Just arrived, they charged us for two rooms even though we only have one confirmation number. Couldn't be more displeased. Would give zero stars if I could. Update: Corporate can't reverse charges, so might not get refund until we can talk with someone on Monday.

Pool is very small. Rooms were clean. Beds weren't the most comfortable. Breakfast was very bare bones. Staff was friendly. Awesome fish tank in lobby. They are in the process of remodeling.

10/10 would not recommend. 3 of my friends and stayed there for 5 nights for country USA. When we first arrived, we were charged $100 extra for “extra” people in the room. Even though we had 4 people on the reservation. That would have been nice to know. The room had no dead bolt. One night at 3 am someone tried to get into our window. Our screen was off the next day. We went to the guy in the lobby and he said “I’ve been watching the cameras, that didn’t happen” maybe that would have worked, but he was sitting on the couch in the lobby watching tv, so he was definitely not watching the camera. The pool was nasty and green. When we went to the front desk to ask for a blanket, they told us there would be a $10 charge, when we asked a different employee, she said there was no charge. Housekeeping came into our room while we were all sleeping and insisted he had to clean the bathroom. We told him we didn’t need it clean, but he insisted. We let him and when we went into the bathroom, nothing was done, but he spent 10 minutes in there. There were things missing in our room every night when we came back to the hotel. The whole time we were there we felt unsafe. The only reason I gave it one star was because one lady at the front desk was very nice to us. Go anywhere else if possible.

If there was negative stars I would give it. Read the reviews before booking! Dirty stained sheets and staff didn't want to change them. Then when doing it stepped all over new sheets. Pile of other dirty sheets in corner. Pool/hot tub unusable due to being dirty with algae in it. How does a heath inspector not shut this place down?! DO NOT STAY HERE!

We rented this hotel room through a room block for a soccer tournament. I reserved for 2 nights and to my surprise it was cheap. Going into this reservation blindly I thought its possibly cheap due to having a room block. I was pretty stoked about price, then I realized, you get what you pay for. Lacks cleanliness. I just prayed that I wouldnt contract anything from the bed sheets. Breakfast was sad. When we checked in, front desk did say that housekeeping would be coming early in the morning to clean, noone even came.

We just stayed at this hotel and honestly it was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had and I’ve stayed at some shady places before. The spot light from outside shined so bright into our first floor window that our room was as bright as midday and that’s with the curtains closed at 9pm. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, neither were the pillows and to top it all off we found two cockroaches. The woman who check us out was very nice and apologized profusely (and said that they had just treated for roaches) but didn’t ask if there was anything she could do to make up for the issue. Also, there was no top lock on the door which made my wife and I feel a bit insecure as well. We will never stay at this hotel again.

The hotel I usually book had no accessible rooms left. I hastily booked this hotel as rooms were scarce that weekend. I did not pay attention to the cancellation policy, my fault. After reading recent reviews about mold, bed bugs and ants, I had great concerns about my disabled son staying there. I managed to book another hotel and went to cancel this reservation 9 days before stay. I was charged $72 to cancel! I requested a waive of fee from the website and the hotel refused to respond within the 48 hours. The booking site recommended calling them directly. Several phone calls were never answered. When I finally got through, I was told to call after 11am for the manager. I called and the manager totally gave me the run around. Needless to say, the fee was not waived. $72 is worth my son’s health and safety. Strongly recommend reading reviews and cancellation fees before booking. Strongly recommend not booking at this hotel.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed at! Front desk service was terrible, TV didn't work, bed bugs, holes in the wall, shower handle falls off randomly, continental breakfast was just cereal. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

The worst hotel I ever went to. There were patches of wall paper covering up who knows what. Then they have blowers blowing on the wallpaper in an attempt to remove the wall paper. The whole hotel smells horrible. When I went called front desk to complain about the smell she informed me the smell was only in the hallways not in the room. And then when I went down to check out they proceeded to argue with me instead of checking me out. They refused to refund me even though I was there for less than 15 min. The credit card gave the money back because it was so bad. I rated 1 star but it really deserves a 0.

