Reviews of Schuster Mansion Bed & Breakfast 3*
Incredible experience with Molly’s High Tea! We enjoyed it tremendously and learned a lot! Highly recommend it!
A truly amazing home that has a wonderful collection of interesting items at every turn. The rooms are very comfortable and lovely but what sets this B&B apart is the hospitality of the hosts.
High Tea at the Schuster Mansion was amazing! We got to try 7 different teas and the treats were delicious. There was so much attention to detail. I highly recommend this tea!
I recomend spending a weekend at the mansion. My sister and spent one night in September. It waa peaceful, like home away from home. Laura Sue and Rick are welcoming people. They are hospitable and make you feel like family. The breakfasts they offer are wonderful, as well as all their teas. We did not do any of the tea parties but look firward to doing one very soon. The mansion is nestled in the inner city of Milwaukee and is an unexpected pleasure where a staycation is a great get away without leaving the area. It is quiet and serene. A must visit.
Such a lovely way to kick off the holidays. Highly recommend the Mollie’s tea. Teas were wonderful, presentation was spot on.
Had so much fun at Mollie’s tea! Very hopeful that whoever buys the mansion continues offering these same services. Would love to do a staycation here in a few years if still around!
Had a wonderful experience at the Schuster Mansion Bed & Breakfast! Amazing and personable service, delicious food, and a variety of beautiful rooms to see and explore. Laura Sue and Rick were extremely welcoming and informative! As a first time B&B goer, they gave us a good introduction. We were only able to stay one night but will be coming back in the future for longer stays!
This was built by my great grandpa. The owners are awesome.
Getaway Location. Liked · The owners are wonderful and made you feel comfortable. The Mansion was amazing. Like stepping back in time with modern ammenities. The accommodations were excellent and breakfast was great. They accommodated all our needs. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to do it again. Will recommend them to everyone.
Celebrated my Mother’s birthday with high tea at the mansion. Lovely event with a wonderful host. Highly recommend!
… Super way better than the other Milwaukee High Tea. You get to try several different kinds of tea.! What a concept. Plus learn etiquette …! So cool. Food was super yummy too.! We’d rather come back here, thank you ever so much.!
I visited Schuster Mansion for low tea with my family for my bachelorette party. From the moment we stepped foot in the door, we felt at home. Rick was a great host, checked in often, and told us great stories about how the mansion became. The space was decorated beautifully for Christmas and you can really tell that there was a lot of love and thought put into the space. Every piece they have in the space has a story, sit, sip some tea, enjoy the ambiance. I’m so excited to visit again after my wedding so I can see the decorations in another season, but also stay the night and experience even more that’s the mansion has to offer.
My husband and I were traveling to Milwaukee for a weekend getaway. We can not put into words how blessed we were to have stayed at Schuster Mansion! The food was amazing, room was beautiful and comfortable, however, the best part was the awesome time and conversation we had with the host! We left today feeling peaceful, blessed and like a new friendship was made! I can’t wait to return. We highly recommend staying here if you are anywhere near Milwaukee ~ you will not be disappointed.
Treat yourself to the high tea, you will not be disappointed! Everything was absolutely beautiful, the tea & array of sweet and savory was delicious and very gracious hosts. Make sure to take a few minutes for their cute & unique gift shop. It was a lovely afternoon and we can't wait to return!
Lovely furnishings, beautiful surroundings, thoughtful and gracious hosts, and delicious food. Each room is full of collections, every wall, nook and cranny has something to delight the eye. A recitation of the mansion's history and those who left an imprint on it by the hostess, Laura Sue, was interesting and informative. A wonderful getaway, we highly recommend paying the small extra to get the full service and make it a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you, Laura Sue and Rick, for a lovely weekend.
Tea at the mansion is not to be missed. Lovely atmosphere, scrumptious food, delightful tea blends, and the most wonderful hosts.
High tea is always special— a very gracious host and hostess!
Wonderful and charming hosts! this is our second time staying here. Highly recommend.
Wonderful hosts! Beautiful house, the breakfast was amazing, our room was cozy the bed was so comfortable. First time at a B&B it it was a wonderful experience. Definitely recommend!
I've been to their Mollie's High Tea at least 4 times. They have the best high tea ever. As well as the best bed & breakfast in Wisconsin.
Wonderful service, atmosphere & food!
What a wonderful welcoming place!
from the check in to the warm cookies coffee in the morning and delicious breakfast. Highly recommend!
