Really cool throwback to the 1930’s motel court concept. Highly recommend this on your bucket list. Totally renovated but maintains its original charm. Great pool and bar and hot tub.

Fun place to mingle w young hipsters & dance. However, they have the most expensive Happy Hour drinks I’ve ever had in SF. $10 for the tiniest house Margarita. I don’t get out much. Is that the norm these days?

Great place to mingle with locals and hear live music in a more intimate setting.

I don’t know about the hotel but the bar is great a lot of events happening during the week and on the weekend two kiva fireplaces it’s a beautiful space!

Great place to stay in Santa Fe.

Tiny rooms, no comfy chairs to sit in, no fridge, no microwave, no restaurant or food on the premises, and the front office girls are rude. Oh and the bartenders were rude and snotty! Do not recommend and won't be going back.

Very cute accommodations rooms are really cute. If you get one of the smaller rooms bring your own pillows the one that are supplied are depleted and the bed was the most uncomfortable bed in a Motel I have ever not slept on. My wife and I tossed and turn for six hours before giving up and making our way to our other ventures. The pool and bar areas fill up very quickly make sure to arrive early and grab a spot it’s a first come first serve kind of set up.

Absolutely appreciate every single detail of this place. It’s purposely perfectly imperfect and every corner you turn is an amazing experience from the music genre being played in the courtyard, the mobile pizza brick oven with the friendliest crew preparing the pizzas, the fire pit to make the s’mores, to the amazing front desk staff. The beer selection was ace. The decor of the rooms pissed me
off they were so rad and the neighborhood recommendations were on point. We visited with a few neighboring guests which normally isn’t something I would do but whatever it is that you push through the air there makes you about 10 times friendlier and want to experience it all. Oh, and nice touch with the record player and record selection! Didn’t want to leave and will for sure head back to
Santa Fe just to stay there.

It's pretty cool! The pool is pretty big and they have a court yard with a bar and pizza.

The room (#9) mid century New Mexico style. Clean, comfortable. The La Reina bar was great! Annie and Diana work their tails off and make everyone welcome! Josh at the front desk was friendly and helpful.

For a three star hotel, recently remodeled, this place is clean, quaint, and has the amenities you might want. It's very NM in its adobe style. The staff is friendly and the rooms are fairly large for a motel.

I loved it here! The place has a cool, quirky, retro vibe! The reception desk was very helpful and the bar’s pretty good too! You should stay in this eclectic hotel!

I'm confused by this place. Half authentic, well-preserved hotel from a previous time, half hipster paradise, with a price somewhere in between. The staff was super nice but it definitely feels like the place is in transition.

Construction going on so very noisy and dirty. In my deluxe king suite I had a king bed 2 chairs. NO closet a desk with 2 drawers too small for 2 suitcases of clothes. Parking lot is awful. A blow mattress for deluxe king bed. It was like sleeping on knives. The courtyard is over run with ants and badly needs bushes trimmed. Also had another room that is their big room which had bedding worse then my room. Full kitchen was nice but only 1 spoon! Drawers in kitchen broken, dishwasher needs to be replaced. Oh yes and the company of roaches. Windows locks are broken, the sauna and spa are closed. None of this was reported to me when I booked also the pictures on the website look nothing at all like the rooms. I was disappointed.

We’ve been coming to what used to be the El Ray Inn for 20 years — it was amazing eclectic comfortable different affordable. The owners are probably rolling over in their beds because now it’s sterile boring typical … and we will never come back. So incredibly sad that something so unique has been washed away and replaced by an every day white washed motel. They even give memberships outside of their guests to people to come use their pool. The new owners have destroyed this place. And, The property is a disaster. They’re having a huge crappy yard sale from all the old stuff right in the middle. They have a water any of the plants or flowers barely. There’s construction all over and none of this was portrayed to us when we booked the rooms directly from the front desk over the phone.

Currently renovating outdated rooms. Ask for a new room. Skip the bar at the hotel. Over priced and their drinks tasted terrible. Cute property on the whole. Staff good… check the shower. Our shower head barely put out any water. Pressure. It's like they go to all the time and trouble to fix a room up … and don't bother to check and make sure the shower head and water pressure are working correctly. Do not get one of the old room… Pantry rest next door very good… toyko cafe across street is good too. Those black chair with the bar across the back you put in the new rooms are terrible.

Comfortable room. Office, bar, and common areas are stylish. Some amenities in the room need updating and bulbs replaced. Will stay here again.

