton Hotel. Not like your typical casino hotel, where you have to walk through the slots to get to the check in counter. You would never know there is a casino unless you go to the bottom floor, where you have all the machines and table games you need. The surrounding mountains are gorgeous, and the room quality is excellent. Overall an excellent rating.
Friendly staff and great restaurant options. Huge ballroom to accommodate workshops and conferences and even has the casino and nighclub on site. The rooms are very comfortable and the modern dressings very warm even if you enjoy keeping the room cooler. My room had a balcony which would be beautiful during warmer weather. We had a walking meditation around the golf course paths and witnessed beautiful skies as the sun rose. Truly enjoyed my stay here at Buffalo Thunder. The art housed here is breathtaking.
Large, modern hotel with first class amenities. Comfortable beds. It was quiet during the week. The casino was completely separate from the hotel which was nice. Staff were helpful and friendly. Hilton Diamond members get a free buffet breakfast.
Spent a quick night and breakfast here. Glad we did. Great service and great price. We did not use the casino though. Just needed a crash. Its beautiful.
I booked thru the Hilton Website and did not realize it was a casino. While surprised at first, it ended up working out. There was no smoke smell to our room or the hallways. The restaurants and bars served very good food and drinks. Even though we were there for a weekend, the pool/ hot tub was clean and had plenty of room. We made it into the casino and even it was not to smoke filled. They had a nice morning event with Native American hand crafted jewelry. Close enough to Santa Fe, but outside of the run down outskirts. We had great views and were pleased. From our understanding they are dog friendly and having passed some great camping on the 285 drive from Denver, we plan on a summer trip of camping and ending at Buffalo Thunder for our reward!
We had a pleasant experience staying in one of the Suites on the 5th floor. The balcony was so huge in the bathroom was wonderful with a separate vanity and a magnifying mirror. There was a fireplace in the bedroom as well as and the living room. It was very nice, the only reason I'm giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is because the elevators have a nasty cigarette smell from the casino and the casino was somewhat of a deserted sad place to walk through. We ate at the red sage which was very good and not too crazy expensive. They have a cute little candy shop inside which is also reasonably priced. Have you spent a few minutes in the upstairs club which was completely deserted due to in the offseason. But it was a nice experience nonetheless. I would definitely go back and recommend to others looking for a get away in a comfortable Scenic location.
The whole facility was freezing and it seemed that the air conditioning was on even though it was the end of November! We had to wait an extra hour before we could check in and we were there for a special anniversary weekend! The room was freezing and we could not adjust the heat. No extra blankets in the room. Also the sports channel that we wanted to watch was available in the bar but not in our room! No place to eat breakfast. It was a completely lousy experience and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Completely disappointing.
Fun place, decent food and good service. Needs better support for EV drivers. There should be charging stations. Also would enjoy more up to date slot machine s.
Room was clean & comfortable until the last night of my stay. That’s when the a/c started acting weird and randomly cycling on & off and loosing power. The housekeeping staff could use a lesson in dusting. My allergies were killing me as there was thick dust on the top of the mirror in the bathroom, the bathroom light fixtures, & on top of the tall headboard. There could be extra pillows & an extra blanket in the closet but there isn’t. The food in the Iguana bar was good for being hotel food. But it’s not cheap.
I enjoyed the room and balcony. The room was very clean. The food at the restaurants was expensive but good. There is a 2.5 mile walking loop and a dog park. I found the casino boring, but there is a free shuttle to downtown Santa Fe that was very convenient. I liked the fitness center and the indoor pool and hot tub. There was no complimentary breakfast. Huge facility! I would definitely return.
The staff were courteous and friendly. The building and grounds appeared to be clean and well kept. The Native American Art was beautiful. This place covered a lot of square footage. Everything was so far to walk to. On Mon, Tues and Wed, many of the cafe/restaurants (and buffet) are closed. The buffet restaurant, the dance hall, some other cafe/restaurants were closed and maybe other stuff. I ate some Mexican food at one restaurant and they did not have any tortillas. Only sandwich bread and crackers. I was not happy, neither was my wife with her soup served in a black metal tub. If you want the complete experience, check in on Thurs through Sunday. I could never get the air con set just right. It was either too cold or too warm in the room. Additionally, I did not see or hear of one winner on the casino floor and I visited there for three nights. There may have been some but I didn't see any. Biggest disappointment — cigarette smoke smell in most places. The whole experience was ok, but not for me in the future.