Laura Sue & Rick are incredible people as well as fantastic inn-keepers. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and truly care about your experience at their gorgeous property. It’s always a pleasure spending time at the Schuster Mansion Bed & Breakfast! (P. S. Be sure to spend time in their beautiful garden! )
This is a “special occasion “ place that doesn’t disappoint. Iheartily recommend.
My husband booked our stay as a surprise as he knows how much I love Victorians. Our stay was absolutely perfect. Laura Sue and Rick are so welcoming. They were happy to recommend supper places for us to explore. Our room was just gorgeous and breakfast was very yummy. So happy we stayed here and will definitely be coming back!
Wonderful hospitality. Breakfast was great as well!
We went for the High Tea. It was a delightful afternoon filled with delicious food, great conversation and excellent tea. We so enjoyed interacting with Laura Sue and Brian.
Absolutely loved the high tea experience! Such a delight, I loved that I was able to drink many different types of tea and being able to learn about culture during the Victorian era is a big hit for this history nerd.
My girlfriend and I headed down to Milwaukee for Summerfest this past weekend and decided to try our first B&B experience. The Schuster Mansion set the bar extremely high for a first time experience. We received a beautiful menu to pick from for breakfast, coffee at our door in the morning, and the world’s easiest check in and check out. The keep saved our trip by letting me print my tickets that I left back home from their fax machine. The building was absolutely gorgeous, a big step back in time. Location of the mansion was perfect, only a few miles to downtown and nightlife. I would highly recommend anyone to check out this beautifully unique bread and breakfast.

Unfortunately I only had one night here but I thoroughly found the owners over-the-top accommodating and such a comfortable room… great breakfast and I enjoyed lan on coming back.
Took Mom here for a mother's day gift, she loved it. The food was amazing, tea selection was great. Gift shop was awesome, everything was so perfectly priced, which is unusual in a place of this nature. Since we were the only ones they're we didn't get the history of the mansion tour, but we still got to explore the first floor on our own. Laura-Sue was a great hostess and she say down and chatted with us for a bit. Overall great experience, definitely would return.
I went to the Schuster Mansion with my soon to be in laws. I wasn't really sure what to expect and was pleasently surprised! We all dressed up, as you should when you are invited to the Schuster Mansion. I learned so many interesting things realated to the dress and ways of the time era presented. We ate some of the most phenomenal cakes and tea sandwiches and drank a large variety of different teas set up in a buffet. I thought the host was going to be a little judgemental about how to eat or drink our tea but she was a remarkable host! She was a warm and very kind lady who has a true passion for what she does. She answered all of our questions and gave us an amazing tour. We took some really amazing photos in our tea hats and dresses. She had the coolest antiques displayed in the mansion. I will definitely be returning for another visit with my girlfriends! We are millennials that have old souls and can actually appreciate the miraculous preservation efforts put forth by Laura and hee team. Thank you for allowing us into your amazing Schuster Mansion! We will be back.
May 4 – May 6 I had the pleasure of spending the weekend at the Schuster Mansion. What a wonderful experience! My bedroom was perfect. I was given a room heater because I was feeling rather cold after coming from southern Texas. The bed was very comfortable and it was so quiet in my room. I also accidently found the hidden closet in the room. It was rather enchanting, like I was expecting a Narnia experience. I loved walking through the Shop of Laura Sue’s Favorite Things. There were so many unique items to choose from. The whole house is so awesome. As I walked around it was hard to take in everything. So many little things to see. One could feel the love that had gone into putting this whole venue together. Sunday afternoon, I was able to attend High Tea! What a delightful experience. The other guests at my table were very friendly and we enjoyed sharing with each other our opinions of the foods and the different teas. We all felt very much at home to move around to get more tea while Laura Sue was giving her presentation talking about Victorian dress. Laura Sue had a way of presenting facts with a bit of humor in everything. Rick, her husband, also plays a big role in the High Tea. They are both dressed in Victorian attire which really sets the mode. Thank you to Rick and Laura Sue for showing me such a wonderful, relaxing time. Sheri Nemes.
I just spent a relaxing weekend in the Pias Suite. Was very beautiful and lots of old world charm. The High Tea on Sunday afternoon ended the weekend to perfection.
If I could give more stars, I would! Amazing innkeepers, amazing breakfasts, amazing history and amazing rooms. We had the high tea on Saturday and it was so fun and delicious. Close to anywhere you may want to go in the Milwaukee area. I feel like we went from never staying at a B&B straight to the upper escheleon of B&B's. Will certainly stay here again.