It’s cheap. That’s the best thing going for it. Pool is tiny. Staying for a tournament but wanted someplace the kids could swim. Cannot have beverages of any kind in any type of container in the pool area. Makes it difficult to enjoy if you can’t even have a soda.

This is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in a lot of hotels. I was not allowed to check in early (which I understand-I know hotels don't have to let you check in before their designated time). But I've NEVER stayed at a hotel that didn't at least let you leave your luggage at the front desk until it was time to check in. The parking lot was almost completely empty too when I arrived, and I'm assuming due to the low rate that they were nowhere close to being fully booked up. I took a taxi here and they wouldn't even hold my luggage for me at the front desk until 3 pm when I could check in. I had to lug my heavy bags to the pizza place next door and hang out for a couple hours. The front desk lady was completely rude, and the rooms were dumpy. Lots of stupid rules that no other hotels have, such as no visitors after 7:30 pm and no taking breakfast back to your room. The police are here often and there are sketchy people who stay at this hotel long-term, such as drug dealers and prostitutes. It's worth the extra money to stay at a nicer hotel.

Bed bugs, broken down rooms and more… We had the unfortunate luck of staying at this place and the customer service was the absolute worst I have ever seen. The employees act like it's the end of the world if you ask them a question. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and they refused to give us more than 2 towels. Our room smelled like smoke, mold and mildew. The blankets had burn marks and yellow stains. The halls smelled like cat urine. My 2 year old son fell a sleep during house cleaning time and I asked them to come back in 30 mins and they said they didn't appreciate how much trouble I was causing by asking them favors. They also charged us for an extra day. Do NOT stay here!

Rooms were disgusting. Couldn’t have visitors past a certain time 730. Rude front desk and housekeepers. Oh and the big one. I had bedbugs in my first room. I took a picture of the bug, showed the lady. She didn’t care and shrugged as she gave me a different room. I have already reported them to the health department with the picture attached so hopefully this business will either shape up or shut down.

My sister in law stayed here a year ago when visiting from out of town. Man at the front desk was completely rude. I had offered to bring her children for a visit so they could enjoy the pool area. I had no clothes whatsoever with me. I intended to just sit on the side at a table during the visit while her and the children played and the gentleman would have no such thing. He was completely rude despite explanation and told me I could not be in the pool area at all if not a guest. He only allowed the children being their mother was a paying guest. The most he would allow was to leave me wait in the front lobby for an hour and a half until their visit with mom was done. What a joke. I'm certain there are better, more accommodating facilities in the area we will use next time.

The service was good, the channel selection was good, and the the room was clean. The pool was smaller than I had expected, but would be good for kids. The pillows and bed were not comfortable in my opinion. I probably won't stay there again because I know of other hotels in the area that I liked more.

I didn't enjoy my stay there. Yes, the room was cheap, but it was cheap for a reason: burn marks on the floor, battered furniture, and generally felt low-quality and dirty. The staff was nice and helpful, which is the only reason it gets 2 stars instead of 1.

Terrible. Rooms are dingy and falling apart, the hallways weren't properly heated, the front desk clerk made my brother wait for me in — 10 whether outside (couldn't wait in the lobby), the coffee was terrible, the fruit were wilted, the breakfast offering was hardly a breakfast. Last time I will ever stay here. Would not recommend to anyone, unless they are looking for a cheap stay. The ppol hoise had almost no ventilation and there was condisation all over the ceiling dripping on everything. Surprisingly, the sheets were clean. I'll give credit for that.

Staff were friendly, if a little difficult to communicate with. The hotel itself didn't have any major problems, and is maintained. But, the lighting is rough. Harsh some places, dim and yellow in others. Very weird.

I enjoyed my stay at Howard Johnson in Appleton. I was there with my family, Wife and 3 kids. We chose the 2 Queen beds room. Even though it seemed larger in the picture, it was still spacious. The room was clean and well maintained. The amenities were as advertised and well maintained. I received excellent service from the start. I would stay there again and I would recommend it to others who wish to stay in Appleton.