The Hilton Santa Dr Buffalo Thunder resort is nice, but not quite what I was expecting. Service, room, staff are all top notch. The location is tucked away nicely in the New Mexican desert with mountains surrounding. We booked this place for our vacation and Is about a 15 minute drive into historic downtown Santa Re. My only drawback is the place is really centered around the casino, which isn't a bad thing, just not something that interests me. However, I must say it is a quiet, relaxing spot.
Beautiful building and location. Rooms are pretty cool with balconies for a great experience: no light though, so I couldn't read at night! 4 different restaurants, spa and casino.
We went for dinner and gambling just for a fun night out in Santa Fe. We ate at Red Sage, which was very good. It was a pricey meal, but the quality and flavor of the food were on point, although the dishes weren't terribly creative. The cocktails were more inventive than the menu and they head a small selection of good bourbon. We played blackjack and on a Monday night I thought they could have had more tables with low minimum bets open. The rules were slightly different than when I've played in Vegas but the dealer was helpful. The casino was only a little smokey, which was nice. We'll come again next time we're here.
Buffalo Thunder has the potential to be a Four Star hotel and here is why. The rooms are spacious and have beautiful balconies but the rooms need updating. The pools are nice but small for a place that size. I would suggest that the indoor pool become an adult only and possibly a spa patron facility. The spa looked nice but I had no time for a massage. The food. The first morning, I tried ordering room service but no one ever returned my call so I went down to the Iguana Cafe. I ordered chilaquiles and they were nasty! I did have chilaquiles at our function and those were delicious. We also ate at the Red Sage and the service and food was excellent! The casino was a lot of fun and the card tables were runned well! Total fun! The night clubs need work! They are "wanna be" need better dj skills. Another thing I found to be negative or need for improvement is the attitude of many employees that have interaction with guests like the hosts and the people at the night club. The guys at bell hop and valet were very helpful! The last thing I'll say I didn't appreciate the fire alarm going off in my room. I know things happen but no one would answer guest service line so it took 20 minutes to reset and turn off. When I went downstairs to check out. I told them that they should have answered the phone. The young lady was non apologetic about the situation. Being woken up at 8am on a Sunday is not cool.
The hotel is lovely, and the staff is courteous and attentive. However, there are some drawbacks that would keep me from staying there again. I knew that Buffalo Thunder is north of Santa Fe, but I underestimated the inconvenience until I drove it several times. Also, there is NO cell service (really — none whatsoever), and they charge ten bucks a day for Wi-Fi. The in house restaurants are very pricey, but the hotel is too remote to go somewhere else. Plus, the place is enormous and the only elevator is in the main lobby. We didn't even make it to the first room we were assigned because my elderly mother pooped out at what, judging by the room numbers, was no more than half way to our room. The front desk was very courteous about assigning a more convenient room, but it looks like they would have had enough sense in the first place to realize that someone with a walker couldn't walk a quarter mile to her room. I imagine that there are plenty of people who just wouldn't want to.
Room was excellent. King single was spacious, bathroom nice. Buffet was terrible. Not sure what I was expecting, but it's Golden Corral level. Sprawling layout meant a 5 minute walk to my room from the lobby. Good parking.
This hotel & casino, I stayed in one of the suites here one room with 2 queen beds. A master bath tub and separate standing shower. Also has a living room with couch love seat table and chairs and a half bath. 2 nights $600 There is a indoor and outdoor pool with hot tubs. Room service. Lots to do staff seems nice. Seems like there is a problem with the plumbing every time you flush the toilet you can hear a gurgueal in the bath tube. Over all a nice place needs more elevators. Lots of walking.
Brought my 12-year-old girls to this "resort" because of an expectedly large swimming pool. It's smaller than the one in my subdivision. The water had debris in it like it was a lake, and it was so murky that you couldn't see the bottom.