I hosted a photography event at the Schuster Mansion on January 07th 2018, it was the first large shoot of the year. I must say, I was blown away by the hospitality of the innkeepers. Laura Sue, and Rick are two of the nicest people I have ever met, and Laura has an immaculate eye for aesthetics and design. The entire group was blown away by the layout of the mansion! What an excellent experience, I would absolutely recommend renting this space for your next event. I also stayed in a room overnight and found it to be very comfortable, and relaxing. I will be coming back with my husband for another stay sometime soon! Try it out! You will not be disappointed!
I just came from having High Tea at the Schuster Mansion! From the warm greeting at the door to the promise of a return, we were whisked into another century and pampered beyond measure. I couldn't finish my last pastry, but that's what I get for devouring every savory sandwich and flaky scone that came near to me! I tried at least four of the seven teas; my favorites were the Schuster Special Blend and the Cinnamon Spice. I ended with Peppermint! A short historical talk of the perfect length ended our tea time, and then we were free to sip more tea while we toured the first floor. A delightful gift store was filled with the scent of fine teas and I lingered over the earrings, scarves, fans and music boxes. I can't wait to return for another visit! Bring an appetite and an appreciation of all things lovely!

My mom and I had High Tea at the Schuster Mansion this evening. It is beautifully decorated for Christmas and definitely something to see! The food was very good and the tea was delicious, even as someone who doesn't usually drink tea. They were accommodating of the fact that I don't eat meat. I had the same amount of food as everyone else. As far as what other reviews are saying about the neighborhood, my mom and I felt very safe, even with the fact that we were there after dark. We didn't see or hear anything that would alarm us or cause us to worry. Laura Sue and Rick change the menu and the teas 3 times a year — my mom and I are already planning our next High Tea to see what else Laura Sue and Rick come up with. If you are looking for a unique experience in Milwaukee, this is definitely it!
For two years now we've enjoyed a Christmas High tea at the mansion and will be back. The mansion decorations for the holidays are truly magical. Laura Sue and Rick are fabulous hosts and very accommodating. This year I invited a larger group of family and friends and Laura Sue was very helpful in planning for a large group. It's a wonderful tradition that we hope to keep up for years to come!
The High Tea was absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend a visit! It's decorated for the holidays And is beautiful!
This was my first experience at a bed and breakfast and I was not disappointed. Between the cozy little room, the old decor, the exceptional breakfast and the extremely friendly owners I had an outstanding time at the Schuster Mansion. Will definitely stay there again if I'm in Milwaukee for the night.
I wish that I could say I had as wonderful of an experience as the other reviews, however, my experience was so terrible that I didn't even make it to the mansion. After booking a room for two nights, I decided it was a little out of budget, so I called back mere hours later to cancel one night. After not seeing the money back in my account after a few days, I called back to ask how long it would take. Laura Sue (owner) stated that she had completely forgotten to cancel one of my nights. Not only had she forgotten, but I would have to wait three days for her to even begin the process because she was "too busy. " Three days later I get an email explaining that they have refunded my account for the full two-night stay and reran my card for a single night. The worst part about this? they now have $460 of my money that I am forced to wait 7-10 business days to get back. Upon calling to express my displeasure, Laura Sue was very short with me and told me she would cancel my room completely upon my request, and then she hung up on me. Hung up on me. No apology. No explanation. Just hung up. May your future guests have a much better experience. But be warned, this woman seems to think she can do no wrong.
My mother and I attended the High Tea for her Birthday. In the past we've regularly attended at Watt's tea shop until they closed their doors and since have been searching for a new place to go for tea. After trying a few other disappointing places, a pop up on Facebook for the Schuster Mansion caught my eye. I hadn't heard of the mansion before this so I went on to investigate and learn about the Schuster Mansions history and their offering of the High and Low Teas. I made the decision to try the High Tea and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. This High Tea was an absolutely amazing experience that far surpassed every tea I've ever been to including Watts! If you are looking for a sweet historic B&B or a lovely afternoon High or Low Tea, this is your place. Laura Sue, owner and our High Tea host was just so welcoming, sweet, kind, and humble. Dressed so cute in proper Victorian Tea attire (that she had sewen herself), Laura Sue educated us on the history of women's fashion for the era and on proper High Tea etiquette. We will definitely be back for High Tea throughout the year as the teas, talks, and mansion decor changes with the seasons. Thank you so much Laura Sue for your special personally added touch making our visit a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
See you again soon!

If your looking for somthing totally unique, this is it. The decor is spot on Victorian! How she has crafted the wallpaper is beyond incredible. A true gem of a bed and breakfast. Easy Highway access, close to anywhere we wanted to go.