Fantastic place to stay for a night. The rooms are clean and the layout of the hotel is very comforting being hidden inside the walls. They have a hot tub, pool and a nice bar area at the hotel. You also get a $5 voucher for breakfast to use at the place next door.

The motel room was pretty. It was cold that night, 40 degrees. I put the heater to 70 degrees, but we froze. Needless to say, the heater didn't turn on. While checking out, I informed the receptionist. She looked at the computer and said, "Hmmmm, you were already given a discount. " That's the end of that story.

Great little motel. Lovely grounds, comfortable beds. Still a work in progress but well worth the price. The newly renovated bar is lovely.

Charming place with beautiful tile and wood work. Beds are fantastically comfortable. The bathrooms are surprisingly large. All the staff we met was friendly enough. The place is old, but very clean and well-kept.

An old Route 66 motel. Well preserved and well maintained. Free breakfast and close to the Plaza. If you are into nostalgia and are planning a 66 tour, put this rest stop on your map.

3/25/18 — Breakfast is NOT free. They give you a $5 voucher for a restaurant next door where you still have to pay the difference. The room we stayed in was pretty outdated, but still charming. Has microwave, fridge, and nice TV. The outdoor hot tub is really nice and large enough for multiple groups to use at once. The grounds and architecture are very unique and quaint, but some landscaping is overgrown and needs work. It just looks like everything needs a little more attention to detail in general. If they did that and then charged the same price, this place would be a steal.

Spent one night there. Paid $100, heard good things and seemed like a nice older property, well kept. TV wasn’t working, room had been recently painted and cable cut accidentally. Staff was very responsive. Refrigerator was not working. Moved it ourselves to an outlet that functioned. Toilet ran occasionally and woke up to it full, backed up. Inconvenient in morning with sons, but they worked on it immediately and seemed to fix it by the time we left. Dumpster truck made a lot of noise very early in the am. Street noise is present unless you get a room near the back of the property I guess. Overall, expect inconveniences of an old property. And a 20 min wait for vouchers given to Pastry restaurant down the block in the am. Not worth the experience or 50% increase compared to similar motels in the area without breakfast.

Rooms were nice, clean and spacious. Our room was at the back and fairly quiet. Cons: off busy road not that close to anything.

Very happy to stay here! The rates are perfect and the property it quaint and charming with a relaxed but quality vibe. We had a room with a fireplace and it was so lovely and cozy-not to mention clean and spacious! I'd recommend this place over the swankier properties on the square, unless swanky is your thang.

Returned to use the hot tub and sauna. I really tried to give this another shot after a bad experience but after not being treated well and having a room that you pay $90 for only to find sharp objects on the ground and trash, large chunks of object floating in hot tub, windows that don't lock, funky wrinkled sheets, etc… I will say I will never stay here again. $90 = 4 hours of sleep and no compensation. They do not work with you. Instead find fault in you. Was afraid from previous disrespect to mention anything mentioned above. If you are hearty and have money to throw for a nice garden to walk through. Its great for that. Worth the experience but nothing I would return to.

Location isn't great, rooms are tiny, continental breakfast is possibly the worst I've ever seen (3 random pastries and a pot of lukewarm coffee does not a breakfast make) … The El Rey is just kind of… meh. I didn't get a full night's sleep here because the other patrons were so loud! On the other hand, if you're driving, it's roughly 10 minutes from the square, if that's what you're after. Rooms are clean and bed was comfy. You get what you pay for at the El Rey, but I don't think I'll be staying here again.

Cute rooms, nice spa and sauna, best location in town — El Parasol is across the street, and The Pantry is basically next store. We love this place.

We booked the Lodge-5 sitting areas and a separate bedroom, one and a half bath. Lots of art pieces, Indian drums and a full size kitchen and dining. Loved the room, the staff and the price. We stayed 5 nights and will stay here again. Staff drove to the Plaza and picked up my mother in law after Uber left her hanging. Only wish we could have enjoyed the hot tub before leaving. Located centrally and next to Pantry, a local restaurant, very good comfort New Mexican food.

Rooms and amenities are only a little above average, but is priced like a high quality resort. Good hot tubs.

Dive hotel with a charming exterior setting and classic pueblo architecture, don't let this fool you. Thrift store furniture, dated and dirty does not make vintage and charming. Junk piled up outside bedroom window and old astroturf lawn for landscaping. I don't think the owners have put a dollar back into this place since the day it opened. Over priced … advertised rooms $110 but just paid, bill for one night — $250. At 100 a night, maybe a value?