Front desk had to scramble to find me an available/clean room — got upgraded as a Hilton gold member to a terrace room. The terrace had 1/4-inch of water on it — like the pool, unusable. Not to mention the terrace looks directly over the parking lot. Poor. Hilton should divest this property.
The service is the worst I've ever seen. We stood in line 2x's for about 15 min. To check in. Each time we were told rooms were not ready. There were anywhere from 15-20 people in line at any any given time to be told the same thing. They would just give a key to the pool. We spent about an hour and a half at the freezing cold pool (but is pretty) and we were ready to get into a room… still had to stand in line until my husband got very frustrated and chased down the manager to complain about the situation. He got us in a room pretty quick. Room was spacious, and beds were comfy. Halls looked like they were never cleaned, glasses, room service items were never picked up, and definitely needed vacuumed. Once we settled in, we headed to get something else out of car and line was still at least 15 people deep. Ridiculous! It most definitely is not a 4 Diamond Resort.
This casino had everything a family could ask for and the location was good. I would stay here again and recommend it to other people. However the hotel was not well kept and the floors weren't swept in the lobby at all while we were there (one example). This is why I didn't give it 5 stars because of the condition, but we got a great price for it and the staff were friendly as well.
This was a nice resort, I didn't get to take advantage of the pool or spa, but the casino and restaurants were nice. The conference rooms were well staffed. The lobby was very beautiful. The room was comfortable and clean, but I found it odd that there was not a microwave. Overall this place was nicely located and situated for a weekend getaway, but could use some updates, like faster Internet, microwaves in the rooms, and a complementary continental breakfast.
Very nice hotel. Beds were comfortable, room was clean and quiet. It has both an indoor and an outdoor pool, but a sudden rain shower meant we couldn't enjoy the outdoor pool for very long. The buffet restaurant, while expensive, was also quite good. We aren't gamblers so didn't visit the casino. We would definitely stay at the hotel again if visiting Santa Fe.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Rude staff, except for a friendly and helpful bellboy, mixed up our room and offered a roll away bed to both my 63 year old mother and my sister with severe back problems. When we called to ask about getting this fixed, they hung up on us. No bathtub. Wifi for $10 a day. Yeah right. If I had any other option, I would leave right now. This place is a headache.
I play the slots every now and then, I hardly ever win and I rarely see anyone else win. The restaurants are very good and the girly drinks are great they are not to strong or to weak. The rooms are pricey but really nice and the pool is great for the kids; the hot tub is nice and hot.
We stopped in for a little gambling it was very pleasant and the slots were good to us. Had a buffalo burgar that was huge and tasted great loved the fries. Hope next time we can spend the night.
We stayed here for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! We stayed in an Executive King room, which had amazing mountain views, a nice fireplace and everything we needed for the week. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel is situated with mountains all around it and is a convenient 15 minute drive to down-town Santa Fe. We ate at the Iguana and Red Sage, which were both very good. Red Sage is a little pricier, but it was convenient having the two options. There were other restaurant options, but they were set right in the middle of the casino, where they allow smoking. We didn't like the idea of our food tasting like smoke so we didn't try those places. The casino was nice, but doesn't allow drinking?! I guess that's a good thing, but to us (who never gamble and just tried it for fun), we thought a drink while playing would have been nice. The massage at the spa was great and the masseuse gave me a lot of ideas on activities for my husband and me to try. The golf course is amazing! We took about 100 photos there just because we were so amazed at the beautiful views. WHEN we go back to Santa Fe, this will be the only place we'll stay!
Excellent Hilton property! No need to leave the premises they have everything here. Many dining options from casual to fine dining. Excellent spa on site. Will be going here again!
I dined at the red sage with my mom and grandma. We had three courses including wine and dessert beverages. It was a five star experience from the food to our server Tom. I had the cowboy cut riveted which was out of this world everything was great.
Ate at the Painted Parrot for Easter Sunday. The food was better than usual, but not as good as it once was, or as Santa Ana Star. The buffet was not cheap, so with the inflated holiday price tag I expected more. The meats as usual were dry, and over salted. I say all of this in the hopes that they could completely revamp the Painted Parrot, which would make me more of a return customer.
Good Hotel only negativees are 1) Does not have free Wi-Fi but does if you have a AT&T phone. 2) No mobile data for some reason 3) Arcade room is out of date.