When we made our reservation, we asked for handicap room which was unfulfilled. The room that my parents stayed in had 1 safety bar and the bed was blocking part of the entrance into the room, that made it really hard for my mom on her walker to get in there. We also asked for a room close to or down the hall for me because as her PCA, I needed to be close. I ended up on the second floor. We also went to try and soak in the hot tub, but it was broken with caution tape all around. Based on the past reviews, it's been broken for a couple months which is insane! The pool was a grayish color. The continental breakfast was put out as a after thought, and I HATED the fact that it felt like the front desk staff was policing you if you wanted to bring a cup of juice out. Definitely won't be back.

Friendly staff. Arrived at 4 am because of circumstances and check out was at 11 am, so I asked if I could sleep in until 1 pm instead and they were absolutely cool with it. Even made a note to other employees not to service or disturb my room 'til 1 pm after I leave.

When I first arrived they didn't realize that I made a reservation a week ahead of time. Or that I requested a late check out. They TAKE $100 DEPOSIT Off YOUR CREDIT CARD ahead of time just in case of damages! This is when you get there so it was a big surprise! The HOT TUB did not work properly! My room smelled musty, there was snot on my headboard and one on the shower wall and had mold! On the positive side the staff is friendly, breakfast is AWESOME, and the decorations are nice!

Badly in need of updating. Furniture is chipped, carpeting stained, bathroom just looked old… caulking around tub/shower missing. Nice swimming pool & breakfast though.

It's very inexpensive. I believe that's do to all of the corners cut in maintenance and amenities. Everything is old and lots of standard items are just broken. The carpet is probably from the 80's. The shower control was "floating" in the wall. And the continental breakfast was abysmal. If you need a place to crash for a night this place works. Under no other circumstances is this a place to stay.

Beds were comfortable. Air conditioning worked very well. Continental breakfast was good. Toilet in room needs to be serviced — water kept running. Evening check in receptionist were not very friendly.

Very unfriendly, unhelpful staff. Only seemed to care about my payment. Pool/hot tub locked. VERY outdated and poorly maintained. Breakfast area hidden and weak selection. Only bright spot was pleasant woman at front desk at checkout. She was much better than the rude, uncaring young man there throughout my stay.

I agree with other review: paranoid management. They called my room at midnight for something that could have waited, when they knew I had a 2 year old in the room. Unless you want them breathing down your neck, go somewhere else!

We're waiting on closing date after moving here from Washington. What we discovered is that this place will rent a room to anyone with a pulse and $ in their hand. Cops were there daily and sometimes multiple times in a day. We had paid for a week up front and after a domestic violence incident across the hall from me, I had had enough and we checked out early. Upon checking out, they refused to refund the remaining balance of what we had paid. The clerk said that was their policy and told my wife this on check in. When I asked him to produce a document with my wife's signature stating that she knew and understood the policy he could not. I also asked for a written copy of their policy and he could not produce it either. This place is dangerous and the staff knowingly rents to drug dealers. The have a no firearms sticker on the door but can't provide any safety for your family. stay safe and stay away!

I checked out right away. Mold in bathroom, water stains on ceiling, holes in bathroom door, and walls. Carpet was nasty, and stained bed was horrible, could feel springs. Very unprofessional staff. This hotel was a joke. If you don't want a disease don't stay here. It's a waste. Stay at the quality inn down the road for 12 bucks more. 1, 000 times nicer than this dump. This hotel doesn't even deserve a star.

Paranoid management. A list of rules a page long, including no visitors after 730pm, pool rules, as a consideration for our guests luck your rooms, because they are not responsible. I travel 40 to 45 weeks a year and this is one odd place.

Cheap rooms and free breakfast. Nice and friendly staff. What more do you need?