Had a good time here. Room was kind of cheap for 4. Staff was very friendly and spa facilities were really cool (hot tubs, pool)

What a treasure find! We happened upon this hotel for the night while on our way through Santa Fe. The staff was friendly and extremely hospitable. We loved (! ) the unique decor of the buildings and rooms, which were also very clean and cozy. We will be back for another visit! :-)

The staff is extremely helpful and friendly we were in room 48 superb clean. The grounds are very well kept up the pool is beautiful. Everything is exactly the way you would expect it to be from a nostalgic Motor Court.

The bathroom smelled a lot like mildew. That was the only thing wrong with this place. I cannot say enough good things about our stay. The staff was personable, the price was right, the rooms are homey and the grounds are beautiful. I can't imagine a better experience and I'm quite picky about hotels. Check their website for deals too. It's close enough to downtown that there is no reason to pay double at a downtown hotel.

The hot tub was so nice & warm. The pool is wonderful. We stayed in a room with 3 beds and it even had one bed in it's own room with access to the bathroom. We had a very pleasant experience. I would have given 5 stars but did not enjoy the experience of the breakfast as all the pastries were very hard and no ice water. It's free so not that big of a deal.

Loved it! The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are quiet and comfortable and the staff was very nice. The breakfast was only pastries, but they were amazing. If you want a full breakfast there is a nice little restaurant right next door. One hot tub was not working, but they have 2. This is an old historic building so if you want more modern accommodations this might not be for you.

Stayed in room 41. It was right next to the pool, it was clean, but maybe a little too dark. It had a great shaded courtyard though which was great! This is the best hotel in Santa Fe if you can handle not being on the plaza. We will definitely be back.

For me, everything is right about this beautiful historic motel. Located on old Route 66, it was once in the country and now on busy Cerrillos Road with easy access to everything Santa Fe. Rooms are comfy & interesting with southwestern décor. Some have fireplaces (kivas). The staff is friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and walkable with a sauna, hot tubs, swimming pool & more. An oasis in the center of a bustling area. Breakfast is free in an attractive dining area. I have stayed here several times for one to two weeks, most recently spring 2015. Can't wait to return.

Our stay was very pleasant. The room was nice and quiet, the grounds were charming, and the pool was the perfect temperature. The only complaint with the room was an inadequate vacuuming job that left some chip fragments underneath the desk. We also had a problem with the WI-FI which appeared to two phones but which was extremely difficult to access. Most of the time we connected to the network it didn't have access to the internet, and while we did eventually get a few minutes of internet, the connection quickly cut out.

Our favorite place to stay in Santa Fe! The staff is incredibly friendly and the rooms are terrific. Have visited several times and will definitely return.

This place was so very cozy. It has a very rustic feel while still having amenities like cable, AC, a pool, etc. Not cheap, especially during the peak season, but well worth it. Additionally, the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Excellent and unique. Great staff. Clean and relaxing for a night or several. So much better than the corporate chain hotels. Will definitely stay here again.

Great place! Come here everyone in in Santa Fe (which is quite often)! I recommend if you're looking for nice, comfortable, affordable place.

We love the El Rey. We stay in the same handicap room every time we are here. Great beds, nice bathrooms. The whole place is just peaceful. I always say I just want to move into the El Ray and stay forever.

The El Rey Inn has been one of my favorite hotels and places to stay in Santa Fe then and now. Last spring, I went there with my parents over spring break while they were visiting. The sauna was tiny, but hot :). Pool was closed due to seasonal weather, so I don't have much to critique on that. But the jacuzzi was VERY nice, when I was there benches surrounded a portion of the wading area with pillows. There was a fire pit of which I heated up next to. My room was pretty nice, with a bathroom, bedroom, desk for my homework, and a coffee pot and tea pot I used in the morning. In all, I give this inn and its friendly staff 5 out of 5.

Visited during the winter. Paid $99+tax for a double bed bedroom which is good value in Santa Fe. Room is a bit dated: no available plug near my bed, noisy heater, no heater in the bathroom (floor was very cold). Wi-Fi was very spotty and turned out to be unusable. Pool and sauna were nice. Breakfast was just OK. Self service laundry was affordable and efficient.

Good atmosthere, kind staff, good hospitality. Rooms are a bit dated but very clean, well maintained and comfortable. HD tv, Wi-Fi and safe available. Breakfast is very complete. Pool is nice and clean. Traditional spanish courtyard. Near city centre.