The rooms at Buffalo Thunder are spacious, comfortable and are eloquently decorated with a Southwestern motif. The hotel lobby has an amazing display of Native American pottery and art. The spa area is very nice. Our only critique would be be that the room only had a shower. A wonderful shower… but we had selected our room online and had avoided choosing rooms that were listed as no tub.
The hotel seems a little run down and the stench of smoke permeates the entire facility. My room had peeling wallpaper and there was garbage on the floor in the hallway that was never cleaned up over the three days of my stay. The room was certainly spacious and everyone was very welcoming and helpful, I just think the maintenance was a little lacking. The smoke smell alone assures that I'll book elsewhere the next time I'm in the area.
Went for a birthday celebration, first the players club line was longer than crazy with only 2 customer service people plus they have rude mean ass employees topping it off half of the casino slot machines were shut done then we couldn't play our free play cause the slot machines weren't accepting any of our free play cards. Just freaking ridiculous, waste of time/gas and wasn't worthbthe drive, I wouldn't recommend people to go all the way out to Santa Fe just to have broken down machines, that'll be our first & last at Buffalo Thunder Casino.
Great staff and location. Ate at the Red Sage willing was amazing. Bit over priced but within reason. Our waiter was River, who must be the MVP Server there because he was great. Overall, ne and my wife had a wonderful experience. Thank you.
This is one of the most entertaining places to go to. We usually go here at least once a month to spend money that the casino give us for free when you have the membership card. We usually get $10 bucks every week to spend on the slot machines, some months are special and we get $15 to $30 free money on our cards. On the top, we also get $5 coupon for food for the restaurants inside the Casino. We enjoy going here and play the slots. We usually go on the second floor in the smaller room to play, those slots are very good and lucky.
Every thing was extremely expensive. Breakfast buffet cost $16 dollars per person. Asked two people about the continental buffet. No one told me that I would end up spending 72 dollars for a simple buffet. No drinks allowed on the casino floor: (but we did have fun. Just wish customer service was a little better!
Stayed in the King Terrace Suite. The customer service was great, casino was loads of fun, and the dining was pretty decent. Right off the freeway but far enough away from the city that you get a very serene setting. Felt absolutely safe there. Will definitely book here again in the future on our way back home from the holidays!
The room was nice. Fireplace took a while to warm up but did its job perfectly. We had tons of fun in the casino! It is nice and big.
Had a very pleasant experience! The spa treatments were phenomenal, and the rooms very comfortable. The food at the buffet isn't very good, so be sure to eat at one of the actual restaurants instead.
Beautiful hotel with amazing art pieces all over the place. Great staff as well. As for the rooms, it's Hilton so expect the best.
Beautiful place. Friendly staff always smiling and very helpful. The GM was so kind and seemed very down to earth.
Staff were super friendly! Our door stopped locking so I stopped a staff member in the hall who not only called someone to fix it but stayed there and waited until it was fixed — allowing us to go get breakfast downstairs. The buffet was fairly good! A lot of options and our server was really friendly. The only problem we had was when we got our rooms. We had asked for a room with a view of the golf course but what we got was a view of the wall. We went back down to change rooms and were accommodated but our second room also had no golf course in sight. It was still better than the wall. The room was spacious and comfy! Overall we would definitely come back!
The view from my hotel room left much to be desired but the room itself was beautiful and clean. Staff is friendly. Club Shadeh could use some fresh sounds. Everytime I've gone there, the music is stale and outdated. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay.
It is ok. Kind of small. A bit sad. Ok.
10 dollars free for new member. Pull $1 slots ten times. Lost every one. Along with losing with 20 on BJ 6 times in 20 minutes. Odds are never in your favor here it seems.
Stayed here for a rally in October had a really great time. Staff was frendly. It was the pool that really wowed me. If you are ever in Santa Fe this place is worth the drive.
Not too bad at all, but paying for Wi-Fi will never get a place five stars from me.
The best casino in between Las Vegas and the Mississippi. Hotel rooms are clean, big, with really nice showers. The casino has all the table games and slots that you find in Vegas. Staff is nice.