We went for the afternoon high tea. Hosts were both knowledge, helpful and wonderful in period costume. Deserts were great. Cream and sandwiches were home made by the hostess. Only downside was it was billed as lunch, but was not enough food. We got one cheese wrapped sprig of asparagus, one cucumber sandwich, one tuna salad sandwich the same size as the cucumber, half of a scone, and three cake bits the size of a silver dollar is enough for an adult lunch.
Spent the night for our 10 year anniversary and the experience in the mansion was great. The atmosphere, the food and the detail were perfect. If you are reading other reviews and are concerned about the neighborhood, don't be. As Chicago suburban people (Plainfield, Illinois) we found it safe and never questioned that. Highly recommend if you are in town and want to have an experience rather than a simple hotel stay.
So lovely. There was so much attention to detail. The furniture, the wallpaper, the china, and the individual items around the rooms were unbelievable. Everywhere we looked, something new and adorable caught our eye. Private joke: their resident cat's name was Adorable. It was like a trip back to the 1800's. Our hosts welcomed everyone warmly. It was like being in a museum yet you lived within the display. Loved the visit.
We went to a high tea at the Schuester Mansion. Overall it was a great experience. The tea was excellent! My only wish is that we could customize the menu a little bit. For example, I didn't like two of the savory snacks (one had tuna and the other had blue cheese). I wish I could have let them know ahead of time and just had three of the cucumber one! I would still come back and do tea again despite this. The owners are lovely and so meticulous with the mansion' s upkeep!
Too bad there isn't an option for negative stars. The neighborhood where this place is located is absolutely frightening. I wanted to bring my two young daughters for an afternoon low tea which is advertised on their website. I rang the bell, no answer. I called, was told they don't have any tea and could I come back in an hour? Umm, I'm not waiting for an hour in this neighborhood without a bodyguard. How is this a tea shop without any tea?! Horrible.
I absolutely love it here, it's a beautiful mansion with beautiful owners.
I've gone twice so far once for low tea, which was a wonderful experience. Then once for high tea and let me tell you, that I didn't think that I could have an even better time, but I did!
It was so eligant, beautiful and informative on the different ways one drinks during high and low tea.
My party of three was paired up to sit with a wonderful couple on their anniversary and it was an absolute pleasure to be seated with this couple.
I love The Schuster Mansion and I would highly recommend you take a visit, it is a beautiful memory that you will forever keep ❤
We went to Schuster for afternoon low tea with my mother-in-law and it was lovely! The hostess was very gracious and the food and tea was wonderful. The house has great victorian decorations and there are things to talk about in every nook. For low tea we were checked on regularly for any needs but we had plenty of time to just chat which was why we had gone there — to catch up. I would highly recommend low-tea for a ladies afternoon. The hostess also mentioned that they were open if you just wanted to come over and have a cup of tea with friends and hang out. For low tea we had really delicious scones (and you know those can be dry if they are not made properly — these were wonderful) and chocolate chip cookies as well as babka. It was served with clotted cream and preserves that seemed homemade too. Highly recommend!
This B&B is in the worst neighborhood in Milwaukee. I didn't feel safe. Not to mention, hostess Laura is a schister, rude and condescending. Poor service and I won't be back, ever. Save your money, trust me. None of the experience is worth the high price. Don't give a dime to this dishonest woman!
My experience at The Schuster Mansion in Milwaukee Wisconsin was much less than I expected it to be. The hostess / owner was very rude and uninviting. There are several reasons why I feel this way. First of there was a discrepancy in the price stated on the website. Secondly her rapport with the guests came across as condescending and insincere. Lastly, she tried too force ud to tip and became very upset when we did not respond to her acquisition. Thoughts in mind with these thoughts in mind, I will add at the food tasted okay however was not adequate for the price. I will not be returning and will pass this experience along to my friends and family.
Amazing experience! I've gone to dozens of high teas around the world and the Schuster is without a doubt in my top 5. It's not just tea and dessert — it's a true experience into the history and customs of Victorian society. You don't just pick one tea, you get to try a buffet of different teas while listening to stories and enjoying the delicacies that your wonderful hosts have cooked up. Afterwards you get to tour the mansion, peruse the quaint gift shop, and chat with the owners of the mansion. I will be booking my third visit very soon!
Such a wonderful B&B experience. While the location is not the best itself, that affected no part of my stay or feeling of safety as some of the other reviews claim. It is close to all of the fun things we did while we were there (about $9 uber ride). The owners were fantastic and served an INCREDIBLE breakfast! They have put a lot of hard work into this place, and it was worth every penny.