The only thing I liked about the place was the waffles at their breakfast. The pool and hot tub were way too chlorinated. We had a dirty towel left in our bathroom from the previous people who stayed in our room. The view out of our window was of a wall and the roof of a building and the window had no protective screen; a child could easily fall out of the window to the roof and that was about a 20 foot drop. Also, the sink in our bathroom only had hot water. Not warm, but scolding hot. It made a super funny sound when we turned it on as well. I give two stars to the breakfast and that's it.

I was impressed with the quick and friendly service. The room was clean with obvious receive my updates. I was a little taken aback with the height of the bathroom counter, it only came mid thigh. It could be an issue if my back had been acting up. The breakfast was your typical continental breakfast but satisfactory.

We picked the hotel because of the low price of the room, $50 for two beds. We were instantly taken by how nice the interior of the hotel was — it was well decorated and they provided complimentary coffee and popcorn to guests. There was a little grime in the grout of the bathroom, yet the entire room was well kept and very functional. I will definitely check with this hotel if I visit Appleton in the future.

Courteous staff and great free breakfast. Fast Internet and wonderful basic amenities. Close to the main strip and commercial region of town.

Laquinta is not much more and a lot better all around.

Absolutely foul. They should have paid ME to stay there. The entire place smelled of mold and there were FUNGI growing in the hallways. Ants in the breakfast juice machines that poured out when I tried to use it! DISGUSTING. The management is disrespectful and not helpful at all. They screwed up our reservation and stuck us in a dreadful room last minute after claiming they were booked. The sheets were stained all over and the pillow cases stunk to high heavens! there was hair in the drain of the shower and garbage was still in the trash cans when we arrived. Even though it was a cheap rate, the entire place was just horrible and not worth your money! would rather spend an extra twenty dollars to stay somewhere else. Absolutely horrific experience.

First room was horrible. Toilet didn't flush, phone didn't work dirty sheets bugs in the bathtub. So they moved us to a different room and there was stains on the table, dirty floors and sheets (again). The pool was OK, the hot tub wasn't exactly a "HUT TUB" it was warm as the pool. The we were getting food from the vending machine and as we were on are way back there was 3-4 Mice. Would rate the hotel 0 stars if I could.

They have cleaned the place up, but there are still some problems. The beds are okay, the vending machines are full, and they even have a laundry room. The breakfast was like any other hotel, and the employees were nice. Now the bad parts: the hot tub was shut down, the rooms had some wear, and the WORSE PART: my room was near the entrance of the hotel. EVERY TIME someone entered or exited the hotel, I would hear a DING DONG. It kept me up for at least an hour. Still, not a bad place to stay for the price.

The worst establishment hands down.

I would never stay at this place again, I think I would sleep better in my car. We had made a reservation for two rooms and requested them to be next to each other. We even called back to make sure they were adjacent rooms because the first person we talked to on the phone seemed inept. We were assured that it would be no problem. Then we show up to get our rooms. Turns out there idea of next to each other is down the hall and around the corner. We asked the person at the desk if they could fix it somehow and she proceded to get more rude as the conversation went on. The next day we found out this woman is the manager! I would not let her manage walking my dog! Very poor customer service skills. She finally gave us 2 rooms next to each other. The room must have been cleaned very quickly, there was a candy wrapper on the night stand. The bedside alarm clock was newer but not functioning. Other than that the room was ok, the furniture was pretty beat up though. We came back to our room that evening to sleep and all that could be heard was a crowd of underagers drinking and partying in the lobby. We could hear them clear as day in our room. I went out to talk to the person working and they were nowhere to be found at first. They eventually came strolling in from a hallway, I voiced my frustraions and the guy mearly told the party to be quite. In fact got louder.

Hotel very nice for the price. Would stay here again.

Well, whaddaya want for 42 bucks? rooms are fair, dooorlocks very old, many doors falling off hinges, many pushbars on exit doors falling off. No one fixing anything here that can be noticed. The whirlpool is ok but closes at 10pm, which is idiotic. But maybe they have to close it before the night moron comes on duty. Don't ask anyone here about the BS computer they have in the lobby, as they don't even know they haven't loaded mcCafee or adobe yet. Don't expect to be able to actually print anything on it either. tv ok, room temp ok.