Great hotel everything on this hotel is great except for customer service. We had additional charges and after we called back they hung Up on us could not get a strait answer. I do recomend it for the hotel itself and the restaurants are reall nice. I guess our only problem was with customer service.

RespondWent to see Blue Oyster Cult and April Wine (well, just BOC). Despite calling ahead to make sure the event was on, and checking their WWW site, and actually going there and reading signs that the show was a go, there was NO indication that the lead guitarist was stuck in Denver. There was NO indication until we got there that April Wine was stuck in Denver, and the show would start 45 minutes late. Then — the acoustics and sound system were awful. We could only hear extremely distorted bass, unless the bass player wasn't playing, then we heard off-key singing because the parts of the band that showed up were all ill. Wouldn't give us our money back when we walked out after 15 minutes.

RespondMy husband and I spent 2 nights at Buffalo Thunder, Dec 28-29th, checking out today, Dec. 30th. We had never been in the casino before and wanted to use it as a base to spend time in Santa Fe. We aren't big gamblers but heard the rooms were nice and food good. We purchased the "Baby It's Cold Outside" package which had $20 each to gamble with, $20 off 2 entrees each night and some other extras we didn't use. All in all we had a great time. The room was lovely-large, clean and well furnished. The bathroom had a fantastic, large tiled shower AND a bathtub/shower. It had a larger than needed vanity and all faucets were easy to use and worked well (which isn't always the case in hotels). The room and bath were very clean and the housekeeping staff kept it that way. The highlight of our stay was our meal at the Red Sage restaurant. We used one of our $20 vouchers but the entrees ranged from about $28-38 or so and then we had to buy sides a la cart. We both ordered the 8 oz Allen Bros. Beef tenderloin for $28. Husband had a dinner salad and we shared the "3 sides for $18" and had a loaded baked potato, sauteed mushrooms and carmelized brussel sprouts. All of it was scrumptious. The bread basket brought while waiting for our salad/meal was full of hot green chile cornbread w/butter and warm slices of sour dough bread. It included oil and sea salt for dipping along with butter. The Red Sage service was superb and the atmosphere wonderful.

RespondI made a reservation for this wonderful hotel on October 2014! for my anniversary! first it was like a nightmare, my reservation was accidentally cancel and they didn't have any more rooms available! but thanks god the manager was working so hard to help me! and after 20 min of frustration she finally found something for us! our night was great at the "honeymoon suite". They really made it up with a champagne bottle and chocolates in our suite! Thanks Buffalo Thunder Casino and Hotel! we will never forget this wonderful anniversary.

RespondI recently stopped by this casino. Casinos often get a bad rap because they do take your money. But, I can't say good enough things about their security. I was on my way out of the casino when this guy walked right in front of me causing me to spill some of my hot coffee onto my hand. No excuse me or anything from him, so I told him to watch where he was going. He turned and looked right at me and began staring me down. I started waiving at him to step outside with me, and then he began following me. I'm a trained fighter, so I was glad to have this rabbit taking the bait. When I got outside I stopped and noticed that the coward suddenly had two of his friends with him. When he spoke to me I noticed that he was speaking with a Mexican accent at which point I realized that it was going to be one on three. I kept calling the guy out to a one on one, but he refused to go with me alone; he needed his buddies in order to have a chance. Suddenly out of the blue, the main security personnel walked up to them telling them they weren't going to do anything. The security kept tabs on them while I walked away. I'm glad on two fronts, since this was going to be a three on one battle, there was going to be less of a chance of me walking away from it even if I'm trained. But, two, since it was going to be three on one they are lucky they didn't follow me to my vehicle because they wouldn't have liked what would have been waiting for them.

RespondThe MOST unorganized staff I have ever seen in a hotel. If you ask one person one thing, prepare to get a totally different answer from someone else. The woman who checked us in didn't even bother to tell us what floor we were on. Then when we got to our room we find out there is only one bed. Two days we checked out of our room at 9AM and after I called about the five or six unnecessary charges on my credit card — they still had us in house! Think twice before staying here. However, the grounds and pool are great. Nice restaurants and free wine tastings on Fridays. I only wish the staff was as pleasing as the environment.