Terrible! Got there at 5:30 p. M. To check in and No one was tgere. Called owner and they told us they would be back at 8 p. M. Would not refund our money. Rough neighborhood and the place looked run down in shambles. I still think it is a scam. We could not bring our shelves to stay there and would not recommend to anyone. Place was reported to BBB.
Unbelievable! From the moment you walk in this place is/was incredible! The lobby, the sitting room, the antiques, the service, the room, the whole house was just a joy. Get the Serenity room, late checkout, take the tour and see if there is any availability for high tea and you will love all of it.
My stay at the Schuster Mansion Bed & Breakfast was amazing. The owners Rick and Laura Sue do a phenomenal job in making the guests feel like they are family. They are very helpful in giving you ideas for places to go and genuinely want you to have the best experience while you are staying in Milwaukee. The rooms are gorgeous and furnished with antiques and amazing wood work that really keep that living history feeling vibrant. The tour of the mansion was entertaining and informative and really brought everything to life. If you are planning a stay in Milwaukee do yourself a favor and stay at the Schuster Mansion, you will not regret it!
It exceeded all of our expectations. There was good parking for out motorcycle. We expected noise since it is in the city but the night was quiet. One does not even hear the other guests. Laura's room was fantastic. The sun room was very enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was awesome. They are excellent cooks. We enjoyed talking to Laura and Rich and touring the mansion. We picked this place as it was close to our activities and only expected it to be a place to stay. However it was icing on the cake for our trip.
I had a wonderful experience at the Schuster Mansion. I found it through a third party app that I sometimes use in unfamiliar places and jumped at it when I saw the picture of the house and the reasonable price. In person, it's gorgeous and lovingly restored. I was pleasantly surprised in every way. Although call Laura Sue directly, she's terrific; you'll have a better experience, it's better for them, and it won't cost any more. They do a High Tea several days a week that I unfortunately missed that sounds great as well. Also, don't pre-judge as many reviewers seem to have. The neighborhood is perfectly fine and safe. It's the CITY people! It's diverse and eclectic. If you want the soul sucking experience of a motel/hotel fine. If not, stay here.
This beautifully-run bed and breakfast was a real retreat for our family. The host and hostess, Rick and Laura Sue, definitely made it a memorable experience. Breakfast was delicious, and there were many touches that made it very special. Their kindness was very evident in all areas. Thanks again!
I would have to disagree with the last review. You obviously don't have a good judge of character. Rick and Laura Sue Mosier are wonderful and blessed people that provide comfort of their own home to many people around the US! I felt totally safe and secure during my 2 day stay. My husband and I enjoyed the many valuable items and the history of the mansion they had to share with us. The breakfast was delicious and the atmosphere there is educating and delightful. Getting a refund never once crossed our minds! I believe for someone to write a review based off the fact they couldn't get their money back is highly immoral and bitter. And just because their establishment is in an urban area does not mean you will get robbed or shot! Please do not let the previous review give you second thoughts about your decision to stay. I loved it and would definitely go again when I visit Milwaukee again!
Where do I begin with this Horrible place. It's located in the WORST neighborhood in Milwaukee. You literally might get shot or mugged here. But don't worry Rick will try to convince you otherwise. They knew what time we were coming so they purposely staged themselves on the front porch to play cribbage like they just hang out in front drinking tea in the ghetto. They obviously bought this place for dirt cheap because of its location and deceive people who look it up online by not showing or explaining the dangerous neighborhood this way you book 2 or 3 nights before you get there and they will NOT refund your money. This is how they make their living by suckering people to book and pay online knowing when you arrive you will NOT stay for the time you intended. Again they will not refund your money for any reason I know this because after I got back home I did extensive research on these crooks. Also I'm an animal lover but they have this inbred cat that should be put out of its misery poor thing is shaped like a horse shoe. I really hope I can help someone else who reads this so they don't have to go through this same experience. I believe they make up good reviews and pay to have the bad ones removed (with guests money that cancelled to stay there). The lady that lives there looks heavily medicated and slightly brain washed cause she is in lala land. I'm pretty good judge of character and Rick is as phony as his "good" reviews.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. We enjoyed the spacious Victorian styled rooms and the beautiful gardens, but most especially the hosts Laura Sue and Rick. They made us feel like family and showed us the true meaning of hospitality. They also served an amazing breakfast and got our day off to a great start. We would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone seeking a quiet getaway with great hosts!
